Hi ladies
I've looked for a thread for this but didn't find a recent one so is there anyone who would like to join?
I turned 40 in December. I have 3 older children, got married in November and my new DH and I have decided to try for a baby together. He is 49 this month.
Very concerned that our ages will be against us! We don't want to go down the road of fertility help and will probably only give it this year to see if it's meant to be! I was previously adamant I didn't want anymore babies but slowly changed my mind and now I would love one more!
I'm currently waiting for the return of AF following the depo contraceptive before I begin tracking ovulation..which I've never done before!
So that's my story in a nutshell.
Anyone else 40+ who would like to form a support group with me?

Can I join too. had a MMC in December. Turned 42 this month. Just had my first AF since and now waiting to ovulate and trying to stay sane.
Been reading everyones journeys and I hope we all have some good news this year

Holls81 · 25/01/2024 11:42

Hi all. I hope you’re all doing ok.
So, hubby and I have been to the hospital various times and for all the tests and finally had the results.
ive been told I have quite a few eggs left, especially for my age!
hubby’s swimmers are all good, (slight issue with morphology but consultant said it shouldn’t be a problem)
im ovulating on my own, weight is fine (both)
It’s great news but still so frustrating that 25 months of trying have led to no positive pregnancy tests.
😫
I have to book in for an X-ray that tells me if my tubes are blocked. Has anyone had this?

thanks x

Hariboislife · 09/01/2024 10:41

No we didn’t go as far as ivf, with the success rate at my age and the fact we had 2 children already (without issue) we couldn’t justify the cost

Gingerblueeyes · 09/01/2024 10:16

Can I Join? 41 and TTC#1 with my partner, he's 44 and has a 10yo from a previous relationship. I'm in the dreaded TWW, we DTD up to and including my fertile week and OV was 6/1. I know it's naïve to think it'll happen 1st cycle but we did everything at the right time!

Trying not to symptom spot... trying 😂

Holls81 · 16/05/2023 12:04

Hiya. I’d like to join please.
just turned 43 and being trying since I was 41.
cycle 18 and not a single positive test. Regular periods and a 21 day hormone check that came back ‘normal’.
Feeling disheartened tbh.
DH is 45
2 children conceived very quickly in mid/late 30s and 1 miscarriage between them (also conceived 1st month of trying.)
we have 1st NHS fertility appointment in a couple of weeks and I’m feeling so nervous about it.

I am also 43 but before I start TTC they found polyps so I am not sure how that could affect things. I guess we ladies have to keep remembering there is a chance - it's about 25% per year I think?

Iusedtobedontcall · 13/03/2023 19:59

Hi I’m 42 and I’ve had a MMC and TFMR after a trisomy 21 positive screening at 12 weeks in the past year. Hoping the next one will stick.

Wishing you luck on your journey

Hariboislife · 09/11/2023 20:04

We’re on our last try now. New drugs, Gonal F this time, was £400 just for that injection. Plus the other meds and supplements. We can’t justify spending this each month when the odds are so low. Keeping everything crossed but know we’re already so lucky as we have 2 boys already. What will be will be now!
also been told to not run or do too much exercise in the next couple of weeks - that’s going to be hard!

Edited

Is that via IVF?

I'd definitely like to join. It's such an anxiety inducing thing to be trying to create a new life and not knowing the journey. I am 43 so definitely need some support.

@BeckyPfromLeeds they can never seem to find ny left ovary, says its hidden from too mych gas haha always have to press down on my stomach... the brown blood is old blood so could be implantation bleeding maybe 🙂

BeckyPfromLeeds · 03/01/2024 19:50

@Supertrooper101 Thank you for the welcome. Yes, I had bloods done at my 40+ check up and convinced them to take extra to check on my hormones etc. I think (if I remember rightly) that my LH levels were slightly raised. They couldn't seem to see my right ovary on the ultrasound though they did both internal and external!!

This af is so weird as I started spotting pink/brown on Sunday, needed to use a tampon by Monday evening. Tuesday seemed kinda normal bit deffo a lot lighter than usual and today it has gone back Brown again!! Hopefully not TMI, but my last period was really heavy with lots of big clots. It's really confusing 😕

Supertrooper101 · 03/01/2024 14:35

@BeckyPfromLeeds hi, same position as age wise,42 in feb 🤦‍♀️... tbh i didnt get on with pregnacare but if its working for you thats good x have you had bloods to see where your fsh etc is at? Id maybe ring the clinic and chase them. 10mths is a long way to wait. This group is abit more active if you would like to join x https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/conception/4885487-ttc-may-2023-previous-mc-march-2023-thread-2

Hi All, I'd like to join if I can. I am 41 (42 on Friday), and we have finally decided to try for our first. It may be a long road for us as over the past 1-2 years, my cycles have been all over the place. I have had a few tests and an ultrasound, which confirmed i have a fibroid. I may also have suspected pcos and/or in peri-menopause. It's been 10 months since they referred me to the fertility clinic and I am still waiting to hear from them about an appointment.

I started taking pregnacare conception about 5 days ago, and it seemed to have brought my period on 9 days early!! Which I am happy with, to be honest, as hopefully it means I might ovulate sooner so here's to CD2 😁

Anyway, enough about me. Good luck to everyone else and big sprinkles of baby dust to all ✨️

MrsPepper82 · 30/12/2023 12:23

A got our results back from fertility clinic and there is nothing they can help us with as all is in perfect condition for both of us and I also have AMH of 30y old but just as mentioned @App13 there’s no way to know if they are healthy. But based on my lifestyle and mother’s side women’s history I should also be able to conceive. So doctor said to give nature a chance for at least 6 months and if we feel like it then we can try IVF. Since I had my hormones off balance for first 8 months and after CP also cycle where I didn’t even have a change it means only one unsuccessful cycle so of course we take those options.
Tbh I’m not sure I even want to try IVF, we already have two children so it’s not going to be an end of the world. There are many pluses sticking with 2.

App13 · 30/12/2023 11:50

Hi
If you have regular periods, regular ovulation then id say that a fertility mot is a rather expensive pointless thing.

You only know you can become pregnant if you try.

For instance I had a friend that was told she had follicles of a 32 Yr old when she was 42. She produced fragmented eggs and 0 embryos.

I had known my fertility since 32 and it was still rather the same at 41. I conceived naturally at 40,mmc , 41 had dc at 42.

So I would say if you can map your periods and know when your ovulating, you have every chance, just do the deed.

Supertrooper101 · 30/12/2023 11:45

@VioletHaze24 think its just gone quiet lol no progress my end tho. 9mths still trying 🤷‍♀️. How about you? @Sez281 has another thread thats quite active 🙂

VioletHaze24 · 30/12/2023 08:31

Hi, just wondering if this group has disbanded or if there are any updates? 😊

Wen19 · 09/11/2023 23:53

@Sez281 no I’m using the same one I use every month 🤣 I just buy refills for it. God knows I’m baffled 🫨
@Supertrooper101 🤣🤣🤣 I know I’m just gonna do it twice a day now.
and yeah they cost a bomb I’m not doing it next month ✋🏽 after this month I’m taking a more relaxed approach. 💜

Sez281 · 09/11/2023 21:57

Supertrooper101 · 09/11/2023 21:31

@Wen19 meant to say everyone ttc shud try that approch not just you lol @Sez281 am worried about the anger problems with dhea haha already get wound up with ttc lol my oh seems ok tbh. He did one from amazon so wants to compare lol av had loads of test and different scans so he feels left out lmao. How comes that comment from westy22 is in review...? Didmt she like my acupuncture comment or sumat 🤣

Lol I'd say it was just naming a place or something x

Sez281 · 09/11/2023 21:12

@Wen19 did you use the same holder? I've heard that a new holder resets your readings so it's really important to use the same one even if you've had to buy new sticks. Are you on any new vitamins that could possibly have you ovulating early?

@Supertrooper101 I still don't know if she tested my testosterone but I'll ask when I see her next week. I'm only on 25mg so figure it can't do too much harm. If I start sprouting a beard or my voice breaks I'll come off them 😂 Just read your thread about acupuncture that sounds lovely and not too expensive at all! Even if it doesn't help my fertility it might help me relax a bit 🤷‍♀️😂 How is your OH feeling about his tests? Mine was giving out that he couldn't do it at home and drop it into clinic. He soon has his tail between his legs when I showed him what my surgery entails and went on a rant about what I go through every month. 😂

Supertrooper101 · 09/11/2023 20:27

@Wen19 my days you must get through loads of them lol i do one in the morning and thats it. Well thats annoying then isnt it especially when cb says there selfs to test once on first urine. Yours should have jad flashys especially today. So no idea 🤣....i think the best solution is to dtd every other day every mth and scrap any kind of testing what so ever lol bet it would soon work lol in theory two eggs is great lol buy cd8 too imature and cd18 too mature 🤷‍♀️ well for my cycle pattern anyway lol

Hariboislife · 09/11/2023 20:24

Not IVF but ovulation induction I think it’s called. Drugs are to increase number of folicles/eggs. I did a few months with Clomid but that worked a bit too well! At one point I had 8 follicles but still no positive pregnancy. To me it seems likely that although there are eggs they aren’t of a decent quality so won’t ever fertilise.
I have to take 150ml of Gonal F every other day until Monday then I’ll be scanned. If the follicles are the right size etc then I’ll take an ovitrel injection to induce ovulation. Then I’ll take pessaries for 2 weeks to grow the lining of the womb.

Wen19 · 09/11/2023 20:15

@Supertrooper101 surly double ovulation though means more of a chance? Does it? 😁

Wen19 · 09/11/2023 20:12

Well bugger me. I’ve had 4 days of blank circles on a cb (and 3 today) I did one this morning , one and dinner and one mid afternoon.
I’ve started to feel heavy and I can feel my ovary working so I decided to do another and it’s static! 😯 how come I didn’t get a flashing one in between? 😯 I don’t usually ovulate till day 16 and it’s day 11 now

Supertrooper101 · 09/11/2023 20:10

@Hariboislife what are the drugs for, are you doing ivf or similar. I find it hard to take it steady in the tww... i never did when i got pregnant so beginning to scrap that idea now too
