OMG, it just got worse and worse. The op caused bad constipation, so on top of the OHSS and high estrogen, I was in real danger. I'm on 8 different meds to reverse all the issues.
I was completely fine for the first 10 days and then bam, worst 5 days of my life.
Out of hospital.
26 embryos on ice.
Now waiting on ovaries to stop kissing and get back to their places. Painkillers and bed rest while they do so.
@Sunbird24 how are frozen cycles?

Sunbird24 · 15/08/2022 16:47

@ShirleyValentineManc huge haul! How are you feeling?

Ive booked my next review appointment with the consultant to discuss my final transfer, it’s not for 3 weeks so the actual transfer won’t be until October.

ShirleyValentineManc · 13/08/2022 08:03

Well I had my egg retrieval yesterday, 47!
And I have kissing ovaries (sounds sweet😭) with an inch of internal fluid.
As you can understand, with that and the number of puncture of walls, Doctor got me to stay in over night.
High as a kite on pain relief.
@kerrym87 you know what, you're right. Some girls on here would love to be in my situation so I'm trying to see the positive side of this!
For anyone reading this post please take my advice and speak up if your IVF treatment is giving you pain. Don't allow any of the medical staff to fob you off with "IVF gives you bloating". You know your body better than anyone.
I hope everyone else is ok and has a good weekend.
Off to eat my hospital coffee and toast with delight!

kerrym87 · 12/08/2022 08:34

@ShirleyValentineManc sometimes it happens that there's lots of small follicles but not growing very well hence extra days/doses given as need to be above certain size however there's tiny follicles not always able to be seen that may have suddenly joined the party - I was warned it may happen with pcos but its hard to know how body will respond. Ohhs can be very severe and result in hospitalisation and worst case high dependency care and can get worse after transfer so although it's disappointing, it may mean you only ever have to do one retrieval. Alot of people don't get frosties. I understand your feelings, totally valid and any delay seems awful x

Sunbird24 · 11/08/2022 17:46

@ShirleyValentineManc yep, 38 would still have been lots, the rest seem a bit unnecessary! But hopefully you’ll get lots fertilised and growing to day 5, so at least you’ll never have to go through this again.

ShirleyValentineManc · 11/08/2022 17:00

@Sunbird24 thanks for the advice, pint of water on the go..... The OHSS has caused constipation but that's subsided.
It's day one of no menopaur and estro decreasing meds. This morning was not good but after an afternoon sleep, the bloating seems to be reduced.
Pretty pissed that MRI loaded me with two extra days of injections rather than just let the originally found 38 follicles grow. To create a situation of 62 follicles (I think that's created OHSS) has put my safety on the line

Sunbird24 · 11/08/2022 10:12

@ShirleyValentineManc its good that they’re still doing the collection - make sure you drink lots of water or ideally sports drinks and there are some suggestions that salty snacks or a high-protein diet can help.

ShirleyValentineManc · 11/08/2022 09:14

It's confirmed, I have OHSS. My ovaries are 3 times the size they normally are. Very uncomfortable.
The egg retrieval op going ahead Friday.
Thanks @Sunbird24

Sunbird24 · 10/08/2022 16:22

@ShirleyValentineManc thats an amazing number, sounds like they’re concerned about the possibility of OHSS? Freezing them all will give your body a chance to recover and rebalance before your transfer, fingers crossed for you

MIW01 · 10/08/2022 12:56

Thank you @becarefuloutthere I hope things are going well for you. I'm 5+5 today. Got my 1st appointment with diabetes midwife on Monday. I am over the moon and I am so excited I don't have the words.

Am sending wishes upon wishes that everyone gets the result they seek sooner rather than later!

ShirleyValentineManc · 10/08/2022 12:44

Hi all. Second scan has shown 62 follicles so doctors taking about freezing all embryos and doing a frozen cycle? Any experience of that here? Really not happy about a possible 2 month delay!

becarefuloutthere · 10/08/2022 10:30

I checked the old thread and saw there was a new one and saw @MIW01 wonderful news!! Congratulations 🥳 you must be over the moon thrilled! Such a journey, well done for staying on it.

Sorry to hear that not everyone is there yet, fingers crossed it'll happen soon!! 🤞🏾

MIW01 · 09/08/2022 15:31

Thank you @ShirleyValentineManc I am keeping everything crossed. Went through it 3 times myself so I really empathise

ShirleyValentineManc · 08/08/2022 14:59

Great news @MIW01
Today, I went for my day 10 scan of my 1st IVF cycle.
I have 38 follicles. But none are big enough just yet. So another 48 hours of injections and egg retrieval on Friday (hopefully!).
I was a little disappointed to hear that none were big enough BUT I'm usually a 32 day cycle so a little slow to mature anyway, and I've just decided that's what's going on here, they just need a few more days.
The doctors think I'll have 8 follicles ready for Friday.
It'll happen exactly how it's supposed to!
How is everyone else right now?

MIW01 · 06/08/2022 18:33

I think that and my fiancée had his varicocele repair and treatment with antibiotics so we've both been tackled as it were! Very fortunate. 5 weeks atm.

Marvellouslymadmum · 06/08/2022 18:04

@MIW01 you must be absolutely over the moon! There's so many cases of people going for ivf then it happens, it does make you wonder if it kind of resets everything!

Sunbird24 · 06/08/2022 17:49

@MIW01 you’re going to be a unicorn instead of a donkey… 🤞

MIW01 · 06/08/2022 17:08

@Marvellouslymadmum this was au naturelle! It was our 1st Natural cycle following our 3rd failed round of IVF and the end of our NHS funding. So we were in a really dark place amd just kind of gave up all hope. I then had spotting 5 days late that only lasted a few hours and thought I might as well test, fully expecting it to be blank amd the start of my menopause or some other nonsense and my 1st ever BFP greeted me instead! I can not describe this feeling!

Marvellouslymadmum · 06/08/2022 16:37

@Sunbird24 so sorry it hasn't worked for you this time

@Hopeful1992 hi and welcome, I don't have much advice I'm afraid but hopefully they'll sort something for you

@MIW01 omg I'm beyond happy for you!! Was this another ivf round or natural? I'm so happy one of the long term donkeys has a bfp! Congratulations and everything crossed for you

MIW01 · 06/08/2022 11:02

@thislittlebird and @Sunbird24 my heart breaks for you, I am so, so sorry, there really are no words. You have all my empathy and thinking of you through these difficult times. I hope you can make plans for moving forwards. @thislittlebird it sounds like this clinic need a kick up the arse!

Hopeful1992 · 03/08/2022 21:45

Hope it’s ok if I jump on this thread 😊 30 ttc our first, I have PCOS and nightmare periods. They go missing for months and then I’m now on week 4 of my period!!
Couple of weeks ago saw private Gynae who has prescribed me metformin to start and asked my gp to send me for another ultrasound. Mentioned the prolonged bleeding last week and he suggested tranexamic acid which has slowed it down loads but there are still bits coming through. He said next option would be the pill for two months to try and regulate and then more than likely move onto covid - has anyone else done this?

thislittlebird · 03/08/2022 15:26

@99pctpractice yeah, i think so. I'm keen to move to private in 2022 and realistically it's going to be a November EC if we have a September failure. December will be unlikely because of Christmas closures.

Part of me wants to do more tests first but I can't see me wanting to delay. I think if this last, double transfer fails I'll put the house up for sale. I need to move on, I'm so tired. I won't stop IVF, but I need to change something in my life.

99pctpractice · 03/08/2022 15:21

@Sunbird24 I'm so sorry, I really hoped you'd be lucky this time. Hope you're not feeling too blue, sending hugs!

@thislittlebird that's great that your follow up consultation is lined up and at least you don't have too long to wait. Do you think you'd try for the next transfer in sept?
