Preparing to TTC in 2023

Hi,

I'm part of a lovely thread which was started in 2021 for those planning to start TTC in 2022 and it was such a supportive group! we've now seen lots of positives and given each other a lot of support and tips through ups and downs.

I'm now 'pausing' TTC until after my wedding in 2023 and thought it'd be nice to start up a similar thread to see if there is anyone else now prepping and getting excited for next year!

On the last thread everyone introduced themself by saying their age, what they're trying for and when they plan on starting - I'll then keep a list up to date and post so everyone can easily see others who are at the same stage as them!

I'll go first:

Age: 27
TTC no: 1
Starting: Sep 23

Between now and then I'm going to be taking folic acid, try and loose some lbs to get closer to a healthy BMI, save some money in a baby pot and enjoy some 'baby free' activities (i.e., wine, gin, sushi and surfing!). I have endometriosis and PCOS so going to try and get my periods more regular and pain management via diet.

@Notyetamother I just realised this is the original thread, there's a thread 2! Join us over there if you'd like 😊❤️x

Notyetamother · 28/04/2023 22:50

@LeopardLover thank you so much for your reply, I know this thread isn't as active as it has been. That's how I'm seeing it too, let's hope it all goes well ❤️

LeopardLover · 28/04/2023 10:44

Oh @Notyetamother Congratulations on your BFP! I'm so so sorry to hear about your mum, what an absolute shock that must've been, but really pleased there is a shining light in the darkness! This little one will be so loved ❤️x

Notyetamother · 28/04/2023 07:00

Hi guys! I was actively on this thread few months ago, but testing negative every month was effecting my mental health, so I decided to come off of mums net, stop monitoring DTD and just try and let things happen without obsessing!
I just need to share my story with someone, just over a week ago, I lost my mum, totally unexpected and absolutely crushed by it. And 3 days ago I got my BFP!!!!!!!
The ironic thing is, we must have only tried once or twice and conceived, and months before then we were DTD every day if possible. Life really is crazy, and I believe this is the universe balancing out. Just wanted to share this as I know a little hope helps, and also I just can't believe how much my life has changed in the space of a week and a half. So extremely happy to be pregnant, but also so extremely sad at the same time. Bitter sweet.
Hope everyone on here is doing well and getting their BFPs too xx

Tophy124 · 13/02/2023 22:48

@Lindsey02 did you test again?? This sounds promising!! When pregnant with my one and only, I didn’t test positive until a few days past my missed period!! Xx

Lindsey02 · 13/02/2023 08:52

Morning ladies,

period was due sat/Sunday and I’ve just had 2 incidences of spotting when I wipe each day and nothing else. No cramps etc but also no pregnancy symptoms. Also no sign of period yet today.

I last tested Saturday morning with a cheap boots hcg strip which was negative. Not really sure what’s happening

CinderRosie · 13/02/2023 07:41

I’ve been using the cheap OPKs just to try and track my cycle, last week I had an almost positive line every morning and evening for five days straight! Loads of EWCM too but no definite positive OPK. I’ve used the Clearblue OPKs before and have got a smiley face on the CB and an almost positive line on the cheapie using the same pee sample so I don’t think those cheapies work well for detecting my surge. Not even officially TTC until either April or May Blush

Babydustthisyear · 13/02/2023 05:28

@Tophy124 thanks for your advice, really helps to have people to talk to, no1 officially knows we are ttc x

Tophy124 · 12/02/2023 18:14

@Babydustthisyear I do, as for me I get two days of a clear smile face and I’m like oh ok!! But with the LH strips I was doing before it could never seem to exactly pinpoint the surge and I felt like it only told me after the surge happened! I have many friends who have got pregnant using the clear blue kits and so I plan on sticking with them. I do fine their pregnancy tests with blue dye awful tho!! I’ve had a false positive on them before xx

Babydustthisyear · 12/02/2023 17:59

@Tophy124 aww sorry to hear this 💐💐 I never realised how common this was. Im hoping it happens for us all very soon 💐 x

Yes I'm using the clear blue ovulation tests and it seems I will ovulate same time this month on CD15 as I'm on 13 now and haven't had a positive ovulation test but I have had EWCM a lot in my fertile window this month and when I look back I didn't have any last month or at least I didn't notice. I'm so much calmer this month. Do you think clear blue ones are the best?

Tophy124 · 12/02/2023 17:54

@Babydustthisyear I think I’m having a chemical now. I tested positive and am now testing negative.

your cycle can fluctuate and remember if your cycle was 2 days late you probably ovulated 2 days late, so it is ovulation that moves rather than your period (hope that makes sense). Are you using ovulation tests? I find clear blue the most helpful to start as less interpretation is needed!

CinderRosie · 05/02/2023 14:43

@DollyGx thanks for the heads up on the new thread will head over to that one now!

Hi everyone, congratulations to all the positives and good luck on those trying.

i was in A&E last night 7+4 with a big bright red bleed. No clots or tissue and bleeding has completely stopped now. they referred me to EPAS who can’t see me until Wednesday! We have booked an early scan today at 3.30 but we are fearing the worst :( xx

DollyGx · 05/02/2023 11:57

Hi ladies, there is a new thread now that the OP very kindly set up as this one is almost full now -www.mumsnet.com/talk/conception/4732428-preparing-and-ttc-in-2023-thread-2?reply=123529263

Popsicales · 05/02/2023 10:40

Hi, hope I’m ok jumping on this thread!

I’m TTC No. 3 (first two are 4 and 5 and were conceived quite easily despite PCOS and irregular periods). I removed my coil on 29th Jan and happened to ovulate on 30th. Don’t think there’s any chance of me conceiving this month however, as I’ve had a withdrawal bleed for the last 5 days so don’t think there’s chance of anything sticking!

Waiting for a normal cycle 🤞

CinderRosie · 05/02/2023 09:10

@WolfMother326 I am also waiting. We contemplated trying this month but don’t feel 100% ready to go for it.

It’s CD15 for me today and Flo says I’m ovulating but haven’t had a positive OPK on the strips. I find them a bit temperamental tbh!

WolfMother326 · 05/02/2023 09:07

@LightHousePanda good luck! I just noticed we might be using the old thread, I think this one is full.
