TTC - 7 months after miscarriage - am I ovulating/do I have a short leutal phase?

Hi everyone!

This is my first post so I am a little nervous as I am usually the girl watching all the threads but here goes!!

My husband and I conceived our first month of trying last May and very sadly had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks....which was devastating! I had a D&C and we started TTC a month after the miscarriage. It has been 7 months now and we are still not pregnant! 3 months ago I have started accupucture to help fertility and relax me and it did bring forward my ovulation to day 16 for the last 3 months however it has now dropped back to day 20/21 - the same as before my miscarriage. I usually have a leutal phase of 11 days.

I wondered if anyone else has had a miscarriage and not conceived quickly? And I wondered if an 11 day leutal phase is too short and whether I am ovulating properly if the days keep changing? I have attached my Natural Cycles charts for the last 5 months to help (dates at the top of charts!). I am worried I have low progesterone too!

Would appreciate any discussion on this as finding it all very overwhelming and hard at the minute!

Thanks x

Hey @wudluv2beamum same to you. It’s a tough thing to go through. I had day 21 progesterone tests which came back as good so that’s not a problem. I need to get my oh booked in for a sperm test and we likely have to go private for that as the local hospital is not doing it… so need to get that sorted soon really. Have you had any? I think I may see if I can get day 3 tests done too.

Hi @Annapolis35 thanks so much for your message and so sorry to hear you are also struggling to conceive after a mmc. It is so hard and such a tough thing to go through that the thought of a rainbow baby really takes up a lot of headspace. Have you had any chats with doctors/bloods etc? Sending you love x

Hey I just wanted to add I have similar stories to both of you too so definitely not alone. I caught second month last year in February but had a mmc at 8/9 weeks in April too. I also have not caught again yet and have a luteal phase of 11/12 days as well. It’s really hard as everyone says you’re more fertile after a mc but that just hasn’t been the case for me. It’s heartbreaking every month but trying to be positive and hope it will happen.

@TTCRainbow thank you so much for randomly clicking on this thread...and the essay is very much welcomed!!!

our stories are so similar - it feels comforting not being the only one going through this! All my best friends are now pregnant and if they have sadly had a miscarriage they have conceived very quickly afterwards which is magical for them but it does make it harder to get your head around why it isnt happening doesnt it?

Yeah I keep reading differernt things on leutal phase length and sometimes it says 12-17 days or 10-17 so hopefully I am am okay or just on the cusp of being okay on that front anway!

So we are on supplements - I am on the Zita West ones (almost bankrupting me!) and husband is on proceive! We have used some conceive plus this month and previous months but is pre-seed meant to be better? will certainly give it a go if it is :)

Have you been to the doctor and asked for bloods or anything or still at the trying naturally and waiting until the 1 year of trying stage?

Honestly the due date and not being pregnant on that due date has been the hardest thing about the last 7 months and I am so sorry you are going through the same - I am sending only positive vibes your way!! xxx

Hey! Clicked your thread randomly and we've really similar experience...

Me and OH also fell pregnant in May last year, two weeks after i stopped my pill so technically wasn't 'trying' yet but was over the moon it happened so quick. We then also had MC around but around 8/9 weeks, didn't need D&C but after bleeding stopped my cycles returned back to normal right away.. it's now been 7/8 months and nothing! This cycle and the cycle before was my first tracking with OPK on Premom and my ovulation day last month was CD13 but this month CD15 not as late as yours but i did panic thinking it wasn't going to happen! Anyone i know that has been through MC/the same all seem to have been pregnant again within 3 months so its been really hard for nothing to happen for us yet, plus you have probably been the same and the pressure of falling/being pregnant before due date arrived was subconsciously stressing me out and really disheartened and emotional every month with BFN or AF arriving.

I think its ok for ovulation day to change and leutal phase seems to be classed as healthy 10 - 17 days! So you could be overthinking it (i do it all the time).

Have you started you and your husband on any vitamins/supplements or tried anything else? We both started taking Cod Liver Oil, CoQ10 & Vitamin D3 and i take Active Folic.. this month we also used Preseed for the first time as i kept seeing people saying 'dont know if it was a coincidence but use preseed this time' I'm currently 10DPO and AF is due Friday/Saturday so will keep you updated if any of that worked!

If you're not already i would get the Easy@Home ovulation strips and download the Premom app to track LH levels along side your Natural Cycles because on ovulation day your temperature dips then day after rises and on your chart it looks like that may happen before what Natural cycles has predicted although it does look like you are DTD enough to cover lol!

Sorry for essay xx
