Hey,

It's my second cycle if ivf, I'm on Bemfola 225 iu and it's day 4 of my cycle. Last time I was on Gonal F 150iu. Was wondering if it will produce more eggs now.

Just wanted to ask anyones dosage, the name of their ivf medication and the egg result, home many were retrieved?

@Hyppyb thank you, I couldn't hold off anymore last night, I kept googling symptoms and reading threads and it was upsetting me thinking of another negative so I went for it, the sooner I tested the sooner I could deal with the outcome. I'm sure in February I was testing from day 2 which seriously messed with my head when it stayed negative. I've compared this mornings to my day 7 last positive and it seems on par even though this is a day behind so maybe a little stronger. Still no other symptoms. Same as you were, I'm so cautious this time around as I know how easy and quickly things can change. I got carried away first time looking at baby clothes/furniture, ill be holding off until I'm sure all is OK this time. I'm hoping this will be my time at last :)
I completely understand what you mean about gossiping in the workplace, you get them everywhere and they thrive on others unhappiness. I keep my personal business to myself, no one here knows I'm going through IVF apart from my manager who has been amazing and HR as I had to complete a sick note last year for the miscarriage.
So your appointment went as planned, they didn't find anything untoward which is a good sign and as the nurse said you got pregnant again very quickly after the trauma of the ectopic so that's a good sign going forward.
Is your clinic not sympathetic towards your situation, surely that's unprofessional making you feel a failure. In fact its awful they make you feel that way. My clinic have been amazing each time, considering its NHS I haven't been able to fault them (well apart from the 8 weeks I waited for bloods lol). So your going to push for an August transfer, what's the likely date to be based on your period (when it finally arrives this month). Has it turned up yet?

Hyppyb · 19/07/2023 07:45

What made you decide to test before 7dpt? I think you implanted pretty early to have lines that strong. The hatching embryo. I've never had lines that strong at 6dpt. What do you think worked for you this time?

@SH998 congratulations...very strong lines there.

What IVF dose and how many eggs did you get?
Hyppyb · 18/07/2023 18:00

I'm very private at work, i dont say im single or talking about relationships when ive been in them so at work i know theyve put me in a box that im single so if I do get to announce a pregnancy they will be so shocked! I don't plan on sharing details.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 18/07/2023 17:49

@SH998 every pregnancy will be different even with the same person. I get the wanting to see symptoms but that's not always the case even if it is could be meds / hormones. All you can do is test when you're ready. Got my fingers crossed for you. Even if it doesn't happen you have other embryos so still have options.

My company are full of gossips and drama queens. They're so unprofessional so if I shared it would be round the building and would love the entertained by the highs and lows whilst im suffering. My ectopic I did tell HR but that was only because we're friends outside of the company too. So my appointment I tell them it's for other things like dentist etc. My collections I book holiday off. Its hard as I have to book a month in advance and don't know when they are going to be.

My appointment went how I expected, they did the scan, couldn't see anything but did see fluid which could mean anything. They're putting it down as pregnancy in unknown location which just means they've not seen a pregnancy. Couldnt say what pain could be. Then saw nurse who remembered me through my 10 week stint of hcg blood tests for my ectopic. She was surprised how quickly I tried and wanted to know it all. I said hope to be back with a real pregnancy and she was like they're all real and good how quickly i got pregnant. She took blood as they can't take my word my hcg is negative. If its not that baileys I drank over the weekend wasn't a good idea🤣...she will call tomorrow.

So got follow up with clinic Thursday will just be same old but has to be done to proceed with FET. I feel like they just make me feel like I'm a failure and how there must be something wrong with me even tho 95% is down to the normality of the embryo. They don't care that ive had pregnancies.

I've spent so much money already I think that's the only reason I'm like do i go ahead with another egg collection. I was saying to a friend really every should try 12 times as that is the equivalent to the year docs say for trying to conceive as 92% will be successful. I've not tried 12 times yet.

So are you testing 7 days past. I've never waited that long. I couldnt. I feel it's not worth stressing that testing gives me some control and release.

SH998 · 18/07/2023 09:37

@Hyppyb thanks for the feedback, it does make me feel slightly better. I keep saying I didn't experience any implantation pains or symptoms on my first positive until after the test showed positive (approx. 7/8 days) but I keep ignoring this and my mental head is thinking I should now be having symptoms galore. I'm still holding off until 7 days before testing but am struggling with that now lol.
How are you managing with getting time off work? That could also add to the stress of it all if employers are not flexible. I've been lucky in that regard but I know some companies are not.
IVF is tough, all aspects of it, if you pass one hurdle there's always another waiting for you to overcome.
Keep me updated on your appointment talks please, I know you don't expect to get much from them but you never know :)

Hyppyb · 18/07/2023 09:21

@SH998 my first pregnancy I had sharp stabbing pains in my womb I think 2dpt to 3 or 4dpt and then that was it no other signs. Its too early for you to have pregnancy symptoms only implantation cramps that are only a day or two. There is none or little hcg in your blood stream if you are pregnant to give off symptoms. So your expectations of constant symptoms i would ignore that. As I said before this pregnancy I had no symptoms until after I tested. I understand the panic but you really can't tell.

No bleeding as I said I think it will be Wednesday as in the past it's taken around 5 days for me to start bleeding post stopping my meds. Got my appointment at 4.20pm at the EPU.

It's hard all of this....

OP posts:
SH998 · 18/07/2023 08:53

@Hyppyb a little disheartened today, haven't had anymore pains since afternoon of 3days post transfer, boobs felt heavy last night but completely fine today. I feel completely normal so I'm now taking that as a negative. I've held off testing, I was buckling a little this morning but was so upset just thinking of it I didn't do it. I couldn't deal with the upset before work.
How are you feeling? Have you started bleeding yet?

Hyppyb · 17/07/2023 11:50

@SH998 2 to 4 days post transfer is when the baby implants hence implantation cramps. I understand not wanting to get your hopes up for sure.

I feel in the same boat as you as I have to decide when to stop as well. I was at a disadvantage as only half my eggs were collected my first transfer and that may happen again. Because of the fibroid in the way and if that doc on day of collection will attempt both ovaries it like my 2nd collection where I finally got 5 day blastocyst.

I get what you're saying for me it is down to the right embryo but also not getting into my tube again. For me it's not straightforward either.

It's not that I'm looking forward to my period it's that when it comes I will be miscarrying so of course a little apprehensive by it. I know it will be fine but it's still a miscarriage. I think it will come Wednesday as the meds will be out my system by then.

The EPU does deal with miscarriages so may give some tips

SH998 · 17/07/2023 11:15

@Hyppyb I'm really trying not to get my hopes up but its tough. The stabbing pain started about midday on day 2, only about 3/4 stabs so didn't think much of it, then happened again a few more times later that day. They were a little more regular yesterday (day 3) but far from regular or OTT and possibly not as strong. I've had nothing today so not sure what that means? Any idea? I feel completely normal today.
I'm going to do my best to hold out to day 7 (1 week after transfer), which ever way it goes I should have the answer then, I don't want to test sooner as I don't want to begin the heartache all over again sooner than I have too. I like living in my little 'pregnant' bubble :)
I'm frightened for another collection as once I'm at that stage ill be asking myself how much further do I take it as that would be my third collection and god knows how many transfers by then. As your situation is different to mine and you have no issues with getting pregnant its just a matter of 'when' for you. For me its a massive 'if' it happens, when do I call it a day and admit defeat, that's what frightens me as that day might very well come.
Your clinic seem to be working well for you, is there any point in changing and possibly stressing yourself out over it, there's probably not much a different clinic would change for you as you have managed to get pregnant on more than 1 occasion, that's half the battle.
Your period will come when it comes, if its anything like mine it will make you wait knowing your eager for it to show for a change lol

Hyppyb · 17/07/2023 08:19

@SH998 yeah you said you bleed between periods but don't know what causes. Maybe there's a condition where you womb lining bleeds. I have issues with heavy bleeding because of fibroids.

Stabbing pains this early is definitely a good sign. Possible sign of implantation. My failed FET it was more like twinges and aches in my hips not my stabbing in my womb that only ever happened my first pregnancy. So your 4dpt....can't believe your clinic wants you to wait another 10 days.

The light ache in my side reminded me of how traumatic my ectopic was and how the thought of another scares me. I'm definitely going to bring it up pre transfers now to ensure they very aware to release the embryo lower down if possible.

I'm not scared to have another egg collection. It's like what else can you do if you need another? It's annoying and maybe frustrating but it's the only way. I was thinking about changing clinics but I don't think there's much point. The main clinic I had bad results their sister cheaper clinic I got better results, but as I'm over 39 and I think they offer it once anyway I would have to go back to the main clinic but would insist on the cheaper clinics meds etc. Then got to worry if they will access one or two ovaries because of my fibroid.

Will try not to stress as its pointless. Doesn't help anyone. I've felt a few stabbing feeling but not period yet. I think Wednesday it will happen as it takes 5 days when I stop my meds to bleed.

OP posts:
SH998 · 17/07/2023 04:55

@Hyppyb on both my failed transfers I started bleeding by 7 days after transfer even thought I was still taking meds on both. It wasnt period blood I wouldn’t say but it wasn’t good blood either if that makes sense.
I definately agree you need to attend EPU for piece of mind, if no further information can be given then so be it but you tried for answers.
As you say grades can improve in the womb so there’s every chance your slow 6 day will work, don’t forget it’s still an ever age grade.
Days 2 and 3 I had a few short like stabbing pains in my lower left side which could be the medication I’ve read. Even though I’ve not had these pains since starting the meds I suppose you just never know. I’m 100% sure I didn’t get these on the last 2 transfers, as for the first positive I honestly can’t remember.

Hyppyb · 16/07/2023 08:30

@SH998 14 days after transfer? Thats unusual. I've heard of 9 or 10 days post transfer never 14 days. That's 5 days after a period. I still had a line 14 days past transfer but it had fainted, 10, 11 and 12 days past transfer the lines were very strong. So as I said if you waited 14 days there's things you might not know about your pregnancy like a chemical. Testing before 5dpt there's not much action. 5dpt onwards you could see a pregnancy for sure. Do what's best for you. Like test when you feel it's right.

Part of me is thinking my grade was C = average inner mass the baby and B = over average placenta...maybe that's what happened my placenta was good and implanted but the baby wasn't so it didn't survive hence a chemical pregnancy. Sometimes grades do improve in the womb so hope that happens with my slow 6 day 4cb.

I've not started bleeding yet. I won't until I think Wednesday so my period/miscarriage bleed which will be like a heavy period. The eostrogen shuts down your cycle so your period is delayed so remember that when you get to the day of your period that a late period doesn't mean you're pregnant only the test will tell you that.

Got my app on Tuesday at 4.20 at the EPU really to talk about the pain in my ectopic area this pregnancy. I just know I won't get any answers. Best to try. They can reassure me or give advice about it in the least you know.

Any symptoms yet?

OP posts:
SH998 · 16/07/2023 06:42

@Hyppyb no, our clinic advised to test 14 days after transfer which I think is something like the 27th, I wouldn’t be able to wait that long but that was the official test day last positive, it must be something our clinic advises. I don’t think mentally it will do me any good testing before 5 days, I’m living in my bubble until proven otherwise. I haven’t even been tempted to test yet but it is extremely early.
Well this latest pregnancy has really proven any grade counts so will have everything crossed for you. I really hope you don’t have to go through another collection.
The stress of a FET I find bad enough, to begin the whole process again frightens the shit out of me lol 😂

Hyppyb · 15/07/2023 08:13

@SH998 The clinic told me to test 9dpt so is that when your partner is saying as that's 14 days past ovulation? People who wait that long I feel its fine. The only thing I would say is let's say this time you get a negative (hoping its positive) on 9dpt. Are you OK not knowing that you may have had a chemical pregnancy, I.e. got a positive very early on and then it faded before you tested. I think your someone who would want to know as you will get some comfort that you got pregnant rather than just keep getting negatives for when you try again. See what I mean?

I only have one embryo left now a day 6 4CB. Will do everything the same. I'm calling this a chemical pregnancy. I don't know if it tried implanting in the right place and failed or in my left tube again (where they suspected) and failed I don't know.

Will have to have a 3rd egg collection in October if it doesn't go my way next month, hoping it does. Would be lovely if next month that was it.

OP posts:
SH998 · 15/07/2023 06:15

@Hyppyb my partner wants me to hold out until day 14, as if! Lol. I’m going to try to hold off until day 7 but being me I doubt I’ll last that long. Last positive was quite faint on day 7 so I wonder if that would have shown sooner, that’s why I’m using the day 7 as a starting point.
Will you think of trying something different for the next FET or continue as you are? To be fair you don’t appear to have issues getting pregnant so there’s probably not much you need to change. What grade is your last embryo? It’s similar to the last one isn’t it?

Hyppyb · 14/07/2023 18:22

Forgot to say I have my follow up Thursday. Will start my FET mid August. Got to move move move. Don't have time to hang about.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 14/07/2023 17:52

I was just looking at my progression line and today there is really faint line so its interesting she called and said it was negative which is 5 hcg and below. Test strips pick up at least 10 and blood tests are more sensitive and purer than urine tests. Must have just really dropped super quickly

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 14/07/2023 16:59

@SH998 I disagree. I think if you are antsy and stressed it's best to have an outlet like Google and researching. It's a way of releasing your stress. It's better out than in. Plus im the same. I think repressing feelings isn't good. If you get the urge do it!

Day by day. Did you say you will test from 4dpt. At least you don't have the trigger so will 100% know. I feel like you have to stop believing there's an issue. Try to believe in your body. All the tests haven't shown an issue and you've had a pregnancy, the likelihood is it ended because of a chromosomal issue which is like majority of women, so nothing wrong with you.

The clinic called and said my bloods were negative. My hcg much have dropped so quickly. So now that I have stopped meds I should start my period/miscarriage bleed mid next week. I will put this down to chemical pregnancy. Last time I implanted very well in the wrong place and this time I didn't implant enough.

I've not told the EPU I'm about to miscarry. I might get told off. Ah well. I don't see the appointment as just a scan it's like a check up. When I was pregnant even now I've had a slight pain in my ectopic area. I want someone to say it's likely this or likely that. No one can ever be 100% but I think it's important to still go. If I had stop testing I'd be non the wiser thinking I'm pregnant as the meds stop you from your period. Crazy no one tells you to keep testing I didn't last time once I got my dye stealer. Online women do stop testing.

OP posts:
SH998 · 14/07/2023 13:31

@Hyppyb I think I need to stop thinking about it, I’m constantly googling and checking for any changes. I need to realise there's nothing I can do regarding the outcome whichever way it goes. I just have to hope that it goes in my favour this time.
You have absolutely no issues with getting pregnant so something less for you to worry about it just wasn’t the right time. I clearly have an issue so my stress levels are through the roof on every try.
Please keep me posted on the results, you know what the outcome is but having that final clarification will close a book on this chapter. Will you still attend next weeks scan or do you cancel that? Not sure of the process.

Hyppyb · 14/07/2023 09:58

@SH998 First pregnancy I had sharp implantation cramps on 2dpt for over a day. I've said before implantation cramps 30% of women get them. Second pregnancy I had no symptoms before my positive. After I had gas and fatigue. So don't let not feeling something worry you and sometimes even if you do it's the hormones.

Had blood test. They said 3.30pmish they either call. My guess is it will be like 15hcg which is great on day of missed pregnancy but not now. Will be good to move on. My track record for 5 day blastocyst is 2 out of 3 pregnancies. So I clearly have no issues with getting pregnant via ivf. That's something.

OP posts:
SH998 · 14/07/2023 08:59

@Hyppyb woke up feeling fine, not a single sign of any niggles etc, I honestly cant remember the first few days for my positive so not sure if I did last time. Its been less than 24 hours so I know I'm being unrealistic and pretty insane to expect something already. This is how mental I am! lol.
When did you start feeling things on both yours? Anything within the first few days?
Let me know how you get on today with the bloods. Your being very level headed on this, I wish I could be.

Hyppyb · 13/07/2023 21:07

@SH998 im thrilled it went well, that’s really lovely to hear. Sounds very hopeful with the embryo already hatching. Could implant tomorrow. Very exciting. That’s so good you did your walk and had your chips. Nothing more you can do now. Just let your body do it all. Just remember pregnancies are different even for the same person, so no symptoms doesn’t mean you are not pregnant as I had zero symptoms this pregnancy early on.

Bloods is same day. I’ve come to terms the pregnancy is over, but I’m still taking my meds until I’m told not to. The clinic has the photo of the line progression and the line fading. The nurse mentioned about me switching brands so unsure if they’re thinking somethings wrong with the test, I don’t believe so I’m only guessing that’s what they’re thinking. What else? Maybe they’re holding at straws? I don’t know as I’ve moved on already. You have to to move forward.

i’m ok. I think you know I’m a very balanced and realistic person, I never get swept up as a great high is always a big drop so I’ve stayed as grounded and relaxed as I can and I’m thankful this experience was nothing like the last pregnancy.

My plan is to have another FET in August.

OP posts:
SH998 · 13/07/2023 20:34

@Hyppyb Appointment was 1.30pm, went down about 2.15pm as they wanted me to drink more water. It went really well and I did get a little pic :)
This time it felt different, I can’t describe how, maybe I felt more positive leaving. Strange as we walked out my partner said ‘I felt that was far more relaxed than last time, it felt like it was meant to be this time’ I hadn’t even said how I felt at this point.
They put in the 5BB which had already started hatching, they said that was a good sign as was showing it’s doing what it’s meant to do.
Let’s hope that’s a positive and ends with a positive and a full term pregnancy 🙏🏻🤞🏼.
I went for a 20 minute walk afterwards and also had chips for lunch with lots of salt (not McDonald fries though).
How soon will you get the bloods back? They will show if the pregnancy has in fact ended? Your obviously still feeling that way. Such a shame.
