First month TTC - driving myself mad!

My husband and I started TTC this month, I thought this would be a super exciting time but it's quite the opposite!

My period is a day late, I was that crazy person who did 3 early pregnancy tests (all negative), one today (still negative). I think the constant googling of every slight symptom I've had has just delayed my period as know I would be very lucky to conceive first month of trying.

I've decided I've got all my craziness out this first month and now will just relax and not symptom check every single twinge and headache (and not test until AF is late!)

Can't help but keep a little bit of hope that my test might be positive in a few days, but know AF is probably on the way!

You spend years trying not to get pregnant then all of a sudden you want to, such a shift in mindset that I never really acknowledged before!

Anyway rant over and best of luck to everyone on this conception journey with me xx

At least you know where you are!

SEG92 · 10/01/2023 09:17

AF just arrived, so relieved! Baby dust to you all keep me updated xx

So weird isn't it @1greentea ?! Especially if you're getting positive opk. You can just skip a period apparently if you don't ovulate so maybe you'll get one this month?

GP is doing full blood count and checking everything, can't remember all of them but just going to cover all bases to check.

Same, I don't even mind if I don't get the BFP just want to know that my period is coming (or something at least!)

Ultrasound isn't a bad idea, least it'll give you peace of mind. But fingers crossed your period will come during this next cycle xx

@seg92 hi, was just reading through these posts, i missed my first ever period in dec and still haven't had one!! I'm day 58 or something. No idea what happened. Have just been having sex every other day incase, I got a positive opk on day 55. Wtf. So almost missed 2 periods now.
What bloods did gp take? I've looked at getting an ultrasound to see if everything looks okay internally, will have bloods this week but also know they can be very difficult to read/unreliable due to normal fluctuations etc etc.
I'm not even desperate for a bfp, would love my period so I know I'm not a broken woman!

Sagittarius25 · 09/01/2023 19:46

That's what I was saying to my DH! 😂 I was like you never know a mystery egg might appear 😂

I know it's tough, at least the docs are looking after you, I can imagine mine just palming me off 🙄

I'm CD27 today, AF due Thursday, still planning to test at weekend of no AF. We will see...

SEG92 · 09/01/2023 19:43

It really does help to just try and relax, I said to my husband earlier you know we can be having sex during this time as who knows what's going on 🤣🤷‍♀️

I've never missed a period in my life so keep thinking it will turn up eventually.

@Sagittarius25 I'm on day 38 now 😭

Same!! I also thought this would be a really exciting time but actually it's just stressful and confusing!

We also know stressing can delay our periods but can't stop worrying 🤣 I have got a lot calmer the last few days, know either I'll get my BFP or AF will arrive soon. Or maybe I just didn't ovulate this month and I should be cracking on with January TTC 🤷‍♀️

Keep me updated, sending baby dust and positive vibes xx

This is the mindset I got into eventually with my 38 day cycle last month! Got to a point where I was like well I literally cannot control what my body is doing so I'm just gonna let it go, and then we just started enjoying ourselves again and doing lots of DTD in the meantime, then AF did arrive 🤣

It's so hard and easy to think the worst that AF will never come for some reason, but letting it go and getting to a better mindset if you can is helpful x

@SEG92 thank-you ❤️

I stupidly expected to get pregnant and to magically get my BFP straight away 🙈 I had no idea how common it was to be in this position! If I am pregnant, the delay has certainly drained the excitment out of it a little.

Hope you get good news from your bloods. It's great that they'e looking after you! I'm going to hold out for another week and if neither AF or BFP have arrived I'll phone for an appointment.

So glad that I'm not alone on this emotional roller coaster!

SEG92 · 09/01/2023 17:11

Of course you can @TaMcCro ❤️ I'm so sorry you're going through this too but it's so comforting to know we're not alone!

I'm just going by my app too, I'm now 6 days late (my periods are usually between 29-32 days, I'm now on day 38). I've been getting quite similar symptoms to you, mild cramps, lots of white CM, the odd headache, fatigue, my left boob is SO sore. But nothing stopping me from doing my usual things (work, running etc).

So many stories of women who didn't get BFP until really late so as everyone says, don't give up hope until AF shows! This is only my first month TTC so if I am not pregnant that's fine, I just want a BFP or my period.

Hopefully the blood test will give me some more answers (and I just know my period will arrive as soon as it's done 🤣)

Keep me updated with how you're getting on too xx

Hi ladies,

Can I please join?

I'm 4 days late (18dpo according to my app- but that's all I have to go by) and still testing negative.

I have continuous mild cramps, bloat and backache (for almost 2 weeks now). I had 3 days of nausea, then it stopped. A lot of creamy, white CM, temperature still high.

I have read a few threads whereby ladies didn't get their BFP until 7-14 days late...so there's still hope 🤞 Trying to be optimistic (but realistic!).

I really hope you get your BFP ❤️ Please keep us updated.

Chooba · 09/01/2023 15:24

That's good you've got in for an appointment @SEG92, hopefully you'll get some answers from them :)

SEG92 · 09/01/2023 12:29

I am @Almondbut. The doctor was so lovely, sending me for a blood test, the test he did was negative (shock), but said he has seen it where the bloods come back positive after a negative urine test. Not getting my hopes up at all just want to know what's going on!

Booked a test tomorrow so will know in a week, he's going to check everything incase there's another reason my period might be late, so that'll be good to know anyway :) feel better now I've been to the docs and also know my period will probably arrive this afternoon now!!

OP posts:
Almondbut · 09/01/2023 10:42

Oh keep us updated! Can imagine you are feeling completely confused 🤗

SEG92 · 09/01/2023 10:22

Cycle day 38, still no period, still negative tests. Have a docs appointment this morning. I haven't been on the pill for 5 years so it can't be that and I'm never this late. Hope they send me for bloods and don't tell me to come back in a week!

OP posts:
northernmam · 07/01/2023 11:56

I'm also first month TTC, but baby number 3.
I'm 1DPO and will hopefully be testing around 21st, as that's when my period is due. Good luck to everyone xx

SEG92 · 07/01/2023 11:34

Still negative :( I'm getting fed up now.

OP posts:
SEG92 · 07/01/2023 10:04

I didn't take an ovulation test just went with what Flo app said and change in discharge so I don't know for sure when I ovulated, also read of many people who didn't get a bfp until their period was a week late or had to have a blood test to confirm their pregnancy.

The only time my period has ever been this late is when my dad got diagnosed with cancer out of nowhere and then when he passed away. So it's very unusual for me to be this late.

Feeling so nervous about taking another test, but I'll report back when I do! @Almondbut thank you, hope all is well with you xx

Almondbut · 07/01/2023 09:57

@SEG92 got everything crossed for you xx

Wagsandclaws · 07/01/2023 09:38

Considering how many days post ovulation you are I would have thought you'd have had a bfp by now.

Sorry op, I know it's hard ( I took 27 months to conceive my last ds - I was 40
Though! ) it's hard Isnt it? I'll keep everything crossed for a bfp next cycle for you!

I hope your AF comes soon - yes do give the gp a call next week if still no sign.

SEG92 · 07/01/2023 09:29

I just want either a BFP or my period so I'm not in limbo so that's why I'm scared of taking another test.

Will let you know how I get on, don't have any tests, will get some today (not having tests in the house until I'm late so I can't be tempted!!) Xx

OP posts:
Sagittarius25 · 07/01/2023 09:19

Yes I reckon test again, but I know what you mean about being disappointed.

I know I'm kind of glad I've got a reason (away for work) not to test on period due date 😂 a nice distraction

Let us know how you get on x

SEG92 · 07/01/2023 09:15

No AF, haven't tested since Wednesday, got no inclination that period is coming. Keep waking up in hot sweats, feeling tired, waking up early. Think it's time for another test (now 4 days late, day 36, my cycles have been 29 days long for the last 3 months).

Just worried about being disappointed :( if period still hasn't arrived by next week I'll ring the docs.

It's hard to tell twh difference in symptoms isn't it? Good idea not to test early, I won't be doing that again!

OP posts:
Sagittarius25 · 07/01/2023 08:49

How are you getting on @SEG92 ? Any AF or BFP?

I'm cycle day 25 today and have been increasingly tired, however I'm unsure if it's just returning to normality and full time work since Xmas or anything potentially pregnancy related 😂

Period is due 12th Jan but won't be testing until 14th at earliest if it hasn't shown as I'm away for work 12th/13th

SEG92 · 04/01/2023 19:14

It's so hard to wait isnt it? So sorry to hear about your loss 😔 I'm going to wait another 3 days before I test again, if it doesn't arrive after a week I'll go to the docs. Heard of lots of people who have to have pregnancies confirmed via blood tests.

Baby dust to you xxx
