Preparing to TTC in 2023

Hi,

I'm part of a lovely thread which was started in 2021 for those planning to start TTC in 2022 and it was such a supportive group! we've now seen lots of positives and given each other a lot of support and tips through ups and downs.

I'm now 'pausing' TTC until after my wedding in 2023 and thought it'd be nice to start up a similar thread to see if there is anyone else now prepping and getting excited for next year!

On the last thread everyone introduced themself by saying their age, what they're trying for and when they plan on starting - I'll then keep a list up to date and post so everyone can easily see others who are at the same stage as them!

I'll go first:

Age: 27
TTC no: 1
Starting: Sep 23

Between now and then I'm going to be taking folic acid, try and loose some lbs to get closer to a healthy BMI, save some money in a baby pot and enjoy some 'baby free' activities (i.e., wine, gin, sushi and surfing!). I have endometriosis and PCOS so going to try and get my periods more regular and pain management via diet.

Evening ladies, I have just finished my AF and this will be my first month ttc. No matter how much I tell myself don’t let it take over everything like I normally do I know it will. I’ve brought some of the boots own ovulation tests would you have a month of trying normal or would you start them

madeofcodes · 21/01/2023 15:38

I had a 27 day cycle this month. A light AF that was only 3 days. I did an OPK yesterday and there was a faint line, same this morning.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 21/01/2023 13:33

How long are your cycles codes? I know from TTC before that I can ovulate as early as CD11 so would start around CD7-8

LeopardLover · 21/01/2023 13:17

@twinklebutt Congratulations! Hope things settle down a bit emotionally for you.

@madeofcodes I probably wouldn't start using OPKs until CD10 but that's me! Reducing caffeine is a good one. Running and yoga will be fine. 😊

I'm a bit behind with the chat but I've decided to hold off trying until May! To avoid a Christmas baby 😅 I've ordered CoQ10 too (low dosage) because I'm over 35 and can't see it doing any harm!

madeofcodes · 20/01/2023 22:34

I haven’t posted for a while as the last month has gone so slowly! Had AF and now on CD5. Do you girls recommend using OPKs from now so you reckon? Also any other tips? Cut out drinking entirely… I also read somewhere about taking it easy in the TWW because of implantation. I like to run and often go to yoga. I’m assuming those things are still ok?

madeofcodes · 20/01/2023 22:31

Congratulations!

Mushroo · 20/01/2023 21:06

@twinklebutt yay!! Congratulations! I love seeing all the BFPs on here!

have you had any symptoms?

Felt a little sickness mid morning this week and not fancied any breakfast.

Had a pretty rough week though emotionally with other issues so I've not really thought anything. Decided to test this morn and positive x

happyfeet5 · 20/01/2023 21:25

Congrats @twinklebutt what good news!

Thank you @Mushroo and @Hopingforno2in2023. had some weird cramps today, four days till I’m due on my period so guess it’s just my body prepping for that.

@Hopefulhoney6 combined, but I ovulated immediately during my last break so usually my cycles return pretty fast. How odd that it takes so long for some people though?

Hopingforno2in2023 · 20/01/2023 21:18

Congrats twinkle!

Mushroo · 20/01/2023 21:06

@twinklebutt yay!! Congratulations! I love seeing all the BFPs on here!

have you had any symptoms?

twinklebutt · 20/01/2023 21:05

Hey.....
BFP this morning 😊

Hopingforno2in2023 · 19/01/2023 18:21

So we have decided to go for sperm retrieval and ICSI! Hopefully start April/May time. @DanisEndo could you please move me to April on the list for now?

Hopefulhoney6 · 19/01/2023 18:00

@TrudyProud haha, maybe I should stay still for a while then. Can’t remember if I did or didn’t when I had my MC.

@happyfeet5 which pill were you on? Combined or mini pill? I was on combined and it took me 10 months to ovulate and get a period after coming off. Your 28 day cycles on the pill are usually just forced by the pill. However, before my cycle returned I did get sporadic EWCM with no temp rise to signify ovulation, which I have read is a sign of your body trying and failing to ovulate. Or like others say it could be a sign of AF. But it may take a while for your periods to regulate after the pill!

Mushroo · 19/01/2023 16:26

@happyfeet5 i also get loads of EWCM just before AF arrives - so it definitely could be that!

I’ve honestly never paid so much attention to mucus 😂

TrudyProud · 19/01/2023 16:21

@Hopefulhoney6 I definitely wondered this so when TTC DD1 I did the whole stay still for 10mins after sex ... who knows if it helped but we got our BFP cycle #1!
I'll probably do the same when TTC DC2 but realistically plenty of people get pregnant from a standing shag in an alleyway 🤣. As the saying goes "you only need one (sperm of the millions that are released during ejaculation)" .

Hopingforno2in2023 · 19/01/2023 16:20

I get EWCM when my period is about to arrive happy so it may be that.

happyfeet5 · 19/01/2023 15:54

Hi all

What’s your thoughts? So we’re not starting TTC until spring at the soonest. Now would not be a disaster but is not what we’re planning for.

I came off the pill on Christmas Day, began withdrawal bleed on Dec 27th. When I have had a break from the pill before my cycles have been consistently 28 days, so I have assumed this would be the same this time. We have been using condoms though we didn’t on CD8 as this was just before my projected fertile window. Had EWCM CD15-17 and then no more on CD18. On CD15 I also had light spotting which I presumed was a sign of ovulation? DTD again CD22 and 23.
Today I have EWCM again, and lots of it? Completely unexpected as wouldn’t have DTD last night had I known, I thought I was way past the window. Could I be ovulating again?

Can you ovulate twice in a month? Does anyone have any ideas?

Hopefulhoney6 · 19/01/2023 12:01

Maybe TMI but does anyone wonder how any of the sperm get up there at all when so much comes out afterwards?!?!

LightHousePanda · 19/01/2023 10:12

@happyfeet5 I was the same when TTC #1 I couldn't resist buying a few things

CRbear · 19/01/2023 08:28

My temp nose dived this morning so cycle 1 TTC is a bust! Would have been too good to be true with PCOS etc. anyway. I’m half disappointed and half just excited to go again.

WanOvaryKenobi · 18/01/2023 14:23

Congratulations on the pregnancies everyone!

I just had my second period since August, first one without being induced by progesterone pills. So that's encouraging. Still anovulatory cycles, still dealing with PCOS symptoms. Still going to the gym three times a week, eating healthily, and keeping my BMI at an ideal level. Still got a spare bedroom empty in the flat we bought.

LovelyBitOfSquirrelll · 18/01/2023 12:42

Hi ladies, loved reading your updates!

I took my last pill on Friday, having my withdrawal AF now. Hopefully my cycles will be how they used to be after this, but we will see! Using other contraceptive methods until April when we TTC. Looking forward to tracking and preparing! It definitely feels more real now my pill has finished! Just good to get it out there and tell someone 😂

Summer022 · 18/01/2023 12:12

@happyfeet5 I love that, so sweet. I have done a similar thing and purchased just one little newborn baby grow. I am hoping to use it to surprise my partner with when I get a BFP. Due to ovulate in around a week and feeling positive - buying one little thing to mark the journey has made me so excited. I must resist buying anything else now though 🤣

CRbear · 18/01/2023 06:11

@Mummymidwife33 - that’s great news! How exciting you could start so soon! I assumed it would take longer to start “working” again’

@happyfeet5 I think that’s lovely. I also bought a soft toy on a recent holiday (as technically could have conceived on it). For all the reasons you state I think it’s nice and if it starts to torture me at any point I’ll give it away.

@Hopingforno2in2023 glad call went well! We had a similar call about a year ago and found it real h helpful too. Nice your DH is open minded!

I am now 13DPO. Not liking my chances! I’ve been having all my normal AF symptoms- cramping and emotional yesterday. My temperature hasn’t been very stable either but tomorrow morning will tell the real tale if it dives.

Mummymidwife33 · 17/01/2023 22:20

@Hopingforno2in2023 that sounds interesting and helpful!
