A ‘no testing until period is late’ thread?

after falsely getting my hopes up with an evap last cycle, I’m determined to wait until I miss my period this time and (hopefully) get a good strong BFP rather than spending days analysing squinters!

would anyone like to join me? 🤞🏻 🍀

@daydreamingnightowl ive never temped, there seems to be way too much room for that kind of error if you’re often up in the night which I am (medical condition). Have you been using opks?

CD13 here and I’m fairly certain ovulation happened yesterday/today. Planning to persuade DH to dtd one last time tonight although in all fairness he doesn’t take an awful lot of persuading!

my testing date is 6th August - due AF on the 4th but want to wait for it to be ‘properly’ late and the 6th is a Saturday, which feels better for some reason. Please pop in your testing date if you have one so we can keep our eyes on the prize! 📆

Hi MamaS! Welcome to this thread full of willpower and hopefully strong BFPs in a few weeks! ✨

i would count your first day of ‘full flow’ as CD1. I would start taking the opks as soon as it’s finished, just to get a really complete idea of your cycle. I use second morning wee, a 2 hour or so hold seems to produce good results for me. Not sure if you’re aware but you can buy them really cheap off Amazon? Like £10 for 50 or so. I’ve found them to be every bit as reliable as the shop bought ones.

good luck and keep us posted 🤞🏻

Hello, I definitely want to join this thread! I've had a very strange cycle so far but because of miscarriage a couple of cycles ago I have a box if cheapie tests in (which I've never done before) but it makes it too easy to test!
AF is currently here, but I had about 4 days of brown spotting before AF arrived properly so I wasn't sure which day to class as CD1 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm going with today as CD6, but AF has been a bit odd and just very consistent, didn't seem to want to slow down but fingers crossed today it is. I've never done OPK before but bought a couple of boxes of boots own so gonna try that this cycle to confirm ovulation. When should I start?
Sorry for long post!!

daydreamingnightowl · 20/07/2022 13:19

Argh this bbt measuring was much easier when ttc the 1st time. Now I'm up at random times in the night especially with the heat to settle baby and then last night i fell asleep whilst measuring and the beeping of the thermometer woke me up and I had my mouth open so temp was really low.

I really don't have a good idea of when I ovulated but would guess it was CD16 as temp first rose CD17 but I'm not convinced how accurate I've been.

How's everyone else doing?

MarmaRell78 · 19/07/2022 19:55

@Wouldloveanother I'm sure I'm short this month too! Pretty sure I ov'd much earlier than usual and have been spotting for the last 10 days 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Wouldloveanother · 19/07/2022 17:56

I’m usually 26-27 days so was unusual for me as well. I’ve also seen a few other posters have oddly short cycles last month - something in the water maybe?!

OP posts:
Nichelette · 19/07/2022 11:11

@Wouldloveanother I'm usually a bog standard 28 days, occasionally 27, but 25 was very early for me (and disappointing 😂). I've stuck my dates into Premom & Flo. Premom thinks I ovulated yesterday and Flo thinks it was Saturday. My gut thinks Premom is more accurate again. Tempted to attempt tonight based on CM in case it's later but not sure I can deal with the heat. Will probably test on 3rd/4th August if no AF.

Wouldloveanother · 19/07/2022 07:39

It was 25 days - I always have a 15 day luteal phase, without fail, with a shorter follicular phase. She’s 3 😊 wish i had started trying when she was 18 months or so but wasn’t possible for various reasons!

OP posts:
daydreamingnightowl · 19/07/2022 07:23

Cycle is usually 28 days so I have a slightly shorter luteal phase, but it was the same with my first pregnancy and didn't seem to cause any issues so fingers crossed for this time too!

How long was your complete cycle after ovulating on day 9?

To add to the list, I'll be testing from 29th if no sign of af!

How old is your first? Mine is just coming up to 15 months xx

@Wouldloveanother I'm CD12 so hope to O sometime in the next week or so :)

Let us know how you get on!
does everyone want to pop their testing dates in so I can keep track of us? 😊

CD 14 here. Haven't used ovulation strips but I might try next month if no joy. Not really sure what happened last month as I'm usually pretty regular but ended up with a 25 day cycle. Wonder if we were too late but (sorry TMI) thought got the right time because of how mucus was. Oh well.

How many days is your cycle normally? I had a weird short cycle last month 🧐 with bizarrely early ovulation (CD9). Odd!

Hi daydreaming! We’re in similar positions - both ttc number 2, both on cycle 2! I think I’m ovulating today/tomorrow (ran out of opks and new ones won’t arrive on time) so period due 3rd August. So testing day would be the 4th if it hasn’t shown up by then 🤞🏻
lets hope this thread gets lucky!

Please can I join! We're ttc #2 and I cannot do another month of poas from 7dpo....!

I measure bbt and haven't had ovulation confirmed yet. I'm CD19 and always ovulated on CD16 before my 1st. Have only been off the pill two cycles so not sure how things have settled yet but thinking it will be CD16 again as temp rose the day after, making me 3DPO!

Will anyone else bet testing around the 29th?

I'll join. I'm determined not to early test this month :) Fortunately we're pretty busy in the next few weeks so that should distract me. Good luck to everyone here!

Welcome bird. Where are you in your cycle, are you in the 2ww now..?

@Wouldloveanother I've tried the Superdrug own brand. That was the test I used that showed my first ever faint positive!!

Wow what a great month Dreaming! Things really do come in 3s!

well CD11 here, pretty sure it’s my surge today but run out of opks! Will probably have a mooch down to the shops in a moment to get some - has anyone used Superdrug own brand?

@Wouldloveanother yes I told him friday! Think he's a bit shocked it happened on month 2 of trying 😅 we move in a couple of weeks and he got a promotion Friday too so we've definitely got our 3 good things 👍

Wouldloveanother · 17/07/2022 08:28

That’s great news, Dreaming! Means it looks like a good sticky little bean! Have you told your hubby/partner?

How is everyone getting on? Anybody due to test any time soon? I did a digital yesterday and was expecting 1-2 but got 2-3! I need to stop testing I think 😅

Wouldloveanother · 16/07/2022 22:16

how are we all doing this evening?
hope you’re all enjoying the lovely sunny weather and not thinking too much about ttc!
me, ive still not had a positive OPK yet, which I’m pleased about - I was worried I was going to ovulate too early again like last month, but I’m over the 10 day mark now so can breathe and focus on the next bit!
we dtd last night, I used the fertilily afterwards which went ok 👍🏻 If I have any luck with it I will definitely be letting you know! Are any of you SMEP-ing?

Nichelette · 14/07/2022 15:14

@Mulner88 Thank you! Sounds like a plan 😆

Mulner88 · 14/07/2022 14:57

@Nichelette thank you. That's really reassuring! And I hope you get your BFP with your second really soon ☺️

Last time when I got pregnant I was on holiday for a week during my TWW and didn't even think twice about it until I tested the day after I got home and it was a BFP. Maybe I can convince my DH to go on a lovely holiday and time it that way also 😂
