Hi! I have had 3 miscarriages in two years and wondered has anyone else experienced this but went on to have a baby with no known cause? All my bloods are normal but it's hard to believe it will ever happen when you've had 3 miscarriages in a a row.

I got excited but the fear of a Miscarrige or loss never left me. Everytime I went to the toilet I would check for blood. I bled heavily at 17 weeks with DS and was distraught, turns out itbwas old blood thag had become trapped underneath him and when he moved the blood moved. My first baby died 2 hours after he was born though so the fear never left me even when my pregnancys progressed further and further.

Even now, I would love another but I couldn't cope living in fear like that ever again. It never left me. The excitement came and went but the fear always stayed x

Yes - two around 6 weeks and an MMC around 9 weeks (which took ages to actually complete, and was quite traumatic in hindsight).
We put TTC on hold for a bit between 2 and 3 (due to covid). I conceived again v quickly after 3 so didn't have any investigations, but I'm now 31 weeks.
I had progesterone and aspirin this time but might have just got lucky.
Don't lose hope x

I'm glad you're having the testing done. Fingers crossed it gives you some answers.

@Dumdeedahdumdeedo I'm sorry you've had so many losses. How did you feel when trying again each time? Do you still have the excitement/hope each time? The third time I never let myself get excited and I think it has helped me heal this time

You can get 1g of folate and take five, I guess?

I just take 1g per day. I have the MTHFR mutation and so does my husband. We don't think it was the cause of our miscarriages but there's nothing to lose by taking it.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 31/03/2022 11:00

Yes I was referred after the second one and my bloods were normal. I have been referred again to a diff hospital and they said lupus anticoagulant wasn't tested so I'm getting that in a few weeks. Can you get 5mg of folate? I can't seem to find it anywhere?
They have sent the twins away for testing so should be another 3 weeks before those results are back

I had 5 losses and went on to have a successful pregnancy on my 6th attempt.

The time I was successful I did an HCG trigger shot to trigger ovulation a little earlier, and then supplemented with progesterone. My doctor thinks it is an ovulation problem.

As your losses are a little later, it may well be a different cause. Have you been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic? Did you have a tissue analysis done after any of your losses?

As a starting point you should have blood tests done to check your thyroid and to see whether you have any blood clotting disorders.

You may also want to assume you have the MTHFR mutation and start taking high dose methylfolate instead of folic acid.

I had 4 losses before I fell pregnant with my DD. I'd read about people taking aspirin daily to help with keeping a pregnancy so thatd what I started doing, could be a coincidence but she stayed. I did the same with my DS too. All in all I've been pregnant 10 times OP and I only have 2 children

I am so sorry to hear. I had two in a row, a successful Pregnancy and a miscarriage before that. My most recent was an ectopic last year. I now have a small baby lying on me while I'm up doing a night feed.
Try to stay positive I know it's so hard, sounds
like you are receiving extra care with high dose folic acid and things. I know it's so frustrating and heartbreaking I never had a reason for my losses. If you need a break from trying take it and the time to heal. I really hope you get your rainbow baby.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 31/03/2022 00:07

Also my first two I lost at 6/7 weeks and the last one with twins I seen their heartbeats at 8 weeks and lost them at 13 weeks. I think I have got to the point where I am just numb about the whole thing.

Thank you everyone for getting back so quickly. It's good to hear your positive stories. For the third pregnancy I was expecting twins and I was put on those progesterone pessaries from my positive test and also high dose folic acid and vit d. So I just don't know what will make a difference if there ever is a next time.
I keep hearing I have an excellent prognosis for a successful pregnancy in the future but I heard that after the first one and it is just disheartening as I would count myself as fairly healthy and I'm only 27. The only thing I can do atm is control what I eat. I might try aspirin next time!

I had 4 miscarriages all between 5 and 8 weeks had lots of tests with no conclusions. I did some research and wanted to try progesterone pessaries. The consultant said I could give them a try. When I got pregnant again I started with them and it was the first time I saw a heartbeat, that heartbeat is now 8 years old.might be worth giving them a go op , good luck x

Hey! I'm so sorry to hear about your losses- in 2020 I had three miscarriages during lockdown. It was absolutely soul destroying. I was referred to miscarriage unit (sorry if that's the wrong name) but it was shut due to covid. So I did some research of my own. I was iron deficient, high blood pressure and in all three miscarriages had low pregnancy hormone counts. So I went on a course of iron tablets, exercised and sorted out my diet for blood pressure and when I did get pregnant 3 months later I was given hormone pessaries and early scans etc. I now have a healthy 8 month old!

Your situation may not be the same and more avenues might be open to you as more gynaecology departments are operating. Don't lose heart, talk to your gp. I also was a fairly old mother (38) which may have been a factor.

Thinking of you x hope this is of some use!

bellamountain · 30/03/2022 23:17

Yes, I'll never know what caused the recurrent miscarriage (3 in total) but a very good consultant prescribed me with progesterone and blood thinners. I went onto have a baby at full term.

Thisbastardcomputer · 30/03/2022 23:14

My daughter in law did, although she developed preeclampsia at 26 weeks, baby was 1.7 lbs, he's doing fine now

Angliski · 30/03/2022 23:09

Regan not Regab

Angliski · 30/03/2022 23:09

Sorry to hear thisnOP. I’m sorry for your losses.

Have you checked in with Dr Regab in london? She has a recurrent miscarriage clinic.

A friend had several and was convinced a gluten and carb free diet made the difference in the end for her. She now has two dc.
