Hey all!

I'm on several other threads that I'm keeping up with but some of them are a tad long now, so I thought I'd start a new one for people to join.

Ovulation day for me today (30.07.22) so TWW starts officially tomorrow. AF due on the 12th. I have tests in the house, but my goal this month is to keep my mind busy and avoid symptom spotting! I don't plan on testing if I can help it. Want to avoid the disappointment if I can.

We are TTC #1 and we are in cycle 4 now. I had a chemical mid June when we weren't officially TTC but when it happened we realised now was the time to actively try. We wanted it so badly.

So that's a little about me and I would love some company in a slightly smaller thread.

Much love xoxox

Sadly AF arrived for me yesterday. Good luck to everyone x

@eleveneleven11 yeah I'm surprised when I see people saying they 'forget' to track - I know it might not be for everyone and could definitely stress you out at times, but I feel like I'm cracking a code for my body and learning it's secrets. I wouldn't opk outside of ttc, I don't think, but I'd probably still bbt - doesn't take too much trouble!

I think I was worried that it was too early to track - in my head it was something you did once things weren't working, so I wish I'd started sooner. One of my few friends with babies said she did opk tracking because of irregular cycles, so it sort of reassured me that it's just what people can do it monitor things.
I don't have many people I can discuss it with though - one friend with a baby. I talk slightly to my mum (who took a terrifying 16 years to conceive me) and my best friends know but one definitely won't be having children and the other isn't really interested in them so there's not much to say about it!

eleveneleven11 · 17/08/2022 20:22

@TheCakeIsALie18 that is so nice, love that! good on her! xx

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 18:51

@eleveneleven11 I talk to my best friend about all the tracking and stuff and when she is ready to start TTC she is going to track. She has said that she knew nothing about her body until talking to me about it and is now interested to learn. Not only for TTC but also to keep a check out for anything that isn't normal. Catch things early, y'know. Spread the word ladies, get more people to start checking and tracking even if they're not TTC. ❤️❤️❤️ xxx

@Hannargh hello! our bodies are amazing, right?! and the way you can monitor everything at the moment to give us clues and help us conceive just blows my mind.
its so nice to speak to people who also enjoy tracking. i've not been very open with many friends or family about TTC but anyone i have talked about tracking ovulation, 'scheduling' DTD and bbt monitoring has rolled their eyes and told me to chill. it's SO annoying! it's usually people who have managed to get pregnant suuuuper quickly. i'd be much more stressed if i had no idea what was going on in there haha x

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 17:31

@Shleepymummy haha that's alright I don't mind answering. We didn't DTD on O because we were both knackered haha. We tried, but he couldn't. We didn't DTD on O this month either, day before and day after were our closest days. The way I look at it, is as long as there are swimmers up there waiting for the egg to emerge on the run up to O then all should be well haha xxx

Shleepymummy · 17/08/2022 17:20

@TheCakeIsALie18 thank you, I will temp track along side OPk so I know when ovulation is coming and can maybe confirm it afterwards! This is a really personal question 🤣but I can see you didn't have sex the day of O, is that because you had done it two days prior and so felt that was enough? My DH and I didn’t do it this month on day of O and I keep thinking that was the problem but perhaps not

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 16:39

@Shleepymummy not everyone dips before O. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Here is my chart from last month. You can see where my O was and what happened to my temp afterwards and my chart looks similar to the every month. But yes, after O your temp will stay up. My temp has always been my giveaway as to when AF is due as my temp drops the morning AF arrives. The only downside to temp is by the time you see the constant raised temp you've already missed O so I'd recommend CM checking as well ❤️ xxxx

@TheCakeIsALie18 aww thank you, that’s really helpful. So best to track everyday from cycle day 1, and then it dips before ovulation, then rises quite dramatically and then should stay up? Is that right?

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 15:02

@Shleepymummy I track in C. It doesn't really matter what you see elsewhere because your body will be different to everyone else. My before O temp is between 35.6 and 35.9 and after O it's between 36 and 36.6. As long as the temp is between 0.3 and 0.5 degrees higher than what's normal for you for 3 days you know you ovulated xxx

OP posts:
Shleepymummy · 17/08/2022 14:33

Can I ask if people track bbt in C or F? I know it doesn’t matter, but do people find one set of data easier in terms of what’s online

xttcbabyno1x · 17/08/2022 13:02

@Hannargh ah thank you so much lovely! Going to do my clear blue Friday/Saturday so hoping for a 3+ then ☺️

Just count down those days for ovulation, I have a good feeling for you this cycle ✨✨💕 xxx

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 11:01

@Hannargh Thank you ❤️ will post CB digital pics next week!

It may be a long wait till O but at least you'll be away for the weekend around then so an exciting time of DTD. Might make all the difference having a little bit of spice at that time. I hope it happens for you this month!

Our bodies really are amazing. When I first starting looking into natural family planning it was to avoid pregnancy in between the wedding 22nd December last year and our honeymoon 10th April haha. So was learning about how to not get pg lol. Every day my body amazes me haha xxx

Hannargh · 17/08/2022 10:47

Hi again everyone! Hope you're all keeping well. So good to see that line progression and proper symptoms @xttcbabyno1x and @TheCakeIsALie18 - can't wait to see that pic of number of weeks on your CB when you use it!

CD5 here. Had a bit of an emotional drama dip at the weekend - I'm normally pretty mellow but I was just feeling all the feelings for a day or so. Sometimes you've got to. And I've had horrendous sleep for a few days so am glad to be back to something more normal now.
Last few months I've ovulated CD20/21 so I've got a looong wait to go... planning a weekend away around then, though, so lots of good things to look forward to!

Totally get what you mean @eleveneleven11 about how good the bbt monitoring is but every day it's a reminder of 'got to make a baby'.
I'm doing bbt again and opks from CD15 or so this month again - I just like knowing what's going on and still feel pretty amazed that I can monitor my body so closely.

eleveneleven11 · 17/08/2022 10:18

@Shleepymummy glad to hear you're feeling better! but sorry to hear about your husband - fingers crossed it doesn't spread any further. nasty bugs!

this is my third cycle TTC but we didn't track much in the first as we were on honeymoon. i started temperature tracking last month. it's interesting, i quite like it! but like you say, a bit of a double-edge sword because it's another level of monitoring everything. for me it's a constant reminder every morning when i wake up and take my temp that we are trying for a baby. and whilst 95% of the time that makes me feel excited, there's always that 5% of the time when my temp starts dropping as AF approaches when the daily reminder doesn't feel as exciting haha xx

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 10:05

@eleveneleven11 haha if you do cave, don't beat yourself up lol. Especially if you're not finding it stressful. Excitement can be pretty intense when it's something you really want. Just go with the flow haha. Track when you feel like it, if you forget don't worry ❤️ xxx

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 10:03

@Shleepymummy I'm glad you're feeling better. Sorry your OH has it now 😪

Yeah resting is key at the moment with insomnia lol. I'm a power lifter and martial artist so luckily eating well is top of my agenda anyway haha.

Do you track on an app? I use flo and track all symptoms in there and it give a good bbt chart and tells you what day you ovulated based on temps that you track. It also give lots of daily insights and tips like Snapchat, insta, and FB stories. Lots of good things to read as well. I've learned so much over the last few months using it haha. I think it takes the stress out of trying. But that's just my opinion. I paid for the premium version which for a year, isn't very much at all. Xxx

eleveneleven11 · 17/08/2022 10:01

@TheCakeIsALie18 amazinnggggg! its getting real haha.

oh i totally agree i'm definitely super interested in following what my body is doing - it's fascinating. i think that's why i haven't found it stressful - i enjoy tracking everything and for me its a positive.

however it has been on my mind 24/7 and has felt intense. even though its more through excitement than anything else, it feels like a lot.

i say this now - as soon as ovulation is approaching watch me cave in and pick up my thermometer every morning again hahahaha.

thank you for all your hopefulnessssss! xx

Shleepymummy · 17/08/2022 09:55

Morning @eleveneleven11 yes all better thanks, slept all night and sickness bug has passed. Husband has it too now sadly so I’ve spent all morning cleaning and bleaching the house, don’t want my DD to get it.
I don’t track temp currently, just do OPK a few days before I think it’s coming and then have sex pretty much every day until ovulation tests stop being strong. So I never confirm ovulation with temp check- maybe I should start doing that? So tricky isn’t it, you want to give it best shot you can, but also want to try and enjoy it and just let what will be be. Is this your first cycle TTC? Can’t remember what you said before.

@TheCakeIsALie18 all better thanks, it was hell so I’m glad it’s over! Good news on the midwife apt. Hopefully your scan will give you some relief too. So hard not to worry, just try and focus that worry into eating well, resting etc

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 09:14

@eleveneleven11 Yep, trying to stay positive. Have just got off the phone to the MW and I'm booked in for my first 8 week appointment on 7th September. I should have just had an early scan by then too... 🤞🏻

I didn't find tracking all consuming. I was on the pill for 15 years so I replaced taking a pill every morning when I woke up with taking my temp every morning when I woke up and then I added in CM checks a couple times a day. I found a new interest on wanting to know what was going on with my body haha. You've gotta do what's right for you though so if you find it is taking over your life then yeah just ease up on yourself for next month. If you know roughly when you ovulate then just DTD every other day for 10 days or so in the middle of your cycle. If this isn't your month I really hope next month will be and we will be here waiting for the results even if the name of the chat doesn't match your TWW now haha xxx

@TheCakeIsALie18 yay! celebrate every little win. im sure your paranoia and anxiety will lessen every day that goes by so try and visualise that level of risk decreasing and little bean's strength increasing hour by hour!

i'm ok actually, thank you. i think i will feel disappointed for a while when AF comes (99.9% sure I'm out this month) but i'm ready for a new cycle. i'm wondering whether i should stop tracking so much in september. maybe just be aware of when i'm due to ovulate (my cycle is like clockwork so it's hard not to pinpoint!) but drop the temp measuring and follow everyone's really annoying advice to just 'relax' hahaha. i turn 30 next month and im going on a bucket list trip to iceland so i kind of just want to focus on that and whilst i wouldn't say I've been stressed by TTC and tracking, it's definitely been SO consuming - and this is only my third cycle trying!
xxx

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 08:31

Also, I had almost a full night sleep haha. Feel asleep about 2.30... woke up at 3am to pee then slept until 5, then 6, then 7. So this is the most awake I've felt in over a week.... give me until lunch time 😂

TheCakeIsALie18 · 17/08/2022 08:29

@xttcbabyno1x I'm alright thank you. Like I said, just apprehensive. Taking each day as it comes. I'll be a little more relaxed on the weekend if everything is still looking and feeling fine. Roll on 6 weeks 🤞🏻❤️

I'm refusing to buy any more tests haha. I've got about 8 easy@homes left, 1 FRER, and 1 CB digital. FRER for Saturday, digital for next Wednesday then I'm going to stop...hopefully 😂 xxx

@TheCakeIsALie18 I'm checking every wipe 6 times too so don't worry you're not on your own xx

I'm good thanks lovely ☺️ slept better last night, boobs are ACHING today keep getting little shooting pains through them! I just did a random clear blue one this morning as I didn't have any FRERs until later today! How are you doing ? Xx
