Pregnant straight after M/C - Has anyone done this and had successful P/G?

I had a M/C in early December and did not bleed for long. Different people advise you different things. Anyway me and DH have you know quite a bit since. I was wondering whether it is possible to get pregnant straight the way again and if so is this a bad thing.

I feel fine emotionally and Physically but am wary that I may have been silly not using protection. Obviously I do not know when / if I have ovulated so how long do I leave it to see if I am pregnant / my body is returning to normal.

I would be delighted if I was but did not know whether anyone had got pregnant straight after a miscarriage and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy.

Many Thanks for reading this.(Ths is the first time I have started a thread - wooo!)

So sorry cece and coolkat. I remember the feeling of just wanting to get on with it after my mc. I think that there is no issue with trying straight away after a "straightforward" 1st TM mc, but it is probably better to wait a cycle or 2 after a 2nd TM mc.

I mc at 10 weeks (complete, no intervention), waited one period (4 weeks) and got pregnant straight away. I'm now 34 weeks pregnant.

Good luck to all of you who have had mc's and are trying.

FairyMum · 08/01/2008 06:36

Yes pregnant 4 weeks after MC twice. Resulted in gorgeous babies!Best of luck to you xx

I had a miscarriage in Aug 07, at 12wks. I wasn't ready to try again straight away, and it took a while for my cycle to go back to normal, so I have been happy to wait a few months. AF in Sep, Nov, Dec, so feel like my hormones have settled down a bit more now and I feel . I'm like you Expat, 37, so was thrilled when I fell pregnant last May, as the baby would have been due next month. I think I should be ovulating in the next week or so, so hope dh is feeling rested

I got pregnant stright after a miscarriage and was terrified but gp said statistically the pregnancy had the same risks/chance as any pregnancy - no different because I had just had a miscarriage

He is now 6 and a half and I always call him my miracle baby

I had a second miscarriage a few years later and since then have had a healthy baby girl.

So been pregnant 5 times and had 3 wonderful kids out of it - good odds I think!

spugs · 06/01/2008 20:53

had a mc at 6 1/2 weeks in may, had one af then found out expecting again. im now 29 weeks . we did start trying straight after the mc but i did find it a bit confusing as to whether the bfps were due to a new pregnancy or not so im kind of glad i had an af (though i was gutted at the time) good luck to everyone whos ttc

coolkat · 06/01/2008 20:42

Thanks ladies, just wondered whether it was possible as me and DH not used protection since m/c and no AF yet. Will give it another few weeks and then test. M/C december 2nd.

Wish me luck!!

I had one period after my last mc and then got pregnant. The mc damaged my cervix so I did have some early bleeding but I'm 19 weeks now and it's going well so far.

MrsBond · 06/01/2008 19:36

I got pg after early m/c (@ 7wks) - got the BFP about one month after. Healthy baby now 21 months!

just wanted to post my positive experience

mumiyumi · 06/01/2008 19:16

i'm pretty sure that a bug i had, i'll never know what it was, but i will always believe it was food poisoning, ended the life of my baby.

i started spotting the day after the vomitting stopped and the missed mc was diagnosed nearly 3 weeks later after a third scan.

coolkat · 03/01/2008 21:13

Oh Cece that is awful, what you have been through is far worse than mine. I cross my fingers for you.
I have a friend at work Cece and she has suffered m/c and is going for her 20 week scan tomorrow - she is older than you so do not worry. Expat my friend had twins when she was your age she just turned 40 and the twins are 2 and a half. All my friends are older and wiser although I can not ask them about this. I will wait a few more weeks and then test.
Like someone said if it is meant to be it will happen.
I am sure my miscarriage is down to the single bloody magpie we keep getting in the garden.

m/c, period 4 weeks later then concieved, he's fast asleep upstairs - 8 months tomorrow. Completely straight forward pregnancy.

So sorry for your loss, cant imagine what you must be going through. Good luck.

cece · 03/01/2008 20:58

It is nice to have such encouraging stories though

chankins · 03/01/2008 20:58

So sorry to hear that cece. You are very brave and I really hope things work out for you this time.
I also got pg straight after a mc at 9 wks, and she is now 5.
Good luck to you x

loobylooby · 03/01/2008 20:57

I had one period after mc and then conceived again. Absolutely fine.

beansprout · 03/01/2008 20:57

Really sorry to hear of your loss cece.

coolkat - I am 36 weeks preg, and got the bfp the month after my m/c last year.

cece · 03/01/2008 20:55

Thank you. Yes it was pretty horrible. The worse bit was when I realised that I couldn't feel movements anymore and the midwife and doc then confirming there was no heartbeat. I really miss feeling her ...

expatinscotland · 03/01/2008 20:51

Aw, cece .

I'm so, so sorry you had to go through that.

whomovedmychocolate · 03/01/2008 20:51

Oh Cece I can't even begin to imagine what a horrible time you are having.

cece · 03/01/2008 20:49

That is though not sure I am emotionally ready! Mine was a second trimester mc so had to have labour and birth Haven't even had the funeral yet

sherbert · 03/01/2008 20:48

I got pregnant pretty quickly after MC , i think i had one period. My DS is now 18 months old, no problems in the pregnancy

expatinscotland · 03/01/2008 20:47

there's really no need to wait, cece.

i had an ERPC on 10 december for missed MC and my GYN said we could go for it whenever we felt emotionally ready - i'm 37 in february and so not exactly with time on my side.

coolkat · 03/01/2008 20:46

Wishing you luck whomovedmychocolae - nice name by the way - I got tummy ache from to much chocolate and wish DH had moved mine!!

cece · 03/01/2008 20:45

Yes the mw advised to wait for first af before trying but we have gone for it anyway. I will be 41 soon so not much time to waste iyswim. Although I am terrified of having another mc.
