Planning for TTC & waiting for 1st period 🩸

Wondered if anyone else is stopping their pill and fancies a thread for planning TTC and keeping eachother company while waiting for ovulation/1st period?

DP & I have decided to TTC baby 2. Our DS is 14m. He was conceived 1st cycle, within 2 weeks of stopping the pill, v lucky.

I'm still breastfeeding (3-4 times during the day, no overnight feeds now) and just come off cerelle. With BF in the mix no idea how long it's going to take for my cycles to return... I'm 37 so I'm hoping it's going to be fast!

First timers welcome too 🙂 when I got my BFP it was really handy and reassuring being on a thread with people who'd already had a baby.

Aww wish I’d seen this sooner! Same situation as me, my little one is 14 months too! Came off the pill mid August. I was going to just let the first cycle pass but ended up trying just on the off chance 🙈 I had a ridiculously long cycle (32 days). This cycle so far I’m on cd16 and no hint of a dark line on any ovulation tests. I’m just bored waiting 🙄

Surreycb · 08/10/2022 20:30

Can I join this thread too? :)

three weeks ago I stopped the pill after taking it for a number of years TTC baby no 1. I had a withdrawal bleed straight away and having tracked my ovulation each day since then, found out today that I’m ovulating (wierdly getting lots of cramps on my left side which I’ve never really noticed before…) really excited for this journey!

Skyla01 · 04/10/2022 21:18

Still waiting here too. But it took 6 weeks last time so at least I know it's probably still a bit of waiting to do.

Charlotte1256 · 04/10/2022 15:43

I’m getting really fed up and impatient now waiting for a period! 😭🙈

MilkyAndFluffy · 02/10/2022 23:13

Still (impatiently) waiting for my cycle too… Hope everyone else is good! 🤗

Skyla01 · 01/10/2022 13:04

@Mayfield87 ooh exciting you are already in the trying phase! I've just started my folic acid so all good to go. Just need a cycle now...

Mayfield87 · 01/10/2022 07:21

I'm 3dpo here so trying to patiently wait 🤪

FivePotatoesHigh · 30/09/2022 20:33

Really hope AF hurries up for everyone else - it is so stressful waiting.

FivePotatoesHigh · 30/09/2022 20:32

CD3 here! Once AF is done will get cracking…

Skyla01 · 30/09/2022 20:22

@Charlotte1256 sods law... But hopefully not! Hope your af comes soon and then the baby making can start on holiday, that would be better timing! Don't worry, things will get going soon enough. It just feels like such a looong wait at the start.

Any progress from anyone else? Still waiting for af here.

Charlotte1256 · 30/09/2022 19:30

So it’s 4 weeks today since I took my last pill and still nothing!
I go on holiday in 2 weeks time so you just know my period is going to wait until then to arrive 😂

Charlotte1256 · 28/09/2022 13:27

@MilkyAndFluffy I didn’t think I’d become obsessed so quickly either, but here I am nearly 4 weeks in and every spare minute I’m Googling everything and looking on threads like this one 🙈

I’m the same! I swore I wouldn’t start obsessing over things like OPKs but I have them ready to go as soon as AF finishes

Skyla01 · 29/09/2022 10:58

@Charlotte1256 last time I came off the pill I had lots of cramps for a few weeks, and I think I felt a bit sick and faint at times. Just not quite right. Not nice symptoms but kinda normal I think as the body readjusts. I remember taking a few pregnancy tests too, just in case. Some people do fall pregnant straight away though.

@MilkyAndFluffy main thing for me is not to stress and obsess! Last time TTC was horrible in that way for me, particularly as it took so long. So currently I'm calmly waiting for af and then once my cycle has settled down will get on to trying properly! Only been a week or so since I stopped my pill so might still be a while to wait. TTC is such a lottery though, who knows.

Hello, please can I join? I’ve just found this thread 😊
I came off the mini pill after 10 years on Saturday 3rd September. I don’t know if I’ve had my withdrawal bleed as if I did it was very very light and only lasted a day?
I’ve been feeling so sick and tired this last week, pregnancy tests are negative just to rule that out so I think it’s the awful effects of coming off the pill.
Just waiting for AF to arrive hopefully soon so I know what’s going on!
xx

Hey @Charlotte1256 , fingers crossed you get your AF soon! I also felt very sick and tired the last couple of days but must be a side affect of the pill coming out my system! From what I’ve researched the withdrawal bleeding isn’t like a period so sounds like you have had it! Exciting times, I have my fingers crossed for you x

@Skyla01 yeah I totally agree I am definitely trying not to stress about it and I didn’t think I would obsessed this quickly! I didn’t educate myself before hand so I was expecting to bleed straight away - now the last week has felt like the longest week ever! Feel much better knowing you also didn’t get withdrawal bleeding from coming off the mini pill and that you AF took around 6 weeks. How are you getting on this time around? Is there anything you did or didn’t do last time you are changing this time?

Skyla01 · 28/09/2022 12:38

@MilkyAndFluffy I was on mini pill and last time round I didn't get a withdrawal bleed. Took a while for my cycle to get started and af appeared about 6 weeks later. It's probably different for everyone. I wouldn't worry about pregnacare too much. Annoying as it is I would try not to stress about it just now- not much you can do but wait at the moment.

@HoppingTiger it is random, different for everyone. Depends on your body's cycle getting going again. Hope you don't have too long to wait!

@HoppingTiger it seems to often be random - my withdrawal bleed started 17 Aug and I’ve just got AF on 28 Sept.

And, I think it’s normal to feel that way!

It’s definitely AF! Going to start using OPKs after this…

HoppingTiger · 28/09/2022 11:19

Does anyone know if first period usually comes randomly or 3 weeks after withdrawal bleed? (I had withdrawal bleed and it was definitely lighter and shorter so not a period)

Agree on the apps. I downloaded Flo and am trying to get to grips with it ready for when my period comes.

I think I'll get some easy@home to try and start working out when ovulation is once my cycle regulates. Hoping to DTD every other day but think it'll be good to be aware when we really need to make sure we do it.

It is all quite surreal to me. I know you can never feel fully ready and everything else in my life is at a good stage for a baby. But it is scary.

FivePotatoesHigh · 28/09/2022 08:59

PS why have all tracking apps been designed for people who know when their cycle is every month? (I know the answer, I’ve read articles about it, it’s cos they were designed by men)

FivePotatoesHigh · 28/09/2022 08:49

Had a tiny bit of possible AF today although very light. Am hoping this is it and she’s finally showing up!

HoppingTiger · 27/09/2022 22:18

I have also just come off the pill as planning to ttc number 1. We have decided to not officially try until January as it works better with a holiday planned next year early summer. Also thought it would be good to allow 2-3 months for my cycle to settle. Started taking Seven Seas folic acid & vitamins.

I have had a withdrawal bleed but no period yet.

MilkyAndFluffy · 27/09/2022 22:15

Hi Ladies! Just wondering if I can join onto your chat… I came off the mini pill last week and have been impatiently waiting for withdrawal bleeding or my AF! None have made an appearance yet but after reading through this thread that sounds normal - phew. I have saw someone mention pregnacare pre pregnancy vitamins can cause something with messing up your cycle?! I started taking these the day I stopped my pill so really worried that might not be helping! Does anyone have any advice for me? I started taking them as I didn’t have a clue what vitamins I needed and that tablet seemed to have it all - are there better ones I could be taking instead? I am TTC #1 so very new to all this and don’t really have a clue what I’m doing!

loved reading through this thread and excited to keep updated on all your progress. Spreading lots of baby dust to you all 😍xxx

Mayfield87 · 27/09/2022 13:05

I agree with @BattenburgBerry as currently my app says I ovulate yesterday but my OPKs still haven't produced a peak. I ovulate later than the app so would normally give up thinking I've done as much as I could that month.
Congratulations too ❤️
@Skyla01 yep totally get that, I think if you can just relax and go with it, it is a more enjoyable process.
