@MillieKitty i don't know how you avoid the temptation of private scans! I'm about to have my 6th NHS scan for this pregnancy and I just love knowing how much they've grown and seeing them wiggle about

MillieKitty · 17/02/2023 17:23

@PPop not had any movements yet! They say for your first baby you probably won't feel them until after 20 weeks, I'm full of cold but apart from that I am fine, sorry to hear your sister is still closing herself off, time is the biggest healer and I'm sure she will be in touch soon

@Mortima not had any private scans since my 8 week one, it's been so tempting though, glad you're feeling better now!

ScaredSally · 17/02/2023 15:15

@MillieKitty it went well thank goodness! We have another scan next week with fetal medicine (our last sons consultant) and hopefully if that goes well we'll be discharged from there and won't need to be seen again till growth scans start at 32 weeks... it still all feels very surreal and I don't yet believe we'll get to bring this little one home but hoping the excitement increases soon and my anxieties lessen

Mortima · 17/02/2023 13:57

@MillieKitty Oh my gosh, time flies! Hope all goes well with the 20 weeks scan - have you had any private scans since the 12 week one? I'm not planning to but it seems a long time to wait!

@PPop So sorry your sister is still not talking to you, that must be very hurtful. Just remember that you haven't done anything wrong Flowers

I noticed a shift in the sickness from around 10 weeks, and now that I've just passed into the second trimester (13 + 5 today) I feel so much better - minimal nausea this week and no vomiting at all so far. I just need to start weaning myself off all the sugary shit and back onto a healthyish diet now!

PPop · 17/02/2023 13:38

@MillieKitty wow!! Halfway already! How exciting! I hope it all goes well on Monday how are you feeling?

My sister has sadly not been in touch with me though is speaking to my parents, I'm carrying around a fair amount of hurt but it cannot be changed, she has some mental health issues it seems.

I'm 10 weeks on Monday and I have had a bad few weeks for sickness I got some anti nausea tablets at long last so hoping that gets it under control! Trying to have small meals often... hopefully it will pass in a few weeks! 😂 I haven't been hospitalised with it but I'm regularly being sick now!

How is the longed for second trimester? Less symptoms? Are you having movements as well now?

MillieKitty · 17/02/2023 12:14

It's been a while since I checked in!

How is everyone? It is my 20 week scan next Friday!

@Wrenegade and @Mortima how is your nausea?

@PPop how you feeling now? Is your sister in contact yet?

@ScaredSally how was your 20 week scan?

Wrenegade · 10/02/2023 10:10

@PPop I’m so sorry to hear that your sister has taken the news badly, please know that this isn’t your fault and as much as you want to protect her, they’re her feelings to manage. It must feel deflating to have someone you love react in this way. I hope that the time she is taking to process leads to her reflecting and being able to share in your joy and excitement soon. I’m glad to hear your parents are supportive.

@ScaredSally that’s wonderful news, must feel like such a weight has lifted. How are you feeling about it all after the positive news?

@Mortima really glad your vomiting and nausea is settling down and that you find as much time as possible to rest!

ScaredSally · 09/02/2023 19:38

@PPop @Mortima ita gone so quick! We only got the all clear that this little guy doesn't have the same fatal abnormalities that our son had so I've kinda just ignored it till now not knowing if we'd bring him home or not... but I've had no symptoms at all this time so it's been pretty easy to ignore haha

PPop · 09/02/2023 19:25

@Mortima I did it via a message (this is pretty much our main form of communication so not unusual) I think she's had a bit of a breakdown but I do feel it as a bit of a dampener if I am honest. A bit like my news is tarnished now. My parents have been great, though my mum flip flops between sympathy for my sister and annoyance at her reaction... I get it's tough for her! My dad is a bit more straight down the line he's a breed of get on with it.
I am trying now to dwell but feeling like a poorly little smidge and all emotional with surging hormones and awfully painful breasts (and my lord the nipple sensitivity) I am being all maudlin about it.
I am glad it was still as exciting! Not long till mine I cannot wait!

@ScaredSally oh that is exciting! I have everything crossed! How do you feel?

Mortima · 09/02/2023 18:54

@PPop Of course you didn't do this to hurt her lovely, and I would hope she doesn't want you to experience a loss as she has. I'm sure you told her as sensitively as possible. Have your parents been supportive?
I think the 12-week scan was no less special having already had the private scan earlier, as it looks much more like a baby at this stage and moving around more, it's still lovely and fascinating to see.
My sickness has been slowly subsiding - vomiting much less, nausea not as constant as it was. I find that lying down helps me (although clearly not possible all the time!)

@ScaredSally The best of luck for your scan tomorrow! Halfway through, has it gone quickly?

ScaredSally · 09/02/2023 17:56

I joined this thread right at the start and now can't believe I have my 20 week scan tomorrow morning! Keeping everything firmly crossed after my 32 week loss last year

PPop · 09/02/2023 14:40

Thank you @Mortima I am really struggling. It's been 4 days and she is ignoring our whole family. I am heart broken and feel she will only be happy if I also suffer a loss. I didn't do this to hurt her I've wanted a baby for years!

Ohh that is wonderful, how did you find having the scan as you'd had the early reassurance? Was it still emotional?
Have you found the sickness is subsiding?

I am fed up of the nausea, it's horrendous!! It is amazing how simple things like brushing my teeth are now incredibly difficult to do! I'm having another nauseous spell just now so feeling like a grumpy little bear! 😂

Mortima · 09/02/2023 13:11

@PPop Oh, I'm so sorry that your sister is struggling with the news. It must be a really strange position for you to be in - as awful as it must be for her, please remember that this isn't your fault, and you can't put your own life on hold indefinitely. Give her some time to process, that's all you can do at the moment Flowers
The sickness is really the pits isn't it - mine has been slowly improving since about 10 weeks, but I'm still not really feeling 'myself'. I have heard that higher nausea levels are a good sign, but it's hard to be too grateful for it! Have you tried any medication? If not, it's worth trying - it's not normal to be feeling constantly nauseous, and I think women put up with it for far longer than they should.

I had my 12-week scan this week, which puts me at 12 + 4 today - really relieved all seemed ok, and amazing how much it had changed since I had a reassurance scan at 9 + 4. It still doesn't seem quite 'real' though, I'm not sure it will until I get an actual bump (not just bloating/weight gain from constantly grazing on carbs to curtail the nausea 😅)

PPop · 09/02/2023 10:31

@Wrenegade gosht that's awful! I haven't been sick since last night but after I'm sick it takes me a couple days to eat much again, I find my appetite is really low at the moment!
It's so strange! I am only 8 weeks old but feel really different, my breasts are so painful! I cannot wear underwired bras at the moment, they pinch me underneath and when I took one off on Tuesday I screamed it was that painful I had to go in the shower to calm them!

I also told my sister, sadly she has shut down and hasn't spoken to myself or my parents. It's hurt me so much.

Wrenegade · 09/02/2023 09:47

@PPop Oh bless you, I can empathise entirely. I had really bad hyperemesis and was being sick up to 15 times a day, the nausea was none stop. I found eating small meals more often, lots of liquids and rest/naps helped to manage it. I was often told that it meant baby was doing well. I can now go 3/4 days without being sick but if I overwork myself or get too adventurous with food it can cause me to relapses so I’ve learnt to be much more cautious and slow down a lot.

PPop · 09/02/2023 09:31

@Wrenegade oh that is exciting! I haven't had further scans the midwife told me it would just absorb and there would be no bleeds etc, my symptoms are awful though! I've been sick I'm nearly constantly nauseous I hope this means that the pregnancy is healthy 😂

I have my 12 weeks booked for 13th March (though I'll be over that by then) and my consultant for 27th.

How are symptoms now?

Wrenegade · 09/02/2023 09:29

@PPop I’m so sorry I missed your update somehow. So pleased you saw the heart beat, have you had any further scans or update on the second sac? How far along are you now?

Im over 13 weeks now and definitely feeling much better than I was in the first trimester. The 12 week scan went well and now just waiting for the 20 week. I think I’m booked in for the 27th March. Trying to exercise and eat healthy again but it is a battle!

PPop · 09/02/2023 08:39

Hello! How is everyone?

PPop · 27/01/2023 11:12

I wanted twins so hope it was hiding a little bit @MillieKitty but delighted I have a baby and it's all in the right place! I barely slept last night for all the fears of what could go wrong! I just want it to be September now 😂

MillieKitty · 27/01/2023 10:57

Wow @PPop so happy you got to see a heartbeat ! How you feeling about the empty sac? That must have been a shock!

PPop · 27/01/2023 10:19

@Wrenegade had my scan about an hour ago! Saw its little beating heart! There was also another sac in there that looked empty... she said unlikely it will do anything now but it was a multiple pregnancy! Seems we must be fertile after all 😂

MillieKitty · 27/01/2023 09:26

@Wrenegade I felt so nervous telling my work even though I've been there over five years! It just felt weird and I felt bad telling them I'd be leaving for a good while!! It's part of life though so don't worry about how long you've been there, I'm sure they'll be happy for you

Wrenegade · 27/01/2023 09:06

@ScaredSally congratulations on your boy!

@Mortima I am pleased to read the spotting got better and the EPU doesn’t seem concerned. It is such an anxious time, how are you today?

@MillieKitty I can’t believe you’re so close to your 20 week scan and being half way through your pregnancy! You have me very much looking forward to the second trimester.

@PPop intreating to hear that they are discouraged. Did the doppler give the lady false reassurance? Do you have a scan today?

I have my blood test this afternoon, slightly late as I’m 11 +3 but feels like the ball is finally rolling! Has anyone told their work yet? I’m feeling a bit nervous about it as I’ve only been there 7 months.

PPop · 26/01/2023 18:11

@Mortima she scared me off them for sure!! Ohh 11 days that's not too long! I've got my early reassurance scan tomorrow and I'm feeling all sorts of stuff!

Mortima · 26/01/2023 16:31

Ah thanks @Ppop, it was a bit of an impulse buy but I've now looked into them a bit more and agree, it seems like they're more trouble than they're worth, so I've cancelled my order. Will just have to be patient and wait for the next scan I guess (only 11 days to go)
