TWW - Testing Around 1st March

Creating a thread for anyone close to ovulation or already in the TWW! I find this journey easier speaking to people going through the same and on the same timeline. We are trying for baby #1 after a MC end of June/July, we was going with the flow but after nothing happening we decided to start tracking ovulation last month and this month i started tracking BBT as well. This month is also our first month using Preseed after I saw so many people say it helped!

I am currently 3DPO - Ovulation was on cycle day 15 confirmed by BBT.

TWW - Testing Around 1st March
UnwieldyRhombus · 23/02/2023 15:09

@Luna0905 I got weirdly impatient and emotional all of a sudden earlier today and this was not what I was expecting😵and yep, that's me being convinced I could see something on a cheapie, trying another one, grabbing an early detection Clearblue and having my husband agree there was a line there, and then going out and dropping £££ on a digital early detection test to confirm we weren't crazy. Hey, I'm a scientist by trade and you can't make firm conclusions on the back of just one experiment 😉

I've never tested before the expected day of period, so I don't know what to think. Given I'm only 9DPO (or CD24), I'm thinking possibly either
(a) I ovulated earlier than I thought especially given that the colour progression didn't seem quite consistent (I put that down to PCOS at the time)
(b) I think I may have had chemical pregnancies/unknown early losses before, given that I've had 2 cycles with similar symptoms to now and I was convinced I was pregnant but wouldn't let myself test until expected period and then period came roughly on time but SUPER heavy, long and painful to the extent that I wondered whether I should be seeking medical attention.

That said...I'm very happy. Cautiously happy. I'll try and hold off testing against until expected period on Tuesday but even if it does turn out to be chemical, it's a positive sign.

Sorry for the essay, I have a lot of thoughts and I'm all in my feelings!

Best of luck to all of you whether testing now or waiting to test! Only a few days now xxx

Hi all,

First cycle TTC and AF due 7 March. So I'm only a few DPO. That said, boobs are very sore which is not a usual symptom for me for either ovulation or PMS so am cautiously hopeful.

Going to try not test until next weekend but have two FRER so we'll see how long I can hold out.

Luna0905 · 23/02/2023 12:04

Welcome @Neve21 @Lucyloox @T4Opal @Winniechess - hope you’re all doing okay and managing to stay distracted in the TWW!
Sorry to hear about your MMC @T4Opal got everything crossed for your rainbow.

@Winniechess 8dpo would be early to test so it probably wouldn’t show up anyway. DH and I have made a conscious effort not to drink at all this month to see if it would help at all. We don’t drink much anyway but do have the odd glass of wine. I’m out on Saturday night with friends but I’m planning to be the designated driver as my excuse even if I don’t get a BFP before then. Can you do the same? xxx

UnwieldyRhombus · 22/02/2023 18:57

I'm doing low(ish) carb to help with PCOS too. I was doing the same when I got pregnant with #1 and I'm trying to recreate everything I did right that time in the hopes that it'll happen again 😅

Tomorrow will be 9DPO/5 days before expected period and my early detection tests say they can detect it from then, but I fear I'll be setting myself up for disappointment as my boobs are sore but it doesn't feel like they're sore enough?! Last time I made myself wait until the day of my expected period, so maybe I should just do that again? I haven't used early detection tests before (been trying for a few cycles and usually just wait until my period comes and then get sad about that discovery, lol) but I feel like I want to know either way as soon as possible, you know? It might be too early to tell though.

Good luck everyone! We're all still in. Let's hope it's this month for as many of you as possible ❤

Oh that’s good that low carb has helped you previously! All pregnancies can be different so you might not feel the same as you did last time. Got everything crossed for you!

Did you test yet or have you managed to stay strong? I wish I could stay strong but I guess that testing makes me feel like I can control something as I just like to know what’s going on xxx

Kirstylvsya · 22/02/2023 14:08

@Luna0905 please excuse all the typos above I hope you understood lol

What symptoms on PCOS do you have? I only found out I had it after my first when trying for my second hence why I needed clomid. I definitely think the weight loss helped me first time.

I've tested this morning again and BFN I just have a feeling tho, could be completely wrong and possibly haven't even ovulated at all. Going to try BBT next month just to confirm.

Ordered some cheapies from eBay will prob do them every day, I wasn't fussed about testing until I came in here, now I'm addicted. I also drink 2L water a day minimum so FMU is going to be my best bet.

A don’t worry I completely understood!
My PCOS symptoms are irregular periods, excess hair and acne and I’ve always had a problem with my weight. What are your symptoms?

Did you test again? I’m always so bad with testing, did one this morning at 5am (😂) and was also BFN. DH has just ordered some FRER which will arrive later today so I can do one tomorrow at 11dpo 🤞🏼🤞🏼 I just have a feeling this month too, same as I did last month with my CP, I’ve never felt this any other month. My BBT went up again today too so feeling hopeful still xxx

UnwieldyRhombus · 23/02/2023 10:51

@Kirstylvsya Mine are brutal too and it really just adds insult to injury having such a terrible period when you're trying to conceive! That's a really good sign that they're getting more regular for you though!

@TTCRainbow Lol, I do not recommend the cervix checks! Mine keeps switching between high and low, firm and soft. It's mocking me 😅 I don't even check for open/closed as the one time I attempted that it seemingly got mad at me and started cramping like crazy like 'do not touch me' 😂

TTCRainbow · 23/02/2023 09:52

@Sb86 Honestly December/January was the worst for me, i felt desperate and then as we was approaching our date i thought about it all and how i've probably been stressing myself out subconsciously and since then i've just been so much happier and relaxed and just keep telling myself it will happen soon with out the pressure of me wanting it to by a certain date. We've got this!!

@Winniechess I don't drink at all so cant help with that one! But what i've learn so far is to not let it completely control my life and miss out when it might now be our time. Soooo many people i know didn't know they was pregnant and had been drinking while they was and still had completely fine pregnancy's and babies, we just overthink it as we are tracking every moment!

@T4Opal so sorry to hear about your missed MC :( Don't let them things think it is stopping it from happening, we will get our rainbow baby's so very soon!

@Lucyloox My is due next weekend and 5DPO today! How long have you been trying for baby #2? Pretty much no symptoms too but not trying not to think about them this month and every month i convince myself i am and im tired of it 😫

Hey @Neve21 Doing good and love that there is so many of us in this together and timeline. Putting out to the universe that all of us on this thread get BFP this cycle 👶⭐

@UnwieldyRhombus LOL at your cervix checks - i have actually tried to put middle finger up but i just can work out what i am feeling for and cringe myself out!! I've been feeling the opposite and really happy and energetic (although i did fall asleep by 9pm last night lol) Why does PMS have to be so similar 😫

OP posts:
Kirstylvsya · 23/02/2023 09:26

@UnwieldyRhombus

I tested this morning again BFN as expected. Don't know why I do it.

My periods used to be non existent but definitely get better the healthier I am. This is the best they have been have had one a few months in a row, they are brutal tho, always have been, I have to use pads the length of my arm to hold it, the ones that elderly use. I normally have severe PMS then when the flow starts I'm back to normal.

Sore lower back, nips slightly tender, PMS slightly (easily angered!) feels like AF is on way.

UnwieldyRhombus · 23/02/2023 09:21

Hi @T4Opal, @Lucyloox and @Neve21, hope you're all doing well and the waiting isn't too rough.

@Kirstylvsya Haha, I was the same before I had my first, no way was I putting a finger in there to touch it. Then I think I lost all my squeamishness after a very very long labour and now I'm like I should have done checks last time I was TTC, heck, I should've taken a picture to compare now 😂

My periods are regular-ish, generally every 28 or 29 days, but sometimes it'll turn up on day 25 ish. They're usually quite long too, almost overlapping with the fertile period some months. How are yours?

I'm so weepy today. Probably pre-menstrual. Boobs still sore and a bit nauseous but I think my body is telling me to get ready for my period, and the disappointment is making me feel even sadder!

Neve21 · 22/02/2023 22:10

Hi all,
joining this! I think I’m currently 7dpo going by ovulation tests! Hope everyone is doing well! The TWW is so difficult ❤️

Lucyloox · 22/02/2023 21:58

Hi everyone. I’m TTC baby #2 my AF is due 7th March. I think I’m 2dpo. No symptoms as such. How has everyone else been? Xx

Kirstylvsya · 22/02/2023 21:26

@UnwieldyRhombus I can't check cervix. Even the word cervix creeps me out ha! I've had some CM whiteish not sure what that means? It's so confusing isn't it; PMS and early pregnancy are so alike. Boobs still slightly sore. Mood was great and I had lots of energy today, apparently first sign of early pregnancy is fatigue because of progesterone rising, so that's making me think I'm not. Have some cramping also as if AF is going to show, bottom of my back especially. Who knows, with PCOS anything is possible. Did you/do you have regular cycles?

T4Opal · 22/02/2023 20:49

Hi all can I join please?
I’m hoping to hold out and not test until Saturday when I’ll be 10dpo, although period is due on 1st March.
I’m trying for my second, my eldest is 4 years old and we’ve been trying since last Jan, with a missed miscarriage in September- found at 9 weeks but embryo didn’t develop past 6 🙁
My period returned in November and this is my 3rd cycle properly trying. I’m tracking bbt and also used preseed. Hoping this will be the month but concerned I’m 35, 2 stone over my recommended bmi, and work in a high stress job!

UnwieldyRhombus · 22/02/2023 19:32

That's true, I should probably just wait!

If you've got cramps but no PMS, that could definitely be a good sign! I've just had a weird attack of cramps, which for me either means AF is imminent and several days early, or the other one...

I had a quick check to see if there was any blood around the cervix as there usually is when I start cramping as the intro to my period (side note: gotta stop washing my hands with freezing water before examining my cervix, hahaha) and got EWCM instead which made me say 'hmm' out loud. Cramps and EWCM 8DPO makes me think I still have a chance, even if I don't 'feel' pregnant. Cervix feels quite low and open so maybe period is on the way but I never checked my cervix last pregnancy and I know it's not an exact science.

Ah who knows. I'm so had at the TWW 😂

Kirstylvsya · 22/02/2023 19:08

@UnwieldyRhombus I would wait, easier said than done I should take my own advice! But implantation can happen right up to 12DPO so the early detection tests are only good if you have already implanted. Last time I got a BFN on 10DPO put BFP on 12DPO and it was still light, if you don't get a line remember your not out until AF shows.

My lower back is killing tonight and feel crampy like she's on her way, even when I cough it feels funny. So strange. What's throwing me is I don't have PMS, I get it so bad I was thinking I had PMDD which is severe PMS. Baby dust Flowers

Winniechess · 22/02/2023 19:02

I definitely prefer to wait and see if my period arrives, this month however I’ll be 8dpo when I have a night out planned. I’m tempted to test early to see if I should drink or not. I’m so conflicted, what are you ladies doing regarding drinking whilst ttc?

UnwieldyRhombus · 22/02/2023 18:57

Sb86 · 22/02/2023 18:09

@Luna0905 oh I know tell me about it haha we've tried different approaches when it comes to dtd and like you this month we have dtd every day since cd8 to today cd14 🤣🤣 most of those days twice! I'm shattered haha. We shall see it works or not, I know they don't recommend it but worth a shot.

Your symptoms sound positive so hopefully you'll be getting your BFP very soon 🤞🏼

Sb86 · 22/02/2023 18:03

@TTCRainbow oh my god, that's exactly what I've been saying that I wanted to be pregnant before our due date in May. I got a really faint positive on a test this month but started bleeding 2 days later when I went to test again but not thinking too much of that to be honest as the only thing I felt was really tender nipples. We do put too much pressure on ourselves but it's so hard not to when you want something so bad especially when you thought it was happening and you have a loss. Its heartbreaking either way when you're trying and the test says negative 😔

Really wishing everyone the best of luck for a BFP 🥰

Superstorefan123 · 22/02/2023 15:38

Hi all - joining as period due 1st March (currently 8DPO). Realllllly hoping to hold out until period (or near) to test as I’m not sure my heart can handle a string of squinters! Just want to test once and be sure.

TTC no.1 after an ectopic pregnancy in June 2022 and a chemical in January 2023. This is my first cycle on clomid so really hoping for a miracle!

Kirstylvsya · 22/02/2023 14:08

@Luna0905

No Decided this year is going to be my year, getting healthy in general. Not necessarily TTC tho that would be an added bonus! Got myself a coach and a training plan, exercise 5 times a week, 3 gym 2 walks etc and stay under my calories. Also Werner myself off my anti depressants at the end of last year and stopped smoking in Dec. I'm an all or nothing girl so just going for it.

Leto is ment to be fab but I couldn't be that strict.

Have you any signs or symptoms? When will you test?

That’s amazing, you’ve done so well doing all of that at once!
My consultant recommended keto specifically for pcos but I do more low carb as I like to have a bit of flexibility to still enjoy life. It doesn’t feel as strict when you’re used to it! Massive bonus I can have cream in my coffee!

i have all the symptoms - cramps, nausea, food tastes funny, indegestion, sore boobs, mood swings, back ache so hoping this is all going in the right direction 🤞🏼 I tested this morning, obvs it was a BFN, will test again tomorrow on 10dpo. Are you going to test tomorrow too? Xxx

Luna0905 · 22/02/2023 12:46

hi! How’s everyone feeling today?

@NWnature welcome and thank you! Sorry to hear about your CP too 😞 I had exactly the same ovulating on CD17 after the CP, it wasn’t as delayed as I thought it might be.

You're very strong if you can hold out until missed AF - you can do it!

@DiamondApricot hey and welcome! It’s such a tough one on whether to test on your bday, not sure I could hold out but I guess you can see how your symptoms are beforehand? Sometimes I just like to know!

@Kirstylvsya welcome! Sorry to hear of your MC ☹️Well done on the weight loss, that’s amazing! Are you following any particular diet?
I started keto in June and have lost 2stone so far, another 10lbs to go before I’d be eligible for IVF on NHS (hopefully won’t need if this is my month!) but my personal goal is to lose another 2 stone.
we’re on the same DPO too 🙌🏼

@TTCRainbow glad you’re feeling good but got some signs there- crossing everything for you! I know, it is good to take the pressure off symptom spotting but it is hard to ignore everything that’s going on.
yes thinking the same that won’t need the preseed!
Since I’ve started talking to friends about my pcos, I’ve discovered so many people have it, it’s crazy. I had to go private to get mine diagnosed and I’m so glad i did because I can now manage the symptoms - I knew id had it for a while but the bloods the GP did, didn’t show anything wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Sb86 will keep you posted! The only thing we did again this month was DTD every day from like CD8 to CD17. I know it’s not recommended but we did this last month while we were on holiday and got a positive test so thought it would be worth it again this month - we have nothing to lose at this point (it is knackering though DTD everyday in working life 😂)

Soooo I did an internet cheapie test this morning which was obviously a BFN at 9dpo, with all my best efforts I couldn’t hold off 😂.
My symptoms are all still there (almost cried at work again yesterday and burst into tears as soon as DH got home 😩) but my BBT did drop a bit this morning🤷🏻‍♀️. Testing again tomorrow morning 😂
