Conceiving after ectopic

Can anyone share their experiences of conceiving after an ectopic?

I had one last year, medical management rather than surgery and I still have both tubes, albeit they said it might cause some residual scarring on the left tube.

Been trying to get pregnant for 3 months now which I know is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I'm going into my fertile window now and I'd love to hear some positivity from other people ❤️

I have had a healthy pregnancy before, pre-ectopic.

@lemonyfox So sorry to hear you have experienced another ectopic pregnancy. How are you feeling? Did you have to have surgery?

Hoping I might be able to get some opinions. My period is 3 days late and I have taken a couple of pregnancy tests which show very faint positives. I am around 15dpo. Shouldn't these be stronger by now? I am panicking slightly as with my first healthy pregnancy, I got a strong positive quickly where as with the last pregnancy, which was ectopic, the test was very faint.

Hi Ladies. just been reading this thread as I had an ectopic pregnancy with tube removed last November. We’ve had one successful pregnancy before this. Praying we are able to get pregnant again soon. 🙏
Really sorry to hear about having another ectopic @lemonyfox. 😞 that’s such a hard thing to go through! Hope you have the support you need 💕

Sunflower1235 · 15/04/2023 18:04

soooo sorry to hear this @lemonyfox you still have your other tube in tact right? Sending you hugs!!!

lemonyfox · 15/04/2023 17:59

I'm having another ectopic ladies 😭 the opposite side this time and it's a suspected rupture. I'm gutted.

@FingersCrossedXXX unfortunately one of them was just bad luck and stuck in the tube and the other one occurred due to previous scar tissue from a caesarean with my first born and it got stuck again. It’s terrifying and obviously all I ever did during my successful pregnancy was worry it will happen again. But try to have hope. Wish you all the best x

@AnxiousMoma @DeeCeeCherry thank you for sharing need these stories so badly

DeeCeeCherry · 20/03/2023 03:10

My Sis conceived after an ectopic. She was 38 when her daughter was born.

AnxiousMoma · 20/03/2023 03:05

Hello, so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy. They’re so scary!! I had one in 2019 and it thankfully passed naturally, so no intervention was needed. I didn’t try again for a while because I was terrified of it happening again, I’ve had 2 miscarriages previously, so felt it was only my luck that it would be another ectopic. I got pregnant again at the start of 2021 after a very short few months of “if it happens, it happens” and my baby is now 18 months old. Don’t give up and good luck 🌈

@springlike how long did it take u to conceive? So glad for your positive outcome!!! Was the ovary damaged too?

Conceived quite quickly afterwards. They removed both left tube and ovary. So there is hope for people in similar situations 🙏

lemonyfox · 19/03/2023 18:25

I'm reading all the responses, so many positive stories so thank you! X

I fell pregnant 8 months after the ectopic with DC 3 (and I had had surgery and a horrible recovery) and then conceived DC 3 and 4 within two months of trying for each. Best of luck!

Sunflower1235 · 18/03/2023 21:01

Wow!! @Calminacrisis thats so inspiring!! Thanks so much for sharing I really appreciate it. How long did it take you each time?

Calminacrisis · 18/03/2023 17:53

Hi, I had a ruptured ectopic after having one DC. I was told fertility was reduced to 50% but went on to have a further 3 DC, including one when I was 39 with no need for intervention. Good luck!

outnumbered77 · 18/03/2023 17:37

@Sunflower1235 yes he did say that. Honestly made no difference for me. I had two pregnancies previous to the ectopic both conceived fairly easily. After the ectopic I conceived within a couple of months. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in miscarriage but I conceived two more babies easily after that.

Sunflower1235 · 18/03/2023 15:22

@outnumbered77 did your surgeon really say that :( mine said only slightly reduced! How long did it take u to conceive again if you don’t mind me asking?

Sunflower1235 · 18/03/2023 15:18

@lemonyfox just saw your post and I have been searching all of mjmsnet for someone who has been through a MMC and an ectopic- I had my tube removed a few days ago following an ectopic, going to give it till my first period to start trying again. Really worried about conceiving again I’m turning 33 this weekend :(

@lemonyfox 😂😂 men!! I remember saying to my OH about lots of action over fertile week. He gave it all the ‘fine by me’ smugness. Quickly wears off! It does get monotonous though. It’s been nice having a break from proper TTC to get our spark back. I’m sure I’ll wear him down again in no time 😜.
Hopefully he’s found some energy for you!

Neither of us could be bothered yesterday, scheduled sex is so unsexy 😂 especially when ovulation decides to kindly be a few days late. We'll try and squeeze one more in tonight, think ovulation will be tomorrow, then honestly that's it. If it doesn't work then on to next month!

Positive story - I had a ruptured ectopic in April 2004. Removed an ovary and a tube and I was very unwell and lucky to pull through this.
Have since had 2 healthy children, one turns 18 this month!
I was so upset when it happened and thought that I would never have children.
Good luck to you all x

FingersCrossedXXX · 13/03/2023 15:33

@lemonyfox Haha Oh no, I am sure you can convince him to go again. It is so unsexy when you are trying to conceive though, isn't it!

I had my peak on Saturday and we DTD both Saturday and Sunday so fingers crossed it works! Now have the dreaded wait.

Rainbowwishing · 12/03/2023 17:50

@lemonyfox hope you’ve had a nice busy fertile week 😜. I think I’m going to try and track a bit, see if I can see what’s going on.

I buy the big packs of OPKs off Amazon, they're really cheap, no harm done in testing for a while and seeing what's going on. Fingers crossed!
