... til you got your bfp?

Needing some cheering up as we head into cycle 10. Naively we didnt think we'd still be ttc and the process is beginning to wear me down.

@lottie198 thanks for checking in. Curiously the cycle I began despairing is the one I conceived in: 5 weeks today. Hope its a sticky one. Hows it going for you and your second?

@MrsSB2023 i honestly didnt think it would be an issue: my mum had me at 40 and have lots of friends who got pregnant at our age, some on their first try. I suppose it just takes longer for some, but eventually happens? I am trying hard for it to not take over but its constantly at the back of my mind. Do you already have children?

@Izzie94x congratulations! when are you due? Wishing you a very healthy and happy pregnancy. I will give fertilily a good go this cycle to help any stragglers along and hopefully that will work, fingers crossed

@fairgame84 @doublewater thank you! ordered myself another one and will use it properly this time. Youre not the only ones to have attributed success to it :)

Cycle 12 for us, which was shortly after my 40th birthday. I know several friends who took a similar length of time or longer, even at younger ages.

Hannahmag1 · 01/02/2023 21:28

We’re on our 12th month TTC and I honestly didn’t think it would be this hard. Im 26 and my partner is 29. I just feel like it’s never going to happen and whilst I’m happy for my friends around me having children it does make me feel jealous and sad that it’s not me😖 fingers crossed our time will come!

lottie198 · 01/02/2023 21:22

12 months and then another 6 months trying whilst waiting for IVF. Conceived via IVF first round , he's just over 1 now. I really hope we can conceive our second naturally ! Good luck OP

MrsSB2023 · 01/02/2023 21:16

@NatGee @Lightandlow nice to see I’m not the only 38 yr old TTC. I do worry about age but hear so many stories of over 35’s getting pg so not losing too much hope.
This is only our second cycle at the moment but I know from previous pregnancies how frustrating and draining TTC can be. Kind of takes over your life!

34and3 · 01/02/2023 21:03

Dd1 and dd2 were both pill babies Hmm ds was first month. I'm aware we were very lucky x

Izzie94x · 01/02/2023 20:11

2 years and 10 months (not that I was counting at all….. lol!)

We started TTC when I was 25, DH was 30. But we’re now 28 and 31, and pregnant! But it did however take a round of IVF to work for us 🤍✨

I know these answers don’t always help, but I wish we’d got DH checked sooner. He has a DS already so we assumed all was well, but we actually had slight MFI (low morphology. Everything else was spot on) but it seemed to stop us conceiving naturally. We privately paid for IVF with ICSI and we’re so grateful it worked first time x

doublewater · 01/02/2023 19:18

@fairgame84 @NatGee we used the ferti-lily cup last cycle and got our BFP too. It could definitely be a coincidence but I like to think it helped. I only had it in for about an hour.

MK85 · 01/02/2023 19:15

@Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby I feel you girl. 17 years here 😴 I just had a loss earlier this month

MK85 · 01/02/2023 19:13

It's taken 17 years and we finally conceived our miracle last month but I lost the pregnancy really early

NatGee · 01/02/2023 18:30

@fairgame84 interesting - i used it a couple of times but not properly I am sure. I hear you can leave it in for up to 12 hours. Is that what you did?

No! You're not supposed to leave it in that long!
I covered it in preseed and left it in for one hour max with my hips elevated.
We dtd every other day in my fertile week as advised by our fertility doctor and only used the cup during the fertile week.

@crhendy Yes boasting about it I agree is quite insensitive I am glad there is more awareness out there about the issues we as women face in relation to difficulties in conceiving and even carrying a baby to full term. In my case its not so much that the women in my life boasted, I just knew of their situations which were thankfully for them free of complications, even in older age.

It really is SO difficult seeing everyone else with their beautiful babies, and thinking of those who began trying after you about to give birth. I am ashamed to say it but I try not to look as its beginning to make me feel jealous - what an awful feeling to experience.
Thanks for taking the time to reply and for your well wishes. we've decided not to do IVF so maybe 15 months is our lucky number too and we just have to keep going, 10 down, 5 to go !

OP posts:
NatGee · 01/02/2023 18:20

@Lightandlow Did you ask to see the actual numbers? Also I read this recently which may help us view these very common markers amh, fsh etc in a different light or at least think about them with a bit more of an open mind
www.refinery29.com/en-gb/2017/10/176119/fertility-tests-mot-waste-money

We too decided not to have IVF done as I figure if my body isn't doing it naturally then why force it? Sorry, a bit of an antiquated mindset but it feels like its the right decision for us. I wish you all the baby dust in the world, DC#2 has to be right round the corner

@fairgame84 oh well done you two for keeping at it and congratulations. Did you think of doing IVF or would that not have worked for you? This gives me hope, thank you so much for sharing

We started saving up for ivf. We agreed to have one go but only one because the success rates are poor and it's very expensive. Luckily we didn't need it.
I think our success was due to the ferti-lily cup. We got our bfp the first cycle we used it.
