Hey hey, making this thread to lead on from last months. I’m 1 or 2 dpo today and I’m going to try and not symptom spot this month!! Also going to try my best to not test until 12dpo at the earliest!

what DPO are you all?

@PPop Yep just like that - you can also do it anally or vaginally, but that's a bit much for me first thing in the morning 😂
You're meant to do it when you first wake up, before getting up/eating/drinking etc, and as consistent with the time as possible - my time does vary at the weekends though, and it doesn't seem to affect the trend much. If you have a particularly bad night's sleep, or are I'll (or have had a lot of booze) that can throw it off, so I wouldn't bother in any of those situations.

PPop · 23/11/2022 08:15

@Mortima I googled and you do BBT orally? It is just an under the tongue like checking for a fever? Sorry for the Qs as always, every day is a school day!

Mortima · 22/11/2022 21:02

@Wrenegade Looks very close to positive - keep testing though to see if it's your peak (a couple of months ago I had one that looked similar and thought that was peak, but then had an even darker test the following day). As you say, there's quite a big range of when ovulation could happen, so if in doubt keep DTD until your BBT goes up.

@PPop I've been tracking BBT for about 3 cycles now, and also put it into an app to interpret. I think it's useful to do it every day for at least a cycle or two to get an idea of what is normal for you, and then after that you could skip some days and just record BBT around the fertile window to confirm ovulation.
I think I'm going to stop tracking mine after ovulation; after that, it just gives me something else to obsess over during the TWW!

@Emmalou0607 How did you get on? It is a nightmare of a time of year to be avoiding alcohol, I know!

I'm CD12 here, ovulation tends to be around CD16 - 20 so getting impatient wondering when to start shagging 😅I don't want to wear DH out too early...

MillieKitty · 22/11/2022 14:08

@Wrenegade well if you remember mine was so quick I missed it!! Let me know how your test later goes, I am good thank you, six weeks tomorrow! But feeling very rough with no appetite!

Wrenegade · 22/11/2022 14:04

Thanks @MillieKitty that is reassuring. I am confused about how long after a positive test ovulation happens. I have read anything from 6-48 hours, but it is nice to know it hasn’t quite happened yet! How are you getting on?

@PPop I measure my BBT. I do use an app to help me interpret the data. My understanding is that there is usually a dip before ovulation and then BBT will continue to rise (some people experience a one day drop for implantation) it should remain consistently high otherwise. A drop indicates AF is on its way.

PPop · 22/11/2022 13:52

Thank you @Emmalou0607 how was your lunch at your parents?

Emmalou0607 · 22/11/2022 13:17

@PPop CD is cycle day started CD1 on the first day of your period.

I've done BBT for the past couple of months

PPop · 22/11/2022 12:32

I am still active but very useless! I think from what I've read that ovulation will darken to the same colour?

Can I ask what is CD?
Also can I please ask who measures their BBT? Or knows of a reliable place I can research this?

MillieKitty · 22/11/2022 11:45

@Wrenegade heyyyy I'd say ovulation is very close, it doesn't look like it will have happened just yet, I'd test later this afternoon or this evening, definitely time to DTD though :)

Wrenegade · 22/11/2022 11:25

Hi ladies, I don’t know how many of us are still active on this thread. I need a bit of help understanding LH tests. Today is CD13 and the last test on the attached photo was taken today at 11am. Is it positive and if so when might ovulation happen or has it already?

PPop · 20/11/2022 20:36

@Emmalou0607 oh it's a difficult one, I'd maybe pull her to the side say nothing happening yet but I am just abstaining during the TTC bit...?

Wrenegade · 20/11/2022 14:35

@Emmalou0607 sorry you’re feeling stressed about this. I can definitely relate. It is a tricky situation but it sounds like you have a respectful mum and you don’t need to worry about her saying anything that might make it awkward. If you’re close with her you just say ‘taking a break from drinking, I heard it can help when ttc’. I tend to opt for other approaches such as being the designated driver or being the one sorting the drinks out, that way no one knows your drink request. I always bring a fancy mixer and drink it from a glass and everyone assumes it has gin or something in it.

Emmalou0607 · 20/11/2022 10:29

I'm stressing out today, we're going to my parents for lunch which is ALWAYS a boozy affair (with no exceptions!) I haven't drunk anything for the last 2 months because I wanted to try and make sure it wasn't going to have any impact on trying.

I mentioned only briefly a few months ago to my mum that we were starting TTC and I'm seriously stressing today that if I'm not drinking she's going to jump to conclusions (she's not the try who would say anything until we told her but I also am over thinking her thinking we are pregnant when we aren't)

I don't really know what to do or say 😬

MillieKitty · 15/11/2022 10:41

@PPop yeah that sounds a bit late for ovulation! My app got it wrong quite a lot, it was three days out this month so I'm lucky I didn't rely on it! Just look out for that EWCM!

PPop · 15/11/2022 10:22

Weirdly my app has now moved my ovulation date from the expected around 26th November to around 11th December?! Is that usual? I was only one day later then the app predicted...

HJA87 · 15/11/2022 10:14

@Mortima sorry about your chemical 😔I hope you’re ok.

@MillieKitty and all the others who got BFPs, wishing you happy and healthy 9 months!

I’m 14 DPO and still BFNs so I’m definitely not pregnant but just wish AF would hurry up now so I can move onto the next cycle!

PPop · 15/11/2022 09:52

Thank you. I hope everyone has BFP before Christmas, then there will be lots of happy Christmas times for all!!

MillieKitty · 15/11/2022 09:51

Sorry to hear @PPop ! Sending you lots of luck for this cycle! Think of a BFP before Christmas 🎄

PPop · 15/11/2022 09:47

AF here today! Stupid me forgot to take anything to the office despite knowing I was due 🤦‍♀️ DH saved the day!

PPop · 14/11/2022 13:45

@Mortima I hear you! Wouldn't Christmas Sharing be lovely!

How are you doing?

Mortima · 14/11/2022 13:39

@PPop Also sending hugs - hope you get to move onto your next cycle soon. It is disappointing, we can't help but think about ideal timelines and dates, so when it doesn't work it's gutting when you feel like you've done everything 'right'.

I already know that I'm setting myself up for disappointment this cycle if it doesn't work, as I'd love to be be able to share some news with our nearest and dearest at Christmas; I'm sure I'm not the only one.

PPop · 14/11/2022 11:49

It's true! I do feel silly though! Poor DH I actually feel like I've been a bit of a nightmare all weekend 😂

Ah well! We all got this whatever the stage we are at!

Emmalou0607 · 14/11/2022 11:40

@PPop it's not silly at all. Sending hugs! I think we can all understand that feeling which makes it's good to have a group of people going through similar things to sound off to.

This was 'only' month 4 for me, 2 of which my DH and then myself had Covid over ovulation so more like 2 months but still feel really rotten and emotional over it.

PPop · 14/11/2022 11:33

Did another test just now and nope it is certainly negative. Completely white. Due on today but nothing moving in that direction. Just have to wait for AF to come and onto the next!

I have been terribly emotional all weekend I think DH has been terribly confused. I wanted to be pregnant before my bday so silly I know as there are people who have been trying so much longer then us!

Emmalou0607 · 13/11/2022 21:01

@Mortima fingers crossed for your next cycle, hope there is something in being more fertile after 🤞

@PPop longer it doesn't the more likely it's a good sign potentially!
