Short cycle ladies!

Would anyone be interested in a short cycle ttc thread, or just short cycle chat in general?

My cycles range from 25-29 days but usually 26 or 27. Period starts 15 days after ovulation like clockwork. Got a positive OPK today on CD9, assuming I will ovulate CD10 and this one will be 25 days. I’m worried this is too short, although I recall worrying about the same thing before conceiving my now 2 year old - so assuming this is normal ‘for me’.

interested to hear from others😊

My cycles changed from 28/29 to 24/25 after I had my DD1. I didn't get AFback until 12 months after birth due to breastfeeding..

TTC number 2 for past 9 months. I'm on the older side , 44 so not holding out much luck there!

Good luck to all

Bluelightbaby · 30/10/2022 14:57

My cycles are pretty much 24days on the dot. I had a weird one last month that was only 18dats though ??

im 42 (very nearly 43) I’ve always had very short cycles but conceived within the first month of trying with both my DD when I was 24 & 27……this time I’m 9months into my TTC journey. Naively thought it would happen instantly again ! How wrong I was !

all blood tests/scans and seamen analysis normal though

Carlotta27 · 29/10/2022 15:20

Hi! @Callie25 how are you getting on? I’ve recently started tracking cycles TTC and last one was only 19 days with O on about day 6 I think - also got me worrying and doing a lot of unhealthy googling

not sure how trustworthy YouTube is, but this fertility Dr seemed to suggest that the timing of ovulation was not necessarily an issue … m.youtube.com/watch?v=gZK1zwWL5-0&t=202s xxx

FieldView · 29/08/2022 14:39

@autumnleaves17 yes I had bloods done and a tv unreason's last summer - all was ok but wondering if I should follow up and get blood checked again now my cycles are almost half the length they were last summer...

Sending baby dust your way for ttc #2!

I ovulate super early I'm fertile a few days after my cycle ends so for timing sex I would say start straight after AF ends.

This is the same with me, periods are like 6/7 days long and I ovulate on day 8. Someone told me the egg doesn't have long enough to settle and this might be my issue. Unsure if that's true x

autumnleaves17 · 29/08/2022 11:26

@FieldView I don't think shorter cycles are an issue really.
Have you had a general health check up with your GP?
That's what I did before we conceived my DD1, now 3.

Blood tests showed I was low in Vitamin D and B12, iron was a little low..anyway it's just good to get one.
Also a pelvic ultrasound is good for seeing how many follicles you have , general health of ovaries etc etc.

TTC number 2....and I'm 44!!!!!
Good luck

I'm not ttc but I've had my DD who was unplanned and a further unplanned pregnancy which ended in miscarriage all were 25-27 day cycles as I've always had.

FieldView · 29/08/2022 10:55

Reading with interest! This thread has given me hope, and it's a safer space than Dr Google!

I'm 35, TTC#1 and have been for around 18 months. Cycles were really long last year (as long as 49 days some months!), but miscarried in Dec. Since then, cycles are much shorter - AF arrived today after a 25 day cycle and I've been Googling whether a short cycle is problematic...

From the conversations on this thread, it doesn't seem as though a short cycle is automatically a problem - Phew

Callie25 · 28/08/2022 13:07

My cycle was 21 days this month!! 23 the few months before. That was exactly 14DPO but I'm wondering if this is the reason it isn't happening? I've seen people say the egg needs a certain amount of time to develop before fertilisation?

Callie25 · 24/08/2022 13:09

@summerdays12 I always thought AF came approx 14 days after ovulation, so maybe you just have a longer cycle this month? Last month I was 8 days late from my usual! My cycles are always 23-25 days

summerdays12 · 23/08/2022 13:59

@WolfMother326 @Callie25 just wondering if it can go the other way...out can ovulate later on a short cycle?

I got a dark line on OPK first response brand on morning of Day 12....so ovulation day 13/14?

I have regular 24/25 day cycles

@Callie25
This study says it can happen as early as day 8, but that 39% of women with short cycles (in the study) were in their fertile window by the end of the first week of a cycle. It also says the study produced a healthy baby by a woman who ovulated on day 8.

Thanks, I had a very dark ovulation test on CD7 and then CD8 and 9 there was nothing. Getting so annoyed by the whole thing 🤦🏻‍♀️

Does anyone else tend to ovulate around CD7 or is this too early? My cycles are roughly 23 days x

summerdays12 · 18/08/2022 14:02

@allgoodthings84 thank you...trying my best to forget the OPK's and just DTD every other day.
I can't believe we conceived my DD1 without all this fuss of OPK's ...
Honestly!
But time isn't on my side now so feels no under pressure...

allgoodthings84 · 17/08/2022 22:25

@summerdays12 the above message us for you 😊

allgoodthings84 · 17/08/2022 22:24

The stick OPK’s positive is usually at peak so static smiley stage not flashing smiley

i occasionally have 24 day cycles and get a positive CD11/12 so likely ovulate CD12/13 on these cycles. At CD10 mine wouldn’t be positive

WolfMother326 · 17/08/2022 21:03

It's so addictive! But I found it also caused stress in my relationship demanding sex on certain days haha. Just doing it regularly took the stress off.

also I ovulated way earlier than I thought. I think I got the solid smiley when I had already ovulated but maybe that's just a wrong guess.

Callie25 · 17/08/2022 14:36

I agree, I didn't used to test and I was so much less stressed 😂but now I've started it gets a bit addictive doesn't it

summerdays12 · 17/08/2022 10:40

@WolfMother326 will try ! I think I'm not DTD enough and going too early not late enough

WolfMother326 · 17/08/2022 10:27

Good luck to you both.

I seriously cannot recommend enough just having sex every other or every third day from around day 5, not checking ovulation. Less stressful and you're sure to catch it.

summerdays12 · 17/08/2022 00:43

I've been using first response OPK's this morning and I'm not getting a positive dark line , on Day 10.
The Clearblue digital gave me a flashing smiley face by now.
I know the first response predict only 2 days..

I'm a 24 day cycle average.
I'm getting myself in knots over this I need to stay calm!

Callie25 · 16/08/2022 22:00

Yeah this is month 9, so I'm hoping I'll get lucky this time. Ovulation test was postive on Sunday which was day 7, so we've tried our best since. Let the TWW begin!

WolfMother326 · 10/08/2022 14:01

Hi @appleaday12. Sometimes I got a high reading as early as day 8 or 9, but the month we conceived we only did it on day 7. I think it's probably smart to just do it every other day all throughout your cycle. I have a feeling I got the high reading on OPK after I'd already ovulated.
