I’ve got a meeting with my GP today. Reading through your comments has really helped encourage me to go in there advocating for myself and wanting answers! I’ve talked to them a few times and each time I’ve come away feeling like a nuisance and a bit like a silly woman… but I know something is wrong/different since the mc and I need help to find out why. Thank you ladies x

ChloeN · 01/11/2022 12:11

@ChickenT2b ive got a telephone appt on the 24th so at least that’s a start! Seems like they never want to see you anymore!!

@bunnykins123 oh god have you, that’s my worst nightmare🙈

bunnykins123 · 01/11/2022 11:51

@LovelyNanny26 congratulations! Pregnancy after a loss is a really anxious time. Defo give them 'navigating pregnancy after a loss' page a go - lots of the ladies were on this form and have successful migrated over there. Wishing you the best 💕

@ChloeN ah you can do it! Just turn away and close your eyes, it'll be over before you know it. I've had about 20 vials of blood taken now and they have all be absolutely fine.

ChickenT2b · 01/11/2022 11:51

@ChloeN I think as long as you voice your reasons well they shouldn’t deny you. You just want to make sure your key bloods are where they should be for successful conception and future pregnancy. It’s a sensible and reasonable request at the end of the day and the least they can offer after what we’ve been through. X

ChloeN · 01/11/2022 10:56

@ChickenT2b @FfayeN think i might phone for a blood test in that case! I bloody hate having my blood taken though 😵‍💫🤣

FfayeN · 01/11/2022 10:09

@Rabbitjungle1 absolutely worth an ask for bloodwork, and under your NHS number so long as the hospital were aware it will all be on record.

@LovelyNanny26 it's called 'navigating pregnancy after loss' I think it's on thread 5 now. Good luck

@Rabbitjungle1 i had blood work done after my mc. My GP said it was perfectly reasonable to request. She tested everything from vit D to all sex hormones, folate etc etc.
I then had a chemical pregnancy and my GP referred me to Tommy’s recurrent mc clinic in Coventry. I had further bloods and invitation to research trial which I have not accepted. She also gave me progesterone to take when I conceive again. I am saying when not if because well 💪🏼💪🏼 🌈
Hope that helps, go get those bloods. You really have to advocate for yourself and I have found doctors to be sympathetic to my situation to date.
I went to see my GP just yesterday because according to canesten self tests I have an infection. She has agreed to refer me for an ultra sound to check my internals. I suspected I had endo but my pain has really eased post mc, if not disappeared. And I also find sex painful at times. So it’s got me worried there may be something underlying!

ChloeN · 01/11/2022 08:03

@Rabbitjungle1 sorry to hear of your loss lovely. I didn’t contact GP but I went to have my blood pressure checked as it was really high in hospital when I had medical management, they had all the details of the loss on file so I would assume yours would be the same!xx

TheBirdintheCave · 01/11/2022 07:55

@LovelyNanny26 This is a TTC thread and a lot of us aren't pregnant yet here. I think you'll get more support on a thread for people who are now pregnant following a miscarriage :) Good luck!

LovelyNanny26 · 01/11/2022 07:43

Hi Guys.I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant with baby number 2. Back in May I have suffered a miscarriage at 9 weeks pregnant and I'm really nervous to refer myself to the midwife this time again.I might wait closer to 12 weeks and refer myself then.My work is crazy before Christmas and I was offered loads of overtime and I really need extra money with everything going up.I work in childcare BTW.Thanks.

Bubblesandballoons · 01/11/2022 07:38

@mummatara sorry it’s not resolved and you need surgery. Hope it all goes well tomorrow x
@Rabbitjungle1 sorry for your loss. I think it’s very dependent on your gp if they do bloods tbh, so maybe worth an ask, they can only say no. My gp wouldn’t do bloods, but referred me after 2 miscarriages to recurrent miscarriage.

bunnykins123 · 01/11/2022 07:09

@mummatara good luck today! I'm sure it'll be a fairly quick procedure and at least you know that'll be the end of it!

@TheBirdintheCave I get similar but always just assumed it was wind 🙃

@Rabbitjungle1 I'm sorry you've found yourself in this group. I didn't after my 1st mmc but I went on to conceive DD. I've since had 3 miscarriages and called the GP after the 3rd. I didn't register with any of them as they were early losses but I was referred to the reoccurring miscarriage clinic fairly straightforward.

Rabbitjungle1 · 01/11/2022 06:22

Hi ladies, hope it's okay to join in. I've caught up on most of this thread, as I didn't want to jump in and ask questions that had already been asked and answered!

@mummatara I really feel for you. Hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow, and that your weekend is brighter x

@TheBirdintheCave this has blown my mind, I didn't know phantom kicks were a thing! 😯

A little about me. I conceived in July (first planned pregnancy), and miscarried at ~10.5 weeks at the end of September. Well, in my mind I was that far along, but we found out that the heartbeat had stopped at 6.5. Had surgical management on 30th September and just had my first period post-MC. It was shorter and lighter than normal which I was a bit concerned about, but good to see from all your experiences that it's not uncommon post-MC.

We are going straight into trying again, so I'm back on OPKs and BBT this week. I would probably have liked another month or two, but I have endometriosis and the longer I am off hormonal contraception the worse it gets (including during early pregnancy) 😕 So don't feel I can 'afford' not to jump straight back in.

I was wondering if you spoke to your GPs after your MCs? I didn't, as I just assumed that the hospital would send them a letter to have on file, but it occurs to me that maybe I should make sure that's been done? In the event that I have more MCs, I want to be sure that they are all recorded. I was under the impression that they wouldn't do anything after one MC anyway, but it sounds from higher up this thread (sorry, I have forgotten who mentioned it) that some of you were able to get a blood work-up, is that right? Or was that only after multiple MCs?

Thank you for any advice x

pangolin84 · 31/10/2022 19:57

Oh @mummatara that is so shit. As if it hadn’t clung on for long enough already ☹️ How can we let our bodies know it’s ok for them to let go?
Sending hugs for Wednesday and fingers crossed it will be the start of a new chapter x

FfayeN · 31/10/2022 19:27

@Everythingzrosie at least you can start getting better now ☺️.
@mummatara hit the reset button and then when you can DH will be raring to go and get one of those juicy eggs fertilised! Xx

MrsCristianoX · 31/10/2022 17:31

@Everythingzrosie I hope that's sorts it..🙏 an outer ear infection then? Nasty with the dizzy spells though 😢

Everythingzrosie · 31/10/2022 16:53

@MrsCristianoX Hi so I went into the pharmacy and asked. I was told to talk to my gp because from what I described, said it could be an infection. So I did an online consult. Had a call from a paramedic in my gp surgery who asked me to pop in. So I was seen as soon as I walked in. Said I have an inflamed ear and to use EarCalm for a week.

Babydustmamma · 31/10/2022 16:40

@TheBirdintheCave and @mummatara I’ve had this too!!! Weirdest thing, thought I was going crazy x

Babydustmamma · 31/10/2022 16:39

@mummatara I’m sorry ♥️ Must feel like such a knock, these things add another level of trauma to navigate through which you didn’t need. Only positive is that it is now found and you’re booked in, but that doesn’t make it any easier to cope with I’m sure ♥️ xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 31/10/2022 15:00

@mummatara It's just the weirdest phenomenon. Totally convincing. I hope they go away soon.

mummatara · 31/10/2022 14:54

@TheBirdintheCave I had so many phantom kicks after I had DS and I got them after the first MC

mummatara · 31/10/2022 14:53

@ChloeN yes v frustrating but not long to wait 🤞🏼

@FfayeN 😂 I know I actually can't wait to indulge poor DH won't be getting any action but I'll tell him to conserve his energy 😂 it feels like forever since we've just enjoyed going out getting cocktails and eating good food not a bad way to start 37

@bunnykins123 thanks lovely❤️ yes I knew there was a v high chance so I'm not super shocked tbh. She showed me on the screen the sac all still there doesn't even look broken up 🤦🏼‍♀️she even showed me my nice good looking ovaries she said

TheBirdintheCave · 31/10/2022 14:49

Does anyone else who's had a baby before still get phantom kicks? I had them on and off last year and then they stopped and just this past week they've come back again but instead of one every month or so this is loads of times a day.

It feels exactly like when my son was between 12-20 weeks, like I've got a little goldfish inside wriggling and tickling.

It's starting to get really annoying x_x

bunnykins123 · 31/10/2022 14:12

@mummatara oh hun I'm so sorry. I know you said you thought that was a possibility due to not passing much previously. It's good they can get you in so quickly tomorrow! You've really been through the mill with this, big hugs from me 💕

FfayeN · 31/10/2022 14:06

@mummatara what a way to end the ordeal though! Start the next age year with gusto and freedom from the MC, with a hefty glass and some nice food 🥰 xx
