This is utterly ridiculous but Google is shit at 'advice' and I need some real people..

How long did it take you to conceive first time? Google sets unrealistic expectations and I'm sick of feeling crap because of it..

I am TTC baby no1 and I need some real answers in how long it took, or if you are still trying?

✨Thank you

First time, both times. Aged 29 and 31.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 11/10/2022 06:24

14/15 cycles. We had tests done and had a male factor issue hence it took longer I think, but we got there in the end. 21 weeks pregnant with a baby girl 💖

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/10/2022 00:34

A month first time, 8 years the second.

DramaAlpaca · 11/10/2022 00:33

11 months. I was starting to get really worried, then it suddenly happened.

After that, I conceived DC2 literally the first time of trying, and DC3 in the fourth month.

Got2besoon · 11/10/2022 00:00

4th month - DS1
5th month- MMC at 8 weeks
Trying now for 9 months since MMC and nothing :(

First time trying for my first, 3 months for my 2nd.

Decided on valentines to stop taking the pill and took a positive test at the start of April so just over a month. One cycle.
Next was a month again. Baby didn't make it but 5 months from its passing it took to another positive test.
Last kid was a result of just the one time. DH and I hadn't had sex in almost 2 years (pregnancy, birth, new baby stress and tiredness). We did the deed just one time and that was all it took. I think my body knew I was fertile because I only felt the urge that one time. Thankfully the pregnancy gave me a huge libido boost that's remained high for the last 10 years now. DH and I are very fertile or were up til he had the snip.

I conceived the first month we tried.

I read a brilliant book which really hit home - it highlighted that we spend so much of our younger years trying to control not getting pregnant that it is just really hard to get your head around the fact that you can’t really control getting pregnant. That was a really turning point for me.

ifellintoarabbithole · 10/10/2022 21:06

An early miscarriage after trying for 10 months, then a successful pregnancy two months later.

Mind you, I didn't really understand my cycle when we first started trying which I think is partly why it took so long.

Second was conceived much more quickly, however with another early miscarriage in between.

mrsgtobe97 · 10/10/2022 21:02

9th cycle but took just over 2 years due to PCOS, ovulation meds worked 2nd cycle 😊

Moon5 · 10/10/2022 21:00

4 months x

Surreymumma · 10/10/2022 21:00

First month

mummaoftwo22 · 10/10/2022 20:59

10 months with the first, I was similar to you and didn't expect it to take as long at all it was quite stressful tracking everything etc, the month we decided to stop tracking and just go with the flow we conceived.

With the second it happened first try which was a huge shock as I'd got in my head that it would take just as long if not longer than the first.

Essexgirlupnorth · 10/10/2022 20:53

16 months I have PCOS though. Your don't want to know how long we have been trying for number 2

weegiemum · 10/10/2022 20:52

Dd1 - first month
Ds - second month
Dd2 - I had a mirena and still got pregnant, so wasn't trying!

Parky04 · 10/10/2022 20:49

2 years and first time for the second!

Blessedbethefruitz · 10/10/2022 20:48

5 months both times. Alas, we started ttc started in the new year both times too so now we have both birthdays 7 days apart in bloody January 😂

snowflake29 · 10/10/2022 20:48

13 months with the first, all actively "trying" although I have very long cycles so didn't have many chances in that time.

2nd was 8 months of not preventing and not tracking anything.

Timpani · 10/10/2022 20:46

DC1 - 2.5 years and a round of IVF
DC2 - not trying, 15 months after DC1.
DC3 - 6 years and 1 failed IVF round and now given up.

SunshineClouds1 · 10/10/2022 20:42

4 years via IVF
One MMC and one CP

First month.

We both had so many things against us (health and age mostly) that we had agreed to give it a year. It was a shock to conceive the first month we tried.

Same with us! Quite a few factors going against us, so it was a shock.

Started ttc DC2 and was all set for it to take longer, assumed DC1 was a fluke… 2 months later I was pregnant again.

I have an odd ‘theory’ that it’s less to do with the individuals and more to do with how their ingredients mix it that makes sense? I had quite a few ‘scares’ with a much younger and healthier ex that never resulted in anything.

catsnore · 10/10/2022 20:39

First time: 3/4 months
Second time: seven years 🙈

LillyBugg · 10/10/2022 20:37

DS1 - three cycles
DS2 - ten cycles

Ten felt like a long time to me, it was about 10-11 months of trying. I can see now it wasn't really that long.

TTC94 · 10/10/2022 20:27

Partner and I were both under 30. 12 months to get pregnant - ended in miscarriage. Then a further 2 months until conceiving again - successful pregnancy.

It was a long and painful process x
