Congratulations @Narwhal88 !!!

Misty84 · 29/09/2023 13:20

And a huge congratulations and big hug that you now have your daughter @Narwhal88 ❤️

Misty84 · 29/09/2023 13:19

Aww thank you so much @Narwhal88 and yes that’s how far along I am, I think I will be the same as you, unable to believe it the whole way through. I absolutely agree that infertility has a lasting effect. It’s taken so frigging long to get here, and miscarrying late in the first trimester last time has made me even less able to trust that things will be ok. My 12 week scan is on Monday!!

I agree @Marvellouslymadmum there’s far more success stories and people who ‘get there in the end’ no matter how long it takes and what that looks like. You should definitely take hope from that.

Sending so much love to all, I still feel far more connected to those that are struggling than those who are/have not. Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 29/09/2023 11:50

@thislittlebird it is a long way to go but I don't mind it gives me a break away from the norm lol

@Narwhal88 congratulations! It's so nice to see people with success stories 😍

@Misty84 @thislittlebird how are you both feeling?

I love the success stories it makes me feel like it may actually happen for me at some point! There's far more success stories than those it never happens for so I'll take those odds!

@thislittlebird congratulations! Still check this thread every so often to see if there's any news. Got everything crossed things continue to go in the right direction for you.

@Misty84 congratulations to you as well, you must be 12 weeks tomorrow so hope your scan goes well whenever it is.

I still didn't believe it was real the whole way through. Still thought something was gonna happen even during labour. The anxiety after infertility never leaves. My little girl was born 20th August.

thislittlebird · 23/09/2023 09:47

@Marvellouslymadmum my in-laws went to Yorkshire for theirs, it’s a long old slog though lol

@CycleGirl20 it really does 😩

@Misty84 yeah I feel happy with my choice today. Symptoms feel like they’re still here and that’s reassuring, countdown now to the next two weeks passing without issue. That’s good, fingers crossed for the 12 weeks.

Hope everyone else here is ok!

Misty84 · 22/09/2023 11:26

@thislittlebird Your hcg is good so nothing to feel bad about! I’d do the same as you and just wait for the early scan now.
I’m 11 weeks tomorrow and cannot believe that I am still in the game! Continues to feel like I’m dreaming!

CycleGirl20 · 22/09/2023 08:38

@thislittlebird convince yourself it's bad? Your HCG is really good. As you say, it gives you really good odds. There are many internet rabbit holes for all sorts of pregnancy subjects. I went down many seeking reassurance and sometimes I got it, sometimes the opposite! I think infertility does that to you 😅.

Marvellouslymadmum · 22/09/2023 00:04

@thislittlebird makes sense, I've driven up to Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham areas for cars before, costs a couple of hundred to get there and back but worth it when saving over £1000! Never been as far as Scotland but if you're prepared to do it, it's even cheaper there! Hopefully you'll be able to organise something, we have a new Nissan quashqai well jan 2022 and that costs a fortune in petrol! Though the rest is cheap, we do a lot of miles though, only have one car at the moment and have done 36000 miles in it!

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 21/09/2023 23:57

@Marvellouslymadmum our car is already ULEZ compliant, and it’s from 2013 so it’s fine and if we got a second one it’s be newer anyway, but we wouldn’t need one in London. I’ve heard that before about travelling for a car, so we might need to travel when we get another car eventually. We barely drive here so petrol costs aren’t much and tax is £20 per year, only MoT and insurance and they’d double if we lived there.

Basically, we live in a cheap part of London and want to move to a less cheap part of Cornwall so it’s very similar price wise to here, but there’s a few bargains to be had. If we lived in a fancier part of London it would be very different but we can’t afford that. We’d have to borrow more to move there to a bigger place and we could take some of the capital out, yeah. We’re thinking about adding a bit on to the mortgage for the house stuff so could combine it.

Marvellouslymadmum · 21/09/2023 23:43

@thislittlebird those are definitely good numbers so I would try not to worry for now!

Yes I thought houses were still quite a bit more expensive in London than even Cornwall so was thinking maybe you could get a similar mortgage, but put maybe a little less of your capital back in to give you a bit of leeway money whilst you're on maternity! Cars are cheaper to buy up north or somewhat near me in East Sussex and at least you won't need to buy ulez compliant ones! Hopefully you'll be able to organise it all some way

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 21/09/2023 23:36

@Marvellouslymadmum obviously I went down high HCG rabbit holes on Google. I’m cautiously optimistic. A long way to go but hopefully we can get further this time.

what do you mean take out? Savings? Tbh cornwall would be more expensive for us. Bigger house = bigger mortgage probably (we want to move to a nice part and it’s not cheap), higher council tax, probably two cars because no decent transport and potentially lower salaries. So in that sense it makes me nervous. We won’t do it yet anyway, I think we’ll renovate our bathroom here and redecorate a couple of bedrooms. I think we will probably have to add some money to the mortgage for that anyway, we’re still trying to save up again from the ivf expenditure.

thislittlebird · 21/09/2023 22:39

@CycleGirl20 I've managed to convince myself it's bad now lolol. I cancelled the extra beta and will try to tough it out for the week 5 and 6 milestones pre-scan.

@Lauralozzle Yeah, I was thinking you got some nice weather! I think my half Cornish embryo must have enjoyed a trip to the beach.

Marvellouslymadmum · 21/09/2023 22:24

@thislittlebird wow that's way more than doubled! Definitely a great sign for you, could be single or twins 🤷🏼‍♀️ at least there would be a sibling without having to go through it all again and from my experience it's not much different having one or two little ones, mine weren't twins but are just over a year apart. Honestly so hopeful for you!
Do you think if you move from London to Cornwall you may have a bit you can take out to bump up your wages for the year you're on maternity? Just an option as I know it's more expensive to live in London.

OP posts:
Lauralozzle · 21/09/2023 20:59

@thislittlebird The weather was really good during the week. It rained over the weekend though. It was lovely though! Cornwall is lovely, great you could go after your transfer!

Those HCG numbers look promising!!

CycleGirl20 · 21/09/2023 20:35

@thislittlebird I found the baby updates really helpful. Where they tell you the baby is the size of a seed or so on. At least it's something else to think about and a way of going week to week. Your high HCG is a really good sign though so you have that too!

thislittlebird · 21/09/2023 20:23

@CycleGirl20 yeah, if we get that far I will too. I just cancelled it and now I’m panicking I shouldn’t have. I guess it won’t tell me much and I’ve got two weeks until the scan to get through.

CycleGirl20 · 21/09/2023 19:26

@thislittlebird I only had one beta, then a scan around 6 weeks. I took all the opportunities I got though to test and do scans

thislittlebird · 21/09/2023 18:45

@CycleGirl20 I think I'd be stressed lol. Looking at betabase, I'm in the fourth most common range for singles and the fourth most common for twins, so that doesn't help. Fingers crossed it's all ok and nothing crazy going on, but I think we'd be a little surprised!

http://www.betabase.info/chart/betaByDay/18/Single

http://www.betabase.info/chart/betaByDay/18/Twins

Scan is in 2 weeks, so I want to get to 5 weeks on Sunday. I might cancel the third beta, not sure what to do. How many did you do @CycleGirl20?

CycleGirl20 · 21/09/2023 18:14

@thislittlebird those are excellent numbers and more than doubling. As @Marvellouslymadmum said, have you thought about how you'd feel if it was twins?

thislittlebird · 21/09/2023 16:43

@Misty84 I think you're right, just hard to think about getting by on one salary for a year. Now I just need the job process to ask me to interview, but I think they have to advertise it for a few weeks first.

If I get that far, I might be on maternity allowance, not even statutory lol. Not sure if that's worse!

So my second HCG test is back:
19/9 11 dp5dt: 667
21/9 13 dp5dt: 2281

I've asked for another one on Saturday to triple check it's doubling, but this is a good start.

Misty84 · 20/09/2023 12:56

@thislittlebird I think you should take the remote option so you can move to Cornwall- you’ve wanted to move pretty much as long as I’ve known you on these threads! It’s a great opportunity.

Yes I’m working 3 days a week during term time and full time during school holidays. I’m self employed and will get absolutely shite maternity pay- just the statutory rate.

I wasn’t really enjoying the double nap yesterday, it was CRAZY having no energy or strength whatsoever. Actually feel better being at work today.

As for your symptoms: you know your body better than anyone and you have felt a clear difference between your failed transfers and your successful ones.

Marvellouslymadmum · 20/09/2023 11:00

@thislittlebird definitely! I don't even know where my Christmas decorations are 😂😂

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 20/09/2023 10:56

@Marvellouslymadmum yeah before Christmas would be good!

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/09/2023 21:21

@thislittlebird we aren't exactly sure yet, it depends on a number of factors but we are hoping to be all sorted before Christmas! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
