TTC whilst breastfeeding. Tips, advice and support

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it's definitely a BFP so far... But I'm just treating this as a 'warm up' cycle really and hoping I did ovulate and get a period.

How's everyone else doing?

Haha thanks everyone! I just think it's too bright for 7dpo for it to actually be true. Really trying to not get excited as I think the next one will be a BFN.

The dye did run down the strip v unevenly so I think it's probably just a dud test.

Still keeping fingers crossed though of course!

@Billyv I can see that second line!! And I'm usually rubbish with spotting squinters. Eeek!!

@Billyv ooh maybe!! Good luck with the retest. You are meant to be super fertile the month after coming off the pill, with a hormone surge, and it looks like a little line to me

@Golaz no that's me committing a Mumsnet sin and opening up the test (therefore invalidating the result anyway...)

My plan is to try again later with the second Morrisons test and if it looks like a line then crack open a FRER.

Because I'm not mental or anything 😁

I’m in the same situation as you. Theoretically 7dpo but highly doubting I ovulated 🙄.

@Mc3209 lots of cm is a good sign 🙂I had that with DS. No symptoms this time. But...you're not the only one testing at 7dpo. I did too and got myself... Half a squinter?

Obviously this isn't real (!!?! I mean...)

(I know it's most likely the dodgy Morrisons test I took, it's definitely a dodge line and 7dpo is not realistic).

@Billyv 8dpo and BFN on FRER. I am feeling pretty Yak in past few days, and I am not usually sicky. Nearly puked on my commute to work this morning. Still feeling as if I am about to come on, lots of CM.
Now, could be just a tummy upset, but I really want it to be something! Here is my wishful thinking of not testing before 12 dpo... Started POAS at 7dpo 🙈

7dpo here. Just not feeling it though... I'm mainly hoping that AF stays away until at least 12dpo and then appears as it should do, as I'm not convinced I ovulated. I usually get sore nipples after ovulation, not this month. Though they have been hammered by DS for 16m so maybe they can't feel anything now haha

I think that would be a win first month off the pill 🙂 although a BFP would be wonderful.

Also, it's 2 am and I am wide awake. My first pregnancy symptom before BFP with DS was pregnancy insomnia. Not that I am reading much into it 😂

Ugh. I feel like I am about to come on. 7dpo. Don't really know how long my cycles are going to be post baby, pre baby I was 26-27 days.

@Orangio Great news about sleeping through the night. Long May it continue. When my LG started sleeping through, my boobs were agony for a few days.

@ELM93 Hello! I’ve no advice either, about nutrition, but you sound really prepared for the future. I lost weight when I started working again- 2 months ago- and it’s hard to know what to do/try. Hopefully someone else can help you out with this. 🙂

Hi @ELM93 welcome! Sounds like you're pretty chilled about TTC, which must be a good thing. I don't have much advice about nutrition etc but some of the others had been doing quite a bit of reading on that so maybe they'll have tips. Are you trying to put weight on, or just stay the same?

@Gymandtonic00 tell me about it! My periods (I've only had two) seem to be heavier than they were before birth. It sucks! Hopefully there won't be too many of them before we are pregnant again 🙂

Good news from me... DS slept all night last night! Twelve hours! I've got fingers crossed this is him over night weaning and the start of sweet undisturbed sleep for me 🤣

Hi ladies! I’ve just caught up with all of your progress. Delighted for those of you who’ve got your BFPs.
My period finally arrived yesterday- LG is now -15 months and we’re down to 1 feed a day, before bed- and today‘s stomach cramps have been painful. My periods used to be so light but this one is completely different. 😣
Hoping to TTC this month but we’ll see what happens.

Hi, can I join please? My dd is 14m and we're beginning to think about trying for our second. I'm in the process of moving job though so there's a bit of a delay anyway to make sure that I get paid maternity for the next one. My period is not back yet anyway, but I want to make sure that it is once we're ready to start trying. I've lost a lot of weight bf and still feed a fair amount during the night and days I'm not at work. I'm going to start having an extra small meal a day and have started taking the seven seas pre conception vitamins. Has anyone else tried these or got any other advice?

@AnonymousXXIX I know it lulls you into a false sense of security! Can't tell you how many times we've thought we've cracked it, only to have a massive relapse

Argh, baby was sleeping okay last week incl two whole nights... but this week has been a disaster. Won't unlatch, not for naps or at night - and woke up 3 times a night the last 3 nights! Why is there no consistency in baby sleep 😥And also where did this suddenly come from at 10 months? Seems like separation anxiety? But still happy to go to nursery though? Ugh very jealous of your periods right now @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7!

@Golaz my DS is 2 years old and I just got my period back.
Very difficult not to get obsessed. For once I'm thankful for busy week at work coming up, hopefully it will stop me testing too early.

My son is eight months, almost nine, I've had three periods now. Haven't temped but have had long patches of ewcm, almost up until period day so I know things aren't balanced and my luteal phase is short. Im not actually TTC right this moment as my partner is working away so we've not really been together over my fertile period (whenever that is 🤣)

Will need to night wean though soonish! Glad it's going a bit better Orangio! My little one has had a fever last couple days and so been feeding a LOT - wondering how that'll affect things this month. Think I'm due on in ten days so will see if period comes or things get delayed
