Hello ladies.

So this is my story. I am 30years with a beautiful DD, aged 4. We decided we would finally give start trying for baby #2 in May. However, as we had a big family holiday planned for 14 nights during May this meant that we were only able to try prior to going on holiday. So we figured that month was completely out of the question.

My period was due towards the second half of the second week away but Instead I had very sore breasts and a super bubbly stomach. I just figured it was PMT symptoms especially as it was accompanied by spotting.

The spotting continued, everyday. On arrival home, I did a pregnancy test, really not believing I could be pregnant since we were unable to even really "try". To my shock and delight it was positive!

I had some spotting on my DD during early pregnancy so didn't think too much into it. However, the spotting got worse. I tried contacting a local midwife who advised that as I was only 4.5 weeks pregnant there was nothing I could other than wait it out.

It continued, with period cramping pains and a lower bad back, although they were mild. The spotting colour changed to bright red and then on Wednesday (last week) I knew I was completely miscarrying. We are devestated but we understand these things happen. I'm also trying not to overthink everything as that's what I always do.

I've now stopped bleeding. And feel that I've gone through a bit of an emotional roller-coaster the last week. We would like to try again, straight away. So I guess I'm looking for a little advice.

The Dr told me it's probably best to wait a cycle before trying again but looking online there doesn't seem to be any benefit or logic to this if you know you miscarried earlier in pregnancy and have passed the full miscarriage. Do you think I will be fine to immediately try again without first having a period?

And then if I was successful would I just count my pregnancy from the miscarriage bleed? (father than 1st day of last period)

I was thinking of booking a ultrasound scan privately to check the endometrium lining is thick enough to support a pregnancy. Do you think this is wise? And if so, do you think 2 weeks following MC would be the best suitable time to book a scan to view the thickness?

Also, people have told me how common MC is and how I obviously must have found out super early in pregnancy. But I didn't think we did find out super early? A few people have passed the same remark ; " you found out early if you was only 4.5 weeks. Most people don't know until later" now I understand if I hadn't of done a test then I would have assumed this MC was my period. However, I was 3 days passed my due period when I tested so? 😳 Isn't finding out your about 4.5 weeks pregnant about the usual??

Sorry for the ramble. I guess it's nice just to write everything down 🤷🏽‍♀️.

Thanks.

Hi @Laurzz how exciting for you, let us know how it all goes! @Lauren441 how are you feeling today?
@Cas112 thanks for sharing your story too. Gives us all so much hope!

@WaitingWatchingPeeing feeling so rough still, reassured after speaking with my GP that it's fine to dose up on paracetamol and that odds these days are so much better with covid and pregnancy because of vaccines etc.
It just feels weird taking so much medicine when you're pregnant but as she said it's better than a fever and paracetamol is apparently perfectly safe! Just can't wait to be out of the horrid fevery stage.
Am so glad I have the progesterone as backup right now though. If I get past tomorrow, I would have made it further than my chemical so I feel like that's a bit of a milestone tomorrow!
Do let us know the outcome of your first test tomorrow - is that when you're due AF as well? X

WaitingWatchingPeeing · 30/06/2022 16:40

How are you feeling @Maya12345? Hope your over the worst of it and not worrying to much 🤞🏼

Best of luck tomorrow @Laurzz sickness is a good sign and it will be so lovely to come out with reassurance. Will be keeping an eye out to hear how you got on

How are your tests looking now @Lauren441 and have you contacted the gp?

I am amazed Iv held of testing, literally counting down the hours to tomrorow am now 🤪 hoping to mirror you also @Cas112 🙏🏼🤞🏼

I had a miscarriage beginning of November and got pregnant again 6 weeks later no period in between albeit we didn't intentionally plan for that to happen. However now carrying a very healthy baby at 30weeks😊

Laurzz · 29/06/2022 10:44

@@Lauren441 thank you - i'll keep you all updated.

This will be our first and due January 2023 (all going well). My first pregnancy earlier in the year MC never crossed my mind and I was a bit naive to believe I'm a healthily 27 year old, why would it happen to me? Now, I'm super aware of all the possible complications etc. The worry does consume your first trimester but i guess i'll relax more after Friday.

Lauren441 · 29/06/2022 10:00

@lauzz the date they give you would is not the actual accurate amount of time you've been pregnant. It's a strange one, but pregnancy is calculated over 40 weeks. But we are actually only pregnant for 38 weeks of it.

So they class you as pregnant from the first day of your last period (even though that's impossible!) they only do it as its easier to date people this way. So in theory youve been pregnant since ovulation (which is 10 weeks) but the midwife will always date you as being pregnant 2 weeks before you were. So you're 12 weeks now 😂👏🏼.

@Laurzz - woah, Friday! How exciting. This mornings sickness was a huge positive sign. So fingers crossed. Try not to get too stressed (I know it's impossible) but it's out of your control. I'm quietly confident you'll be fine.

Isnt it strange; I never once questioned any of these things on my DD. Got pregnant and didn't once enter my head I could MC. So had nothing but excitement for the 12 week scan. Like you, I'll be the same if I make it to 12 weeks too! A nervous anxious mess. 🙈 But I'm feeling confident for you. The sickness today was such a good sign. 🤞🏼🙏 Hang in there, you've got this.

@waitingwatchingpeeing - good plan! Try and hold off until Friday if u think itl make you obsessive with testing. Is your AF due on Friday too?

Congratulations @Lauren441 & @Maya12345 💕.

I have my 12 week scan on Friday and I've convinced myself there will be no heartbeat. The anxiety is unreal.

At my first midwife appointment a few weeks back we ran through a lot and she tried to re-assure me. I've dated myself 10+2 based on ovulation but the NHS calculations date me 12+1 today. My partner also admitted to me this morning he didn't sleep much last night worrying about Friday. We have agreed to have a chat tonight over dinner and prepare ourselves for whatever outcome and be keep talking to each other. Weirdly, I've had no morning sickness for over 2 weeks now and this morning it made a return. Only sick once but feel rubbish. never been so happy to throw up!!

WaitingWatchingPeeing · 29/06/2022 09:27

@Maya12345 I'm so sorry this has happened but keep positive, you are likely to be out the fever stage in a few days, the progesterone is there as your back up and I have also read paracetamol is totally fine!

@Lauren441 still so excited by your test 😍

With my first and the chemical I was a poas addict but it definitely drove me mad with anxiety last month desperately trying to see progression whilst feeling like the lines wernt dark enough and didn't feel right.

Iv decided I will still try wait until Friday (12DPO) and then test every other day if I am lucky enough to get a positive to allow for clear progression to try and help not loose my mind OR be clear that it looks like another chemical

I know I sound mad but I got in such a bad way for the 2 weeks I was pregnant but didn't seem right with the chemical 😔

Lauren441 · 29/06/2022 09:22

@maya1234 - sounds awful! I'm pretty sure the paracetamol won't do any harm. And to be honest, the fact that you have to rest now will also probably only help the pregnancy further.

Its so easy to say try not to panic, but it's so difficult isn't it. Especially with previous MCs. I guess, try and focus on the covid rather than the pregnancy and make sure your taking all your daily vitamins etc. That's all you can do.

Fingers crossed the doctor can put you at ease. I'm sure if you request an early scan for 7 weeks they will allow it as your last sad a MC. I would definitely push for that if you can?

@Lauren441 sounds like a great plan! X

Maya12345 · 29/06/2022 09:19

@WaitingWatchingPeeing sure here were my 9dpo tests, super faint but definitely there! I just felt quite run down and a bit nauseous, coupled with the spotting that started on 6dpo I had a strong feeling too!

Lauren441 · 29/06/2022 09:17

I told myself I would test everyday until either a positive or a period. Because a negatibe for me, isn't really a no, a period is. It could just be too early. So with that mindset, I would definitely do a test!

Aw thanks! At first there wasn't anything, it took a few minutes as it's so faint. So I went from "same old" feeling to delight! And now panic 😂. You know how it is!

My plan is to test everyday/other day and hopefully see the lines getting stronger 🤞🏼. And then, if any bleeding starts, I'll get down to the GP. I don't think he will prescribe anything without bleeding. And even then Ill probably have a fight on my hands.

@Lauren441 this is so exciting!! Congratulations! How do you feel mentally as well? I'm so happy for you 😄

I've been anxious as I had a very strong different sort of positive test today.. Was up all night with fever and aches with it. Definitely have covid. Just so worried about having a fever and taking so much paracetamol this early on. Everything I've read said paracetamol is fine but if I don't have maximum dose my fever spikes again. Just hope it calms down today. Have a call with my GP later as well.
It better not screw anything up!

WaitingWatchingPeeing · 29/06/2022 09:04

Sorry @Lauren441 Iv just seen your last bit. I got so excited by the positives and the pictures I lost focus 🤪

WaitingWatchingPeeing · 29/06/2022 09:03

Oh my gosh @Lauren441 this is so so so exciting. I am sending so many good vibes for nice progressing lines 😍 will you head to the gp if you get a few more positives given last time and @Maya12345 experience?

Lauren441 · 29/06/2022 09:01

@maya12345 - so glad the bleeding has stopped! That's a massive leap in the right direction! Also, gutted to hear about your covid. Hopefully it won't be too severe and will come and go like a cold.

@waitingwatchingpeeing - I've only ever just used the tesco or Morrisons home make. They definitely are not as good at detecting early pregnancy like the amazon ones though. The supermarket brands all look for around 20ml of HCG whereas the amazon and early detection tests typically look for 10ml.

However, that being said..... I did a test this morning and got a faint positive on a tesco home brand and then again on a Morrisons one. Well I think so (🤔🤞🏼) .... Here's the pics.

As I have no idea of ovulation date, all I can go on is the most sensible date we could have conceived and that was Sunday 19th. So that would put me at 10 days past conception. Which I would assume is about accurate for such faint positives with a supermarket brand test.

Also, it stops me going crazy as I felt naesuous all day yesterday and then you question if your just imaging symptoms. No bleeding yet, but if/when that starts I'll definitely be straight down to the GP asking for progesterone! 🤞🏼

How are you both feeling today?

Yeh but thank god your on the progesterone. Imagine the double worry with covid, bleeding & previous chemical!

Do you mind me asking what your symptoms were at 9DPO and how dark the line was?

Sorry meant to tag you @Maya12345
