Early congrats @LemonZestDribbles and @Amber17 🥳

I went to the Dr here in France today who has booked me in for a load of blood tests ahead of my midwife appointment in June.

I've also been getting horrendous upper right abdomen and back pain so he's also put me in for a gallbladder test. 🙄

Tropicana1 · 12/05/2022 13:49

That's so frustrating @HeathenPlayingHouse and like @FourOclock says it's so so awful that women's health issues are so often not taken seriously enough or just explained away as "normal" or to be expected.
Really hope your hospital appointment gets brought forwards quickly and someone is actually able to get the ball rolling on helping you x

FourOclock · 12/05/2022 13:47

Oh god @HeathenPlayingHouse this all sounds so bloody frustrating! Why is women's health not taken seriously?! You should not be having to manage with not being able to go out with your child at the risk of bleeding heavily. I really really hope the hospital appointment comes through quickly and you start to get some decent help and answers

HeathenPlayingHouse · 12/05/2022 13:17

Thanks all 😘

@Tropicana1 The heavy bleeding started over a year ago, but I seem to be swinging between 3 months without a period to 2-3 months of constant bleeding.

I had an ultrasound last September which ruled out fibroids, and when I spoke to the other doctor in January to ask for something to induce my period after 3 months of waiting, she said I just had to lose weight because it was down to the PCOS. That period eventually showed up and lasted nearly 2 weeks but eventually stopped with the Tranexamic acid/Mefanamic acid combo.

Then when I spoke to her again in March because those tablets were no longer stopping the bleeding, she again told me to lose weight because the PCOS was causing it. She mentioned Metformin as an option, but then because the scan in September hadn't shown active cysts and at that point I had just about had 4 periods within a 1 year timeline, she refused to prescribe it to me.

I only asked about the Metformin because they're telling me it's likely the PCOS causing the issue. I just hate that I'm being made to feel like a nuisance to them when my quality of life is being affected so much. Which then makes me feel like a drama queen for complaining, I know I could be so much worse off.

@Amber17 @LemonZestDribbles 🥳🥳🥳
Exciting times! Keep us updated

DesertSnow · 12/05/2022 12:21

Congrats @Amber17 and @LemonZestDribbles - they look positive to me! Lovely news.

Hi to @Sandcastles24 and @mumone88 👋

@HeathenPlayingHouse sorry about the GP, that sounds like rubbish and how horrid for you. The 'nothing else we can do' line is just rubbish.

Tropicana1 · 12/05/2022 11:36

@HeathenPlayingHouse I'm so sorry the GP isn't giving you any help and that definitely doesn't sound right if he initially prescribed metformin - he must have heard you. Although when I had metformin it was to improve my cycle length variation and ovulation predictability from PCOS as I was going 3+ months sometimes without a period, rather than anything to do with heaviness or duration of bleeding, whereas I have mefenamic acid to reduce the length and heaviness of my bleeding. Are you hoping that metformin would affect your actual bleeding volume?

WingingIt09 · 12/05/2022 11:06

@mumone88 welcome and good luck!

@HeathenPlayingHouse I'm so sorry you had no luck with the Gp! What a load of rubbish, he clearly heard you say metformin otherwise wouldn't have prescribed it in the first place!

Tropicana1 · 12/05/2022 10:45

@LemonZestDribbles I can see the one step and the faint FRER line too! Fingers crossed it gets stronger the next few days!! 10dpo is early too - I think I got my first positive FRER at 11dpo with my first

@Amber17 congratulations!!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 12/05/2022 10:35

Congratulations @LemonZestDribbles and @Amber17! Fantastic news!

I spoke to the GP and he claimed that I had said Mefanamic acid, not Metformin. Which is not only wrong, it's a load of bollocks- if he really thought that, then why did he prescribe Metformin in the first place before going back and changing it?

He said he would refer it to the other doctor to decide, but when I told him that she wouldn't prescribe it to me, he basically gave up and said there was nothing else he could do.

So I'm just stuck bleeding until I see the hospital, whenever that will be. I just bled over a bench taking my DS to play at the park. Thank god we had a huge amount of baby wipes.

Dreamingof3 · 12/05/2022 10:14

Congratulations @Amber17 you'll have to let us know his reaction later!

@LemonZestDribbles I definitely see it on both! Congratulations 🎊

mumone88 · 12/05/2022 10:01

Hi all, can I join? 🙂 This is CD2 of cycle 1 TTC for baby #2.

My daughter was born late November 2020 so she's 17 months, I'm 33. We conceived her first month trying so I have no idea how long it might take this time or whether that was just a fluke!

I had my copper coil out last month and I'm using Natural Cycles again (used it last time both as contraception and to TTC). I'm still breastfeeding once a day but I got my period back 7 months ago so hoping that won't impact on fertility.

Theawkwardblonde · 12/05/2022 09:59

@LemonZestDribbles @Amber17 congratulations!! Very exciting!

LemonZestDribbles · 12/05/2022 09:57

@Sandcastles24 welcome and lots of luck!

@Amber17 that's so exciting to tell him 😍

Thanks everyone! Trying not to get too excited. I'm only 10dpo. Cd26 and they've been 28 to 32 days recently. I'll test again with frer over the next few days and hopefully see a better line on them. Dh is fed up looking at tests now 🤣

Amber17 · 12/05/2022 09:47

congrats @LemonZestDribbles - I def see a line on the top one!

@FourOclock Thanks - I’m 13DPO. Trying not to get too excited cos it’s so early but also googling how to book in with the midwives etc.

WingingIt09 · 12/05/2022 08:42

@Amber17 congratulations! That's a lovely line!

@LemonZestDribbles that top test definitely looks positive, congratulations. hopefully it will show on a FRER better tomorrow?

@Sandcastles24 welcome! I've added you to the list :)

FourOclock · 12/05/2022 08:37

Congratulations @Amber17 and @LemonZestDribbles! Both positive looking to me! How many DPO are you both?

dearhummingbirds · 12/05/2022 08:26

@LemonZestDribbles fingers crossed! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 The top test does seem to be positive, doesn’t it!? Not sure I can see a line on the other. But it seems like cameras don’t pick it up well.

Congratulations @Amber17 🥳🥳

Seems like we’re adding another two to the BFPs 😁

Sandcastles24 · 12/05/2022 08:08

Hi all,
Can I join? Waiting to try for number 2 in June when number 1 will be just over a year 😀

Amber17 · 12/05/2022 08:03

Thanks for all the birthday wishes ladies.

Had an invalid test at 12DPO, and this morning a positive on a FRER!

I’m in shock. DH went out to work before I did the test but I bought a baby outfit literally yesterday so am going to leave that out for when he gets home.

LemonZestDribbles · 12/05/2022 08:02

@hevann @LucyLoopyLu 🤞🤞🤞 af stays away

@WingingIt09 hope you enjoyed your time away!

@keeponsmiling2019 good luck for May 🤞

@DesertSnow welcome!!! My icky didn't properly kick in until 6 weeks so that timing sounds good. Happy wedding planning!

I've been having lots of symptoms the same as when I was pregnant with ds. Got some faint lines on frer and a couple of shadows on OS the last few days. Yesterday afternoon got a pink line on OS so was expecting more of a line on Frer this morning but still faint (if stronger I think) and same line on OS. Excuse the mingy window, not long moved and everything is yellow 🙈😬

DesertSnow · 11/05/2022 21:36

@WingingIt09 thank you for adding me to the list! And thanks all for your welcomes 😊

@FourOclock that is helpful to know, thank you. We decided on September as if we caught straight away (which we doubt, but you never know of course!) I would be max 5 weeks at the wedding - that's if current cycle pattern holds, but it can be a bit unpredictable. I think I probably wouldn't fit into my dress if I was significantly pregnant, and we also have fears of what might happen if I had a mc before the wedding - not negative thinking, more practical really as we know the stats. My friend had a mc 3 weeks before her wedding and it was awful. As I've never been pregnant before, of course I don't know how my body might react, and I can only image early pregnancy sickness etc. would be rubbish to navigate on a wedding day. Definitely food for thought, thank you!

WingingIt09 · 11/05/2022 21:19

@DesertSnow welcome! Added you to the list

@Theawkwardblonde I conceived first cycle trying for #2, miscarried and then conceived DD2 next cycle after that.

@LaVitesse2022 I've added you to the list. Good luck!

FourOclock · 11/05/2022 21:01

@DesertSnow I don't know if it helps at all, but I got married at 13 weeks pregnant with my first and I could not have done it a moment sooner, I didn't feel great until 16 weeks really and kind of wish we'd got married a few weeks later but we were dictated by harvest. Just mentioning incase you fancy starting TTC earlier Smile

LaVitesse2022 · 11/05/2022 20:58

@WingingIt09 can I join the TTC crew too? I've started just last week (feels ages ago!) and I'm now 7DPO and def relating to the pain of the TWW. We only DTD once and its only the first cycle we're trying though I'm very regular and I've been tracking my cycles for 18 months so not sure what to expect... Currently on holiday and planning on testing on Sunday or Monday once I'm home.

@LucyLoopyLu I've used Natural Cycles for 18 months as a contraceptive when I got off the pill and have found the switch to TTC mode really straightforward. Not cluttered at all and really user friendly.
