Saw the GP today...

Well after 16 months of ttc number 2 and one mmc at the start, I finally bit the bullet and saw the GP this morning.

She was lovely and she's going to order some bloods and a sperm analysis for DH. She also took a swab today (for Chlamydia I think).

I'm sad that I'm at this point and a little angry too. I thought my DS would have a sibling by now and I just want this fertility journey to be over. Definitely grateful to have DS but fearful no more will come.

Is anyone else at a similar stage in their fertility journey?

@oliveroses I don't know! Maybe faulty tests, or a change in urine concentration? Apparently, for some people, testing with SMU rather than FMU works best as in FMU the HCG can have broken down if it was in the bladder too long?

The test I took last night was really dark. I took another this morning which was not as dark and another before posting today which was darker again!
So I think time of day seems to really matter for me for some reason? I've been Sherlock Holmes-ing it on Google today but I really have no idea.

They do say you should use the tests for a Yes/No rather than for comparison.
I've learned my lesson there.

I'm thinking of booking a scan for 7 weeks, as by then any heartbeat should be visible. Now... to try and relax :/

@Got2besoon Im so glad to read your update!! What amazing news. Keep us updated xxx

oliveroses · 10/03/2023 19:13

@Got2besoon that's amazing! How bizarre about the other tests, do you think they were faulty? Either way that is fabulous about your latest test and all fingers crossed for you!xx

Got2besoon · 10/03/2023 17:37

I would be embarrassed about this update if I wasn't so shocked and elated.

So, as I said, my tests were getting lighter and I was sure I was miscarrying again. All of my pregnancy signs had gone and the FRER line had changed from a lovely ruby red colour to a pale pink.

I spent 2 days off work because I was just so sad and couldn't face being around people, and I started looking up ivf clinics to join online.

Well, the last 1-2 days I've been feeling exhausted and I've had a metallic taste in my mouth.

So I re-tested to see if there were still pregancy hormones left, especially as I hadn't started to bleed yet, and the test is SO strong. It's looking about right for where I should be at 19dpo. What on earth!

I think the pregnancy might be progressing. I genuinely can't believe it.

All going well, I'm going to book an early scan, so I'm definitely not getting my hopes up until then.

It's been like an episode of bloody Eastenders in my house this week!

As always, I will keep you ladies in the loop, and I hope everyone is well xx

I'm so sorry @Got2besoon xxx

vitahelp · 07/03/2023 16:01

I’m so sorry to hear that @Got2besoon Yes good idea taking a break from here if that feels best for you xx

oliveroses · 07/03/2023 14:18

I'm so sorry @Got2besoon. Yes, take a break. Am honestly expecting the same to happen here (though not testing). You'll get there. Loads of hugs xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 07/03/2023 14:11

@Got2besoon Oh I'm so sorry, that's so awful :( Look after yourself.

Got2besoon · 07/03/2023 14:06

Well, it's a sad update from me. My lines are getting lighter and lighter, so it looks like this will be another miscarriage.

I'm just so tired. I can't believe this is happening again.

On the plus side, we managed to get pregnant again, so I'm trying to focus on that.

I may take a little break from this thread. Wishing you all lots of baby dust x

@oliveroses

Omg, congratulations!! Such wonderful news.

Your post resonates with me so much as I'm trying to protect my heart too, in case this pregnancy doesn't work out.

One day at a time x

Oh I finally ovulated btw so am a measly 1dpo today. The OPKs never caught it but I had a temp dip yesterday along with O pains and then a rise today. Hopefully two more temps should give me the crosshairs on FF 🙏🏻

TheBirdintheCave · 03/03/2023 22:19

@oliveroses Congratulations :D

oliveroses · 03/03/2023 19:26

Thanks @Jigglemonster !
Sorry, that sounded way more negative than I meant it to, I am really really delighted and just trying to pace myself!

I hope everyone else gets bfps so soon. I would be quite lost without this thread!

Jigglemonster · 03/03/2023 19:12

Congratulations @oliveroses , that's fantastic news, I'm so pleased for you. Completely get why you feel wary but hopefully you'll be able to relax a little as the days pass.

oliveroses · 03/03/2023 18:53

Yesterday I did a test and it is a bfp!! I knew it would be because I've had no spotting this month and some really distinctive cramps, but when I told DH and the doctor it did sound a bit stupid until I did the actual test. So I'm glad I did it but now I have the long wait until things start to look slightly more certain, so I'm also trying to just relax and not stress.

I am really happy that this has happened but also trying not to think ahead too much and I feel very wary after the last year that I've had. My period was due today so tomorrow I will be + a day, which is a step further.

I emailed the private consultant i had been in touch with as I started freaking out about my thyroid but she said to calm down, it's totally normal and I might just want to get it checked further down the road. She also said I could use progesterone if I wanted but that my result was totally fine, so I guess ... well, I don't yet know what I will do about that!

I am going to see my parents early next week and I had a chemical pregnancy last time I was there so I feel weirdly superstitious about that but trying to put it out of mind. Just taking one day at a time xx

oliveroses · 03/03/2023 18:46

@Jigglemonster so glad to hear it's been going well so far, all fingers crossed for you!x

Jigglemonster · 03/03/2023 14:30

I'm good thanks @oliveroses , 8w4d now and just willing everything to go ok. Only told DH so far, will be a bit anxious for the foreseeable until it feels a bit more real and until the risks go down. When I had the tests done with the fertility consultant I asked about my super low amh and increased risks in pregnancy and he confirmed it so is a but in my head, but trying to just relax. The same as ever, doctors recommending not being stressed makes it more stressful 🙃

Got2besoon · 02/03/2023 22:01

@Keeptrying32 I'm sorry to hear about the low iron but maybe correcting this will be the 'key'. I've got my fingers crossed for you. Time for spinach and steaks?!

@Got2besoon @oliveroses Thank you. Massive relief as I really couldn’t face doing it again and big shock as did a lot better than I even thought possible. Managed to get a look at most of my bloods today- still a couple they haven’t released yet. Not my thyroid but I am iron deficit which does explain tiredness and the hair loss. Strange as it is in my multivitamin but then I am have heavy and frequent periods. I’ve going to get some iron to take alongside my multivitamin. I think my progesterone is dropping early in my luteal phase. Going to go ahead with finding a specialist and see if clomid is an option.

oliveroses · 02/03/2023 17:26

@Jigglemonster how are you getting on?x

@Keeptrying32 so glad you passed! I think the thyroid is easy to treat and it does sound as though it would explain a few things x

@Got2besoon still so pleased for you!

TheBirdintheCave · 01/03/2023 18:51

@Got2besoon Congratulations! :D Looks like the Clomid did the trick!

Got2besoon · 01/03/2023 17:15

Thank you everyone, your messages means a lot. It doesn't feel real at all. I haven't even told DH yet as he's still at work!

I just asked DS if he wanted a sibling and he said he'd like a sister and we could ask Santa. Bless him!

@oliveroses Reflexology sounds fab. I'm all for anything relaxing. I had one accupunture session and disliked the little needles!

@Keeptrying32 You passed!!! Aaah, that is wonderful, I know you were worried it hadn't gone well. What a relief that must be, I hope you'll be celebrating in style.
That is interesting about your symptoms. In lots of the threads I was reading about TTC, the women found out they had under-active thyroids and then conceived soon after starting the medicine. Do let us know.

I'll definitely be sticking around to see how you all get on (if you don't mind!).

@Got2besoon That is fantastic news. I am so happy for you. Hopefully this will be the start of a whole load of positives on this thread. Wishing you a safe and healthy pregnancy. Massive congratulations. It has given me hope.

Ive been quiet as things have been ticking along here. I managed to speak to my GP this week as my last few cycles have been really short even for me, with spotting on days 8 and 9 dpo. My hair has been falling out, I’m super tired and I have gained quite a bit of weight which is not like me. Despite eating better and exercising more I haven’t lost any weight. I put it down to stress with my exam etc but after things not getting better once that was over finally decided to get some bloods done as I’m wondering if my thyroid is an issue. It probably isn’t but as mad as it sounds it would almost be a relief as it would explain things. I am waiting on the results so we will see. I do have some good news, not as exciting as @Got2besoon but I did pass my exam so now we are exploring fertility specialist options.

oliveroses · 01/03/2023 14:31

@Got2besoon woohoo, congratulations!! That is such wonderful news, I'm so happy for you! I know it is hard but allow yourself to enjoy it.

Guys, I just had reflexology for the first time and wow. It was amazing! I read another thread on here and so many people said it worked for them that I thought I'd try it. Sooooo relaxing.

vitahelp · 01/03/2023 13:54

@Got2besoon Congratulations!! So happy for you and it gives me so much hope that it can happen for me too. It must feel so surreal and I understand you having a wall up due to past experience, but I so hope this time is different and you have a healthy pregnancy. Keep checking in here when you can!
