Hey Guys.

Sorry this might be a long post. I am hoping you guys can advice as my doctors are not being much help at all. I have had to pervious MC's and so just want conformation so I can get an early scan and put my mind at ease.

My last AF was the 2nd - 4th August this year and it was a normal AF for me. However, I have not had one since.

According to Flo I ovulated around the 13th August and so me and the OH DTD around that window.
My cycles normally range from between 21 and 28 days and it changes from month to month.
My AF was due on the 26th August but it never showed up. I had some very light spotting on the 23rd and 24th that only showed when I wiped. It then got a little heavier and so I put a Pad on expecting AF. However, it was only very light (used 1 ST) and stopped within a few hours and then that was it. I am normally a heavy bleeder and so I instantly knew something was off.
I did a couple of cheap pregnancy tests and they came back with faint positives.
The faint positives coupled with a strange tugging sensation behind my belly button prompted me to go to the doctors. I did not see a doctor I saw the practise paramedic. She did a pregnancy and urine test (I could not really go and so there was not much to test). The pregnancy test was negative and the urine test suggested a possible urine infection. Therefore she asked me to do a urine and stool sample to send of to the Lab and get back in contact with the results.
The results came back all clear and so they decided to put my on Omeprazole but all that has done is make my IBS worse and the symptoms are still there.

I have since done some blue clear blue tests and they have all come back negative but I have still been having pregnancy symptoms and still no sign of AF yet. The current symptoms I have are

  • sever nausea and vomiting. I am getting up multipal times a night. Honestly it's so horrible
  • going to the toilet more than normal
  • Sense of smell is stronger than normally and certain smells make my nausea worse.
  • I am very bloated and have a very hard tummy around my Betty Hutton. I know the bloating is not caused by my IBS because I am still going to the toilet.
  • sore and aches Boobs and they have changed in colour and look fuller
  • sever fatigue. All I want to do is sleep.

So therefore all of these things have lead me to believe I am pregnant but the doctors are not willing to do anything else. They want me to be on the Omeprazole for 4 weeks (3 weeks left) and see if that makes a difference to anything. They also refuse to do blood tests which I have asked for multiple times
I have contacted my Local EPU but they will not see me unless the doctors refer me to them. I just have no clue what to do next.

Definitely ring 111 especially if your in pain they will be able to give you the right advice and more often than not they will want you to be seen by someone within a certain timeframe! Vomiting and pain should never be ignored- coming from someone who suffered for a year with gallstones/gallbladder infections and pancreatitis. Don’t leave it to get better on it’s own if your in pain 💕

@Gillseybear You know your own body, and you know what is normal for you and what's not. If you feel something isn't right then i would just keep pestering them until you get the answers you need. Stress can play a huge part in how your body reacts to different things and your situation won't be helping. It's hard to stay relaxed when you have so much going on. I'm glad you have your group for support. I would be inclined to hold off having a wee for a couple of hours and do an frer tonight. If you are pregnant, and could be 6 weeks, it would show at any point in the day by now xx

Horcruxe · 17/09/2022 21:22

Its happened to me.

You get a faint positive. Then negatives. But your period takes ages to come. It isnt just late by a day or two.

Gillseybear · 17/09/2022 21:21

@Cartmel ah okay thank you. I have never used them before, I normally buy Frer tests and so was confused. It's what my partner picked up. I asked the doctors to do a blood test after my urine and stool sample came back clear but all I got from them was a text message saying ' now that your stool sample has come back clear we will try Omeprazole which helps with acid refux/ biliary colic. If you have no improvement after 4 weeks please phone back' I did not even get a phone call from them and it's so frustrating.

I know you said money is tight but a private scan may be the best quickest way to know for sure. You could call around and possibly get an appointment tomorrow they vary and are around £50. Wowcher and groupon sometimes do deals on them. Good luck this sounds very frustrating.

Gillseybear · 17/09/2022 21:18

@MrsT8509 thank you so much for your response. It's been a rough month. Trying to figure things out with this on top is horrible. I am trying to keep myself as relaxed and unstressed as possible but it's not really working. So I have been going to my support group most days of the week.

I have never felt this way before. When I had my previous pregnancy's symptoms were not this severe. I have put on a bit of weight since then and so I might be feeling it a bit more because of that. However, I know this is not acid reflux or biliary colic like the doctors think. This is a completely different pain to that. I think I might give 101 a ring and see what they say. I cannot keep waiting for answers.

Yes the clear blue ones that only show a vertical line if positive? They seem to have a clear horizontal line across the test no idea why but I’ve had multiple clear blue tests do that! Very annoying. I really hope you get to the Bottom of what is happening- a blood test really would solve all the confusion around pregnancy! If they’re thinking biliary colic could you not suggest that they do a blood count to Include checking your liver/pancreas function and asking if they can also test for hcg too to be on the safe side?? Might be a way around it

MrsT8509 · 17/09/2022 21:13

@Gillseybear I really hope you're okay. Sounds like, aside from this, you are having a really stressfull time. I'm not saying you are or aren't pregnant, but could some of your symptoms be made worse because of the stress? It's such a headfuck when you don't know what's going on with your body. There is always an ear here if you need to vent or get anything off your chest xx

Gillseybear · 17/09/2022 20:40

@Cartmel what they have the horizontal line on them clear as a daisy before you dip them in urine??? That's what mine were like, I thought it was normal but have since read that they should be totally blank.

@MrsT8509 I have not been able to test in over a week because money has bern tight. I got paid today and so picked up some Frer tests to do. Was going to try and leave it until Tuesday morning if I could unless AF of something miraculous happens before then. Going on my past few cycles, AF would be Due then

@cadburyegg as said above I have not done a test in well over a week as I have not been able to afford one. I do not have any symptoms to suggest miscarriage or chemical as I have had 2 before and both times my symptoms stopped but they are just getting stronger and more apparent. I did consider miscarriage but EPU were not willing to do anything unless the doctors referred me.

My doctors are adamant that it's acid reflux or biliary colic which I have had before. Hence why they have put my on the Omeprazole. However these symptoms are completely different to that. I have thrown up 8 times today already and the nausea had not yet stopped. The only over time this happened was when I was pregnant. I attended a local women's centre and even my support work there has suggested that she believes I am pregnant especially when she looked at how bloated I was.

I am not having a go at anybody here just trying to figure things out as I am so confused and just wish the doctors would look into it instead of brushing it off. I am going to give them a ring on Tuesday morning and speak to them and see if I can speak to my doctor who is more understanding.

For context I was made homeless recently because my landlord sold the house unexpectedly. So currently living in a B&B that the council has put us in with only a kettle. We have been here 3 weeks and money is super tight which has been made worse by the fact that I have been signed of off work.

Sounds like an early miscarriage/chemical to me too I'm afraid. Pregnancy tests are pretty accurate these days and if you were 6 weeks pregnant you should be getting strong positives by now.

The doctors are probably refusing to do anything because there isn't much they can do.

You need to keep an eye on your symptoms and if you get severe pain or bleeding then go to A&E.

MrsT8509 · 17/09/2022 19:25

@Gillseybear When did you last do a test? X

Cartmel · 17/09/2022 19:24

Hi…all of those tests have the horizontal line on it’s part of the test I’ve used them a lot. I hope you get Answers soon x

Gillseybear · 17/09/2022 17:49

@Horcruxe can I ask what makes you think chemical???? Nothing I have seen in my symptoms suggests that to me and I have looked into it.

As I said in my second message. I think the Clear blue tests I used were faulty. They were the blue dye ones and both tests had the negative horizontal line on before I used them. So I am pretty sure they were faulty tests. I have since picked up some more tests to do this week is symptoms continue and AF does not show.
Not having a go just wondering what makes you think that???

OP posts:
Horcruxe · 17/09/2022 17:41

It sounds like a chemical pregnancy.

So you were pregnant but only for a few days. And then the pregnancy failed.

But it can take up to 2- 4 weeks for the lining to shed.

Sometimes people dont realise and just put it down as a late period. Then they get their prior a few weeks late.

If you hadnt done a pregnancy test. And then waited 2 weeks before doing one it would have been negative.

At this stage there isnt anything they can do anyway.

There is no way to stop a miscarriage if you are going to miscarry. The only time they would be interested is if it was a potential ectopic pregnancy.

If you can afford a private blood test for BHCG then I would arrange that.

But from what you've said I would think your period would come maybe in the next couple of weeks.

If you get severe abdominal pains. Seek urgent medical attention.

And if you havent had a period for longer than 2- 3 months you might need a scan.

Gillseybear · 17/09/2022 17:34

@PPPPlease thank you so much for your response. I had not even thought about having an early scan to be honest. I think I might look into it.
I think the clear blue tests I got were faulty as I have never brought pregnancy tests before that had the negative line on them before they were even taken. Both tests had the horizontal negative line on them but they were brand new and sealed. So brought some more tests today to try again tomorrow. I have done this because AF should be due around Monday if not pregnant. Although pretty certain I am.

Is a private blood test an option? I believe Spire hospitals do them, I imagine Bupa would too, although it would be unusual for clear blue not to pick up a positive at this stage.

Private early scan?
