@SMG1992 I have asked for a phone call from the gp (can't book bloods without their say so) so I'm waiting for them to ring me and I'm going to ask for the full set of bloods. That's a really good idea about thyroid too, I have never had that checked but looking at the symptoms I seem to fit quite a few, thank you xx hope you are ok, it's horrible isn't it.

Ttcpph · 15/02/2023 11:53

@Brokenpancreas94 im so sorry for your loss and the trauma you went through afterwards. I had a MMC too and didn't find out till the first scan. It is heartbreaking.

give yourself some time. Your body has just been through something traumatic so try to be patient (easier said than done, I know)

@HollyGolightly4 so sorry for your loss. My first pregnancy ended in a mmc too at the first scan. It is so difficult to come to terms with. I totally understand you wanting bloods done - I was the same. I would suggest a TSH thyroid test, as I understand that thyroid problems can sometimes lead to mc. I had that tested after mine and came back normal. Didn't help in providing me with a "why" for what had happened but it has given me an element of comfort going forwards to at least know "it's not X".

good luck with gp, hope they are understanding and helpful

Ttcpph · 15/02/2023 11:45

@Chellooo how long have you been charting for?

do you temp at the same time every morning first thing? I.E you need to be laid down, and not have got up, had a drink, done anything at all.

mare you using a fertility thermometer, 2 decimal places?

do you do mouth or vaginally?

all these things will impact so just trying to get a better picture before I reply properly.

SMG1992 · 15/02/2023 10:29

@Brokenpancreas94 I'm so sorry for your loss and youe experience. I too found out about my MC at my 12 week scan and it completely messes with your head and then ther are the physical post MC issues to deal with again. I hope you are feeling better and good luck for this cycle, it's probably too early for a BFP so all hope is not lost.

@HollyGolightly4 I'm sorry about you MC las month, I hope you are feeling a bit better. Can I ask if you jus tasked your GP for bloods to be done?
I also had a MC in Jan, my 1st one and didn't think to ask the GP for bloods as assumed it would just be a no, but would love to know if I have any deficiencies. I paid for a private thyroid test as I wanted to rule that one out straight away due to family thyroid issues - so might be worth asking them to check that too.

Hi, everyone. I had a Missed Miscarriage in October, actually found out at my 12 week scan in September that there was no heartbeat. I decided to go for the 'natural' method, as I started bleeding 2 days after the scan and EPU agreed. I passed some clots about a week or 2 later and that's what I thought was the baby...I carried on bleeding but with virtually no clots...fast forward to middle of October and about 3am I woke up with horrible contraction pain which lasted nearly 2 hours and then stopped. I called EPU the next morning who suggested taking a pregnancy test, it was extremely faint so they classed it as a negative pregnancy test and decided the cramps weren't connected to my miscarriage and told me to call my GP, called my GP who wasn't happy with EPU at all, and called them herself and she got me a scan for the wednesday. However, that night I woke again about 4am with the horrible contractions but they just got worse and worse and the bleeding was getting heavier. My partner called 111 and a doctor called back within 10 mins and he sent out an ambulance by this time, I was having contractions every few minutes and the blood was just soaking through pads within 30 mins. Ambulance arrived and I got gas and air which helped a little bit, after being in A&E for about 2 hours, I passed the baby on the bed on my own, and the pain stopped immediately.
Anyway, I am now on month 3 of TTC and just seem to be failing, this current cycle was the first time of using Ovulation test sticks, which I took on day 12 of my cycle and it was positive, so we had sex, and again a couple of days after I think it was. I am on Ferrous Feritine for iron as my iron levels were low at my last blood test in January. I am now on Day 32 of my current cycle, and I did a pregnancy test this morning (probably too early) but it was negative anyway. My cycles are usually between 30-32 days long, so I will probably come on my period later, but I am just feeling so defeated/deflated, as in the past I seem to have fallen pregnant rather quickly. I have a 6 year old daughter and fell within the first month of trying for her, but in regards to the last pregnancy we wasn't actively trying so I guess I cannot really say.
Sorry for rambling on xxx

@HollyGolightly4 Maybe do vitamin d too? Welcome and sorry for your loss :( At this stage I don't think you'd need any more intensive tests however. Most people only miscarry once before having a successful pregnancy. Fingers crossed your next bean is sticky :)

Thank you 😊

It's been such a whirlwind, my emotions are all over the place.

Hi everyone 👋

I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks at the end of January. It's my first time. I've managed to book a telephone consultation with the GP today because I want bloods doing (I'm definitely b12 deficient). In your wisdom please, is there anything I should ask for/mention?

Thank you 💕

TheBirdintheCave · 15/02/2023 08:27

@Chellooo Hmm... I think it depends on what happens over the course of the next few days. It might shoot up tomorrow.

Chellooo · 15/02/2023 08:10

Ladies can I ask your opinion please? This chart doesnt look promising does it for ovulation?

@MrsC2018. Crossing everything for you 🤞 sending all the luck in the world your way 🌈

MrsC2018 · 14/02/2023 18:58

@Mannymoomin @Ttcpph thanks, it's always easier to be wise and positive with what others should do rather than yourself! I also have teens that absolutely think I'm a nobhead so I won't get too big headed for sure!

No change for me, the update from the MDT today was for me to go in for an ultrasound again on Monday with the plan that if there's no heartbeat it will be treated as a miscarriage and I'll be offered surgery. If there is a heartbeat then they'll arrange an MRI to determine where it is in relation to the C-section scar, if it's attached then I'll need to terminate due to the risks to both baby and I, if it's not attached then they may offer me monitoring to see how the sac grows because if it goes up into the uterine cavity where it should have been all along then it could be viable. I think the odds are against us, but it's more of a chance than I was given on Sunday night where I was prepped for termination so just got to wait this out and see what happens.

Ttcpph · 14/02/2023 18:20

@Mannymoomin and @MrsC2018
thank you for the words of wisdom and positivity. I have used that tool before actually, but had forgotten about it. It's hard not to think the worst but hopefully you're right and next time will be the one 💕

@Mannymoomin
Really sorry about your losses. It is particularly hard when a would-be due date is around the corner so I'm so sorry AF arrived for you... it's just so frustrating isn't it. Time off from stressing and worrying about TTC, even if it's just a month off might work wonders for you mentally- I hope so. Be kind to yourself, eat all the foods we're supposed to avoid and enjoy a tipple if that's your thing.

Mannymoomin · 14/02/2023 18:12

@MrsC2018 thank you lovely, you are so full of wisdom, your Dh and dc are very lucky to have you, hope you are doing ok too xx

MrsC2018 · 14/02/2023 18:09

@Ttcpph Tommy's have a miscarriage tool if you look on their website - it's takes a load of stats from you and gives you a percentage chance of a further miscarriage based on their research and compares you to the rest of the population. Have a look at their pages, I find it easy to read and clear.

@Mannymoomin some days are definitely more tough than others. Being kind to yourself is more than having a bath and eating chocolate, it's also having boundaries to protect your mental health and allowing yourself to take time and space from things that drain and cause you stress. Hopefully a few days with the kids will give you a much needed reset to have the headspace to try again this month if that's what you want

Chellooo · 14/02/2023 18:07

@FfoxRedN @MrsC2018 oh of course now I've come down with an absolutely stinking cold and just want to crawl into bed... we've dtd the past 3 nights so am wondering if I skip tonight does it really mess up our chances? Just wanna crawl into bed 😭

Mannymoomin · 14/02/2023 17:56

@Ttcpph its hard not to look at stats, but honestly each pregnancy is different, you’re as likely to miscarry or carry to term as anyone else.
The anxiety is really real though, and mc is really draining even months later.

AF arrived for me today, and feeling really shit tbh, I should be pregnant, either 6 months if I count the first mc or 8/9 weeks if I count the CP last month.
I think I’m going to take a step back from ttc and just enjoy life a little bit, I’ve struggled a lot over the years, like most people, with quite severe depression, I really don’t want to spiral down that hole again as it’s a horrible place and all the obsessiveness probably doesn’t help in trying to avoid it.
So I’m just going to let my hair down, enjoy myself and plan some nice days out with the teenagers.

MrsC2018 · 14/02/2023 17:53

@CB23CB sorry to hear of your loss Flowers
Are the pregnancy tests that you're using, the one taken on the 28th and then 14th, the same brand or sensitivity? It is possible to catch pregnant again before having a period, hopefully you're one of the lucky ones

Ttcpph · 14/02/2023 17:48

@TheBirdintheCave thank you 💕 I need to try and stay positive but I have an anxious mind so that's easier said than done!

TheBirdintheCave · 14/02/2023 17:43

@Ttcpph No, if you've had one miscarriage your odds of it happening again are the same 1 in 4. Hopefully you strike it lucky next time.

CB23CB · 14/02/2023 17:22

Hi everyone

So I recently had a MC with my first pregnancy.
Had a D&C on 17th Jan and took a test on 28th Jan which was a clear negative.
We started trying again from this negative test.
Today (14th Feb) I've taken a test that has come back as positive.
I think I'll take another tomorrow and see if it's as strong before I contact the hospital.
Could I be pregnant so quickly after the procedure?

Thanks in advance xxxx

Ttcpph · 14/02/2023 17:18

I have a question on miscarriage following my MMC in October...

so, the stats say 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage, so a 25% chance of any given pregnancy resulting in a MC.

the stats then go on to say that mmc is between 1-5% (lucky me!)

the stats also say that around 1% of women suffer from recurring MC.

because I was an unlucky 1-5% who suffered a MMC, does that mean I'm also more likely in the recurrent MC group?

i.E do I have a high chance of MC next pregnancy because I had a MMC last time?

im just so nervous and filled with dread of all the potential pain I might have to go through with another MC. I guess I'm after reassurance but I realise I'm probably never going to get any reassurance...

thanks everyone

FfoxRedN · 14/02/2023 16:03

@MrsC2018 even hearing your experience of the access fertility choice has made me think of this for the future, we had already looked into it anyway but useful to know it did save you money too. I agree though, it does just feel like super shit luck. That's what I'm moving on with anyway 🙏🏼.
@Chellooo yay for ovulation 🙌🏻 xx

@Chellooo ahh nothing better than seeing that static when you're sick to death of having sex 🤣🙈 best of luck for you getting a valentines baby!

TheBirdintheCave · 14/02/2023 10:21

@MrsC2018 Ooh ok that's interesting. I'll definitely shop around then.
