A ‘no testing until period is late’ thread?

after falsely getting my hopes up with an evap last cycle, I’m determined to wait until I miss my period this time and (hopefully) get a good strong BFP rather than spending days analysing squinters!

would anyone like to join me? 🤞🏻 🍀

@Nichelette Thank you!

You got this... fingers crossed for you! my symptoms (if any) will start Sunday Monday... so woo!

Nichelette · 26/07/2022 13:08

@H1994 Welcome!

Am symptom spotting now despite being unconvinced. Have had lower back ache for 3 days and I'm getting grumpy at almost everything when I'm usually pretty relaxed. Due Sunday/Monday time so not too long to go!

H1994 · 26/07/2022 11:16

Hey! Sorry to jump on this late, but I'm trying to do the same thing... but I'm 2dpo so have ages and need to keep distracted haha!

I think the blue tests are quite notorious for false positives. I’m sticking to first response.

FRER is really good but I find it tempts me to test early, because I know they’re very sensitive. I’ve also seen so many negative FRERs now, and they’re so expensive, that I’ve got a bit of a grudge against them (lol). I’ve figured if we’re waiting for missed period then Boots or Superdrug tests should give a clear result, and cheaper!

@Wouldloveanother thank you, I've had another lady say those tests are good. Will probably order some once I've started with the boots ones. Even now I'm still not pushing myself to use them though, I like the idea of just DTD when we feel like it and not stress about when ovulation occurs, but of course, in reality the stress arrives when you don't know if you ovulated when you thought you did and did we DTD the enough etc etc. We really do try to keep as casual as possible!

@Wouldloveanother Thank you for the welcome! 🙂

Last month we got a faint line on a clearblue, we got two lines in two days and then nothing. I got so exited and then AF arrived days later, looking back they could have been evap lines, but the disappointment was awful!
I am the same, I would worry that a faint positive wouldn’t be enough (after the first month) so think it’s best to wait this time haha, plus the money spent is so much to waste!

The last two months i have ovulated on CD12, showing this month on the app to ovulate CD12 too. How about you?x

Wouldloveanother · 25/07/2022 07:43

Welcome @LauraA31 !

Oh I so get you about the disappointment and upset of early tests 😒 I got a very faint line last month which just spurred me on to buy more tests, I think I spent around £25! It cannot go on! I also know a faint positive at 9dpo wouldn’t actually be a proper ‘Yay, BFP!’ moment - I would be really anxious until I’d missed my period and got a stronger line.

i also have a 26 day cycle, which day do you normally ovulate can I ask?

@Donutworryaboutit I'm the same, my temps rise just above the cover line but not significantly like some charts I've seen. I have wondered what it means too. If it's stressing you then might be better to stop temping after O

Would like to join! I’m due my period a week today. Really hoping not to test early. No 2 for me … have a 19 month old

Welcome aboard! Post whenever you get that pesky urge to test early! Here’s hoping you get our first BFP! ✨

Evening 😊 CD10 for me, I expect ovulation to happen in around 4 days time but I'm gonna try OPK for the first time as my cycles have been all over the place after miscarriage. DH is off this week so it may help with actually having energy to DTD! Only hurdle is our DD who doesn't like going to bed at the moment 😂

I find it definitely helps! We can just about summon up the energy to DTD every other day but like to see when I’m ovulating to get that extra couple of ‘deeds’ in there! Haha! If it helps I find the easy@home tests to be the best (I’ve tried a few)

Hello all! Hoping to join in on this thread..
I am CD2, cycle 3, TTC #1!

The last two cycles i have tested from 8DPO and all it has done is upset me and dishearten me with BFN’s, this cycle im hoping to hold off testing until AF hasn’t arrived!

I have 25/26 day cycles and showing on premom to be ovulating next Thursday.
I ovulated earlier than expected last month so this might be the case again, i am tracking ovulation with Premom ovulation tests and the clearblue ovulation tests.
I have ordered preseed for this month and fingers crossed we get our BFP this month!

Donutworryaboutit · 25/07/2022 07:14

Right… considering just giving up on temping after confirmed ovulation. It’s stressing me out. My temps never seem to rise much after O like other charts I’ve seen 😢 it’s making me wonder if something is wrong… anyone else not temp after confirmed O?

pic of prev 2 cycles and current cycle

I’ve never temped - I use opks and I can see it becoming another obsession for me 🤦🏼‍♀️

for what it’s worth I’m stopping testing after ovulation on opks - I was stressing myself out about ‘second surges’ and the fact some women get positive opks before their BFP, etc.

ive come to the conclusion none of it is an EXACT science, as long as we do what we can to get the sperm to meet the egg then we’ve done our bit!

@Wouldloveanother mine is 29 days this month - normally 28 days so my AF is due on Friday 5th… I just have a rubbish feeling about this time around. My boyfriend is away as well so it’s hard to stay distracted

Nichelette · 24/07/2022 17:37

@Coco2021 that and a huge camembert 😂

@daydreamingnightowl Next Sunday. Fully expecting it at the moment!

@Wouldloveanother I ended up with pre eclampsia last time, but fortunately it was late onset so I was induced the day before my due date. Babies are usually late (and big 😅) in my family so fully expected him to go all the way before that. I don't think I'd be going beyond 40 if baby were big because I had a grade 3 last time and obviously scar tissue is less stretchy.

Coco2021 · 24/07/2022 16:32

@Wouldloveanother to be honest I don't ever notice ewcm either.. I notice a bit of a difference between watery and creamy but other than that I just don't think I'm a huge producer 😂. But as I say, I used Conceive Plus last time and was pregnant so I do believe it helps. I've also read really good reviews about preseed. Fingers crossed for us 🤞🤞😍

Wouldloveanother · 24/07/2022 15:59

@Coco2021 ive just started using preseed, TMI but I don’t seem to produce anything like the CM that I did before I had DD - it’s like it’s just dried up down there 😱 so popped a dollop in before DTD and then afterwards on the fertilily to make inserting it a bit more comfortable. Let’s hope it’s a magic potion for us both!

@Nichelette that would be the best birthday present ever! I have to admit I check the due date calendar as well 😉 I just like to see what my due date would be if I conceived! My babies will always be induced at 38 weeks for various reasons so I have to lop a couple of weeks off, so could potentially still be late March.

@Donutworryaboutit Glad you found us, and to have a cycle day buddy to cycle with 🚲
i was going to test on 3rd (period due date) because I had a drinks thing on. But I’m not going now, so I’m going to try really hard to hold out until Saturday 6th - it’s very, very rare for me to have a 30 day cycle (haven’t had one for well over a year) so if I get to that point without a period, I know I’ll be in with a good shot. Or better than 8dpo anyway!

please let this thread be lucky and give us spring babies! 🐣 🍀 ✨ 🧚

@Wouldloveanother don’t worry I have found you! Ignore my comment on prev thread

Coco2021 · 24/07/2022 14:53

@daydreamingnightowl you're doing the right thing, go by your body's signals, even if your temps are slightly off!

I actually forgot that I had the conceive plus lubricant that I used last time (when I got bfp last year), so have used it twice again this time round. Who knows if it actually worked before or was a coincidence, but it can't hurt! ✨xo

daydreamingnightowl · 24/07/2022 14:49

@Coco2021 That's a good sign - I did have ewcm and then ovulation pain the next day this cycle, but my temps didn't rise for another good few days so I presumed it hadn't happened. I just think I have not had accurate temps this month.

Today I cannot keep my eyes open, so so tired. already had two naps!

@Nichelette is af due next Sunday or today? I'm CD25 and would have a guess that I am 10/11dpo? It's not crazy to look at due dates, I've done the same thing 😂

Coco2021 · 24/07/2022 14:47

@Nichelette ah it doesn't sound crazy at all! How amazing would that be for a birthday present?! Nevermind how good that birthday glass of wine would taste a couple o weeks later haha! Xo
