Hey,

It's my second cycle if ivf, I'm on Bemfola 225 iu and it's day 4 of my cycle. Last time I was on Gonal F 150iu. Was wondering if it will produce more eggs now.

Just wanted to ask anyones dosage, the name of their ivf medication and the egg result, home many were retrieved?

@Hyppyb Merry Christmas, although not so merry for you :(
How did todays HCG levels go, I hope the injection is working and no surgery is required.
You did say at the time it might be etopic, a woman knows her own baby and you clearly know yours. I didn’t realise there’s a 15% chance of it happening again, try not to think of that, hopefully you’ve had a bit of bad luck and it’s a one off, once your body recovers fully you will get some positive news.
3 months is a long time to wait when it’s all you can think of but hopefully the time will fly by. Try to keep yourself busy x

Hyppyb · 24/12/2022 09:46

@SH998 so I need to go back to the hospital Tuesday and Thursday to make sure the hcg decreases. If it doesn't it means another injection and if not after that then surgery. I was given a choice operation that would likely remove my left fallopian tube or the injection that stops cells dividing. I know ivf isn't reliant on fallopian tubes but still didn't want them removed.

3 weeks ago I had like 3 scans that week. Back then I told them it's an etopic pregnancy because of the side pain, only now they agree.

I'm still bleeding after 11 days, there's a slight ache tenderness in my side and not had a bout of pain in 3 days. Injection was yesterday evening so very early days. I'm hoping anymore pain won't be too bad.

Part of me is like at least I know why the pregnancy failed but then another part is like this is likely to happen again, up to 15%. Plus its hard enough to get pregnant. I can't try for 3 months because the injection.

@Hyppyb im so sorry to hear that, having a miscarriage is hard enough as it is without added complications. How long will they leave you go before taking further action?
You had your initial scan about 2 weeks ago didn’t you? Any more pain/bleeding? X

Hyppyb · 23/12/2022 21:55

@SH998 So had my nhs app, they scanned me, did hcg and I got a call at 3pm to say my hcg is rising, its gone from 7900 to 1700 to 4000 so they think it's an etopic pregnancy, it's developing somewhere they think my left fallopian tube as I've kept saying that's where the pain is for 2 weeks. So had the injection today to help miscarry.

Hope you're well.

@SH998 it's good to hear how positive you are. Hopefully the video consultation goes well. Fresh cycles for me were OK, only the discomfort of the bloating from the egg collection.

So I started bleeding Tuesday, nothing heavy and no pain. Then Wednesday night I woke up, my side in extreme pain, which radiated to my whole body, barely got downstairs, took paracetamols, tried to sleep on sofa. That was rough. Then bleeding no pain. A long stringy stretch thing came out so I guess that was the placenta, clots have come out but nothing substantial to where I think everything has passes.

I'm still bleeding. I've had this slight pain in my left side, if I cough or move around I feel it. This morning my side started hurting so took pills. So 5 days of bleeding. Two weeks ago when I was in pain all day, spotted, I went to the hospital because of the side pain thinking it was etopic. The docs weren't fussed by it. I have my nhs specialist on 23rd so will tell her if that pain is still there as I'm thinking maybe it's in my fallopian tube. They may need to operate who knows.

Physically it's been hard. Emotionally I've been ok. I keep thinking it may come later like feeling upset. I'm quite methodical when I got pregnant I kept thinking of stats, chemical pregnancies so it was always a possibility in my head. So when it happened it was very disappointing but not shocking. I want to try again soon but saw you're meant to wait, some say 3 months, I think my 2nd period I might.

FET is physically easier but chemically it's rough. Not looking forward to that again.

@Hyppyb how are you feeling? Any pain/bleeding? That’s great news you still have some Frosties left, FET appears less stressful for the body although it didn’t agree with me.
Im waiting on a video consultation with the clinic but I don’t expect that to be this side of Christmas. Gives me time to get my weight back to where it should be again. I assume the long time is just the standard NHS times. X

Hyppyb · 13/12/2022 22:33

@SH998 so does it take longer because you have to wait for the nhs to green light the next round. I've paid everything myself because even though was under 40, I'm single so don't qualify but saying that I do have the money, last time I was able to get a round on a clinic that was much cheaper that's where I got pregnant and got 4 embryos. So now I just pay £2k for each FET.

Thanks for sharing. I don't think its passed. I suffer from heavy periods, which lead to a blood transfusion from anemia so in some ways I feel a bit prepared. There was a red clot that came out a week ago when I had all that pain but it wasn't much then It stopped bleeding, i was then admitted and told my hcg was 7900 which is crazy high for 5 weeks. Then my hcg started dropping and a baby never found on the scans.

3bb is good, but 4cb is poor quality but still a fair chance of pregnancy.

Hope you get your next round soon. I feel its good if you can bypass the knock back and just move forward. I had 5 knock backs of IUIs and a rubbish ivf cycle with a day 3 embryo to this last cycle where I got pregnant and have 3 embryos. Your next cycle might be the one especially as you know you can get pregnant.

@Hyppyb im receiving treatment through the NHS so not surprised it’s taking longer. I have another 2 attempts providing its before I’m 40, after 40 I’m only allowed 2 egg collections on the NHS.
Again, this is pushing me to proceed, it’s taken long enough to get to this point to complete the first attempt (we started in May).
My periods are regular just very light, I also ovulate regularly so no idea why I’m unable to catch naturally. I missed a call from them today, called back but their message box was full so couldn’t leave a message, this is the norm lol.
That might have been the pain and most of it happening at that time (fingers crossed), I had very mild pain throughout the 2.5 weeks I was waiting with not a lot of blood. The night before it actually passed through the bleeding got heavier (still not as much as I expected) and pain increased, wasn’t agony just increased pain. I was a little naive as to what to expect, I thought it had passed without me kind of knowing within the 2 weeks but a friend said ‘you will know when it’s passed’ and they were right, I did the clot was far bigger!
Only you know when you feel ready to start again and how great having another 3 available. I’ll probably start as soon as they allow me x

Hyppyb · 13/12/2022 21:30

@SH998 are your periods irregular? Can the clinic not gage when they are due? I still can't believe how slow your clinic is. Mine are pretty fast. At the end of the day you're paying a lot of money so the service should be good. Have you spoken with the clinic yet?

So tomorrow I'd be 7 weeks. Today I started bleeding but no pain, its little blood, no clots. This makes me think, a week ago when I was in soooo much pain for hours, little blood came out, that could have been the main part of the miscarriage, I went in the hospital that day. Maybe now it's just bleeding no pain. I don't know.

I have 3 embryos. One 3BB and two 4CB. I really way to try again in January but of course I don't know until my body heals.

I think if you have the money, if you can put your disappointment and upset to the side you should try as soon as you can. Thats how I feel. Only one life and I do get how upsetting it can be all the knocks but one day it could be successful. Hope you get a lot of good embryos next time.

@Hyppyb my period had been trying to come since the day of the transfer so I’m convinced that’s why it didn’t work for me and not surprised I bleed so quickly once I stopped the meds.
Im hoping the wait wouldn’t be as long this time as FET was as harsh as the previous transfer but who knows.
How are you feeling? Any pains/bleeding? Have you just got to wait for nature to take its course now? If so, hopefully it wouldn’t take too long for you. Keep as busy as you can, the weeks are dragging for me as it’s all I can think off!
Sorry to hear your ill, theres always loads going around this time of year. You need to get yourself well ready for the next transfer, it’s difficult to know what’s best, if your like me you want to give your body a break to heal but then age is pushing you to proceed asap.
How many frosties do you have? X

Hyppyb · 12/12/2022 10:29

@SH998 Compared to my failed FET your period started do quickly after you stopped meds which is a good thing. Mine took 7 days and I felt so rough, cloudy, scattered, jittery, just not right and then period came and I felt a release. Can't believe how long you have to wait for your follow up that's really bad, they should talk to you soon to reassure you.

I saw nhs specialist, she didn't scan, said with dropping hcg that's it and to wait. I'm not waiting I'm keeping busy. Im also sick with a cold i picked up from the hospital.I have another appointment on the 23rd I guess she will check I'm OK after. I was thinking of doing my FET in January but I don't know how my body will be, when it will be ready.

Yeah it's so tough.

OP posts:
SH998 · 12/12/2022 06:09

@Hyppyb Your very brave.
Did you manage to speak to anyone sooner about your options or are they still making you wait for another scan?
I begun medical management 2 days after my first scan but they didn’t work and it ended up passing naturally almost 3 weeks later.
I am to call and tell them the test results today, it took weeks last time for me to even get a video consultation then another 4 weeks to get an appointment so I can’t see much happening now until February time. I stopped the meds Friday and am bleeding already. Tough times when you want something so badly. X

Hyppyb · 09/12/2022 07:24

@SH998 thanks. I was by myself but used to being by myself so that didn't make anything worst. I find going through this single easier because I don't have to deal with someone else's heartache, disappointment or decision making. I can move forward and process my feelings as I want without the added pressure of someone else's dream of a baby.

I feel OK. It was very early I'm 6 weeks 2 days so yes it's disappointing I know I can move on.

When do you have your doctors phone follow up consultation? My failed FET they just gave a generic reason gentic problems, which will be the same for me now.

OP posts:
SH998 · 08/12/2022 23:13

@Hyppyb oh I’m so sorry to hear that, it’s absolutely devastating isn’t it. I hope you wasnt alone receiving the news? I was when I had mine and all I wanted was a hug from someone.
If you call your EPU in the NHS tomorrow they should book you in for a scan within the next few days regardless of funded or private IVF and discuss your options. X

Hyppyb · 08/12/2022 22:27

@SH998 hey, so went for my scan and they couldn't find the baby, they said they didnt have a good view of the womb because of all my fibroids but they gave me a hcg test and its dropped again so it is looking like a miscarriage coming. They want me back in 10 days. I see a nhs doc tomorrow for scan because of being in hospital over the weekend. I now just want to not go back to the clinic and let the miscarriage happen, they do want me back for a scan in 10 days but I'd have to pay more and I just feel like most women go for a scan at 3 months and deal with miscarriages etc up til then. Might get scans on nhs earlier will see what the nhs doc says with scan tomorrow.

I got pregnant with a fresh transfer...my frozen was September with a pricier clinic, then another clinic did a cheaper package they upped their age limit to 39, so I applied for that and once accepted waited for my next cycle was due it was November.

I think my period from the failed FET was in October a week later than normal then my fresh transfer was the next cycle so there was no waiting

OP posts:
SH998 · 08/12/2022 22:00

@Hyppyb how was todays scan? I hope it’s put your mind at ease now a little.
That was my last frozen so now back to a fresh round which I hope works better for me. Can I ask when you started your fresh round after Septembers failed frozen, not sure of the waiting period. I just want to get moving again x

Hyppyb · 08/12/2022 07:09

@SH998 I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you're keeping positive too. I went through the same thing in September. A failed FET what made it worst was it was only one embryo from the cycle and the eostrogen left me feeling so bad. They didn't agree with me either I said before. Your body and hormones should feel better after your period starts. A big release of tension.

What's your next step? Other frozen embryos or new cycle? It's not easy all this.

I'm OK and not worrying loads. I just believe I was given wrong info from the nurse. If water can lower your hcg in a urine test then certainly a blood transfusion with non hcg blood plus all the saline IV I was on can affect it. Lower it.

I looked online only to find a non pregnant woman tested positively pregnant after a blood transfusion from a pregnant woman. Saying all that only will know more later. Just didn't want to believe wrong info.

OP posts:
SH998 · 07/12/2022 23:08

@Hyppyb try not to think the worse! I'm saying this and I know it’s easier said than done but you’re sat at home thinking every possible scenario you can and worrying to the point you’re not sleeping .. you need to keep as positive and chilled as possible.
You need to stay as calm as you can for your body and little baby's sake 🙂 Hopefully (I’ve got everything crossed) that all will be well tomorrow.
As for me, Im out, I knew from the second day of transfer it had failed so I’ll be discussing my meds next FET as they really didn’t agree with me.
Wishing you all the best for the scan tomorrow and please keep me updated 🙏🏻🤞🏼 x

Hyppyb · 07/12/2022 16:32

@SH998 how are you doing? Soon to start testing?

Have my scan tomorrow, but was in the hospital over the weekend thinking I could have been have a suspected etopic pregnancy, little blood and in pain. Stayed in hospital only because they found I was anemic from my heavy periods.

They did blood test said my hcg was 7000, then did a blood transfusion and then did a next blood test said my hcg was 2316, that it was signs of failing pregnancy. It was a nurse. I thought about it wouldn't a blood transfusion with no hcg affect your hcg levels? The nurse said no. I just don't believe that but have my scan so will see what they find tomorrow.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 01/12/2022 15:02

Sometimes it does go over your head for sure. All you hear is good news and less about the details. I found my doctors not very good at communicating info really. I've been trying for a year so I definitely understand the feeling of when will this end, after going through multiple attempts. It's not the easiest. I'm in the clinic on Thursday for the 6 week scan and really hoping i don't see them again until I decide whether to use the frozen embryos for a sibling.

Hope the light bleeding is something positive.

OP posts:
SH998 · 30/11/2022 13:43

They said 100% expanded, could that mean that it would implant sooner due to that? It really went over my head what they said, my partner took it in and explained it to me as I was too nervous to take anything in at that point. I only heard 100% and that was it lol x

Hyppyb · 30/11/2022 13:27

@SH998 you said the embryo expanded 100%, so what if it implanted early....2 days after 5 day embryo is a guideline. As you say maybe it is the eostrogen and progesterone. The eostrogen I found definitely had a bad affect on me. Hormones can really affect you.

OP posts:
SH998 · 30/11/2022 13:14

@Hyppyb i don’t think it will be implantation as I started yesterday just 1 day after transfer. I’ve googled it (as google is the answer to everything lol) and it does say this could be linked to the estrogen and progesterone but nothing really firm. This has completely thrown me as nothing like last time when it was actually successful. The next few days are going to be so long now worrying about this. The whole process is a never ending worry :( x

Hyppyb · 30/11/2022 13:05

@SH998 in September I had a frozen transfer, on eostrogen and vaginal pessaries, there was no spotting or discharge. That failed. This time was a fresh transfer so I guess I have enough eostrogen in me from all the eggs, so I'm just on vaginal pessaries again no spotting. I can't tell about discharge because the pessaries leak out.

What I did experience this time was cramping from day 2 to day 4. Implantation cramping. I read implanting could produce light bleeding, maybe that's what you're experiencing. Maybe your body is reacting different to last time. I had no symptoms my failed FET but my successful one I was i
cramping in pain. Hopefully it's a sign the
embryo is implanting.

OP posts:
SH998 · 30/11/2022 12:42

@Hyppyb it can’t be a bad thing having lots of symptoms, makes it seem real doesn’t it :)
Did you have any light pink spotting/discharge/vaginal odour after the transfer? No 2 days past and experiencing all these, I didn’t have these before on the positive test so I’m starting to panic. This time is completely different to last time but not sure if that’s due to increased progesterone as taking more this time and also estrogen? X
