Hello guys - had the appointment with a really nice doctor. Took all my test results along incase didn't have them as at a different hospital.

Basically they are happy with the GP tests so all I have to have now is a day 1 FSH and if that is ok then book in for a HSG.

So hopefully if I get organised I can have the blood test in Feb and hopefully HSG at end of feb or march.

So relieved we don't have to have another round of tests before the HSG. I have this theory that there is something going on with my tubes! Especially the left one!!! makes me sound like a real wierdo but we shall see!

So pleased things are starting to move along - you are right it does make you feel slightly more in control, ttc does make you feel like you are totally losing it and in freefall sometimes

Ready how was your HSF? I know Viksam said that the lap and dye can clear small blockages, does the HSF do anything at all?

My experience of tests is very different - I had day 1 and day 21 blood tests done at gp's which showed I wasn't ov'ing - hospital were more than happy to take this at face value and didn't ask to repeat it. Same for DH's sperm test - requested by gp (actually taken to hospital and results back to gp). Hospital did say they wanted to re-test DH but then said if they were referring us for IVF anyway then the IVF centre would do the tests themselves

Poppy - lets hope they don't - but Hosp bascially said that they did more sophisticated tests than Dr (?) - each time of course it meant having appointment to be told what tests you needed to get done - then getting an appointment for the tests - then getting another appointment to review the results and talk about possible next stage etc - it does all take rather a long time to actually get anywhere sometimes!

Mistlethrush - thanks for info thought they might want to redo everything so good to know they often do so I'll not disappointed when they suggest that.

Had a great day today, met with friend with 1 toddler and 1 baby spend pm playing and doing fun stuff with them. Wouldn't have felt so positive around babies this time last year so much better now. Then went for dinner with some other friends! Wish I had afternoons off work everyday, so much more civilised!

Poppy, good luck at your appointment on Thursday. I guess it differs from area to area. My consultant was happy with everything my GP sent over, even called her by her first name, so clearly knew her well. Didn?t need to redo the semen or the Day21 tests as he was content with the results from both. I would say that if there is concern over the tests then they would redo them to make sure that it was not just an off day or something. My consultant basically wanted me to have an HSG as, in his words, ? the eggs are there, the sperm is there, let?s see if there is anything stopping them getting together?. Makes it sound so easy doesn?t it ? so the next step for us was the HSG.
I think it is possible that you will have to have an HSG. The other things are lap and dye or the internal ultrasound, or HyCosy is a new alternative to HSG. I am not being very helpful am I? I guess the first consultation is to meet your gynae and to chat about everything. Your period history, any concerns. Definitely mention the miscarriage. Good luck

Poppy - when we had all the tests, yes, had them at Doctors and then redone at hospital (despite having info from the Doctors) - and had to have tests each time we restarted on the list....

Hello - Viksam what sort of tests did you go through before having your scan?

I am going to my first clinic appointment on Thursday. Have been ttc since July 06 when had mc at 10 weeks. We have had blood tests and sperm analysis through GP. Would really like further investigations now, do they make you retake all the tests? What should I ask at my consultation?

Can understand that you just want to give yourself time at the moment. A friend of mine had a lap and dye, one tube had small blockage but she fell pregnant two weeks afterwards before she had any treatment! So you never know

Viksam - I know exactly what you mean. In fact, one of my friends who is a consultant in the field, specifically told us not to look at the internet at one stage as, if you started following one route, you could end up scaring yourself horrendously. As it happens, I should have read that one, but there we go! Really glad to hear that they can do something about it - its a shame that you have to wait so long for your appointmnet though!

I've had an HSG - not a particularly pleasant experience. I think that the consultant's comment 'there, that wasn't too bad was it' was a bit rich - I don't think that you should be 'allowed' to say that unless you have had whatever the proceedure is done to you (not possible in the circumstances)!

Thanks ready i think they can clear small blockages within the proceedure, but not too sure about mine. The doc that came around wasnt in the surgery so only know the bare facts really. The bowel thing is a bit wierd, dont think that anything needs to be done there, didnt even know, strange! There are several proceedures that can be done re the blockage, it all depends where the blockage is or if maybe the area needs cutting out and rejoining so will wait for my appointment before endless speculation via the net.
I have just had a giant row about it with my sister. I think i have dealt with it quite well so far and have looked up what the next steps might be, but due to the fact that i dont know the details its not worth trying to look it up, u can drive urself mad looking and wondering, i know i have been there and so have most of you guys im guessing. She was pestering me about what might happen next and didnt understand that i just wanted to leave it alone for a bit, so we argued, didnt really need that tonight to be honest. I suspect i am a bit highly strung at the moment but you just dont need someone pushing ur buttons, is that unreasonable. I feel bad now coz she is upset......but so am i.....Oh families eh!

viksam, I am sorry to hear that you have a tube that is not open but I suppose the good news is that at least now you know, and something can be done. I thought that usually they clear any blockages during the procedure, is this not the case then? Strange about your bowel being stuck to your stomach, is that something that can (if needed) be rectified? Pleased to hear you don't feel too sore - but make sure you rest plenty anyway. glosto wow you have a lovely DH mine is fab but would never think of doing that, I'll be interested to see if i get flowers today or not, i should imagine or not is most likley!
Anyhow L&D.........It went well, had to wait at the hospital for AGES got there at 10.30 had the Op at 3 didnt go home till 8ish, Had to wiat for the doc to come round. She told me i have part of my bowel stuck to my stomach, wierd. But also and more importantly only one tube is open she could tell me that when they inserted the dye in didnt go up the tube at all. Thats ali on the left hand side and could have been caused by an infection that i didnt even know i had. Not an STD though i asked, as to my knowledge i have never suffered one of those. She couldnt tell me about any treatment she was only there to pass on the outcome. I will get an appointment with my specialist in around 6 weeks time to discuss the next step. I am gona do some research on the net today to see whats what. As for how i feel......Ummm not that bad considering, strangly it does hurt in your shoulders, like a really bad muscle strain, its ok if you keep still, there is a bit of bleeding but nothing to worry about and my abdomen feels sore and the stitch is pinching a bit but apart from that im amazed how well i feel. If anyone has to have one, dont worry its not as bad as all that, really. Thanks for ur well wishing, ill keep u posted! x

No symptoms apart from mild period type pains and bizarre dreams. Been worrying that my luteal phase is too short. Wish I could stop obsessing about every little thing!

DH has been a dear. Was a bit grumpy yesterday so when I got home he told me he's booked me a facial and a back massage on Saturday and I'm to then spend the rest of the day relaxing

Hi everyone, i had a phone call from the hospital today saying they have a cancellation for my lap and dye, which has been cancelled twice, TOMORROW. I, of course, accepted but am now shitting it, for want of a better phrase! Have any of you guys had it done? If so, any advice????

So that's 3 April 05 dcs on this thread! Not bad for a thread with no dates or months in the title...

Ds at the beginning of April - which meant that there was a bit of a problem with his birthday party last year as it fell on Easter Saturday - 10 then another 10 children invited - 3 attendees - which was actually ideal for a 2nd party. All had a great time playing on the new climbing frame and (existing) swings and enjoyed all of the food. Ds talked about his cake for a long time (bear sunbathing with sun glasses on). Now we've got to try to work out who his friends are that he would like to invite this year which is a real tightrope. Its particularly difficult as he often plays with children slightly older than him - so I hope that he gets invited to their parties earlier, otherwise will feel at inviting them to his... . He has booked a dragon cake (at the moment) so my mother and I will have to get geared up to making it!
