Saw the GP today...

Well after 16 months of ttc number 2 and one mmc at the start, I finally bit the bullet and saw the GP this morning.

She was lovely and she's going to order some bloods and a sperm analysis for DH. She also took a swab today (for Chlamydia I think).

I'm sad that I'm at this point and a little angry too. I thought my DS would have a sibling by now and I just want this fertility journey to be over. Definitely grateful to have DS but fearful no more will come.

Is anyone else at a similar stage in their fertility journey?

That's amazing news @TheBirdintheCave !! Just brilliant. I'm so pleased for you. Fingers crossed the next bit goes well! Please keep us posted x

TheBirdintheCave · 15/05/2023 17:40

We have six frozen embryos: 5AB, 4AB, 4BB, 4BB, 4BB and 3BB :)

I don't know which one they'll choose for transfer or how they pick 🤷🏻‍♀️

oliveroses · 15/05/2023 17:36

@Got2besoon I'm sure the spotting is nothing but it's hard not to worry when things like that happen.

@vitahelp statistically I feel like if it's not this month it must be soon. Keeping busy is excellent. I know how exhausting it is thinking about ttc all the time. Give your mind a break if you can.

All well here, I think! We have told a bunch of people now which has made me a bit terrified again. But it's good. I'm happy. I am definitely not feeling the second trimester glow though. I am seriously knackered and feeling extremely foggy.

vitahelp · 15/05/2023 14:37

@Got2besoon I'm so glad to hear everything is ok! Hopefully the brown spotting isn't anything to worry about, I have heard that is quite common but I can understand it being quite worrying.

I honestly don't know how I've managed to stay so calm this time, I think sadly it may be because I have almost given up on it ever happening. I have been busy at work and socially recently too which has played a major part in keeping my mind off it.

Thank you for sharing that, hopefully it will be the same for me. I do fear I may be expecting a lot from it though, since it is the final thing and so far nothing has come up to highlight an issue. I almost want them to find a (non-serious) issue so it can be 'fixed'.

Got2besoon · 15/05/2023 13:25

Thanks @vitahelp !

All is going well here at 14 weeks, though I had a bit of brown spotting earlier in the week which has me a bit worried. Hopefully baby starts moving about soon so I can relax a bit.

Well done you for having a more relaxed month and fingers crossed 12 is your magic number.

With regards the HSG, I just want to say that my experience was really positive. I felt no pain and it was over really quickly. I had built it up quite a lot in my head so almost asked the doctor 'Is that it?!' when it was over. I know it can be different for everyone though.

@TheBirdintheCave Tagged you above but doesn't seem to have worked.

vitahelp · 15/05/2023 13:07

@TheBirdintheCave That sounds really positive! Have you been given a final number today?

@oliveroses @Got2besoon @Alloveragain3 I hope all is well with you all and things are progressing nicely.

I'm 12/13 dpo today (not too sure though as didn't do opk/bbt this month). AF should be due between now and Wed. I made a conscious decision not to symptom spot this month and have actually managed to do it and stay really calm. It's been 12 months since we started TTC now so it would be really nice if it happened this time but I haven't got high hopes and feel a bit too normal right now.
My hospital apt where I'm hoping they will do a HSG scan is on 24 May, that will be the final step in investigations.

oliveroses · 13/05/2023 21:46

@TheBirdintheCave that's amazing!! Hope it's good news tomorrow - what a huge milestone x

Alloveragain3 · 13/05/2023 14:04

@TheBirdintheCave That sounds wonderful!!! Fingers crossed tomorrow is good news too.

TheBirdintheCave · 13/05/2023 07:24

Sorry yes. 21/25 eggs fertilised. Yesterday on day three we had eight excellent grade embryos and 'some' good grade ones (no number given). Freezing day is tomorrow so we'll have the final number then.

oliveroses · 12/05/2023 21:45

Any news @TheBirdintheCave? X

TheBirdintheCave · 09/05/2023 22:20

They were all very happy 🤷🏻‍♀️ Guess we'll find out who was right tomorrow when we see how many fertilise. I doubt it will be many.

Got2besoon · 09/05/2023 22:10

@TheBirdintheCave It sounds like loads to me too, but I am totally uneducated in IVF, other than what I see on TV. I really hope there are lots of juicy, clever, healthy eggs for you.

I hope the procedure wasn't too stressful and you're able to relax a bit now that it is done x

oliveroses · 09/05/2023 20:53

@TheBirdintheCave as you can tell I don't know much about it but that sounds like a lot to me! What did the consultant say? When do you find out about what happens next? I'm sorry it wasn't the number you wanted though, I can imagine that must be really tough. Hope you're having a relaxing evening and are able to put it out of mind for a bit x

TheBirdintheCave · 09/05/2023 19:12

@oliveroses I don't know. Most people get around 8-10 I think? Problem is that mine are garbage quality so I was hoping for way more to give me better odds of getting a good one. Of 44 follicles only 28 were big enough to drain.

oliveroses · 09/05/2023 19:07

@TheBirdintheCave what is the ideal number? Try not to get too down. You only need one good egg and you're away. Fingers crossed for you. What's the next step?

TheBirdintheCave · 09/05/2023 16:32

25 eggs so not great odds of getting some good quality embryos. Maybe one or two if we're lucky. Massively disappointed.

oliveroses · 09/05/2023 13:43

@TheBirdintheCave good luck, thinking of you!

TheBirdintheCave · 09/05/2023 09:16

@vitahelp Just heading to the clinic for egg collection now :)

oliveroses · 09/05/2023 08:56

@vitahelp thank you! I'm still waiting. Was calm over the weekend but today is day 3 - so really hoping I don't get a call today!! After today I can relax a bit as it shouldn't be bad news x

vitahelp · 09/05/2023 08:17

@TheBirdintheCave Sorry I hit send before adding you to the above. How are you doing and what stage are you at now? I hope you are ok.

vitahelp · 09/05/2023 08:16

Morning, I hope you all had a nice weekend. I'm in the 2ww now, well I think I am - for the first time I haven't tracked BBT or done OPK so I don't actually know when/if I ovulated. But it is CD20 today so very good chance I have. It has felt good not tracking things, even if just for this month. I'm hoping it will be set me up for a calmer 2ww but lets see!

@Got2besoon That is amazing news about your 12 week scan, it must feel great to have reached that milestone! I hope you have recovered from your cold now. I can imagine getting that call was a shock, very relieved for you that there was nothing concerning.

@oliveroses Such amazing news that your scan went well! I bet it feels so surreal! Have you had the screening results yet? I hope you aren't still waiting, let us know. I'm so glad the thread has helped on your journey, I feel the same, it is very reassuring being able to check in and get support/logical thoughts from you all.

@Alloveragain3 I hope you feel some kicks soon! How many weeks are you now?

Alloveragain3 · 04/05/2023 20:46

@oliveroses I'm SO pleased to hear about your scan! That's brilliant news.

I'm now on to feeling anxious that my 20 week scan is so far away! However, I felt kicks from about 16-17 weeks with DS so fingers crossed I feel them at the same point or earlier with this one. They were doing big jumps at the 12 week scan Grin

oliveroses · 04/05/2023 19:49

@TheBirdintheCave great that IVF is underway, and I hope the scan goes well tomorrow. Also, amazing news on the potty training front! And nights too - you must be delighted!

@vitahelp wonderful that your results have been good and also that your hospital appointment has been brought forwards. Hopefully that will get things moving for you. And letting go of OPKs and BBTs might well help, your body is still doing what it's doing after all, whether or not you track it.

@Got2besoon so glad all is well! Must have been so stressful receiving that phone call though.

Had my scan yesterday and all good! Can't really believe there's a baby in there. Now nervously waiting for the screening results. If they don't call before end of Tuesday it's good, but it's going to be a long wait over the bank holiday weekend! They said it can take 10 working days for other (low risk) results to come through on the app, which also feels like a long wait ... even if that should be good news. Anyway feeling very grateful and still tentative but much more assured. Can't tell you how much I have felt supported by you all and this thread x

TheBirdintheCave · 04/05/2023 18:06

@Got2besoon Great news! :D Crazy that it's been twelve weeks already! That time has flown by. I'm sorry about the phone call, that must have been really scary :(
