Ladies with short cycles, when did you get your bfp?

I have a 24/25 day cycle and this month I ovulated on CD 13 or 14 (static smiley on CBOPK on CD13). Am now on CD 23 and AF is due in 3 days. I’ve been getting BFNs for the last two days because I couldn’t hold out any longer, but was hoping to hear some success stories from others with short cycles getting similar results and going on to test positive. Just really hoping I’m not out this month :(

Hi I felt a need to update on my post and worries. Turns out I didn’t ovulate on day 6 as temps were wrong and it was actually day 14! That sets off a whole other set of worries as my cycle is only 19 days, but felt the need to share here for honesty xxx

Carlotta27 · 30/10/2022 15:23

Thanks @Rockygal - I know, it’s hard not to worry, especially when you’re a bit of a control freak and want certainty - it’s such an uncertain journey!

I’ve only just started TTC so shouldn’t be worrying, just already wondering how what such a short cycle will impact us and even considering seeing a fertility specialist for peace of mind! xxx

grey12 · 28/10/2022 20:40

I don't remember what day I tested. I think I was already late on my period a few days 🤷🏻‍♀️

But I do remember that we conceived on a month when I had to travel during my supposed ovulation window 😅 it didn't ever occur to me that because my natural cycle was 25 days, my ovulation with 28 day cycles (after the pill) would still be earlier than what the app predicted

Rockygal · 28/10/2022 20:30

@Carlotta27 thank you!! I completely get what you mean, it’s easy to get caught up in researching when ttc and worrying about everything on the internet says, especially as all the info online seemed to be swayed towards making it seem near impossible for short cycles to conceive easily! I have read a good number of success stories on netmums of BFPs with short follicular phases too, so hopefully that goes some way to giving you reassurance, although I’m similar to you I’m a big worrier!

how long have you been ttc?

OP posts:
Carlotta27 · 28/10/2022 20:27

FYI - I worry about that solely because I’m a worrier, not because it’s Drs words at all - just noting that so that people don’t take it as true or begin similar worries!

Carlotta27 · 28/10/2022 20:24

@Rockygal congratulations on your BFP and thank you for sharing the positive story!

its hard to know what’s normal as there’s so much misinformation and chat on the internet…

i had worried a short follicular phase May mean shorter time for the egg and lining to mature, but good to hear success stories for shorter cycles anyway! X

Rockygal · 28/10/2022 20:19

@Carlotta27 hi!! I think ovulating 6 days into your cycle is a good thing as that means your luteal phase is quite long and enough time for implantation! Also to put your mind at ease, I’m now about 11 dpo and getting strong BFP 😁

Hi all! Joining here as I’m TTC and feeling a bit worried - I’ve always had a 19/20 day cycle and think I ovulated (according to temping) around day 6 last cycle. Hoping this isn’t a hindrance so keen to join other ladies with short cycles xxx

Cuppasoupmonster · 26/10/2022 09:28

That is definitely a faint line! Here’s mine from the summer, now 16 weeks. Grab a frer but I would wait till tomorrow morning first wee if you can hang on!

@Rockygal I have a feeling FRER's are 20... so double the sensitivity!! :) defo have a try!! Exciting!

Rockygal · 26/10/2022 08:28

@H1994 they say 10 miU/ml but agree definitely good to double check with a well known brand! Thank you!! X

H1994 · 26/10/2022 08:24

@Rockygal I haven't used the ones you've got but they should say the sensitivity?... I think FRER's are the most sensitive! Fingers crossed for you!! 🥰

Rockygal · 26/10/2022 08:18

@allgoodthings84 thank you! I’ll nip out on my lunch so I have it ready for tomorrow trying to stay calm and not get too excited 😁

That’s a faint line! It has colour and thick. Tentative congratulations. Get a frer for the morning 😊

Rockygal · 26/10/2022 08:14

@H1994 no I used it when I was being crazy and resting too early lol! That definitely looks similar!! Do you think the FRER are better than the cheapie Wandfo early tests?

OP posts:
H1994 · 26/10/2022 08:07

I can definitely see something... mine looked like this to be honest! Have you got an FRER?

@Rockygal my cycles are usually 24-27 days and I ovulate cd12-CD15. Usually CD13/14. I start dtd every other day from cd8 until I get my positive opk then do it that day, ovulation day and sometimes the day after if we feel up to it. We don’t always do the day after. Then 2-3 days after ovulation just in case. My LP is 12 days.

H1994 · 25/10/2022 15:59

Yes! Pretty much, feel super super lucky - started trying late July and got my BFP on Aug 31st!... ahh perfect, I used the premom app and I can't remember what strip tests I used but yes! Best of luck!!

Rockygal · 25/10/2022 15:54

@H1994 that’s so true at least if I don’t catch this cycle it’s not long to try again! So that could mean in 2 cycles it took around 6 weeks to conceive for you? I used the CP OPK but learned today from another lovely commenter in this thread that I had been calculating DPO completely wrong so next month (fingers crossed not needed!) I’ll be all informed and well set! X

H1994 · 25/10/2022 15:33

@Rockygal thank you! Yes!... there are lots of stories out there, but it's definitely possible (and I kinda thought about it as I get more times to try a year because I bleed every 3 weeks instead of every 4!) Haha I would very much recommend ovulation strips if you're open to that! X

Rockygal · 25/10/2022 15:30

@H1994 that’s amazing congratulations! That’s really reassuring too I feel like sometimes the more I read and find out the more worried I get, some things I’ve read have made it seem like it’s near impossible to get pregnant on a short cycle but you’re proof ☺️!

OP posts:
H1994 · 25/10/2022 14:51

My cycles are usually 22-26 days, and I was very very lucky and fell pregnant on my 2nd cycle. (I came off contraception a year before so had lots of time to become regular again and hormones to leave my body!) I'm now 11+3 👍🏼

Rockygal · 25/10/2022 14:49

@allgoodthings84 oh I didn’t know that thank you! I suppose that can be seen as a good and bad thing, good I’m still early so the BFNs were really too early to detect anything but bad that my luteal phase is pretty short! I guess I just need to have patience 🤷🏽‍♀️

OP posts:
allgoodthings84 · 25/10/2022 14:41

@Rockygal 1dpo is 2 days after the static opk as ovulation is 12-36 hours after a positive opk. Then 1dpo is the day after ovulation so you may be earlier than you think 😊
