@lj2022 Yes! You get busy this very second. I believe even 5 days before ovulation up until the day itself is optimal.

lj2022 · 02/04/2022 10:55

@Nypie it's so good isn't it. I've learned more about my body from that app than in my entire life. I was recommended it by a friend and soo glad she did

Nypie · 02/04/2022 10:51

@lj2022 I'm really enjoying natural cycles I love how you can go from preventing to trying and all the updates they give you.

@WingingIt09 ahh that makes perfect sense its a faff even with no kids. I think your right don't worry until given a reason to.

@TheOnlyException1 I've told my bestie too was wondering if it's the right thing to do but she is the most likely to grill me if my alcohol consumption goes down and will support me so best to have her on side. Ohh how far gone will you be at her wedding?

Anxiety is hard sorry you're struggling! Mine has been going up and down this year with a new job so makes sense a new life is knocking you. From what I've studied and try to teach...and live by I'd say try not to push too hard against it, it's okay to acknowledge it you're anxiety is preparing you for danger, often times that danger will not happen, but its not a bad thing it's like a fire alarm. Okay its gone off thank you for letting me know.

1st step try to be calm the calmer you are the better you can react to the situation (guided meditation on youtube are great for this.)

Now lets acess the situation are you okay right now? Physically how are you feeling. Then mentally whats going on try to sit with your thoughs and feelings write them down. Talk yourself through it reasure yourself if you can

3rd get help just like in a fire. It might be worth speaking to your bestie, I know you want to tell your parents first but maybe it might help to talk to her? If not help can be an outsider a counsellor it can be online.

And most importantly be kind to yourself do the things you like plan nice things to take your mind off the wait. In this moment you are pregnant and that is a beautiful thing so treat you and the baba as best as you can.

Not to scare you but I think anxiety during pregnancy can go on through out then when the baby gets here when it becomes a child a teenager! There's so many moments as a parent of anxiety to look forward too but you're doing the best thing to confront it now.

Brightonbelle87 · 02/04/2022 10:34

@TheOnlyException1 sorry you're dealing with anxiety, it's the last thing you need! Maybe telling people will help, make it 'real' ? A Dr's appointment to confirm/check everything is OK might help too but getting one of those is like winning the lotto round here!

lj2022 · 02/04/2022 10:12

Got my peak OPK last night and finally getting the hang of what it all means. Previously I thought peak was ovulation day but am I right in thinking it's between 24-48 hours after ? I best get busy this weekend for my best chances

TheOnlyException1 · 01/04/2022 22:25

Hi all, how are you all doing? ☺️

@Nypie I decided to share that I was ttc with my best friend, especially as I am bridesmaid at her wedding later this year!

I haven't told her the BFP news yet though, as I want to share with parents first. They live a long way away, but I'm seeing them for a weekend trip in 3 weeks, which will be just over 7 weeks in, and seems like a good time to tell them, if everything is still all good 🤞
I was wondering if anyone could share any advice/could relate - I'm struggling quite a lot with anxiety - I've had it for years, but it's really flared up since bfp, I'm honestly exhausted with feeling constantly worried that the pregnancy is going wrong, or will somehow go away, or that I'm doing something wrong, and I really want to get over this.. I'm hoping it is just a reaction to these new hormones, and I'll get it under control soon! Any words of wisdom?

WingingIt09 · 01/04/2022 19:27

@Nypie haha. Unfortunately I struggle with BBT as I'm not able to reliably temp thanks to my daughters. Will just have to assume I am ovulating and see if I get pregnant when we start to try in May 😅

OP posts:
lj2022 · 01/04/2022 19:27

@WingingIt09 @Nypie yep I use natural cycles too as apparently BBT is the only way to confirm ovulation is actually happening apart from a blood test which I wanted to do so I could go to the Dr if I knew I wasn't ovulating. OPKs only detect a surge in LH which can still happen even if ovulation hasn't happened as it's likely the body has tried to ovulate.

@FourOclock you hit the nail on the head if I knew it would take a year or even two I'd be like right it will happen. I realise though I've been unwell and hardly DTD the last two months so it's a little crazy to be sad when I knew it probably wouldn't happen anyway 😂

Nypie · 01/04/2022 19:15

@WingingIt09 Oops lol well don't get on it! Opks are so confusing I've been using the natural cycles app with opks and temping...your temperatures supposed to go up after ovulation. I'm sure you're ovulating but maybe temp as well if you want the reasurance!

FourOclock · 01/04/2022 18:01

I have full sympathy for those of you who are happy but also sad for others who are pregnant. I found it so stressful when TTC my first, just having no idea if it would ever happen or not. I think if someone had said 'it will take a year to get pregnant but you will' it would have been so much easier than just never knowing month by month.

WingingIt09 · 01/04/2022 17:41

@Nypie we're not actually trying until May 😂. I'm using OPKs to work my cycle out after coming off the pill and also to know when to be more careful! They have gone lighter now so I never actually got a positive. Second cycle in a row they've done that. Last cycle I thought I'd missed the peak because I didn't manage to test, but this cycle I've tested 2/3 times a day.... could I not actually be ovulating?

Nypie · 01/04/2022 17:20

@dearhummingbirds ohh I'd love to go to New Zealand it looks beautiful. And yeah definitely complicated with Zika I'm sure the risk is so so small but wouldn't want to bet on not getting it 😂.
Yeah I've realised lately that everyone is after their own interest so why not me!

@rosecbrm the advice is 3 months when it first happened they said 6 months as a precaution but when I looked at the studies the longest case for infectious sperm was 69 days which has made me feel a bit better about trying a week before 3 months. Ah I'd love to go to the caribbean again, I think we'll go next year, though no more Zika places. This will be our first too so very excited/nervous. Hope your periods are good to you mine are so different from b4 I started the pill.

@WingingIt09 great lines hope you're getting on it.

Is anyone sharing the fact that their TTC with a friend?

Jennifer89 · 01/04/2022 15:50

@lj2022 it will happen for us at some point. I just have to remind myself it isn't a race Grin

lj2022 · 01/04/2022 14:06

@Jennifer89 you sound so like me what's good is they are close to MIL so same situation for me in the giving some space. I would love to have cousins close in age it's something we have spoken about for years but you're right the uncertainty in TTC is highlighted when it happens so easily for some people

Jennifer89 · 01/04/2022 13:40

@lj2022 I think it's normal for women to feel this way. I too had SIL announce pregnancy recently and also felt a little down whilst being happy for her.
I think what doesn't help is the uncertainty with ttc as when see ladies you are close to seemingly getting pregnant easily then you then worry if will the same for you..
I think cousins close in age is lovely thing so just trying to think of the positives. Also most likely less attention from in laws if there is another grandchild which for me is good. As I generally like a bit of space.

WingingIt09 · 01/04/2022 13:30

@Dreamingof3 😂😂

@WingingIt09 ohh Lord 🤣

WingingIt09 · 01/04/2022 13:17

@Dreamingof3 could be.... but also I had nausea from 9dpo with my eldest 😅

OP posts:
Dreamingof3 · 01/04/2022 12:43

@lj2022 yeah only 11dpo I think so is probably just a coincidence!

I'll probably test Monday if still no sign

HeathenPlayingHouse · 01/04/2022 12:10

@DanisEndo @lj2022 Thank you both Smile

I'm glad it's been sorted now, but I'm not going to rely on it to help me- the wait for a first appointment is around 18 months due to backlogs, so we could have already had another baby in that time!

DanisEndo · 01/04/2022 11:28

thanks @lj2022 !!

lj2022 · 01/04/2022 11:26

@HeathenPlayingHouse I'm so sorry you're going through that there is nothing more infuriating than not being Listened to by health professionals. I found switching Dr helped me when I was having problems with my health I really hope you get the help that you deserve.

@DanisEndo I just bought easy at home off Amazon for £8 for 25 strips I don't use them unless on my fertile week just to confirm my app is correct so they last a while. Maybe Holland and Barrett for pre conception vitamins. I got seven seas ones from Asda but my OH isn't taking any so not sure if they do male ones

DanisEndo · 01/04/2022 11:15

@HeathenPlayingHouse UGH its so upsetting how BMI is used as an excuse to brush off medical concerns and how overlooked everything gynae is. Well done for pushing them and getting your referral - hopefully they can see you quickly and are more help!

DanisEndo · 01/04/2022 11:12

Does anyone have any recommendations of where to get affordable ovulation tests, folic acid, preconception vits for Mr.DanisEndo?

HeathenPlayingHouse · 01/04/2022 11:11

Just had to argue with my GP for a gynae referral, thankfully I came out the winner!

I get my period every 2-3 months, closer to 3 a lot of the time. Then when they arrive, I bleed so heavily that I'm afraid to leave the house. I'm prescribed Tranexamic and Mefanamic acid to ease the flow, but they aren't that effective.

This GP is supposed to be the "good gynae doctor" at the practice, and yet for the 2nd time she tried brushing me off with the excuse that it's just my PCOS causing it, and all I need to do is just lose some weight and it'll be resolved.

I am well aware that losing weight will probably help my PCOS, but does that mean I should just be left to deal with it? My periods are slowing to the 4 a year mark, I know they get concerned about that because of the lining build up and increased cancer risk, but I should just suck it up and keep quiet because my BMI is higher than ideal?

She finally offered the referral in the last 30 seconds and then hung up almost straight after. It felt like a total afterthought, a way to get me off the phone.

Oh well, it's done now.
