Starting Clomid tomorrow!

TTC number 2 and currently starting cycle 16. We are about to start Clomid and I wondered if anyone had any advice or tips? Just not sure what to expect with it.
We currently have no known issues, partners SA is ok, my bloods are ok and my HyCoSy came back clear.
Unsure on why we have been given Clomid but willing to give anything a try right now!

Good luck @TopSecret99 I've just finished up my pills for this cycle, holy hot flashes this time round 🤣

TopSecret99 · 20/03/2022 10:33

Hey girls!

Just a quick update- period came today. Had cramping all day yesterday so new it was en route!

Ready to start taking chlomid again tomorrow. Trying to stay positive!!

Round 23 in total- Round 2 of chlomid- here we go!!!

Hoping43 · 17/03/2022 22:19

@naevo thanks for sharing. I’m similar in a way. I have two boys. One conceived first month of trying in 2016 and my second took longer (eight months) in 2019. We’ve been trying for a third now for 12 cycles and no luck so we are also under the care of a fertility clinic. Nothing found yet. SA okay, bloods within normal range (although FSH on the high side of normal but they’ve told me it’s not of concern), waiting on AMH result. Had ultrasound and follicle count which was all fine.

I too wonder if it is anything to do with my planned section I had with my second baby but nobody seems concerned about that at the moment.

I just turned 35 a couple of months ago. It’s just a mystery but can only imagine it’s going to boil down to being older and egg quality and possibly ovarian reserve although my follicle count was fine so who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️. I’m following this thread in anticipation of being offered ovulation medication to try for a few months at my appt in 2 weeks time xi

xoJellyBean · 17/03/2022 21:48

@naevo thanks so much. Yes I've got a scan on CD10 and also bloods on CD21 (or 7 days after ov) how many rounds of clomid have you done so far?

@EMM01 yes my consultant rang and told me to start 100mg after seeing my blood results. I hope it works, all these side effects are such a nightmare 😩

naevo · 17/03/2022 21:01

@Hoping43 Hey, of course! I have DS who will be 4 in May. We conceived first time without thinking about it (hate myself for that and how I took it for granted). Thought it would be the same this time round however we are now about to start cycle 17 of ttc. We started private fertility investigations early (about month 7) as I thought they may be something wrong as I had a traumatic birth with DS. No obvious issues though, all tests have come back fine (bloods, SA, HyCoSy, I'm also 31 and a healthy BMI) so now we are trying Clomid for 3 months! And if that fails, then I have no idea what will be the next step for us.
How about you? What's your story? X

@naevo I’ve just seen your have a son already. Would you mind sharing your story as I’m new to the thread. Thank you xx

naevo · 17/03/2022 20:34

Yes I will mope for the next couple of days then move forward to the next cycle! Fingers crossed for a Christmas baby! Better chances apparently the longer your on it I heard?

No symptoms isn't a bad thing Smile I had nothing until well after my missed period when I was pregnant with DS.

I do feel like you know deep down if you are or aren't though, or maybe it's just because of how long we've been trying, we are just used to it!

I still have everything crossed for you!

TopSecret99 · 17/03/2022 18:04

@naevo
Ahh I'm sorry lovely. It's the worst feeling when you know your out for the month and even worse when having higher hopes with chlomid. As I said before tho, they gave us more than one months worth for a reason so mope it out for a few days while you have AF and then get back on the horse.

I also have a very strong feeling I'm going to be out this month. I don't have any period symptoms yet but I feel absolutely no different at this time in my cycle to what I usually do so im pretty sure im not pregnant.

I will try and wait til Monday (CD29) on the very unlikely case I haven't had AF by then but I don't think that is gonna be the case sadly xx

naevo · 17/03/2022 17:21

@TopSecret99 AF is due any day now, my guess is tomorrow or Saturday. Had some cramping and a little bit of spotting today, got all my usual AF feels so I know I'm out this month. Absolutely gutted!
Quite a difference in days there! It's hard to really know isn't it. When do you think you'll wait to test until? X

OP posts:
TopSecret99 · 17/03/2022 16:41

@naevo when is your AF due? My app is telling me tomorrow but 28 days will be Sunday, I don't know which one to go by Confused also finding it hard not to test- but only symptoms I've had to terrible mood swings and tiredness x

EMM01 · 16/03/2022 20:14

Thanks girls... I'm very positive about this month, not sad AF arrived, only sad she brought the usual goodies of pain, tiredness and irritability 🙄 Those haven't changed @naevo ..... isn't any lighter thankfully. I've a head cold as well so also feeling extra tired too. I'll have a fun Paddy's day tomorrow with all this lol

@xoJellyBean Did they advise you to move to 100mg to try and shorten your cycle? It's good you ovulated even though delayed! The extra should make a big difference

naevo · 16/03/2022 19:32

I'm sooo tired today, I think it's because of this cold I have but it's killing me not to symptom spot and I can't stop thinking about testing this time round. I usually have good will power! Driving me bonkers at work. Wish my brain would just switch off from the subject 🙄

naevo · 16/03/2022 19:29

@xoJellyBean Hey! A lot has gone on in a short couple weeks! Mainly a lot of support which is always nice Smile Good luck on the 100mg! Will you be having blood tests again to monitor ovulation?

xoJellyBean · 16/03/2022 14:15

Hi ladies, I think I joined this thread at the beginning but got lost along the way 🤣 just updated myself in everyone's journey so far. My first round of clomid finished a few weeks ago but I didn't ovulate until CD33 and af arrived on 12dpo. I've just started my second round but the dose has been increased to 100mg 🤞🏼 good luck everyone x

naevo · 16/03/2022 11:21

@EMM01 so sorry AF showed but amazing that you ovulated and resulted in a good cycle! This can only mean good things Smile At least you can look forward to this cycle knowing it's working even though it's a pain taking the tablets.
Have you found that AF is lighter than usual? This is something I'm worried about as mine were so light anyway!

OP posts:
TopSecret99 · 16/03/2022 11:04

Aww @EMM01 sorry to hear but it really is fantastic news that you ovulated and for AF to arrive bang on day 28 shows it's doing its job! They give us more than 1 months worth of tablet for a reason so try to stay positive! DaffodilDaffodilDaffodil

EMM01 · 16/03/2022 10:49

@TopSecret99 @naevo Well I'm officially out of the game this month lol! AF arrived bang on CD28 for the first time ever. So back on clomid today for round 2 🤢 but think I'll take it tonight and try and sleep through it. Not disappointed, hardly ever works first time, and I now know I ovulated well so it was a successful 1st go. Doc said yesterday my CD21 bloods were 53 nmol/L which she said was excellent, definitely ovulated. So all good. DP is on a mission to make it work this month 😂
Have fingers crossed for you girls for this month, and anyone else in same boat 🤞

EMM01 · 14/03/2022 19:27

@TopSecret99 @naevo I'm really not confident of success this time but remain hopeful, no sign is a good sign! I don't know when AF would be due as so irregular most of the time, but if I ovulated as per the blood test it must be soon... Hmm I'll leave it another week if nothing happens

naevo · 14/03/2022 19:18

@EMM01 I have everything crossed for you! When do you think you'll be testing if AF doesn't show? Sorry to hear you was feeling so down on clomid. It sounds like been through so much xxx

TopSecret99 · 14/03/2022 18:39

@EMM01 omg keep us updated!! Everything crossed for you! Xx

EMM01 · 14/03/2022 18:35

@Makeitsoso I think ur right... this is my first round of clomid, and when I took the tablets I got a bit anxious about my mum who passed away a few months ago... I have dealt with losing her quite well if I say so myself (proud face), I had plenty of notice that it would happen. But the 5 days I took clomid.... I cried every day; the situation with mum and long time ttc was got to me a little, so I was a bit miserable. My DP didn't notice but I definitely did. After the last tablet tho I was back to myself again. But I'm dreading having to take them again!! They better be worth it. They gave me awful headaches as well.

@TopSecret99 @naevo I have no new symptoms or signs of anything yet so still waiting. Tomorrow would be CD28 so she's due anytime if the clomid balanced things

naevo · 14/03/2022 17:45

@Makeitsoso I'm so sorry, it sounds like you had a really rough time on it DaffodilI have heard a few things about it impacting mental health which can be quite scary when your in quite a low place anyway when ttc.
I think Ive been ok, I went out on a girls night near the start of this cycle and ended up doing a lot of crying so definitely laying off the drink in the future while I'm on it. DH said I'm a little bit short sometimes but bearable! Thank you for your advice, we'll definitely be keeping a close eye on it.

OP posts:
Makeitsoso · 14/03/2022 15:55

Hope it goes well for you!
Just a warning that for some women it can seriously and suddenly impact their mental health. I became quite ill (almost hospitalised) before realising the cause. I came off it and have never been unwell since. It was really dramatic for me. Hopefully won’t apply to you at all, but worth asking your DP and maybe a close friend to let you know if you seem to be going off the deep end!

Good luck and hope it’s successful Smile

TopSecret99 · 14/03/2022 15:53

Sorry @Hoping43 getting confused lol doesn't take much! You're not on chlomid yet are you! My bad Blush xx

TopSecret99 · 14/03/2022 15:51

@Hoping43 no don't know as did it through the nhs so they don't do the scans through the month. Literally just chucked me the pills and away I went
Also didn't use the OPKs as read they aren't accurate when taking chlomid due to the changes of hormones going on! Did you use them? Xx
