Moone Boy Waiting GIF by HULU

Hey! 💛
I'm in UK and been TTC for over a year, it is hell!!! I've had doctors appointments, scans and blood tests and everything seems to be coming back to PCOS, I have most of the symptoms so it wasn't a surprise! I'm currently on the waiting list for a gynaecologist but have no idea how long I'm going to be waiting, is anyone in a similar position and if so how long did you have to wait? 💛

@SunsetsAndSandwiches it's just been pushed back to October! Annoying but suppose it could be worse.
Everything crossed this month is your month, let me know how you get on x

@NLO94x fingers crossed for the end of September coming round quickly for you.

Unfortunately no joy for us on cycle 4, today is ovulation day on cycle 5 (its actually day 18, my body seemed to take a while to respond to the letrozole this month). We have our appt to start ICSI at the start of September, so unless this month is a success that's our next step.

NLO94x · 11/08/2023 15:01

@SunsetsAndSandwiches Very much so! We've got our follow up consultation with our gynae at the end of September so should hopefully from then have an idea of what is going on!

How are you getting on? X

@NLO94x aww a holiday sounds like it was much needed! Hopefully the time waiting for the semen analysis gives you a bit more time to get your heads around it and maybe when you get your referral they can explain a bit more about why you've ended up going straight to IVF. In one way, you might be fast tracking to IVF and saving yourself a few months of no joy with ovulation induction.

Its very hard TTC generally, and especially with infertility - feels like we have no control over anything. So keep looking for the silver linings is my solution usually :)

NLO94x · 31/07/2023 11:23

@SunsetsAndSandwiches @sl7uk sorry for the late reply, 2 weeks in Spain was much needed after the news we got haha!! I was so surprised that he said we were going to go straight for IVF, I did ask if there was any other options before going straight for it, as I also kind of wanted IVF to be the last resort, but the doctor was sure that anything else wouldn't help in our case! My boyfriend has to have a phone call appointment tomorrow and they will they book him in for his next semen test, I think last time the waiting list was around 4 weeks, once we get the results depending on if anything has changed they will put the referral in. The doctor seemed to think once that's done it should be a fairly soon before we get our first consultation at either St Mary's or CREATE

@sl7uk Sorry to hear your first round hasn't worked, fingers crossed for a better out come on your next cycle xx

@NLO94x I'm so sorry you're having to go straight to IVF. Have you got an appointment booked now? Like the others on this thread, I'm surprised they aren't offering Ovulation Induction with IUI. But, they did say if my husband's count was low, we'd go straight to IVF too, so sounds like that is the next step.

My first round of Letrozole hasn't worked, no ovulation, so more waiting for a period before the next round...

SunsetsAndSandwiches · 17/07/2023 01:11

Hi @NLO94x ,

Sorry to hear you're having to go straight to IVF. I am curious that they haven't even offered you the option of trying ovulation induction with IUI if you really didn't want to start with IVF? Maybe something to ask about.

We're just on the TWW of our 4th cycle of letrozole. I had extra monitoring this time as they think I ovulated too early on 2nd cycle and no ovulation at all on 3rd cycle, so had extra scans and also had an HCG trigger shot to ensure ovulation occurred.

We have also had an appointment to discuss the possibility of IVF. I feel very torn because part of me feels like that is where we are going to end up, but another part of me would really like a "more natural" conception (sorry, I am not criticising IVF, it is an amazing thing, I just seem to have some weird thing in my head about it - probably romanticising baby making far too much/it makes me feel even more like my body has failed me! But just thought I'd be honest about my feelings because maybe others also feel the same?)

Have they given you a timeline for starting IVF? I really hope it all goes well for you

NLO94x · 07/07/2023 16:41

@KosmicK He had his first text done at the beginning of April so it will be 4 months by the time he has second one done. His count was 2 million, I did ask the question if I can try ovulation medication but he said at this point it wouldn't help our situation and IVF is our best option

OP posts:
KosmicK · 07/07/2023 16:37

Also how low is his count ? My dh also has a low count but we were still prescribed ovulation induction to try before ivf as i don't ovulate on my own either . We managed to get pregnant but it didn't stick.

KosmicK · 07/07/2023 16:36

@NLO94x 4 weeks? How long has it been ? As your supposed to wait 3 months between semen tests

NLO94x · 07/07/2023 15:13

@sl7uk Oh no, he will have to deal with mood swings!! :) fingers crossed for you I hope it has worked!

I've just had my appointment and they basically said due to my boyfriends count and me not ovulating regularly the only route really is IVF, so they are going to refer us. I was kind of expecting it but still cried when he said it I think reality hit hearing out loud! So my boyfriend is to redo his tests in about 4 weeks then depending on the result they will put the referral in xx

sl7uk · 07/07/2023 12:57

@NLO94x good luck at your appointment today! Let us know what they say in terms of next steps for you, hope whatever the next step is is speedy 🙏🏻

Letrozole has been fine for me actually! The Northisterone to induce my period made me into a crazy person, poor husband, so I was glad when ten days of that finished! If I ovulate, that is supposed to happen next week and will then find out for sure at my day 21 progesterone blood test, so we shall see! More waiting… ⏰

NLO94x · 05/07/2023 21:17

@lottieb92 I've heard people say that, I'm guessing they'll suggest having that done when I go on Friday! Sending you baby dust 🤞🏼x

lottieb92 · 05/07/2023 20:54

@NLO94x it was painful 😬but it helped me process and know I was okay to get pregnant naturally, sadly it just hasn’t happened (secondary infertility 7 years so I HAVE been pregnant and carried before!)

hycosy can sometimes increase chances for 3 months so I think by then I’ll be ready to get more help. After 2 years I think it’s time I can’t wait any more 🥲 even though I am crushed to have to do so

NLO94x · 05/07/2023 16:15

@lottieb92 Hey, that's good results! How did you find your hycosy? I've heard mixed reviews on them! Hopefully you get your bfp before that, is that your decision to wait 2 cycles or is that been recommended? X

OP posts:
lottieb92 · 05/07/2023 16:12

@NLO94x hello! Hope you’re well, I had some follicle tracking and hycosy recently… tubes clear and defo ovulating on my own, so still no sure reason I am not pregnant yet 🤣😂 I’m giving it two cycles before we start with fertility meds!

NLO94x · 05/07/2023 15:10

@sl7uk good luck, hope your procedure went okay and you haven't been in too much pain! How are you finding Letrozole? I'm okay thanks, I have my first gynae appointment on Friday so fingers crossed things start moving now x

sl7uk · 05/07/2023 15:05

@NLO94x Hello! All good here, currently on my first ever round of Letrozole after my Ovarian Drilling procedure. Had to have ten days of Norethisterone to induce a period as I still haven’t had one in 7-8 months! So we shall see what happens.

How are you getting in?! x

NLO94x · 05/07/2023 14:53

Thought I'd jump back on here to see how everyone is getting on x

NLO94x · 19/05/2023 10:29

@YorkshireTeaCup I'll take a look at that! I'm not overweight but could do with loosing a couple of pounds!

@Milkand2sugarsplease did you have to wait from 23 to 28 for your IVF or did you have a break in-between?

@SunsetsAndSandwiches I am greater Manchester so my referral will be done through Oldham hospital, how exciting, good luck!! How are you getting on

@NLO94x
Hi,
I saw you mentioned you are Manchester based, are you having your treatment at St Mary's?
I am just in the middle of my second ovulation induction cycle there.
I already knew I had PCOS so we asked for a referral before we'd started trying naturally (I hardly ever have periods so know I rarely ovulate).
GP referral sent May 2022, DH gave semen sample in July, my scans/bloods done end of Aug. Finally had our appt end of Feb (and this was with chasing them up in the end!) but basically they said we were good to start on treatment (no issues identified other than my PCOS and I'm within normal BMI) and gave us the prescription meds to take home that day!
The waiting time is really horrible so I really do sympathise, especially when you've already been trying before your referral. But hopefully you will be able to start treatment soon and I hope it works quickly for you 😊

Milkand2sugarsplease · 18/05/2023 23:30

I was diagnosed with PCOS as a teen.

23 - referred for fertility tests which determined ivf was my only option.
28 - ds1 ivf miracle arrived - first go, fresh cycle
32 - MC our darling little frozen transfer at 8 weeks.
37 - ds2 surprised us naturally.

YorkshireTeaCup · 18/05/2023 21:03

@lottieb92 yes the first day i literally thought i was going to pass out 😂 But finding it really good to broadly stick up (im a bit relaxed about it and dont stress to much if i go up to 1000cal for a day for example)

YorkshireTeaCup · 18/05/2023 20:51

There's another thread over on the weight loss board (i think its called Fast 800 anyone?) I'm on it with a different user name but we are doing weekly check ins to try and keep ourselves on it!

lottieb92 · 18/05/2023 20:38

@YorkshireTeaCup i did fast 800 for my wedding - weight fell off it was hard to start then I felt amazing by week 3

i think I’m going to get back on it this week as I wait for surgery, I have about 1 stone to get off and no harm 🤞🏻
