@Fallulah i had my day 21 bloods done yesterday to measure progesterone to check I am ovulating- let us know how you get on? I have been making notes on my phone like a crazy woman of all my symptoms, cycle dates and ovulation test results as flo for me is abit too average with its predictions (it says I ovulate CD14- this month was CD21!) I’ve found it’s worth taking as much info as possible to help move things along quicker - hope it goes okay 💕

@SaltedChoco if it’s any consultation I had 6 days of flashing smileys and nearly threw the stick out the window!! I got my static about 7 days in but I’ve read somewhere on here it can take a lot longer - I think CB recommend to only do 9 days of flashing before giving up but I saw a previous poster on another thread get her static after 20 days of trying so worth giving it a go! Wishing you good luck and your peak arrives soon xxx

Sierra26 · 15/02/2023 07:12

@SaltedChoco good timing, I was about to jump on and ask about prolactin. I’m also hoping for static smiley today!!

i had some tests last month to investigate my pre-AF spotting. Have appt tomorrow to discuss, but I got my lab results through yesterday ahead of that.

Most looks good, and my internal ultrasound was all clear, but I have very high prolactin levels (530ish) and think I will be referred for macroprolactin test (whatever that is).

google tells me high prolactin can contribute to fertility issues and can unbalance estrogen and progesterone. So I wonder if this is the root of my problem. I’m not on any medication but do a lot of high intensity exercise which can apparently contribute…

Anyone have any experience of that…? I’m hoping it’s mild and that I’m still ovulating :/

Tophy124 · 14/02/2023 22:21

@SaltedChoco oh just clicked what you are saying!! I only use the clear blue ovulation kit that shows smileys on the 2 days you have a surge as I had issues with the ones that flash xx

Tophy124 · 14/02/2023 22:20

@SaltedChoco Have you had any smileys? I’m new to the thread. Hopefully your appointment will go well! xx

SaltedChoco · 14/02/2023 20:31

Hello everyone. Day 5 of flashing... I am sick of seeing that little flashy face... just give me a static already! 😫

I had an appointment with my psychiatrist today to discuss my meds and the potential impact on pregnancy. That's a worry for another day, but one of them (olanzapine) can cause you to not ovulate (due to increasing levels of prolactin). I had all my bloods done last week, I have a scan on Friday, then will see my gynae the following week for all the results. Feel quite sick about it all now, if I don't see a static smiley soon I guess we can assume I'm not ovulating then. And that's really upsetting as I don't feel able to come off my meds.

Babydustthisyear · 14/02/2023 20:13

Hi everyone, I was on last thread, Cycle Day 15 Cycle 2 Ttc, I am waiting for Smiley on ovulation test I think it will be tomorrow I was two days late last cycle and my ovulation seems to have moved as I ovulated CD15 last month. Last month I had no EWCM, this month Iv had it a lot. Baby dust for all of us x

Tophy124 · 14/02/2023 17:17

@Fallulah i would!! My fertility dr wanted to know as much info as I could give her. A HSG is a type of test that checks your tubes for any blockages xx

Fallulah · 14/02/2023 16:57

@Tophy124 Yes to the ultrasound. Done in the summer of 2022 with a day 3 blood test and all normal. I’ll do some research into HSG, thanks!

is it worth taking a timeline, printing out my cycles from Flo or will they think I’m over prepared/ weird?

Tophy124 · 14/02/2023 16:31

@Fallulah I haven’t had cd 21 bloods done, but have that done an internal ultrasound or a HSG? I’d ask about those next and if the bloods can be repeated on the correct day xx

Tophy124 · 14/02/2023 16:30

@Superstorefan123 thank you!! Already my brain is like ‘do it and you can get pregnant the next month!’

Im terrified the HSG will show IVF is the only option as I have a 2yr old and my husband doesn’t want to pay for or go through IVF. I’d be willing to consider it. So it will make my marriage really rocky to be honest.

Fallulah · 14/02/2023 16:19

I’m off to the doctor tomorrow for a routine appointment to discuss my ‘day 21’ blood tests. I posted up the thread about how these were actually done at the wrong time and gave the impression I’m not ovulating but I’m pretty sure I am.

Any key questions I should ask?

I’m pretty sure she’s just going to tell me to lose weight but we’ve been TTC since Easter 2021 so surely something else is in order? We won’t qualify for fertility help in terms of ivf because I’m 42 and my partner has an 18 year old.

TunnocksTCake · 14/02/2023 15:50

@Floralsandsmiles Thank you :) CD 14 does sound about right for your cycle length to be fair, if youre worried about missing it I guess you could just DTD EOD throughout from hen your period ends then you will be covered!
Fingers crossed you get a noticeable peak though, its so annoying when you cant pinpoint it.

OK, thank-you @TunnocksTCake ! Will keep tracking and doing what I'm doing xxx

@Floralsandsmiles How long are your cycles, and what day are you on? I wouldnt trust the apps predicted ovulation day - they put day 14 as that is 'average' but not many of us are average. I was also wondering this month if my ovulation day would move as I had the opposite - a short 3 day period - and it hasnt moved at all, and actually checking back through my cycles I have had long periods too and it hasnt affected O by more than 1 day.
try not to worry, Im sure everything is fine and you ovulate later than the 'average'
I am now in my tww after the most obvious LH rise I've had in a looong time. I am usually a quick peaker and dont think I have ever seen a true positive, but this month it was more gradual and definite positive which is reassuring. I have been taking extra good care of myself so maybe its working :) Think I am going to have to test early on 10 DPO next friday as I am going away that weekend and want to know if I can drink! Goign to try and be less crazy about it all this month, I have been really obsessive and its just not worth it.

@TunnocksTCake thank you so much for your reply!
It says my cycles are usually 27 days on average and I'm currently on CD8, where I am still bleeding!! For some reason it's longer the last 2 months! Anyways the predicted ovulation date is CD14, so who knows if that will be the date or not.. however I am carefully tracking ovulation tests and bbt now! I am just so concerned about missing it and what if its short and when I'm only testing in the mornings, it's an evening and I miss it? So stressful! 😒
Great to hear you got an obvious LH rise! And I'm crossing my fingers for you testing early on Friday! Sending you positive thoughts and baby dust! Xxx

TunnocksTCake · 14/02/2023 15:26

Oh I forgot I also wanted to ask a question....
So, We are trying to follow SMEP where you dtd EOD then when you reach peak DTD 3 days in a row, skip a day then try once more. It worked last time for our DD.
However, this month we dtd CD 10, 12, 14 then peak happened CD 15 so we DTD CD 15, 16, and today is CD 17... should I go again tonight even though we are knackered?! I dont knwo the science behind carrying on for so long after peak, anyone know the chgances of conception AFTER a peak OPK?

Floralsandsmiles · 14/02/2023 15:21

Superstorefan123 · 14/02/2023 14:20

@Floralsandsmiles of course! Yep BBT can only confirm you actually ovulated - it does nothing to predict ovulation!

Im sure with a regular cycle you are ovulating :) I think most people who aren’t ovulating probably don’t get a period but there are always exceptions to the rule (I’ve certainly been that person!)

Yep, I tend to DTD every 2-3 days except when I get a LH peak and then I do it daily for a couple of days… probably too much but after 10 months of trying and 2 losses I’m giving it all I have!

@Superstorefan123 aww OK, thank you. Well I know I'm definitely getting EWCM too each month, I just haven't pin pointed that date before in connection to ovulation, this is the first month of doing that..
So sorry to hear about your losses! I am sending you positive thoughts and baby dust for good news soon! Xxxx

@lottieb92 welcome and good luck! We are in a similar boat (already on clomid) of wanting to give it our all before more invasive treatment!

Hi everybody!
I am only CD2, but I am really hoping this is THE month for a few reasons
This will be cycle somewhere between 18-20 🥲
TTC#2 secondary infertility is a b*^!?

I think eventually I’ll be sliding into the IVF threads (if they exist) BUT I really want to give it our all whilst we wait for those doors to open… they’re already ajar! We go for our first consultant appointment Friday!

Best of luck to us all for a November baby 🥰✨

Superstorefan123 · 14/02/2023 12:01

@Floralsandsmiles i would start tracking BBT if I were you - it is the only real way to confirm ovulation! A regular period normally means ovulation but it isn’t a definite unfortunately:( I’ve had very regular months and confirmed lack of ovulation!

Thank you @Superstorefan123 for your reply! O god! I assumed regular periods meant regular ovulation and you couldn't have one without the other?
I am beginning to track bbt and ovulation tests as I don't know if the prediction is accurate on what date it thinks it is. Currently it thinks its Cd14 and that's the 20th February. However, I can see LH rising and not bbt. Only problem with bbt is once its High you've missed your window right? Whereas with the ovulation tests when it's peak you have 24 hours at least to DTD? Xxx

@Floralsandsmiles it can mean you've just not ovulated for this month, sometimes we just skip it for no reason and there's nothing to worry about, it just happens. If it happens a few times I would definitely go see the GP for tests to be safe.
Other thing is you could just have a short peak and have missed it testing once a day, which is why it's good to be dtd once you see the flashing. You can have flashing for ages sometimes before the static so testing for now would be my advice and fingers crossed it comes in the next day or so x

Hi @Natty83! Thank you for your reply! If I'm having a regular period each month, that will mean I'm ovulating each month though, doesn't it? You can't have one without the other I read? Or do you mean the static smiley? As it could have been brief and between testing? Therefore always DTD when flashing or when you get a peak (on easy at home) tests? Xxx
