Hey,

It's my second cycle if ivf, I'm on Bemfola 225 iu and it's day 4 of my cycle. Last time I was on Gonal F 150iu. Was wondering if it will produce more eggs now.

Just wanted to ask anyones dosage, the name of their ivf medication and the egg result, home many were retrieved?

@SH998 How did you get on? What time was it? Did you get a scan photo? It always depends on the doc I get some don’t give a photo.

So I emailed my clinic, explained my HCG is decreasing, sent photo and they’ve said to come in tomorrow for a blood test. I only really emailed them so I can come off my meds to start my period which I guess will be very heavy.

InfertilityTv just released a video about prednisone, that meds the clinic casually asked if I wanted with an FET as it would stop a other condition interfering with implantation but when I read more I didn’t. Infertility TV showed implantation was the same for those who had placebo and prednisone and more people had a biochemical on prednisone. InfertilityTV said you should get a second opinion if your clinic pushes you. Thought that was interesting. It’s crazy how docs don’t tell you the full story.

@SH998 I tested today and really faint. I've emailed the clinic with my progression lines and asked when to come off the meds to start a period. I've also said I'm unclear what this was, explained the ache in my side I've had for over a week, said wasn't sure if ectopic, or hormones in my ovary or the large fibroid positioned there. I doubt they will have any answers but best to tell them everything. So I expect a call today from a nurse but I think she may arrange a call with the nurse practitioner or doctor.

I don't think I will get clarification. It's just too many factors involved it could be this, it could be that, it could also be that and they have no technology to check it. Even my last pregnancy they didn't see a baby anywhere do they only guessed pregnancy in an unknown location. I'm not expecting real answers but still it's important to go to EPU and tell the clinic everything. It's like it was a chemical ended before 5 weeks but chemicals are usually without pregnancy symptoms and I had those.

I am OK for sure better than I thought I'd be and thankful to not be going though 12 weeks of misery.

Yes please keep me updated. Hope it goes well today. Please relax and think positive. Once they do it remember you are pregnant until proven otherwise so believe in that.

@Hyppyb im gutted for you, I had everything crossed this would be your time. On the plus side you managed to get pregnant again in quick succession so you’re relatively fertile so there’s no issues there and would certainly give me hope that you will eventually get a lasting positive.
I would still go for the scan just for clarification and maybe they will be able to give further feedback even if it is just something small.
As suspected im up early as can’t sleep. Thanks for thinking of me, I’ll keep you updated x

Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 23:03

@SH998 im sure everything will be fine, I’m sending baby vibes your way. Baby aspirin I take at 10pm at night that’s how I was told to take it, so try before bed. Many people get their positives at 4DPT so it’s not too early, just have to try to be realistic and know that a positive can happen later.

So I took a test tonight and it’s faded so much I can barely see a line. This different brand of strips aren’t great. I will be surprised if there’s a positive tomorrow. Maybe Friday it will be 100% negative. It is like a chemical pregnancy as the lines faded before 5 weeks although if I see an increase after this it would be likely an ectopic. I realised with a chemical usually what would happen now after a faint test, then negative is a delayed period but I’m on the eostrogen so I’m guessing I won’t bleed.

So will wait until it’s definitely negative and then call the clinic to get confirmation to stop the meds, also my HCG is so low now that I think that means there’s too little to increase again like the body will expel everything with my period. Going to EPU anyway to get examined and see their opinion on what happened but they probably won’t know or give clear answers. I did have aches in my side but may have been gas, may have been hormones, may be ectopic I don’t think I will know.

This journey,.,.good luck tomorrow. Hope it goes well.

@Hyppyb i plan on doing the above this time around. The transfer itself is easy and over in minutes, it’s always later the panic and stress kicks in. I’ve been taking aspirin each morning with my meds, 6am, is it ok to take it that time tomorrow?
I’ll be doing the strips first then only buy the plastic tests if the strips are positive. I’ve no doubt I’ll be testing by day 4! My partner will freak coz he knows I’ll be upset if it’s negative so early, makes no different when you get that negative as it heartbreaking anytime but I think he likes to live in ‘the fairytale’ it’s worked that little bit longer.
Hey, don’t give up hope yet, it’s early days and all bodies behave differently. You might just have a little lazy bean who’s taking its time to get comfy :)

Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 21:48

@SH998 it's so weird. Last pregnancy was like an out if body experience, I never felt connected or believed I was pregnant was so alien to it, more innocent and believing id have a baby. Then this time even though I was on egg shells, I didn't feel alien to my pregnancy, was more real and knew anything could happen. Definitely more prepared for the worst. More grounded.

You are right, still early days, I read its every 72 hours hcg needs to double so could be ok with really low levels but will be realistic. Will take a test tonight and in the morning.

That's really sweet that'd you'd go bed early almost like at Xmas. 🤣 I'm the opposite I go bed and then wake up at 4.45am my pregnancy does that.

Yeah the actual transfer as you know you have nothing to worry about but yeah the 10 date wait is something else. Will you test with strips? Remember to walk, have chips after and baby asprin. I definitely believe baby asprin helped with impantation. Most important thing is to relax as best as you can.

@Hyppyb im gutted for you but still hoping for a positive outcome. It still early days. I suppose you will have a better idea over the next few days but I bet it will drag and seem like a week away! When I was pregnant I would go to bed at 8pm to make the nights go faster so waking up would mean another day was done and another day closer to some positive news.
The clinic will call me tomorrow morning with a time, I’m ok about it at the moment. It’s the week after that the emotions kick in when test day gets closer. I haven’t packed my bag yet so will do that tomorrow.

Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 19:21

Just been doing some reading with a woman questioning her HCG at 4 weeks, only 116. Responses were different women saying about their healthy pregnancies-

4 weeks 5 days HCG was 91 and then 5 weeks 200 HCG, her next pregnancy 4 weeks 77 HCG.

4 weeks 2 days HCG was 30.

So sounds like it’s not always a definite bad thing I mean 91 at 4 weeks 5 days is probably around what I am. So I have a glimmer of hope I guess as in most cases I would think low HCG doesn’t equal it being good.

I read it’s unlikely to see anything on the ultrasound if HCG is below 2,000. Unless I get a HCG boost by Tuesday that is doubtful.

What will be will be.

Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 16:55

I never tested this long last time but I feel like the longer you test the more darker the pregnancy strip is the next day. So early on where you are like 10hcg, the next day you are around 15, the next day 20 so the increase is less noticeable and faint but by now if you are like 250 hcg the next day 375 and the next 500 hcg its like so obviously darker. That's where I feel I would be by now.

I thing I'm 4 weeks 4 days. Last time I was 5 weeks 4 days I thing when I had the full on pain bleeding, so will see if in the next week anything gets bad.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 16:27

@SH998 no I wouldnt know more than you. Information regarding ectopic pregnancy is very sketchy. Ectopic pregnancies there's no rhyme or reason to the pattern of hcg to diagnose it. They said I had an ectopic because they couldnt find the baby anywhere definitely not in the womb, then my hcg decreased so they said miscarriage then increased so they said ectopic.

So the rise, fall, rise again = ectopic or also a plateau. So that could be what is happening now, my hcg went up, might be decreasing or a plateau and then it could rise again. That's why even if I bleed soon I need to still see the EPU. Last time they said miscarriage and then my hcg without realising doubled which is dangerous. Many women have several ectopics. I hoped it being a frozen transfer would really reduce the risks and the doc assured me she released the embryo perfectly so shouldn't go into the fallopian tube.

If its found to be ectopic (although I doubt they will be sure it is as the hcg is so low) I will see about getting both my tubes removed, have to go private as I can't keep doing this. I feel like when this happens I feel quite numb but sad also and then angry / frustrated. But my hcg is still so low so if it is anything bad hoping it can be resolved sooner rather than later like next week rather than 12 crazy week bleeding! That was something else

Thank you and thank you for not thinking I'm a drama queen. 😌i did the clearblue to check my concerns as I understand the new strips work different naturally taking less dye but they should get darker. I feel like I'm preparing for bleeding,...altho who knows might not be any by Tuesday.

Its so strange that when you get that positive of the day of your next cycle you have a 70% chance of having live birth. So why does it feel like the odds aren't in our favour.

Your transfer is tomorrow. How you feeling? All set?

OP posts:
SH998 · 12/07/2023 15:48

@Hyppyb the line does look darker on the older tests but as you say it’s a different brand so might show differently. I really hope it’s neither and the pregnancy continues successfully but should it end obviously let’s hope it’s via miscarriage and not ectopic. Surely you can’t be that unlucky to suffer again. I know the risks are higher but jeez you deserve this break!
Im thinking it’s not ectopic as the HCG should still rise even if it’s in the wrong location shouldnt it? You would know more than me on that.

Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 15:41

I read 10dpt you should have at least 50 hcg so 14dpt around 200 hcg. I'm clearly not that.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 15:32

@SH998 i only know about chemical pregnancies through word of mouth and from researching what can go wrong with a pregnancy. It’s where you test early, see a faint positive line and it fades or disappears, then you get a heavier period a week later. The embryo failed to implant properly but did initially hence the HCG. Many women have them and don’t realise, they just think it’s a bad period. Looking at my tests strip with the old ones my lines got really dark, plus I had pregnancy symptoms, it’s more likely to be miscarriage (implanted well but embryo stopped developing) or ectopic.

Clearblue indicates weeks from conception not from last period. I tested Clearblue 7 days ago said 1 to 2 weeks, fine, but a week later it said the same thing. In my last message you will see where I work out the minimum the HCG would have to be for it to be ok, plus 75% every couple days is ok too, so it’s possible it’s ok. I don’t feel there’s anything wrong with the Clearblue test as like I said the new pregnancy test strip is not getting darker so Clearblue was my confirmation that my HCG is plateauing or decreasing. Of course not 100%.

I’m not panicking or stressing, the better strip test will be here I think Saturday, I’m not going to rush it or buy another HCG test. If I’m losing the pregnancy I’m losing the pregnancy. Will keep using the current strip test although I only have 5 left. Just see how I go. There’s not much i can do. If it is what I’m thinking it really sucks but that’s how it goes, If it is a normal miscarriage not an ectopic that’s not worse case scenario, worst case is an ectopic, of course best case is I don’t lose the pregnancy and my HCG is just at a lower than average but at a ok rate increase.

i took a photo of the test to me it looks like it’s fading also as I said this test doesn’t naturally take a lot of the dye and only gives strong lines at 3000 HCG, but it not getting darker I feel it what flagged it up. It’s it’s a miscarriage or an ectopic if the hcg disappears from the test that would be helpful as it means I don’t have to go through what I did last time. That can happen at low levels. My HCG was 7900 at 5 weeks last time I’m nowhere near that this time. Hence why I really suffered last time.

@Hyppyb I don't know a lot about chemical pregnancies so ill be no help on that front. So your test should show 2-3 weeks as you would be 3 weeks today? I know they add a few weeks etc but on the pregnancy test it indicates the actual weeks doesn't it? Could you try another Clearblue in case there was an issue with the one you used.
As for the other strips, any chance you can order next day delivery?
As its still early I get there's nothing they can do or maybe not even see at this point, this doesn't help you though :(
Is there an at home HCG test you can carry out?

Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 10:38

@SH998 I'm 19dpt today. Clearblue said 1 to 2 weeks today. I've worked out if my first positive was 5dpt ( not sure as the trigger) so a minimum of 10 hcg if you double every 2 days it should be a minimum of 240hcg. If the first positive was 7dpt when I tested my clearblue originally it would be 120hcg minimum now that's best case scenario.

The problem is the test strips aren't getting darker over a day and a half. They are new strips not the same brand as old strips different material but they should darken.

Early pregnancy there's nothing you can do. Especially if your not in pain even then they can't save the pregnancy.

My symptoms are as I said before I'm having pregnancy symptoms like gas and tired and light ache in my side. But only like 3 mins a day. Last time it was 5 weeks when I started having signs of an ectopic. Moderate pain in my side and then bleeding.

I've ordered the old strips. Maybe hcg isn't doubling but it can be 75% every 2 to 3 days that's ok. But it's not looking great. I don't think its chemical because you don't have pregnancy symptoms usually.

OP posts:
SH998 · 12/07/2023 10:04

@Hyppyb Nooo! Don't say this. When should the test say 2-3 weeks, what day are you now? I've checked back on my notes and I was showing 2-3 weeks on the Clearblue 14 days after the transfer date so was 19dp5dt . Maybe your not quite there yet? Are the feelings similar to your last ectopic? Your scan is next Tuesday isn't it? Can you get in any sooner or do you have to be so far along so they have something to look at?

Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 06:28

Update - I think I'm having a chemical pregnancy or ectopic. I switched to the other hcg pregnancy strips that are lighter than the prior strips, so I thought as long as the strips gets slightly dark every couple days its fine, it's fine, so today to me it's looks lighter. So I took another Clearblue and it came up 1 to 2 weeks from conception, so I'm 152 hcg or under still, I should be over that by now if I'm doubling every 2 days.

I looked online and a woman had the same results and she was told it was either a chemical or ectopic pregnancy, she lost her pregnancy. So nothing much I can do. I've ordered the old tests strips see how they tests won't get them for a couple days now.

I'm trying to stay realistic about everything.

Also those 50 women out if 100, majority of them will be women like you who haven't conceived naturally for years with a partner now having IVF. Only a minority will be women like myself, single or lesbian or a surrogate. So we are going to think positive. 😊

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 11/07/2023 12:49

@SH998 the psychological aspect of trying to conceive is tricky like we both know we want to have a baby end of but you hear about people saying stress and emotional mentality can contribute to not conceiving. So it's important that you 100% believe this next FET will be your baby but also being like well if it fails you have two other embryos so it's not all or nothing. Kind of a laid back approach.

Even if you did have to go private remember there is Finance where you can pay it off in a year interest free or longer over years with interest. So I know its hard but definitely try to be as relaxed as you can. You said you want to try everything and being all nonchalant to the best of your ability is one of those things. Just take the positives as you get them, like you have a lovely thick lining, your on loads of progesterone and you have your embryo transfer in a couple days. No reason it can't be this embryo, it only takes one, B grade is 50/50. 50 Women in a room of 100 will get pregnant. Could be you.

I'm OK. I ran out of strip tests, got more but it was the wrong one, this new strip the pregnancy line is very faint like the test doesn't transfer a lot of dye only until 3000hcg will it be 2 strong lines whilst the prior test I had got to 11dpt with 2 kind of strong lines. Was looking for a dye stealer. That won't happen now. As long as the test gets darker it should be OK.

I'm still full of gas in my chest or rib area. I still have light aches every now and then in my left hip, but have felt something in my right one. Stitch pain from gas is possible. As I said I never had real gas in my last pregnancy maybe because the placenta was in the wrong place. So might be a good sign this time. 7 days until my nhs appointment.

But yeah really hoping your FET goes well. Would be lovely if it happened now.

OP posts:
SH998 · 11/07/2023 12:01

@Hyppyb thank you for the above your always so helpful :). Lets hope it wouldn't come to that. However, I feel if I've gone through 2 collections and 6 transfers (that's what it will be once all embryos from this cycle are done) then I either give up or throw everything at it and have every test they can offer me. That is still a way off so ill decide which route to take nearer the time.
How are you feeling today? Anymore symptoms?

Hyppyb · 10/07/2023 15:58

Here's my clinic's page on hysteroscopy.

What IVF dose and how many eggs did you get?
OP posts:
Hyppyb · 10/07/2023 15:34

*6 weeks and 6 days for my clinics viability scan. I guess the idea with clinics is if there’s something wrong there will be symptoms and the person can deal with them as is. I guess the average person doesn’t see their baby until 12 weeks. So the healthcare system is very nonchalant about early pregnancy. In my head I’m like wow imagine if I don’t have the bad symptoms or bleeding the next few weeks that would be good.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 10/07/2023 15:09

@SH998 yes, over covid I had a Hysteroscopy with the NHS waited 6 months, they did it without the speculum, I think I waited that long because of covid. If you go private it’s £2k that’s what my clinic charges. There are conditions where the womb lining isn’t ok, due to disease, infection or a condition that’s best seen via a Hysteroscopy but I doubt this is the case with you. The clinic would have said something if they believed it to be the case and once you achieved a pregnancy that would make it unlikely.

A colleague couldn’t conceive for 7 years, moved home, did all sorts to get pregnant, but then a hypnotherapist was at her workplace, she saw him and got pregnant straight away. She believes it was to do with her father dying like repressed. But then I know many people who naturally get pregnant after many years. I get why you are going this route I’d be the same for sure.

I suck at finger pricks. I won’t be doing it for the at home gender reveal test. Regarding the Lubion the only thing that got me though ivf injections were the numbing creams. Definitely buy them. Don’t need to get actual McDonald’s one, could just have oven chips that’s what I did. Only a few more days for your transfer.

Im ok. The wind was ok today, it felt like it was going to bust through my ribs at the weekend. The small ache in my left hip is kind of concerning me but I feel like it really could be wind. I rubbed near it and could hear wind after. Last time I guessed the shooting pains were wind, it wasn’t, this time I know my torso has a lot of wind for sure as I can actually hear it, so I am being balanced, just obviously don’t want to go through 4 months of being ill again, then trying again end of the year. I’m only 4 weeks 4 days but this pregnancy is different so far like I feel like I’m have pregnancy symptoms, tired, gas, last time I only had the what I thought was gas but wasn’t even though my HCG back then was 7900.

So found out my clinic the 6 week viability scan is 2 to over 3 weeks and they barely have appointments. I’m going when I’m 6 weeks and 7 days…part of me is like hello I’m at risk of ectopic pregnancies, obviously I have the nhs but then a later appointment is better because of my fibroids, baby will be bigger so better view. By then I’m hoping I will know more with the nhs.

OP posts:
SH998 · 10/07/2023 10:09

@Hyppyb these injections are far more painful than the stims, not quite sure why as they are the same size and I couldn't feel them going in but afterwards the area is really sore. I can only assume its the contents rather than the injection itself.

SH998 · 10/07/2023 08:49

@Hyppyb you can see a progression line on the above tests so that's a great sign :) It wouldn't be long and your scan date will be here, hopefully that will put your mind at ease a little and you can start to enjoy.
Did you go ahead with the hysteroscopy via the NHS? If so, how long was the actual wait. As I'm unexplained I would probably have additional tests that they push for, we have tried naturally for 7 years so it will never happen alone, any test, regardless of the price would be a help.
I've been fine since that first injection of Lubion so maybe as it was new to my body it was reacting in a certain way. I've read the side effects and that wasn't mentioned but I'm not too bothered by it. Done my finger prick for the progesterone this morning, that was a fun experience! How they expect you to get any blood in that tube is beyond me. I've sent it away but they wouldn't be able to test on the small amount provided, I even jabbed 3 fingers and still not much lol. Yes I've heard about the McDonalds fries, I didn't do this last time so its a must this time :)
How are you feeling today? I hope you manage to control the wind being back in ten office lol :)
