Experiences after chemical pregnancy

I tested positive last week but unfortunately turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. I'm still getting faint positives but have had normal period bleeding since.

Just looked for other's experiences on how long you may have continued to get faint positives? And also how long after a chemical you ovulated? I was ovulating pretty predictably beforehand.

Sending love and baby dust to everyone TTC x

@Highvibebee also only just seen your message, but some more positive news - after two chemicals (December and January) I got my bfp in Feb and I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant! Chemicals are so common, they aren't a sign of infertility xx

JJM13 · 15/08/2023 17:29

38 TTC no2 , have a 4yo DD , MMC in April , chemical last month . 11dpo stark negative and zero symptoms , tracked ovulation with OpK and temp Dtd plenty and it’s just not happening this time for us . Hard to believe we got pregnant 1st time with DD and the MMC

TTCfirst1 · 15/08/2023 17:16

Hi @Highvibebee I have just seen your message- I had a chemical pregnancy on 3rd January at 5 weeks pregnant (and got a negative pregnancy test the same day) and bled until 10th January.
My cycle then continued as normal and I had a positive ovulation test on 17th January. However, from 2 days after ovulation I had EWCM with streaks of blood and then brown when I wiped from 21st-28th January- everywhere I read said that was far too long for implantation bleeding (please note I do have endometriosis so it could be something to do with that) However on the 1st February I received a positive pregnancy test. I’m now currently 32 weeks pregnant. So it’s possible to fall straight away after a CP- and not everybody’s signs and symptoms are the same. Good luck on your journey!

Highvibebee · 30/07/2023 12:39

Hi ladies! How are you all getting on with your post-chemical pregnancies? Really hoping for some encouraging positive stories 🥺 lots of love xxx

TTCfirst1 · 23/01/2023 17:35

Thanks @allgoodthings84 😊

allgoodthings84 · 23/01/2023 13:23

@TTCBabyG as in I had it the cycles after my CPs

allgoodthings84 · 23/01/2023 13:21

@TTCBabyG I understood 😊 I was the same with my chemicals but had spotting in discharge near ovulation where I don’t usually. It only happened after my CPs so I put it down to that. I’m now 9 weeks pregnant so it didn’t affect things.

TTCfirst1 · 23/01/2023 10:58

I think my message was misunderstood. I had a chemical pregnancy on 3rd January (and got a negative pregnancy test the same day) and bled until 10th January.
My cycle then continues as normal and I had a positive ovulation test on 17th January. However, from 2 days after ovulation I have been having bloody discharge which has been going on for the past five days. Has anyone else experienced the same?

MK85 · 23/01/2023 01:09

I had a chemical last month and bleed for 2 weeks straight (normally bleed for 6 days with my period) I haven't ovulated this month at all.
It takes a while for the hcg to decrease so you can still see the faint line for a few days . I think it took a few days to a week before I tested completely negative again

Cleome · 22/01/2023 15:25

I had 3 right before my current pregnancy. Always tested faint positive for a further 4-5 days or so and ovulated around 2 weeks after the bleeding started. The successful pregnancy followed 2 chemicals in a row and the line was darker from the start. I hope this happens for you soon!

TTCfirst1 · 22/01/2023 14:31

Thanks for your message. Sorry to hear that you’ve had 3 CPs. I really wish you baby dust soon!
It really is a rollercoaster isn’t it! I also have stage 4 endometriosis and I turn 35 in a few months so I’m just praying it will happen for us soon 🤞

TulipVictory · 22/01/2023 14:05

@TTCfirst1 I haven't had this but I recently had three chemicals three months in a row. I'm giving it a break this cycle and haven't had any mid cycle bleeding. The three cycles I had my chemicals though I had break through bleeding (pink on wiping) at around about the time my period was due but I didn't have this with any of my successful pregnancies.

TTCfirst1 · 22/01/2023 13:59

Thank you for your response, it’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one. I’m been driving myself crazy with what it is- bled from 1dpo- 4dpo so far as well as cramping- had all sorts going through my head!

allgoodthings84 · 22/01/2023 13:49

@TTCBabyG after both of my CPs I had a little bit of bleeding near ovulation but it was 2 days before. I never spot near ovulation normally so definitely think it was to do with the chemicals

TTCfirst1 · 22/01/2023 13:08

Hi everyone, I’m sorry to hear about your CPs. I had one myself on 3rd January at 5weeks. I started testing for O and got a solid smiley face on 17th January and had EWCM. But the EWCM continued until yesterday (21st) with bloody streaks in it. I did another O test on 20th as confused about the EWCM but that was negative. This morning I had pinky/ brown more watery cm (sorry for tmi) I’m 4dpo as far as I’m aware. So confused as to what’s going on. Worried it’s a complication from CP. Anyone else had similar experience after their CP?

Yolo23 · 20/01/2023 15:03

@Carysmatic thank you 🥰 that’s really good to hear and very positive news again! It’s such a horrible thing to go through but I definitely have a bit of comfort knowing it now could happen - so praying it does very soon ❤️ thank you xx

Carysmatic · 20/01/2023 13:38

Hi ladies, I'm sorry for your losses. I just wanted to put out a positive story after my chemical a few years ago when I conceived DD, I had a chemical and obviously had a bleed with it which was basically just a late heavy period. If I hadn't been TTC and testing I probably wouldn't have even known I was pregnant as AF was only about 5days late. I actually went on to conceive on the very next cycle. After my chemical bleed/AF I started doing OPKs as normal and maybe ovulated 2-3days later than normal and conceived DD that cycle. Apparently you're more fertile after a chemical which was definitely true in my case. Sending you lots of baby dust and hope you get your rainbow babies soon Flowers

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 13:02

@Yolo23 you will get your rainbow baby soon 😊

Yolo23 · 20/01/2023 11:37

@allgoodthings84 very very true indeed! I think during TTC we all try to cling onto answers or to try and make sense of it all but as you say - sometimes you just don’t know! It’s really reassuring to hear that you have had a successful conception given the 2 previous chemicals ✨🥳 How Exciting! That’s given me a bit more hope 🥰 thank you x

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 11:22

@Yolo23 chemicals can happen for many other reasons than late implantation so don’t yet think that you always implant late and that’s why it’s happening. Chemicals are so so common. I’ve had 2 and this time it wasn’t a chemical. I’ll never know 100% why the others were chemicals it’s only a guess that it was late implantation because of my normal pre AF spotting the other times but it could be coincidence. No one fully knows when they implant because implantation symptoms can happen before, during or after implantation actually happens.

I hope you get your babe very soon 😊

Yolo23 · 20/01/2023 11:17

@allgoodthings84 thank you for sharing! Yeah a lot of the research I’ve read appears to say it’s more common - good to know it’s less a case of ‘always’ so I can continue to be positive up until the very end. It’s hard when you’re comparing past chemicals because they ended in chemical for a reason so there is sometimes no rhyme or rhythm to say why, but also I’d imagine each chemical, the same with each pregnancy is different (symtoms wise)… but it’s hard not to not want to compare! X

Yolo23 · 20/01/2023 11:15

@Emmamoo89 thank you so much for sharing your experience - certainly helps to give a bit more hope because it’s definitely common for me to implant late. Even if you were one of the rarities! Before my chemical I had a sort of sticky pink CM - only once. This time I’m having more of a brown CM but it could just be AF coming super early. Really interesting info, thank you x

Emmamoo89 · 20/01/2023 10:59

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 10:47

@Emmamoo89 bleeding can happen in very early pregnancy for other reasons than implantation but yours may have been implantation but one of the lucky few that implants late and all is ok. I didn’t say you didn’t implant at 12dpo I just said fertility specialists say it’s rare but not impossible 😊

Definitely wasn't bleeding. It was like sticky pink cm. Such tiny amount. Didn't appear on toilet paper. Glad to be one that worked out.😊The only time ive had implantation bleeding tbf. With my chemicals didnt get any. With my first chemical got like a burning sensation in my left side was so weird. Was like someone was using a lighter. Second chemical no pain whats so ever.

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 10:12

@Yolo23 i think my 2 chemicals I implanted late as still got my pre AF spotting on and off so know it didn’t happen before that whereas this time I had no pre AF spotting so think I implanted earlier this time round. The fertility specialists I spoke to told me that it’s not impossible to implant late and be ok but it’s very rare. The majority of the time implantation CD11 or later does end in a chemical. Not always just usually.

I know mine definitely happened at 12dpo as I had the tiniest amount of pink discharge and I wouldn't of known about it if I didn't check. Had it for 3 days. Didn't end in a chemical for me
