Starting Clomid tomorrow!

TTC number 2 and currently starting cycle 16. We are about to start Clomid and I wondered if anyone had any advice or tips? Just not sure what to expect with it.
We currently have no known issues, partners SA is ok, my bloods are ok and my HyCoSy came back clear.
Unsure on why we have been given Clomid but willing to give anything a try right now!

@Hoping43 I'm taking Clomid while I already ovulate and my cycles are very regular. I feel like it's kind of a last resort thing until the bigger more expensive treatments.

@SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows Thank you Smile thankfully my first cycle on Clomid was fine, just a headache one of the nights 🤞🏼

@boomshakalacka aww that's great! Thanks for sharing Smile🤞🏼

@TopSecret99 Hey! Also symptom spotting but trying not to think too much into them as I know most of the time they result in nothing! Try not to count yourself out yet SmileI think most people don't have symptoms till after missed AF xxx

Yes it’s so hard.
Do you know your FSH, AMH and AFC results by any chance?

I hope it happens for you this month. Did you decide not to do OPKs? @TopSecret99

TopSecret99 · 14/03/2022 14:49

Hey girls now are we getting on? I'm in the midst of symptom spotting and so far spotted big fat nothing. So thinking I'm already out for the month ☹️ tho I have no idea at all when I ovulated

TopSecret99 · 12/03/2022 21:28

4 cycles and then next stop will be ivf but god knows how long will have to wait for that.

Thank you I really hope you get yours too. Daffodil such a tough journey isn't it.

I have a good ovarian reserve so I guess the quality must be poor? Who knows- unexplained infertility is such a frustrating diagnosis.

You are lucky to have your 2 but I understand the want for another. It will happen, this one is just keeping you waiting a bit longer Smile

Hoping43 · 12/03/2022 20:45

@TopSecret99 how many cycles of clomid are you trying? Will it be straight to IVF then? Is your ovarian reserve all ok?

I hope you get your BFP soon. I am so lucky to have my two boys but I knew from the day I had my first I wanted three and I just don’t feel complete. However, I’m so grateful and so lucky I have two and I never take a second with them for granted x

TopSecret99 · 12/03/2022 19:42

@Hoping43 yes HSG was standard where I am. We've been trying just short of 2 years and never been pregnant Sad we are going via NHS as will get 1 free cycle of IVF. I'm praying it doesn't get to tho. I'm 37 and do worry that it's too late.

I'm not sure HSGs are that much private- from what I've seen you need to shop around as the prices can vary.

Keep us updated on your journey, wishing you all the luck in the world! X

boomshakalacka · 12/03/2022 19:37

I took Clomid 16 years ago and my amazing 15 year old daughter is sitting next to me. Definitely go for it. Thanks

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 12/03/2022 19:02

Clomid made me feel really sick unfortunately. Wishing you lots of luck OP ☘️☘️☘️

Hoping43 · 12/03/2022 18:55

@TopSecret99 thanks so much for replying. Was your HSG recommended as standard? I don’t think all trusts do it and I want it doing due to having a section but worried if they won’t turn I’m going to have to pay £2k to have it done privately plus all the costs of IVF (convinced myself that’s the route we will have to go down now).

How long have you been TTC and how old are you?

TopSecret99 · 12/03/2022 18:43

Ahh fab ok so yeah I've had them all done including AMH and HSG and all fine.

They told me they prescribe chlomid to people who are ovulating as it helps with overall fertility and makes you release more than one egg so higher chance of a positive. X

Hoping43 · 12/03/2022 16:31

@TopSecret99 we’ve had all the tests done and everything has come back within normal range apart from haven’t got AMH results yet. Only thing I haven’t had done is an HSG and nobody has suggested it yet but I have had a c section previously so maybe they will 🤷🏼‍♀️

TopSecret99 · 12/03/2022 15:53

Ahh ok so have you had any tests at all or is this first appointment?

Hoping43 · 12/03/2022 15:14

@TopSecret99 how have they confirmed ovulation? No, it hasn’t happened to me yet but wondering if it might at my fertility appt in a couple of weeks as I have two children aged 5 and 2 and been trying again for a year now with no luck x

TopSecret99 · 12/03/2022 14:39

Yes me!! I've been diagnosed with unexplained- ovulate every month so bit sceptical about it working. Is this the same with you?

Hoping43 · 12/03/2022 13:38

Hi ladies. Is anyone taking clomid who already ovulated on their own?

naevo · 12/03/2022 13:17

@EMM01 Woo! that's amazing news! So pleased Clomid is doing its job for you! SmileGrin

When do you guys think you'll be testing if AF doesn't show?

OP posts:
TopSecret99 · 11/03/2022 20:09

Yesssssssss @EMM01 that's fab news!!! So happy for you! GrinGrinGrin xx

EMM01 · 11/03/2022 15:03

I got my mid-luteal P results back for the day 21 bloods and was told they were 'normal -no action'. I'll need to speak to the doctor on Monday morning to clarify what that means and get the levels, but I am presuming that ovulation happened, and progesterone is now at the right levels. God I hope so lol!!!! I am finally functioning normally lol! Grin I don't think there will be any other success for me this month, but if I ovulated at all I'll be over the moon. Very hopeful now for the months ahead.
I didn't take a test btw, I'll just wait it out. I'll be happy with actual ovulation this month!

naevo · 10/03/2022 20:46

@EMM01 it's so hard not to get ahead of yourself and think about the months ahead isn't it.

I have everything crossed for us this month, hopefully this is our cycle! I don't test early lately as seeing the negative is too hard now compared to just waiting for AF, but I'm a little hopeful this time and keep thinking about testing so I totally understand the urge! I know I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do it though 🤦🏼‍♀️ I literally shake with nerves when testing now! Roll on next Friday!

Hang in there ladies. We got this.
Xxx

@EMM01 if you haven't already- don't dooooo it!! One thing I've learnt it wait for your period to be late/ not come. It's so distressing when you get a negative and if you're like me you'll just spend the whole time til your period comes thinking it might have been a false negative so you feel the disappointment twice Sad

Don't mean to sound negative babe but I made a conscious decision a while ago and defo works out better in the log run.

I have EVERYTHING crossed you get your positive this month xx

EMM01 · 10/03/2022 15:54

Hi girls, I was going to post on this earlier this morning but stopped myself.... and now I'm overthinking again!! Hmm hate this waiting, I'm very tempted to buy some pregnancy tests on way home and start in the morning.... the early detection ones. I'm only CD23 (total guess) and is too early, but I don't know.... it might give me some sort of answer to work with Grin I'll ring for my results from the bloods first. This weak has dragged. Will be hard stand five more months of this on clomid and then wait forever for ivf if it doesn't work

TopSecret99 · 10/03/2022 15:15

Thank you @naevo Daffodil

Urgh it's the worst isn't jt! Every month something different seems to happen and you think "omg was that a sign??" Nope... no not this time!!

I don't wanna sound to negative... we got this!! It's gonna be our time!! StarStarStar

naevo · 10/03/2022 14:02

@TopSecret99 It really is frustrating. Keep taking everyday as it comes, we are here with you 😊

I'm at the stage of over thinking every twinge atm! Love this bit 🙄

TopSecret99 · 09/03/2022 14:12

Yeah, I usually use ovulation tests but didn't this cycle as read they aren't very accurate when on chlomid so didn't see the point. So now god knows... I don't usually have an signs I have so... urgh!! This is so hard and I'm getting frustrated and impatient!! Lol SadSmile
