Hey ladies,

Thought I would create a thread for those testing towards the end of Nov/early December.

I'm CD2, TTC first baby. On cycle 5.

fingers crossed for us all!

Sorry @ChloeN the picture didn't load! Is it these ones? Or are any OPKs good? My BBT is on a downward trend, that with spotting I'm definitely out for another month so I'm focusing on next month to keep me sane 😅

@Tbark it wasn’t great lol it almost did the opposite of what it was meant too 🤢🤣 The opks you mean?? My wee is always like clear and I’ve still been able to use them! I just never got as high of a peak as everyone else but you can still clearly see them going up

Tbark · 27/11/2022 10:32

@Daisy1992 congratulations on your BFP!!! This really is a lucky thread!!

@ChloeN hmmm maybe I will.give that a miss for now hahha! Are these the tests everyone has been using and does anyone have any do's and don't? I drink about 2 litres of water a day, would this make them difficult to interpret?

ChloeN · 27/11/2022 10:21

@Tbark i bought preseed because I thought may as well can’t hurt, not to sound gross but we thought it felt horrible and made it really sticky down there🤣🤣 so we only used it once and wouldn’t use it again!

@BCxx i heard the same about lees ewcm if dehydrated! I drink loads of water and get quite a lot but my opks are always lighter than they should be, but because I drink loads of water everyday I still do see a rise!

Stilltobeseen · 27/11/2022 10:20

Congratulations!!

I really wish I new when I actually ovulated, could be 4-6dpo I think...ugh longest two weeks eveeerrrr

ChloeN · 27/11/2022 10:19

@Daisy1992 ahh congratulations!! Looks like a good line for 10dpo☺️☺️

Daisy1992 · 27/11/2022 09:52

@marmarleyandme thank you so much!

Daisy1992 · 27/11/2022 09:51

@BCxx thank you! I can't believe it! This is cycle 6 for us. I took evening primrose oil (1000mg) this month and took Conceive Plus multivitamin every day. I definitely noticed a big difference in the amount of ewcm so maybe the evening primrose oil worked. I used clear blue ovulation tests and dtd every day during the flashing smileys up to the day after the static smiley. Also my DH started taking the wellman vitamins every day too.

marleyandme · 27/11/2022 09:48

@Daisy1992 congratulations! That's definitely it 🎉

BCxx · 27/11/2022 09:23

@Daisy1992 looks like this is it, congratulations ☺️ Remind me what cycle number you’re on. Did you do anything different this time?

Daisy1992 · 27/11/2022 08:59

Oh my god, I think its finally happened ladies! I had a strange lightheaded feeling most of yesterday, and I was so tired all day, my boobs are hurting but that's normal for me.. I was going to wait for AF but tested this morning at 10dpo because I have zero willpower and look! This is it right? I am super nervous now I have tested so early, don't want to get my hopes up.

@LAgeDeRaisin I live in the US and googled. But I’m sure 24 hours is fine, 48 to be safe maybe.

@BCxx

Hi there - I really wouldn't worry about it. Here is a quote from the Welsh NHS page with the link:

"Some methods of contraception can affect a cervical screening test result. These are-
·
Spermicides
·
Barrier methods (e.g. condoms or a diaphragm)
·
Lubricant jelly

If you use any of these methods, you should not have sex for at least 24 hours before having a cervical screening test. Otherwise, having sex should not affect your cervical screening result."

phw.nhs.wales/services-and-teams/cervical-screening-wales/what-is-cervical-screening/having-a-cervical-screening-test-faqs/should-i-avoid-sex-before-having-a-cervical-screening-test/

I'm not in Wales but the Welsh vaginas are largely similar to those found elsewhere in the UK..

Other trusts say wait 24hrs due to mechanical irritation of the cells potentially affecting the result.

Couldn't find an NHS resource saying 48hours @Roxybabe ?

In short, so don't worry about!

Saturnsmoon · 26/11/2022 23:30

@Roxybabe I used EPO last cycle (just until ovulation) but can’t say it did much for increasing my ewcm. I think the ones I bought have a low dosage of GLA though which is apparently the active ingredient for increasing EWCM 🙄

I’m using it again this cycle at a higher dosage so will see if it makes any difference. I would say my pms was much less this month and apparently it can help with that too…needless to say I took that as a sign of pregnancy which it wasn’t 🙈.

Tbark · 26/11/2022 23:17

@Roxybabe I'm 11 DPO and still getting cramps but fully expecting AF to rear her head soon!!!! This is the first month I've decided not to test and I've felt so much better for it than seeing all the BFNs. I've also done the same as you and decided to plan for next month so have been researching which is best to use. Has anyone had any luck with preseed? I'm not sure I really need it as haven't struggled with CM before but I guess it can't hurt!! I had spotting this month and last month.....I swear ive never had this is any of my other cycles before TTC....I think its my body's way of making me go crazy 🤪 lol

Roxybabe · 26/11/2022 22:45

@BCxx ignore that, I just googled and it says they recommend not have sex 48 hours before!!

OP posts:
LAgeDeRaisin · 26/11/2022 22:44

@BCxx Generally around 24 hours for it not to affect the validity of the test. And re the semen... trust me the nurse will have experienced worse than a bit of semen. Just have a shower beforehand and it'll be fine.

We've got norovirus in our hospital atm and I really feel for the nursing staff...

Roxybabe · 26/11/2022 22:44

@BCxx I had my smear last month and I read just dont have sex the day before, so 2 nights before should be ok!

OP posts:
BCxx · 26/11/2022 22:29

Bit of a horrible question but only one place to ask it so here I am! I have a smear next week and without stating the obvious..🙈😳 how long before it do you think I should stop dtd? Like 36 hours, just avoid the night before? I’m hoping ovulation is the day before so I can stop a bit before but don’t want the nurse to be like ew 🙈😂

BCxx · 26/11/2022 22:27

@Roxybabe yeah years ago that wouldn’t have been an issue at all but now I’m like god, I’d rather have an early night 🤣 but there is nothing worse than kicking yourself for not trying enough. It does only take once but surely your chances increase with more of them in there to try and get to the finish line 🙈 yeah definitely and I’ve learned a lot about vitamins etc on here that certainly can’t be doing me any harm so may as well take those

Roxybabe · 26/11/2022 22:15

@BCxx yeah true, as long as you DTD it doesn’t matter!! I sometimes wonder whether its worth just DTD EOD from CD10 - CD20. That way you are more or less covered with less stressing as I usually Ovulate around CD14/15 I’m bound to be in my window. But at the same time I also like to know!! And yes I agree that if I get a year down the line atleast I have my cycle information for any doctors that might need it.

alexalexalex18 · 26/11/2022 22:02

@ScotsBaby2 I so hope you are right!
I have a bit of nausea still but no more ovary pain.
Could it have been implantation?

BCxx · 26/11/2022 21:57

Also I think I don’t have enough ewcm because I’m permanently so dehydrated but if I drink too much the easy at home opks will show low whether it’s risen or not 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

BCxx · 26/11/2022 21:55

@Roxybabe yeah I think because it detects both hormones rising you get more of a window. Easy at home are fine if you know a few days before to start dtd and aren’t trying to be laidback and hang off til it rises (been a bit guilty of that so far as I thought ovulation would be so late and didn’t want to be done in by the time it came). I think when you actually boil it down to the very basics of it, there’s one way to get pregnant and knowing all of this info sometimes doesn’t actually help, only one thing can do that 🤣 but if there’s a problem I do think you’re better to know about all this stuff as it seems you could get the right helper quicker if you know exactly what’s wrong. Who knows, this month might be the month for you though!

Roxybabe · 26/11/2022 21:08

@Daisy1992 thanks, I hope it works for me too. What dose do you take?
