So currently in hospital at 28 weeks after my waters breaking early hours of Thursday morning, I have no infection and stats and baby are good, no consistent contractions, was anyone able to cook their LO longer, or what is your Premature experience, I have insomnia and can't sleep!

Once they allowed us home on Saturday, infection set in and I was back to hospital quickly, everything happened so fast, and we were so lucky to get Dundee, the NICU was full the day befor. He arrived by emergency Csection and he is doing so amazing, we are both still on antibiotic for the infection and I've been very emotional but that's all part and parcel, every day is a new one and we are hoping to go home once Aberdeen has a bed for us! I still cannot believe he came so early xx

A huge congratulations 🎉

My son was born at 28 weeks; he was in NICU for 9 weeks. He's a strapping 11 year old now with absolutely no complications!

The NICU journey is a rollercoaster xxx

Morning, well my beautiful baby boy was born at 1131 on Monday after being transferred to Dundee, so much closer to home, he was an amazing 2lbs 6oz and is doing epic!! ❤️

@ForGoodnessCake Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy OP!! ❤️ And I’m so so glad that you’re much closer to home than you thought!! Glad to hear he’s doing well! How are you doing? 😊
We’d love to hear all about his journey if you’d like to keep us updated 😊 Wishing you and your lovely little one all the best ❤️

Hi my waters went at 25 weeks although not fully . I was kept in hospital for about 3 weeks given steroid injections every 2 hours because it brought on early labour . They managed to stabilise everything and I was allowed home . Although monitored. Strictly no sex because of risk of infection and shower instead of bath because your cervix will be slightly open . Somehow I went over 2 weeks 😂 which we never thought would ever happen and I had to be induced . Good luck op everything will be fine ❤️

Fingers crossed OP baby stays put for a while longer yet!, hope your ok this evening.
How does it work with getting you over to Belfast should u need to go?

Smurf123 · 19/03/2023 14:35

Fingers crossed baby stays out a while longer but on the reassurance side I only have good things to say about the Nicu in Belfast. The Royal is the regional nicu and the staff were fantastic with my son when he was there and at explaining things to me. Flowers

ForGoodnessCake · 19/03/2023 08:16

Hello, we got home yesterday for bed rest, feeling like rubbish, woke up with contractions this morning, they've eased off, can't help feeling it's all starting. They will transfer to the first available NICU bed and when they told us that was in Belfast, things change very quickly with babies going home etc but just need to make us aware! Still holding on for now, everyday is a milestone I suppose! And just need to try and chill as much as possible, feels unrealistic with the urge to just be ready!

I know it's later but my waters broke at 34 weeks and I was given steroids/antibiotics and she stayed in until I was induced at 37 weeks.

Anothernewname13 · 18/03/2023 19:38

Oh my goodness, so sorry you’re having this worry. After your waters have gone are you able to continue on or is it not generally a case of baby coming out quite soon? Unless they can just constantly monitor you for infection and hope baby stays in a while longer. I’m sure you will both be absolutely fine 🤞🏼 I have a friend with a baby born at 26 weeks and he’s great now. Going to Ireland from Aberdeen sounds a bit mad? Surely there’s NICU capacity somewhere in Scotland? Another friend’s baby was born at 27 weeks and was able to just stay in our local hospital NICU, we’re Scotland too

Potatopancake · 18/03/2023 19:35

Hi OP.

Just wanted to say that I'm also in Aberdeen and also pregnant and I'm sending you all the best wishes ❤️
Didn't realise that Aberdeen doesn't have NICU capacity?! And can't believe they couldn't transfer to Edinburgh or Glasgow.. Fingers crossed your little one stays inside a little longer, keep us updated ❤️

roseopose · 18/03/2023 19:34

My waters went at 34 weeks, spent 2 nights in hospital and had steroids then was sent home. I had one night at home before I had to go back in because the waters turned green (meconium) and I was induced. Had DD the next day. She spent 13 days in SCBU and has developed just fine. However, I do know people who have kept baby in longer. All the best to you Flowers

Username24680 · 18/03/2023 19:20

@ForGoodnessCake fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that OP 🤞🏼 Definitely try not to stress over it - easier said than done, I’m sure! How did you get on with the doctors today?
