Hi all, thought I'd start a new thread for those starting new cycles.
I'm on CD5, so only stopped my period today.
I have PCOS so ovulation is rare.. I had my first ever positive OPK last cycle so fingers crossed.
I'll start testing for ovulation at CD7ish and then every 2 days (last month was CD27 so could be a long wait haha).

@EdinburghGirl1 definitely keep us updated, sounds like ov is on its way.

I'm a little concerned that my temp hasn't risen too much following the ovulation drop 🫤
I'm trying not to overthink it because I've read that sometimes I can take a few days to raise but it's hard when things start going in a different direction to the norm!

@Sj2505 thank you. Started testing OPK today and blank O but just had some EWCM start today so probably going to be another early ovulation. Really hope this doesn't affect anything.

@dobby13 that's great your smiley has turned up. Happy BDing

@MissDottie sounds like you will be ovulating soon. When do you go on holiday?

Sj2505 · 11/08/2022 10:40

@MissDottie thank you.
Oh that's good news. Fingers crossed for us all! Happy BDing!

@Sj2505 so pleased you got your positive OPK and now on to the waiting part!

I am on to second day of EWCM and on CD 13 so very hopeful I am going to ovulate on time and have a chance this month before heading off on holiday!

Sj2505 · 11/08/2022 10:20

@LauraA31 that all sounds so promising 🤞🏼✨
I bet it's so hard not testing, best to keep tests out of the house haha! When do you think you'll test?

OP posts:
LauraA31 · 11/08/2022 10:15

@Sj2505 good morning!
Im 8DPO today and fighting the urge to test, i still haven’t bought any and know it’s unrealistic at this stage but im starting to let myself be a little hopeful..

My nipples are still tender, if my boobs are touched they’re sore and im still getting spots! I have had slight cramping at 6DPO but nothing since, the cramping was more in my lower back like a dull ache so assuming it was not anything to be excited about.
however i am shattered, I was so dizzy last night and could sleep all day, had some cereal this morning and feel very sick, i think that’s because i probably wasn’t hungry 😂 other than that, nothing to report!

Sj2505 · 11/08/2022 10:05

Good morning! How's everyone doing? Any updates?
I'm only 3dpo so not a lot happening here.

@dobby13 yay! Happy BDing 😊

@Sj2505 - and just like that, smiley face has turned up! I think these ones only give a static smiley, rather than a flashing one.

So excited 🤞🏻☺️

Sj2505 · 09/08/2022 21:41

@NatGee I think most healthcare professionals will take any excuse to tell us to exercise haha.. but I guess it makes sense to get the blood pumping and heading to the uterus. I actually enjoyed our walk though, made a nice change.
That's the one I have, but I only get one day flashing and one day static, I guess I have low level hormones because I don't get positives on cheapies.

When do you start using OPKs?

OP posts:
NatGee · 09/08/2022 21:24

@Sj2505 excellent tip there about implantation. Id read about how to encourage estrogen and progesterone but hadnt thought about how to aid implantation. Maybe thats one of the reasons why youre encouraged to exercise when ttcing? Well, thats me off my arse then

i got a cb opk today and yeah its purple. Its meant to give me 4 days advance notice by flashing and then remaining static. Still have a week before i begin using it.

Thank you @Sj2505 - I think I needed someone just to say it's not weird!!

Definitely not ☺️

Sj2505 · 09/08/2022 19:59

@dobby13 when I eject my static smiley the lines never look like a positive, I'm sure the digital ones are reliable as normal tests out of the holder.
I'd say you still have time.
The pink ones aren't as sensitive as the other ones (purple I think) so you'll only get a high (flashing) and a peak (static). So even if you got a flashing tomorrow and peak Thursday, you'd still have a 14 day luteal phase. Last month my luteal phase was only 11 days, so you definitely have time. Everyone is different, and for a lot of women even every cycle is different. Keep testing ☺️

I'm a little new to OPKs, so am hoping someone can give me some pointers. CD12, still no positive as of yet.

I've attached photos of my OPK from CD9 and today CD12 - I can tell it's getting darker, which must be a positive thing.

I'm just conscious that my cycle is typically 28 days - is this late to not have a flashy smiley yet, or do I need to chill out and just wait for it? 😂

@EdinburghGirl1 good luck for ovulation! Fingers crossed it keeps to routine.

I've been Googling how to encourage implantation and it seems just anything that gets blood circulating, so we've just been for a 2.5mile walk, I've been trying to drink more water but I don't really like it natural so I've put some lime wedges and ice in it and managed to drink quite a lot today and it said to keep warm and avoid stress.
Can't do any harm I guess, so that's going to be my focus for the next two weeks!

@Sj2505 that’s great that you are ovulating. The conceive plus must be working for you. Fingers crossed for you.
@MissDottie I am also on cycle 3 but ttc#2 that's lovely you have a holiday booked during tww and should take your mind off it and give you something to look forward to now.

@NatGee I think I generally get EWCM prior to ovulating but I'm sure everyone's a little different. I know BBT is great for tracking ovulation but I don't do it. I use CB OPK though and had EWCM the day of my peak. You would probably want to try BD a few days before ovulation as sperm can live up to 5 days. That’s great you are careful about food. I’ve never heard of seed cycling but I do have seeds anyway and knew pumpkin seeds were good for fertility so have been having them.

@LauraA31 31 wow that would be impressive to hold off telling him for 2 weeks. I would never manage that. That’s such a shame about his family. I’ve heard of others checking cervix but not really sure either.

I’m now CD 5 and looking forward to my fertile window starting. Feeling positive which is good. Will start OPK on Thursday as ovulated on CD11 last month so want to start early in case it happens again.

@polkadotdasies88 welcome. It’s always upsetting getting AF and it’s ok to have a good cry. Rationality goes out the window when ttc lol.

polkadotdasies88 · 09/08/2022 16:09

@Sj2505 Thank you so much, it really does help me knowing I'm not alone in all of this! ❤️
I'm hoping now I've got this initial disappointment out of the way I'll head into my next cycle a bit more relaxed. Or inevitably I'll just go completely the other way and obsess over everything 🤣 I'm trying to focus on the fact that I only stopped Cerazette back in June & so far my period has arrived on time and I ovulated (or at least I think I did!) Which are both good signs. But yet I'm sure I'll still find something to worry about!

NatGee · 09/08/2022 13:28

@Sj2505 ew 🤣
Thank you will let you know how i get on

Sj2505 · 09/08/2022 13:14

Me too 😆
But you'll be fascinated with how much it changes.

NatGee · 09/08/2022 13:05

Great idea but im so squirmish.... suppose i have to get over that. Will look up how to as well xx

Sj2505 · 09/08/2022 12:57

@polkadotdasies88 welcome lovely! Oh we've all been there. When I said to my OH this morning "it still might not work" he said "well why wouldn't it? You were ovulating at the right time" 😂 if only it was that simple and easy!
But have a good cry, get it all off your chest then dust yourself off for a new cycle! We'll all be here for you.

@LauraA31 well that's a good birthday either way haha. He's lucky to have you in his corner then 🥰
Checking cervix is quite simple, although the first month it's just learning what it usually feels like so its good to feel everyday so you can notice the changes. I was amazed at the difference once my fertile window was done last month! It's reliable for ovulation but not so much for pregnancy as I read so many differing stories last month

OP posts:
LauraA31 · 09/08/2022 10:46

@Sj2505 it will be so hard to not tell him for 2 weeks, and I will probably break before 😂
Fingers crossed this is our month! It would be a lovely way to tell him, he is such a good person and unfortunately his family aren’t the nicest, never make effort with him and he has gone birthdays before without a text or call from his parents! So in my mind i have allowed myself to get a little tiny bit excited that it would make his day special for once ha!
If AF arrives my next predicated ovulation day is the day before his birthday so either way he wins for the day 😂

I always read about people checking their cervix but I have zero idea how to do it! Might have to have a google! I feel that’s a good day to have an overnight stay, 9DPO is when i wobble and start testing haha! Hopefully that you can hold off 🙂

polkadotdasies88 · 09/08/2022 10:41

Hi, I'm coming over from the July page. TTC #1, AF just arrived today after my 1st cycle off Cerazette. I had positive ovulation tests back on CD14 so stupidly thought I might be in with a good chance of success.
I've had a huge cry this morning, I'm 34 and literally everyone around me is pregnant / just had a baby. I'm trying to be rational but my goodness it's hard!!

Sj2505 · 09/08/2022 10:19

@LauraA31 2 weeks after? Oh that will be difficult to not tell him for 2 weeks, but such a lovely way of telling him!!
6dpo means you can start looking out for implantation signs though 😊

I'm still having ovulation twinges, but my cervix was still SHOW this morning so I'm still in fertile window.
My OH is strangely excited this month haha. I think it's because I ovulated when I was supposed to and that never happens!
Can't believe I have another 9 days before I can even start thinking about testing haha, suddenly feels so far away.
We go away at 9dpo overnight to go to Chessington so I'm hoping I have the will power not to take tests with me and just test when we get back 😅
