Starting a new thread for a bit of hopefulness 🤞

I'm TTC #1 following a MMC in October and another one in June. Both around 10.5-11.5 weeks.

Really hoping this is our month. August conception worked last year, even though it ended a few months later 🥺

I'm CD8 now and tend to ovulate CD15/16 so will be testing or getting my period around 10/11 September.

Who's with me? 💕

Hello ladies.

Can anyone see the line on here? I know it's not a sensitive test (it's all I had in the house! And the urge to POAS was too strong 🫠)

I will try and get a more sensitive one today.

But in the meantime....

Hello @NatGee and @Presently83

My partner has been having some health issues for about 2 years but as he's young (29), he did the I'm sure I'll be fine stunt. We brought a home last year and finally I've managed to get him to switch doctors which came with a new patient health check. They did some bloods and said he has a few vitamin deficiencies and a fatty liver. They're concerned about the liver so he's got to have a bit more done to ensure it is 'just' a fatty liver.

Presently83 · 26/08/2022 21:21

@MissBeeBee hey hey, welcome! Sounds like your body is doing its thing. Sounds great. Hope your partner is OK!

@MissBeeBee good luck, hope your partners treatment goes well xx

MissBeeBee · 26/08/2022 18:23

Hey, I'd like to join if that's okay?

I'm CD 16 with my expected ovulation being tomorrow. I haven't been taking any tests just going on the signs of my body (sang that like Shakira while typing!) I had EWCM heavy yesterday and day before with a tiny bit today. We DTD CD13 and CD15. Think I've worn partner put (he's currently undergoing some medical tests for liver issues). I really wanted to DTD today and tomorrow but may have to settle for just tomorrow... I've heard DTD every other day is a good plan. This will be baby #1 if we manage to conceive!

Presently83 · 26/08/2022 11:58

@NatGee also you're totally right about afternoon surges; whenever I use cheapies I catch it then, and a few times I've done CB tests twice a day because of a feeling it suddenly switched to solid smiley.

I figure DTD is covering all bases irrespective of OPKs. SURELY!

OP posts:
Presently83 · 26/08/2022 11:57

@NatGee yeah I've been reading about that - my OH now has a good count and great motility but morphology wasn't great back in May when it was last tested (pre the mad supplement regime I now have him on, and only a month after quitting Finasteride which is a hair loss drug that destroys sperm, so hoping it's improved even more now) so perhaps every day is better for us. Both times we've conceived we've done every day more or less in fertile week 🤞 Sadly we're on hols so can't get hold of cheapies, but figure that if we keep DTD up to CD19 we'll be ok. My cycles are always 26-28 days (unless immediately after a miscarriage) so I know I don't ovulate late.

@Orangesaretheonly that would be such a great birthday present! 🎁

@B93 yeah they're not the best, and the monitor seems to work best once you've used it for a few months - I do agree that the cheapies seem to be most reliable!

OP posts:
B93 · 26/08/2022 11:18

From other peoples experiences both cheap and clear blue get mixed reviews. Some people only get the flashing smiley on CB.

Last cycle we DTD every other day but everyday once I was getting dark lines on ovulation test.

🤞🏼🙏🏻🍀

Orangesaretheonly · 26/08/2022 10:59

Hi! Thanks for new thread!
Finally got peak LH today 🙌
CD15 so a few days later than my usual but had a chemical last month so was expecting a different cycle. Dtd last night and will do again tonight and tomorrow and then cross everything!

It's my birthday in September so a bfp would be the best present!!
Baby dust to all ✨✨

NatGee · 26/08/2022 10:55

@Presently83 Do you have any of the cheapies? I hear that LH surges are picked up in the afternoon so fmu may not be the best
In fact, had i relied solely on my CB I would have missed an entire 18 hours of my peak

DTD everyday does lower sperm count (i dont know after how long?) but fresh sperm is better morphed and more motile. in my books that means better quality. This cycle we bd'd everyday so we'll see if that pays off

Good luck x

Presently83 · 26/08/2022 10:50

CD14 and day 5 of CB flashing smiley! Second line on the stick looks darker but I'm not sure you can judge from that?! Expected it to be static today after four flashings, but maybe tomorrow?!

I used the CB advanced monitor last month and had lots of highs then too before I gave up testing and just kept DTD until ovulation pains. I think the last miscarriage has befuddled my cycles a little.

One thing is that I keep waking up at 5/6am (I'm abroad) and so using that wee because it's after the longest sleep, then going back to sleep, so maybe it's not picking up enough at that point?! Who knows.

I tend to get ovulation pains around CD15/16 so will watch for those.

Does anyone think that DTD every day is too much?? I've read that if sperm count is normal it's ok, but I don't want to 'run out' before peak days!

OP posts:
NatGee · 26/08/2022 10:38

@B93 I tracked for the first time this cycle. I used the clearblue OPK only and when it begun flashing i also used the strips in the afternoons. I caught my peak that way one afternoon and it was still very dark by the next morning and then it began to fade, so i'd say for a day? in my case at least.

B93 · 25/08/2022 21:21

@Presently83 I usually get EWCM but not a lot and one day last cycle.

@Ellbelll I tried temperature alongside ovulation tests last cycle. My usual resting body temp is between 36.3-36.5. It went up to between 36.9-37.2 for 2-3 days. A few days after my first strong line on an ovulation test.

For anyone using the strip ovulation tests…When you are ovulating how long do you get a strong positive line (as dark as or darker than control line). I am fairly new to using these. I had two surges in one cycle (which I know doesn’t necessarily mean I ovulated). The first lasted a day then a few days later I got strong positives for six days in a row.

B93 · 25/08/2022 21:08

@Presently83 I think if I got pregnant with twins my husband would have heart failure 🤣

I am nearly 30 but already will be a bit of an age gap with DD - 6. We both always wanted 2 or 4 (not a odd number). So twins would make it an odd number 🙈

I was told I had endometriosis quite young so we new our chances were slim any. With DD I just came off my pill and if it was meant to be it was meant to be. 15 months later including an ectopic pregnancy we got a positive test for DD.

Sending positive vibes 🤞🏼🙏🏻🍀

Presently83 · 25/08/2022 14:36

@NatGee oh interesting! I was wondering if that might be a thing with DTD every day! Hope it's there and I just can't see it.... 🤞

OP posts:
NatGee · 25/08/2022 14:18

@Ellbelll hey and welcome! Many things can affect bbt like Alcohol and short continuous sleep. Stress too. That is a big increase, if its still high the next day or two, I'd be tempted to say you've just ovulated. Good luck x

Ellbelll · 25/08/2022 14:12

Hey everyone hope you’re all okay today! Has anyone had the copper coil? I had mine taken out in July and had a period since then! Now I’m ttc I’ve been noticing a few new symptoms for ovulation which is weird. I’ve been cramping and spotting but haven’t ovulated yet, I hoping it’s because it’s close..

Ive also been taking my temp daily and I went from 36.2 to 37.3 today, bit of a jump 😅 does anyone know if this means ovulation will be soon?

NatGee · 25/08/2022 13:48

@Presently83 yeah, usually I get loads on the one day. But this cycle I only got a little. I'm attributing it to the fact we dtd more than usual during my fertile period. As long as you know you've ovulated, I wouldn't worry too much as it just might be a case of not having seen it.

Presently83 · 25/08/2022 13:22

@Shefliesonherownwings my sister-in-law just had her first at 42 so it does happen, but yeah it's less likely and more scary. Hoping for both of us!

I'm feeling ok today. Day 4 of flashing smiley, CD13, expecting a static one tomorrow. Been DTDing every day since CD10. Keeping that up until CD18 or so, then probably down to every other day for a bit.

Don't yet have any EWCM that I can see which is worrying as I'm on Clomid to try and make me ovulate from both sides to bypass the blocked tube issue, and it can dry out cervical mucus. Which is not ideal. I've had loads of it during other cycles while on Clomid (just one day visibly, though) so maybe it's coming tomorrow. Who knows any more!

Feeling slightly crampy and twingy which I always do running up to ovulation.

Does anyone else get visible EWCM for only one day?

Shefliesonherownwings · 25/08/2022 09:28

Morning all, how is everyone? OP I am 38 too, will be 39 later this year so I feel as if this needs to happen soon if I am going to have a baby before I am 40. I know plenty of people have babies over 40 but my anxiety goes into overdrive when pregnant because of my previous loss that I think being over 40 would add so many extra layers of anxiety.

DH and I DTD yesterday and I got my first CB flashing smiley this morning so we're going to keep up the baby dancing for the next few days. DH is very happy with this plan lol.

Presently83 · 24/08/2022 20:15

@B93 I totally get that. It's been such a horrible journey this time that around I'm already nervous about what happens if we have one in time to want another and have to go through all this pain again when I'm even older and more likely to miscarry.

I always wanted four children but just never met the right person / was too focused on work until I was bloody 36 - and then he wasn't ready for more kids (he already has one) until I was 38. Bugger. Anyway, we can but hope! (Two sets of twins a year apart?!)

OP posts:
Presently83 · 24/08/2022 20:12

@NatGee no, I know, don't worry - I just really want to check LH rise etc to make sure my cycles are still regular, as I'm pretty sure I do ovulate each month around CD14-16; I've had enough scans to show I do. Though often from the wrong bloody side!

I don't temp because it made me so stressed having to remember to do it before doing anything else, and it not being accurate if you've had a couple of drinks or got up in the night to wee - it was driving me insane. So I just go with 'assuming' I've ovulated and hoping for the best 🙄

Crossing my fingers so hard for all of us this month! 🍀 🤞 🌈

Just had fifths with dinner but normally I'm a tiny eater. Is that a thing?

NatGee · 24/08/2022 16:43

@Presently83 oh good luck, i do hope these last two cycles actually come through for you guys baby dust! I am 38 so time is running out for me too and I also use the CB purple kit. One thing about them - they don't actually confirm ovulation, only that your body has prepared for expelling the ovum from the sac. BBT or pdg strips will help you confirm ovulation. Ignore me if that isn't what you meant? :D

B93 · 24/08/2022 16:34

@Presently83 Hopefully this is the cycle for us all 🤞🏼🙏🏻🍀

We agreed that we would give it a year. It has taken us a few years to decide if we are prepared for a second child. Mainly because of all the heart ache and having a difficult pregnancy with DD. However we are not putting our lives on hold… we have recently moved and taken on a bit of project with the new home (more than anticipated), I have just accepted a promotion and even booked a holiday abroad for April. I was convinced after we booked I would conceive but I am yet to be proven 🙈.

I just use ovulation tests I ordered from Amazon. Pack of 30 for about £5-6. Testing daily but will start doing am and pm around CD12.

I need some of your self control I am always tempted to test early. Although I usually have a 27 day cycle it isn’t unusual for me to go up to 32 days. Which is infuriating when hoping for a positive 🤦🏼‍♀️. With all of my pregnancies I have been nauseous almost instantly.
