Preparing to TTC in 2023

Hi,

I'm part of a lovely thread which was started in 2021 for those planning to start TTC in 2022 and it was such a supportive group! we've now seen lots of positives and given each other a lot of support and tips through ups and downs.

I'm now 'pausing' TTC until after my wedding in 2023 and thought it'd be nice to start up a similar thread to see if there is anyone else now prepping and getting excited for next year!

On the last thread everyone introduced themself by saying their age, what they're trying for and when they plan on starting - I'll then keep a list up to date and post so everyone can easily see others who are at the same stage as them!

I'll go first:

Age: 27
TTC no: 1
Starting: Sep 23

Between now and then I'm going to be taking folic acid, try and loose some lbs to get closer to a healthy BMI, save some money in a baby pot and enjoy some 'baby free' activities (i.e., wine, gin, sushi and surfing!). I have endometriosis and PCOS so going to try and get my periods more regular and pain management via diet.

Girls I think my AF is coming 😭 so so moody last 2 days and had some pinkish can’t even say blood just smears on toilet paper this morn. Checked my cervix and browny/pinky tinge through discharge. I’m gutted. Got the mirena coil out thinking I’d go back to normal cycles pretty quick as there’s very little hormones and my cycles are so short now like 24 days, today is only day 23 and it’s starting alteady, they’re not like my normal 29/30 I had before the coil x

Chooba · 05/01/2023 09:53

We've been together for 3.5 years.

I kept telling myself I'd try and be relaxed about TTC but I'm so not! Ordered a thermometer yesterday for BBT monitoring. Part of my problem is that I had a mirena coil for ages so I have no idea about what my cycle really is, and I'm feeling the pressure of being 36 and wondering if I've left it too late (although it wasn't really much of an option before!!).

I've been with my partner for almost 2 years, we've been engaged for 6 months and getting married in July. Feels like we've been together forever though, doesn't feel quick. I think its odd when people put arbitrary numbers/barriers in place for big life changes. Each individual and situation is unique!

LeopardLover · 05/01/2023 09:02

@123ROLO Oh I love cassava haha! No harm in eating them if you like the foods anyway I guess 🤣

LeopardLover · 05/01/2023 08:59

@happyfeet5 Together for 18 years and married for over 5. Time definitely flies! 😅

Mumof1hopingfor2nd · 05/01/2023 00:31

@happyfeet5 been together 4 years and getting Married in June this year 😁🥰
I was with my 3 years when I fell pregnant unexpectedly he left me and never bothered with his son he is 11 now and despite 'dad' being given lots of chances he's never made an effort my fiance has raised him the last 4 years and done a wonderful job ❤️ my son has additional needs so it's not easy but we're a pretty awesome team 💙

LisaJor22 · 04/01/2023 22:50

I have a 6 year old was in a relationship for 10 years and didn’t work out. Met my partner beginning of feb 2022 and removed coil November 2022 to ttc, when you know you know as they say 😊x

123ROLO · 04/01/2023 22:44

Been with OH 9 years, 10 years in Sept which is roughly when we are planning ttc.

Saw a comment before about Yams and twins, sent me down a googling rabbit hole 😂 apparently there's other herbs/supplements you can take to increase your chances of twins, such as Soy isoflavones and Cassava. Apparently they increase your chances of releasing 2 eggs rather than 1.

I would actually quite like twins, I said before I want a really small age gap so that solves that issue 😆. I'm not genuinely going to try as i reckon its probably pointless, I was just intrigued.

Hopefulhoney6 · 04/01/2023 21:59

Can’t keep up with all of the posting on here… but another great book is “The Impatient Womens Guide to Getting Pregnant”. For those those liked It Starts With The Egg.

been together 11 years, married for 4 and TTC #1….

LovelyBitOfSquirrelll · 04/01/2023 21:59

@happyfeet5 i have said earlier in the thread, but so much has happened on here since then! I have been with my DH 11 years, married for three, but…… conceived our DD after only 3 months of knowing each other. Madness. But we both wanted a child together and knew it was right for us! We laugh now at how laid back (slightly crazy) we were, much more risk averse now! But, it did bring us closer together from the start.

Mummymidwife33 · 04/01/2023 21:55

@happyfeet5 awww thank you. I'm in management now so have a better work/life balance but still do some clinical shifts to get my baby fix! I trained after I had my daughter and then had my son once qualified. Will be strange doing it all again with more knowledge and experience and also a bit scary!

Mushroo · 04/01/2023 21:53

@happyfeet5 weve been together 10 years and married for 3.

It still feels a bit quick! But that is just because we were in the ‘no’ camp for so long it’s only the last year or so we’ve settled on trying.

Im envious of anyone together for less time who just knows what they want!

Smiffette · 04/01/2023 21:47

New one here, hope it's ok to join.

We are TTC no2, have a DD 2.5 yo we did start trying in October 2022 nothing happened yet.

Vitamins wise, I'm taking pregnacare conception one....

I was 35 when I conceived DD 36 when I had her. I had a MMC the year before her and that pregnancy took 4 months to conceive, the. First month trying to conceive DD. I'm 39 now and had hoped to conceive as quickly as DD but I guess realistically being that bit older it will take longer.

BatildaB · 04/01/2023 21:47

@happyfeet5 We've known each other 8 years, and were casually involved on and off from the start of that. It became a proper serious relationship 4 years ago.

happyfeet5 · 04/01/2023 21:46

@Notyetamother you are a good motivational speaker! 😂 Feel like the journey towards motherhood/parenthood always encounters judgement, whatever you do! Best get used to it now lol

Notyetamother · 04/01/2023 21:43

That's not to say I don't adore my fiancé because obviously I do as I'm marrying him. But I'm just saying life changes, people are human. Do your best, F the rest! Motivational speaker this evening apparently 😂

Notyetamother · 04/01/2023 21:42

@happyfeet5 yeah and no one ever fully knows, we're all just humans making it up as we go along! 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

mrsed1987 · 04/01/2023 21:40

Together 10 years, married nearly 5 years, have a nearly 4 year old

happyfeet5 · 04/01/2023 21:39

@Notyetamother agree 100%! People assume too often if their situation hasn’t planned out that it won’t for others, and look for a reason to blame it on. I thought I’d ask the question as I was sure there’d be lots of people who had been together less time. When you know you know so they say!

happyfeet5 · 04/01/2023 21:37

@Mummymidwife33 wow, I admire you, you must be so busy! It seems such a rewarding job and doesn’t get nearly enough credit I don’t think. Were you a midwife before having DC or did you train after having them?

Mummymidwife33 · 04/01/2023 21:37

We've been together just over 3 years, married 6 months.

Notyetamother · 04/01/2023 21:35

@happyfeet5 I think that's a ridiculous opinion tbh. Anyway continuously getting to know your partner is part of what keeps a relationship alive?! Do we ever TRULY know anyone? Can only pick someone we feel have similar outlooks to ourselves, put in the work and hope for the best ❤️ sounds like whoever said that might have been stung in the past!

happyfeet5 · 04/01/2023 21:34

@TrudyProud that’s so lovely! I bet it was so fun after the excitement of the wedding having the countdown to your lovely DD being born!

Mummymidwife33 · 04/01/2023 21:33

happyfeet5 · 04/01/2023 21:20

@Mummymidwife33 would I be right in guessing you are a midwife? 😆

Haha yes! And a mum 😂

TrudyProud · 04/01/2023 21:31

@happyfeet5 together for 4 years - engaged, married 18months, 8 month old daughter
