Hi there I’ve never posted on here before, but wondered if anyone had any advice.
we have been ttc for 6 months now, I’m almost 36 and already have one son 18 months, conceived him 2nd month of trying. But this time taking longer. I have noticed when charting my ovulation I ovulate around day 20 with only a 27 day cycle. I just wondered if anyone had any advice. As the drs don’t even seem to know about short luteal phase, should I go to a clinic, can you get medication? They have done my blood tests and all my results were fine.

it’s so unfair, shouldn’t have to go private for things like that imo! I hope it all happens naturally for you and you get your bfp soon x

Victoriaspa · 13/07/2022 16:50

@Watsochick oh well that sounds hopeful! Fingers crossed for you. I’m torn about what to do, I know all I need it the progesterone medication so considering going private, but it’s so expensive

Thank you - you too! How are you today?
iv had a bit of a headache and been in the loo a few times. With my last pregnancy I was the same had diarrhoea the first few weeks x

Victoriaspa · 13/07/2022 15:21

Negative again today although I think I maybe saw a line but it’s my eyes probably lol!
if I’m going with my positive opk then I’m really only 6dpo anyway so so early - however going with last period I’m cycle day 33. So I’ll wait a few more days see it AF turns up x

I found a really interesting report about short luteal phase and breastfeeding. Although I stopped breastfeeding in December, my milk only stopped last month. So now I’m thinking this is definitely the reason. But weirdly since I’ve been tracking my ovulation (since Jan) it’s been getting later and later, and now I’m wondering if it’s the vitamins doing it?

@Watsochick did you test again today?

Rosiestraws · 12/07/2022 22:00

ah ok, damn! i have the temp but havent managed to get to grips with it - i toss and turn loads and by the time i think about it i'm pretty sure i've been awake and trying to get back to sleep again loads! maybe i'll try again!

Watsochick · 12/07/2022 21:48

These are pregnancy ones sorry

Victoriaspa · 12/07/2022 21:42

@Watsochick you can use some apps to read these for you, both look negative, for me it’s always really clear when they are positive but it’s only a short window so as ovulation approaches i test 3 times a day.

Victoriaspa · 12/07/2022 21:40

@Rosiestraws if you do LH test and monitor your BBT you can pin point the actual ovulation day, I use one of those aps to chart it, and by using the combination of the LH surge and then the rise in body temperature after you ovulate it usually pin points the exact day. How long have you been trying to conceive?

KSmith94 · 12/07/2022 21:37

@Rosiestraws yeah, it counts from ovulation to first day of period xx

Rosiestraws · 12/07/2022 21:35

ladies, @Victoriaspa @Regenbogen22 @Watsochick @clareykb @LuckyMoonstone @KSmith94

I'm in the same position with a short LP but can I just ask, as I've always wondered and wonder how to measure it myself, but when you say 10 days LP for example, is that from the date of the positive ovulation test to the date of the first day of your period? I've just always wondered when they say LP should be 14 days, presumably they mean from ovulation itself. As the actual ovulation is usually 1-3 days after the LH surge...obv we have no way of knowing normally exactly when we ovulate, but if I ovulate a day or two after the LH surge and we're counting from ovulation itself then I fear my LP is something like 8 days :(

@Emily907 thank you so much, which private clinic did you call? When I speak to the drs they just don’t get it.

@KSmith94 ah thank you

I’ve done reading about soy isoflavones but I’m still a bit wary, but I also really want to try them

Did you dr refer you?

Is this or the previous question directed at me?
Could you tag people or quote the post you're responding to? Otherwise it's hard to follow! 😆

If for me, no, I just booked directly (not UK)

KSmith94 · 07/07/2022 23:27

@LuckyMoonstone I have a 10 day LP, I ovulate on CD19 of a 29 day cycle but I conceived my son on 2nd month ttc and he's 16 months now so it can happen, sending you all baby dust 🤞🏻x

Watsochick · 07/07/2022 21:52

I’m month 7 of trying, cycle day 27 of around 32 - only just realised I have a peak on cycle day 26/27 so unsure if it’s a one off or will continue

Victoriaspa · 07/07/2022 21:36

im sorry for you MC, I stopped breastfeeding in December but my milk only stopped last month, so I wonder sometimes if it’s hormones still not settled down. Do you think it could be your hormones from the MC? I’ve found talking to drs most of them don’t even know what a short luteal phase is! :(

Victoriaspa · 07/07/2022 21:33

Thank you, it really is, I read that study too! So fingers crossed!

Following as my LP is 10 days, down from 14 days before I had a MC 6 months ago. I’m taking folic acid, vit D and vit C every day. Ovulation has come forward thankfully but LP still 10 days. I’m scared to take things like agnus castus and those soy isoflavones in case they mess up ovulation for me, it’s taken 6 months to bring it down to CD18 from CD30 something!
Been TTC 6 months and nothing. 3 previous pregnancies conceived in 1-4 months of trying. I am worried about my LP but feel like a doctor won’t be bothered.
