@FourOclock I couldn’t agree more! Even though I haven’t been trying I have had fertility concerns most of my adult life (suspected PCOS, irregular cycle etc) so I’m always a bit sensitive when people get pregnant very easily (though of course so happy for them!) and have always appreciated a text announcement to prep my poker face!

Superstorefan123 · 22/02/2022 23:55

@tryingtryinggone thanks so much that is super helpful! I kind of agree, I’ll be thinking about it anyway and think I actually might end up more stressed scared I’ve missed my window rather than just knowing if that makes sense?

I turn 29 in Autumn so had a vague plan of doing 4 months of just seeing what happened before cracking on with OPKs in autumn but we’ll see!

Sunshine0987 · 22/02/2022 21:52

Hi everyone! Can't wait to see the first BFPs on here soon 😁

Currently on my period and feeling a bit worse for wear - already looking forward to when I finally have a 9 month break from it haha, although still a few to go before we start TTC.

Fortunately we have quite a lot of events coming up in the Spring like weddings, birthdays and a holiday to the Caribbean so I'm hoping the next few months pass quickly and we'll start trying before we know it!

DanceWithYourBalloon · 22/02/2022 20:03

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful

However last time I was very envious of all the mums with their smart pram systems so I will probably cave and get one that gets used once a week or something Grin
With my first I got a horrid cheap pram and regretted it as we used it all the time. With my second I splashed out on a fancy one and he hated it and it rarely got used! 🙄 We have a variety of slings now! So at least this time round I'm covered!😆
DanceWithYourBalloon · 22/02/2022 19:59

Ooo new thread!

I've been quiet as I've had the week from Hell, basically anything that could go wrong did. 🙃

I'm hoping my husband gets rid of his COVID quickly as fertile window is approaching.

Dreamingof3 · 22/02/2022 19:40

@PrettyPolly92 that's got to be so hard 💔 the only thing I would suggest is letting her know before you did anything like a social media announcement. I'd probably send a message explaining and just something like you understand if its difficult for her and she feels like she needs to distance herself but you're still there for her etc. X

FourOclock · 22/02/2022 19:26

When I was struggling to get pregnant with DC1 I really appreciated being told by text so I could read it and react however I needed to privately and then plaster on a happy message. I think I will go down this route with my friend if I end up pregnant before her. It's so tricky though isn't it. My friend is being incredible and still going to visit new mums etc as if it isn't happening but I know she is struggling behind the scenes.

tryingtryinggone · 22/02/2022 19:23

@Superstorefan123 with my first I used OPKs and in some ways it definitely does take the fun out of it but when you’re ttc I think it’s always in the back of your mind anyway so not sure what difference it makes other than it obviously making sure you know when you’re most fertile. It’s very easy for them to say to go with the flow but very different when it’s happening to you. I probably will use OPKs again this time but will maybe try the first couple of months to be a bit more relaxed. It becomes (or did for me anyway) all consuming and not always in a good way. We got pregnant the month we decided to stop trying as it was just putting too much pressure on us

PrettyPolly92 · 22/02/2022 19:15

@FourOclock I’m still praying she gets pregnant before me. I’m dreading telling her, I’m not confident she’ll be able to be around me at all if I’m pregnant. I know she cancels any social plans if she knows there’s a pregnant woman going. I’m hoping she’ll be happy for us eventually. She’s on the waiting list for IVF so I’m hoping that happens soon 🤞🏼

I actually have no idea how I would tell her if I got pregnant before her 🥺

Superstorefan123 · 22/02/2022 16:23

Also for those coming off the pill, it took me 4ish months to settle down properly into a period (I think first gap was 60+ days??) so try not to be too disheartened though I remember it feeling very stressful :(

Superstorefan123 · 22/02/2022 16:22

Hi all! Was quiet on the previous thread but hoping to post more as TTC gets closer! Hope all is well and exciting hearing about people’s purchases :)

For those tracking using OPKs would you recommend? I quite want to (irregular cycle, though track natural ovulation symptoms already) but lots of friends with babies have advised it takes the fun out of things and to go with the flow (all people with very regular cycles/who conceived first month so perhaps a very different scenario to mine but also worry they might have a point!).

Thanks in advance for advice!

PinkButtercups · 22/02/2022 13:47

Just checking in.

Wishing you all luck.

hevann · 22/02/2022 10:43

@Bear486 welcome back 😊 I'm still waiting for my first period after coming off the pill nearly 6 weeks ago. I had a 3 day withdrawal 2 1/2 weeks after coming off but nothing since. Been tracking ovulation and the strips are getting darker which is promising. I'm using Flo at the moment and it says I should ovulate today so I'll test again later to see if it's any darker and it says period due around the 9th March. So we will see if I go back to normal straight away or not, fingers crossed! x

Bear486 · 22/02/2022 10:26

Not been on for a while, how's everyone doing?

Since removing my implant around 4wks ago I've had my first period return this morning. So now just to work everything else out!

FourOclock · 22/02/2022 06:54

That's really tough @PrettyPolly92, have you thought about how you will tell her when you are pregnant? I'm in a similar boat with a friend who has been struggling with secondary infertility, I am praying she gets pregnant before me

PrettyPolly92 · 21/02/2022 23:00

Hello thanks for the tag!!

My best friend and her husband have been TTC #1 for 3 yrs and so any baby talk is out of the question when I’m with them as she finds it too upsetting Sad I’m so glad I can come here and read all your lovely stories about TTC Smile x

FourOclock · 21/02/2022 20:32

I was very tempted by a Donkey, I wish I'd got one when my boys were younger but we didn't have the cash and a friend gave us their double for free. I wish I'd just bit the bullet and bought a second hand one. Not sure I will need one now as DS2 is likely to be nearly 3 at least by the time baby comes along, and he must copy everything his brother does so if his brother is walking so is he!
I'm tempted by the Buffalo/Fox though. I just want a parent facing seat up to toddler hood.

I will say to anyone, don't feel guilty about spending money (if you can afford to of course) on things like prams/slings/car seats - things that get you out of the house easily and the most happy. If you love your pram (or whatever) it will make you get up and out a lot more than something that is a faff or you don't really like. With my first we just couldn't get out of the house easily for a variety of reasons and MIL sat DH down in the end and told him to sort it and it made a big difference to my mental state for sure!

WingingIt09 · 21/02/2022 20:23

That bugaboo comment was meant for @NarnieJoy not @nyxxie 😂🙈

I don't think Gp I'll do anything but will definitely contact if I reach 3 months with nothing.

Cheekypeach · 21/02/2022 20:22

Oh I so wish I could pram shop again. But we splashed out on the Silver across Brompton for DD, and it would be such a waste not to use it again. It’s a lovely pram so I’ve no complaints, but pram shopping is so exciting!

WingingIt09 · 21/02/2022 20:22

@Nyxxie downside of the bugaboo donkey would have to be the width though! Some spaces in shops are a tight squeeze with a standard width single pram.

NarnieJoy · 21/02/2022 20:21

@WingingIt09 don’t loose hope, you could always chat to the GP about giving you that pill which induces a bleed to see if it kickstarts the hormones

NarnieJoy · 21/02/2022 20:20

@WingingIt09 @FourOclock I’ve been eyeing up the bugaboo donkey because of its storage capabilities! Whenever I see a friend with a kid for a walk I love being able to bing my stuff on the biggie when I offer to push!

WingingIt09 · 21/02/2022 20:19

@Cheekypeach I'd take any excuse for a date night! Go for it!

I am still sooo impatient for my period, 7 weeks on from stopping pill, I've been doing OPKs again but no sign of any lines on them. I'm so going to end up with it taking 6 months to come back and missing my ideal TTC window of May 🙈

OP posts:
NarnieJoy · 21/02/2022 20:18

@Cheekypeach definitely treat yourself, just got to do what you got to do!

Cheekypeach · 21/02/2022 20:16

Hi all! Wow another thread already! We’re a committed bunch aren’t we…

CD22 here, due my period on Sunday, just want to get it over with so we can start ttc!

Work is very stressful at the moment, a year of maternity leave has never looked more appealing! I’m due to ovulate on a Saturday so I’m wondering whether a babysitter/meal out/bottle of white wine might get us off to a flying start..!
