@thislittlebird transfer was 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Clinic have said stop the progesterone and start weaning off the steroids. No follow up booked yet, just give them a call when I’m ready.

thislittlebird · 03/08/2022 09:12

@Sunbird24 what dpt are you now? Spotting started at 9dpt for me, another thing to worry about next time. They told me to keep taking meds but I don’t see the point when the tests are negative and it’s clearly AF.

I’ve got my follow up consultation scheduled for august 23rd, and I’m doing a microbiome test this month too.

Sunbird24 · 03/08/2022 08:17

Well no need to test on OTD, started spotting yesterday afternoon and AF arrived full force this morning.

kerrym87 · 02/08/2022 13:33

@ShirleyValentineManc yoga sorts all sorts! However, you may be fine or like me (I'm always different!) I get bloating and ovary pain pain by day 7 of stims I can't do my yoga as I can't bend 🤣 i get increases fatigue and some ibs flare up but mood swings, bloating, nausea for me come more with the progesterone. Some people don't have much in way of symptoms and sail through. Egg collection is a little sore for some and afterwards, others no problem 🤷‍♀️

ShirleyValentineManc · 02/08/2022 13:11

Day 4 of injections. Had period like pain yesterday, 30min yoga sorted me right out!
No bruising, injection pain 2/10 and no emotional rollercoaster. Am I just lucky or will it come later?

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/08/2022 11:43

@thislittlebird you definitely need a good plan, if I were you I'd make a nuisance of myself until they listen and offer more help!

@Sunbird24 I am sorry it doesn't seem to have worked for you this time 😔

Hi and welcome @MammyandAva I'm afraid I don't have any advice on the iui or ivf as I've not been through them yet but there are lovely ladies here that have who I'm sure can help

@MammyandAva I have pcos however 2 failed ivf and no children. Generally the clinic suggests what will work best, is it nhs? Thye don't tend to suggest stuff that won't work, have they said why natural conception not working eg sperm quality/pcos? With pcos the hormone imbalance can get worse over time and it success can depend on if you ovulate and the quality of eggs. For example I ovulate relatively regularly but my eggs don't mature and release properly. My husband has low volume/count but everything else now normal with him

Thank you for your reply. It's a private clinic and they have said my two options are IUI and IVF Lite.

I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread! Any advice/guidance is greatly appreciated

I'm 30 and have a daughter (7) conceived naturally

I have been diagnosed with PCOS and have a high follicle count

The fertility clinic (CRGW) have recommended IUI or IVF Lite but I am unsure what to go with. The success rates with IUI worry me and although IVF has a greater expense, is it worth going for this first as last to save "wasting" money?

Any experiences/advice on the success rates for first time IVF with PCOS please?

thislittlebird · 29/07/2022 18:36

@Sunbird24 I'm sorry to hear your test is still white, you know where we are if you want to vent x

@ShirleyValentineManc not much in the way of well being really, other than icing injection sites helped me not bruise, and there's an app called Mindful IVF that you might find helpful.

ShirleyValentineManc · 28/07/2022 19:58

Starting injections on Sat/Sun, what is your advice for me please? General well-being things...TIA

Sunbird24 · 28/07/2022 17:50

Tests still stark white over here and AF is due in 4/5 days. Losing hope.

thislittlebird · 28/07/2022 15:44

@CycleGirl20 yeah we've ummed and ahhed about what package or not to get after the nhs funded round and I think now with two failures, possibly another failed double transfer to come, we can say the 12k package makes more sense. The other option is refund package, you pay them 19k for 3 cycles and you get half back if you have no baby at the end, but obviously with meds that takes it to about 25k, which seems a lot. But you have to have medical tests for that one and they might say no to us with our issues.

CycleGirl20 · 28/07/2022 15:33

That makes sense @thislittlebird. I was unsure about what to do package wise. In the end we thought better just to try it one time and see what happens, then look at packages. It did end up costing us more than anticipated. I think the clinic quoted €4500 but then the medication stacked up or something, even though I needed less medication than the average person due to high amh/short protocol. It's all rather expensive but then a friend did her IVF in the US and she said it cost $35,000, so there is that. It's hard to figure out the optimum plan, but sounds like you're well prepared.

thislittlebird · 28/07/2022 15:04

Yeah found it further down, £1500 per transfer. If I get even 2 x embryos that’s £5000, £7000 with meds. £6500 for three embryos and so on. That’s why I think the package makes sense. It’s fixed at about £6k per cycle.

thislittlebird · 28/07/2022 15:02

I just checked and BPAS say £3500 including embryo transfer. Singular. I am assuming that means one transfer only, but I could be wrong.

thislittlebird · 28/07/2022 14:59

@CycleGirl20 yeah it’s a package. Last time I looking into it was 11-12k for two rounds of icsi, including unlimited transfers, which is the part that potentially makes it worthwhile for me since I likely won’t get enough embryos to justify PGA. Meds 2k on top of the package price. Then more meds for round two but I’m not worrying about those yet. BPAS do it cheaper here, as do kings and guys, maybe £3k for the round of ICSI but you’ll then have to do the transfers on top at £1-2k per attempt.

CycleGirl20 · 28/07/2022 14:54

@thislittlebird £14k sounds very expensive. Is that a package deal? It cost us €6000 Inc meds and that was in Germany, which isn't known for being cheap. I was looking at somewhere in Copenhagen. Apparently a lot of people in Denmark do IVF and so it's well researched, affordable and they have good success rates.

thislittlebird · 28/07/2022 14:01

@kerrym87 yeah, it’s hard to get your head around it ever working once it’s failed.

I’ve ordered an expensive microbiome test, will see what that comes back with. Can’t do much more, just don’t have the money and we’ll be handing over £14k for private in the autumn probably.

We’ll transfer two next time and I’ll ask the consultant for a plan around my progesterone. I’m pretty annoyed though, upset too, just hard to envision a future with a kid.

@Sunbird24 hope you’re ok x

kerrym87 · 28/07/2022 09:57

@thislittlebird really feel for you, I go through swings and dips of not ready to stop yet and I don't know how many times I can go through the heartbreak. One day and one step at a time, it won't always feel so devastating and overwhelming, we're here to offload to x

thislittlebird · 27/07/2022 19:10

@CycleGirl20 i have to wait until Thursday’s test 🙄🙄🙄. It’s a funded cycle so there’s nothing to get back, have to just ask the consultant to do more next time. Last chance saloon, and then I’m into private. We’ll be spending all our savings on this and it may never work.

@Marvellouslymadmum I’m going to have to raise it with the consultant. I want a plan that involves testing my regularly and not fobbing me off. I’m feeling awful tbh. I don’t know how many times I can do this. IVF that works is one thing, IVF that fails is something completely different. It’s devastating.

@ShirleyValentineManc thanks. Feel like I need to take a break but I’m already looking into what tests I need for my stupid, failing body.

ShirleyValentineManc · 27/07/2022 16:40

@thislittlebird my heart dropped when you said it was one line. We're here for you x

Marvellouslymadmum · 27/07/2022 09:46

@thislittlebird I'm disappointed and annoyed for you! You definitely need to give them what for about this progesterone issue, there must be a way of investigating or counteracting it!! I do hope you're feeling a bit better today

@Sunbird24 how you holding out? It seems to me like ivf makes the tww feel like 10x the normal emotions! One because your told you should have more chance and two because of all the hormones they've injected you with!

OP posts:
CycleGirl20 · 27/07/2022 09:38

@thislittlebird it sounds like your clinic have some poor excuses for not checking things properly. No wonder you're upset with that on top of everything else. Can you kick up a fuss about it to get them to fast-track anything or agree to better testing or a discount if you're paying?

thislittlebird · 26/07/2022 18:20

@CycleGirl20 yeah, two per day. They said I need to increase to three until OTD 🤪. Talk about close the stable door after the horse has bolted. I asked all week for a test and was told no, the system is down. I could cry my eyes out, I already have, but there’s nothing I can do now. Maybe that’s not even the issue. The idea of going through more tests makes me feel sick.
