Preparing to TTC in 2023

Hi,

I'm part of a lovely thread which was started in 2021 for those planning to start TTC in 2022 and it was such a supportive group! we've now seen lots of positives and given each other a lot of support and tips through ups and downs.

I'm now 'pausing' TTC until after my wedding in 2023 and thought it'd be nice to start up a similar thread to see if there is anyone else now prepping and getting excited for next year!

On the last thread everyone introduced themself by saying their age, what they're trying for and when they plan on starting - I'll then keep a list up to date and post so everyone can easily see others who are at the same stage as them!

I'll go first:

Age: 27
TTC no: 1
Starting: Sep 23

Between now and then I'm going to be taking folic acid, try and loose some lbs to get closer to a healthy BMI, save some money in a baby pot and enjoy some 'baby free' activities (i.e., wine, gin, sushi and surfing!). I have endometriosis and PCOS so going to try and get my periods more regular and pain management via diet.

@Noodles4Me I feel a bit like you. I’m going to be 38 in April and I have 2 boys. It took 5 months with the first and 1 month with 2nd but I have a feeling the 3rd is going to challenge me and I’m only on the first month of trying. My youngest has just turned 2

Hopefulhoney6 · 25/01/2023 15:18

@happyfeet5 bodies are so weird!! But I would say don’t read too much into it and worry right now, if you don’t get AF in a month or two could speak to the doc (or maybe you will get a BFP!!). Hard to know what is happening!! Good luck

MummyBear2519 · 25/01/2023 14:52

Thank you. I will most likely be under a consultant due to previous pregnancies but I’m still so excited at the prospect of hopefully having another baby by the end of the year. I came off the pill in august but didn’t track anything until this month. Sorry I don’t know all the abbreviations everyone is using but trying to pick them up

happyfeet5 · 25/01/2023 13:53

hey @Hopefulhoney6 yes, bodies are so strange aren’t they

I was like clockwork when I took a break from the pill for 4/5 cycles, about a year ago. all cycles were 28 days and I definitely ovulated them so not sure why it’s different now

Hopefulhoney6 · 25/01/2023 13:48

@happyfeet5 Ive replied to others about this on here (but I don’t think you?!).

When you say you were like clockwork - was that on the pill? Because if it’s the combined pill then that would have just been the pill setting your cycles rather than your hormones.

have you had an AF since coming off the pill?

It took me 10 months to ovulate when I came off (exceptionally long!!), but I was getting patches of EWCM on and off before that (signs of my body trying to ovulate) but I knew I had eventually ovulated by BBT!

You can’t ovulate twice in a cycle, so it sounds like your body is just getting used to being off the pill? You may have ovulated first or second time, or not at all yet

happyfeet5 · 25/01/2023 12:02

I should add this is CD30. ^
Not sure how many days between ovulation and period for most people either. Seen mixed things online.

happyfeet5 · 25/01/2023 12:02

AF is one (possibly two) days late.
BFNs. No PMS symptoms which I usually always get.
I think I ovulated CD15-CD16 as that was in keeping with my CM and I had spotting. But I also had another wave of EWCM on CD24-25?
Can you ovulate twice? Confused. I have just come off the pill but I am usually like clockwork.

Welcome Noodles!

I have had the bloods to check my thyroid today , feel as though everything is coming together now. So impatient though.

Noodles4Me · 25/01/2023 10:06

Hi all. Can an old bird join? 41 and came off implant yesterday to at least attempt #2. Got pregnant easily at age 39 with first but I know that doesn’t mean anything. Waiting now to see what my cycle is.

Good luck everyone 👍

Summer022 · 25/01/2023 09:52

@Hopefulhoney6 definitely and seeing as the swimmers can live inside us for up to 5 days, every other day would mean we are always covered which is good. I think we’ll be doing every other day from now on too. Every day was absolutely exhausting!

@Lindsey02 I am CD13 too. 3rd day of flashing smiley for me

Lindsey02 · 25/01/2023 08:04

Day 2 of flashing smiley for me today CD13 anyone else the same?

Hopefulhoney6 · 25/01/2023 08:02

@Summer022 every other day is only marginally less effective than every day so that’s what we do!! Every day is too much for us!!
This month we did every other day and then two days in a row on peak and day after peak.
In Impatient Women’s Guide to Getting Pregnant she says doing it last day of High and day of Peak is optimum, but you never exactly know when that would be.
I use BBT and ovulated day after Peak this month xx

DollyGx · 24/01/2023 22:39

@MummyBear2519 welcome! I just joined yesterday :) fingers crossed for your BFP next month, my AF is due next week, don’t think this is going to be my month but you never know! Great to hear you’re in a better relationship, exciting times for you! 🥰

MummyBear2519 · 24/01/2023 19:55

Hello can I join please.
Backstory - ttc number 3 but 1st with new partner.
AF is due 6th feb so been very active during ovulation window according to app. Had some good signs of ovulation so keeping everything crossed.
First pregnancy I will hopefully enjoy and have a supportive partner after previously abusive relationship.
Not told anyone we are trying so would love people to speak to.

Summer022 · 24/01/2023 19:26

@Lindsey02 I normally calculate ovulation day from the day after I get a peak ovulation test. I haven’t yet done this with clearblue but last month I did it with the premom cheap strip tests. I had a peak test one evening and it predicted my ovulation for the next day. I think you can never be 100% sure unless you are taking your temperature each day which would confirm if you ovulated

Lindsey02 · 24/01/2023 18:37

@Summer022 I got my first flashing smiley today, I try to dtd every other day.

when we say dpo when do you calculate it from if you don’t know exact ovulation date?

Summer022 · 24/01/2023 16:41

Hi ladies, just wondered if anybody has any advice. I am on day 2 of flashing smiley on my clearblue opk and unsure if I need to be dtd every day during the flashing smileys or every other day. I want to make sure I have covered all bases but don’t want to exhaust myself and my partner. Trying to be more relaxed this cycle hoping that may help

Hopingforno2in2023 · 24/01/2023 15:36

All went well thanks Tunnocks :) they said results can take up to 4 days.

TunnocksTCake · 24/01/2023 15:28

@Hopingforno2in2023 hope your test went ok today, do you know how long you need to wait?

Who else is waiting for af? I am 10dpo and going crazy, I hate this bit so much. Not long now, though I am supposed to go to a spa on friday so might have to test beforehand...

DollyGx · 24/01/2023 13:54

@Hopefulhoney6 thank you! so sorry to hear you went through that as well, it’s tough isn’t it. I didn’t even know such a thing as a MMC existed! Oh I’ll have everything crossed for you for Monday! 🤞🏼☺️ I’m on CD26, my flo app says AF due Monday, I’m going to attempt not to test this month, was so sure I was preggers last cycle and it’s a real blow when you get that BFN again so I told myself I’d resist the urge this month, but ask me again next week I might have changed my mind 😅😅

ZoomiesCat · 24/01/2023 11:16

Hi ☺️

Would I be able to join? We aren't TTC quite yet, the plan is to start around July time for our second little one.

Before dd we did sadly experience a miscarriage so am anxious about this happening again.

I haven't had my periods return yet since having dd (14 months old) as breastfed and she is still such a milk monster, although in the last week I can see she has started not wanting it as much and eating more food, plus started nursery a few weeks ago for a few days so things might return as having longer gaps between feeds. In the meantime I'm trying all I can to support them returning so I can get an idea of my cycle before the summer 🤞

Hopefulhoney6 · 24/01/2023 10:36

Welcome @DollyGx - I had a MMC in December so understand ❤️ I took a (relatively) relaxed approach throughout - BBT and cervical mucus and am just on first month trying again so used OPKs just to check I ovulated after MMC. Also in the TWW. Should know either way on Monday :) I’m also 6 years older than you so most of my friends are having second babies haha.

@Lindsey02 I got 5 days of High (flashing), then my Peak on day 17 and according to BBT I ovulated day 18.

PeopleAreToads · 24/01/2023 08:38

@Lindsey02 I usually get between 2 and 4 days of flashing before a static

Hopingforno2in2023 · 24/01/2023 08:27

Welcome to all the new faces and good luck! :)

I am off for my AMH test today. Once I have the results of that I should be able to get accurate quotes for how much ICSI will cost.

Lindsey02 · 24/01/2023 07:43

Morning ladies cd12 and got my first flashing smiley today. How long is it till you should expect static?
