Absolutely no way I'm pregnant, but...

DH had the snip about 9 years ago.

I am 36.

Very regular periods.

I am 10 days late.

5 days ago I thought I was starting because I had brown discharge. That carried on a couple of days and has now stopped.

I've had soft cramps for about a week but nothing starts.

I know it's completely ridiculous of me to think pregnancy but it's very much like my pregnancies!

I also usually have sore boobs before my period but not got that.

I feel ridiculous spending money on a test when my husband is sterile of 9 yrs.

Keep an eye on the pain OP, I would bare in mind the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy. It might be worth a call to your GP if your normal period doesn’t start soon.

All the best

TheKeatingFive · 30/06/2022 08:02

Why can't she be pregnant?

She can. But the strength of that line at 10 days late wouldn't suggest so.

Hoosemover · 30/06/2022 08:01

That isn’t a line.

Zonder · 30/06/2022 07:59

Hope you are ok this morning OP.

Pregnant…. My money is on a boy. Congratulations & wish you well with your decision

What on earth?

User3568975431146 · 30/06/2022 07:32

Why can't she be pregnant? Plenty of people became pregnant post vasectomy including my friend.

OMGOMGOMGHELP · 30/06/2022 07:19

Just want to add pregnancy symptoms without being pregnant can be a symptom of an ovarian cyst. If you keep testing negative, then get yourself to a dr for a check up.

Darbs76 · 30/06/2022 07:02

You’d think it would be a lot stronger line if you’re 10 days late. I’d test again in a few days. Go and get some cheap Poundland tests

@Hellomama5
you really need to create your own thread for more responses specific to your situation Flowers

liveforsummer · 30/06/2022 06:14

There was a thread a couple of weeks back where the OP was indeed pregnant and her husband had had a vasectomy. She was worried about family and friends etc thinking she had cheated. Those tests have a habit of giving a line like that though, better to get a cheap strip one. Could order off Amazon if you can't get to the right shop

Do not move in with him. By toxic what do you mean? An abusive, toxic person rarely if ever changes, be very, very careful. Your gut instinct is the best measure and yes, you would be very vulnerable.

OK, then. Follow up with a doctor to confirm one way or another if your period does not start withing 24-48 hours. Either the vasectomy failed (and they do not promise 100% success), or something is amiss. Possibly you are remenopausal, or something else is going on. I had that happen, and it was polyps...easily removed.

Ich · 30/06/2022 00:16

Let us know how you get on OP

ChinnyTroubles · 29/06/2022 23:43

@WhenISnappedAndFarted Did your poor mum have to have a DNA test done on her son to prove she hadnt cheated??

WhimsicalGubbins · 29/06/2022 23:41

It’s possible… I don’t want to freak you out, but my husbands fist snip eventually reconnected after a few years. So he had to have it done again, and this time we made sure it couldn’t possibly fail again! Lol!
luckily I didn’t fall pregnant, the reconnection was discovered by chance

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 29/06/2022 23:37

My Dad had the snip and along came my brother. These things do happen and before anyone says - yes a DNA test was done and he is most definitely my Dads

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 29/06/2022 23:33

FRERs are totally rubbish these days. I don't trust them anymore. The line is visible before you even dip it and when it's wet it's really hard to tell whether it's got colour to it. I don't trust them anymore unless it's an obvious line with colour. Like that I would say negative.

Ladyof2022 · 29/06/2022 23:29

This happened to someone I knew. A male colleague had a vasectomy and five years later his wife became pregnant. He sued ths surgeon for damages.

Preeeschooler · 29/06/2022 23:22

It does look positive but after all this time seems unlikely to be so faint.
Hoping you get the result you want tomorrow and thank goodness we live in a country where you have choices.

Best of luck!

SheSaysShush · 29/06/2022 23:14

My periods started to change mid-30s. I'm now early 40s and they're still changing. I can't keep up.

Ramdogs · 29/06/2022 23:12

Early stage menopause can sometimes cause slightly elevated hcg levels. This might explain your faint line?

ladydimitrescu · 29/06/2022 23:10

Bless you op, I imagine you're all over the place. Thinking of you Flowers

NahNoWay · 29/06/2022 23:07

Blinkingbatshit · 29/06/2022 23:05

Just bear in mind….the tubes they cut during vasectomy can (very rarely) rejoin (so it has to be done again). The line was very faint so I’m sure you’re right and AF will be along shortly BUT don’t take it as definitive that an initially successful vasectomy is guaranteed to remain so.

I think I will get DH to submit a sample to be tested, to be sure.
