Starting Clomid tomorrow!

TTC number 2 and currently starting cycle 16. We are about to start Clomid and I wondered if anyone had any advice or tips? Just not sure what to expect with it.
We currently have no known issues, partners SA is ok, my bloods are ok and my HyCoSy came back clear.
Unsure on why we have been given Clomid but willing to give anything a try right now!

@xoJellyBean mine turned from faint to full on positive in a matter of 10 hours, so this may happen for you as well. When do you usually ovulate?

Did you have any other follicles or was that the only one your gp mentioned? It’s a bit big for CD10 if you are not due to ovulate soon. Sometimes follicles grow into cysts and then rupture so they’re gone by the next cycle.

But you can only know for sure if you scan after ovulation I guess? And even then there’s not knowing for sure what went down in there. 😬 You may ovulate soon and an egg may be released from that very one follicle … who knows. Fingers crossed for you!!! 🙏🏻❤️

Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 19:12

@xoJellyBean what cycle day are you on? I find mine all of a sudden just turns dark. I test twice or even three times a day. 12pm 4pm and 8pm when I’m expecting ovulation so I don’t miss it

xoJellyBean · 23/03/2022 19:02

Ahh thanks all! I'm excited but also a bit concerned that my LH is super low... any advice is appreciated 😭

Starting Clomid tomorrow!
Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 16:07

@lilrosemarie yes was totally gutted last week when my covid test was my first test to show two lines 😭😭💔

user6669 · 23/03/2022 15:43

I hope its OK for me to join, about to start round 1 of clomid this evening and really hoping I ovulate. I have conceived 3 times before with clomid (I have pcos)

lilrosemarie · 23/03/2022 14:31

@naevo I think if you dtd every other way you will definitely cover it. But I admit it’s fun seeing those two lines pop up. i just wish they were they appeared on a different kind of test as well, not just on ovulation (and nowadays … covid test 😬) 🤦🏼‍♀️🙈

naevo · 23/03/2022 14:26

@xoJellyBean definitely ready to pop! I'm not sure OPKs are very accurate while taking Covid but even still, it only takes a couple hours to surge so hopefully you get a positive soon!

@TopSecret99 AF was longer (4 days) and heavier than usual for me. My usual AF is usually only 2 days long and really light. I think Clomid can thin your lining sometimes as this was something I was worried about with mine being so light anyway. I think I've read that it can cut AF short but is normal.

@lilrosemarie ah what timing! You should have hit ovulation judging by those dates anyway.

@EMM01 me too, just sitting here wondering what's going on down there and wanting to know 😂

The past couple of days I've had really bad stabbing pains in one boob. Keeps making me jump it's that sharp! Last day of my tablet for this cycle today, roll on the fertile window! Also really really tempted to OPK out of interest! They are in my basket on Amazon but trying to talk myself out of it as we'll only be DTD every other day anyway 😬

lilrosemarie · 23/03/2022 12:10

@EMM01 I am using opks this cycle. I found a German drugstore brand and I got a positive on CD15-16. Before Clomid I’ve been using OneStep and never got such a strong positive. I did get what I assumed was a positive test once also around CD15-16, but not as dark as now with Clomid.

I read some reviews on OneStep and some women said it didn’t work well for them so I shrugged it off and just assumed I ovulate (AF regular - every 28/30 days). 🙈 When I look back now, I definitely didn’t worry as much then. I just believed it would happen eventually and after over a year it still hasn’t. 🥺 I am devastated everytime AF comes, though.

EMM01 · 23/03/2022 11:54

@xoJellyBean that follicle is massive! 🤗🤗 ready to pop. Great to see the clomid working well.

@naevo Im not getting any scans or bloods anymore now as my CD21 bloods showed ovulation... so I'm on my own now!

I should be entering the fertile window now in the next day or so.... feeling good, no pains yet! Are you all using OPK's? I haven't as I thought the clomid might offset the results, but im thinking I should give them a go in case! Just to get the timing right

lilrosemarie · 23/03/2022 05:55

We have to put a little pause on dtd as hubby is having SA on Thursday, so yesterday was our last night … hope we covered the bases, considering my first positive opk on 21st in the evening.

His doctor advised not to dtd two days prior to having SA. 😬 Only with our luck he would get his appointment so close to my ovulation, haha.

I’m just praying now that we were successful, or at least that AF isn’t late if we weren’t so I can proceed with our second Clomid cycle immediately. 🙏🏻

Fingers crossed for all of you in the same position! How’e everyone else doing? :)

lilrosemarie · 23/03/2022 05:47

@xoJellyBean wow! 😎
I would be taking opks twice a day if I were you 🙈 I did one in the morning that was still negative (between 8-9am) and the evening one (7pm) was strong positive. So it can be a matter of 12 hours that things change.

TopSecret99 · 22/03/2022 23:32

@xoJellyBean omg looooove the pic looks amazing did your doctor say anything about using opks? I had ready they are not very accurate with chlomid?

@naevo I have had a head ache too this cycle and omg the hot flushes BlushBlushBlush I've never felt anything like it

My period has only last 2 days which is unusual for me- has anyone else had this when on chlomid?

xoJellyBean · 22/03/2022 22:44

@naevo me too, it's amazing to see 👀 here it is, in all its glory 🤣 my OPKs are negative though so I'm panicking 🙃

Starting Clomid tomorrow!
naevo · 22/03/2022 22:24

@xoJellyBean let's hope so 🤞🏼 Amazing, that sounds promising! Absolutely post the pic, show that follicle off! I really wanted to take photos of my scans, I found it all so interesting!

OP posts:
xoJellyBean · 22/03/2022 22:06

@naevo I pinned a lot of hope on my first cycle too. 2nd cycle seems to be the charm for most people!🤞🏼

I had my follicle scan tonight and I've got a nice big 26mm one! Ready to ovulate 🥳 my consultant was so pleased she printed it for me if anyone would like to see it🤣

naevo · 22/03/2022 10:58

@lilrosemarie how amazing that you actually felt it! I'm so sure I felt it last cycle too but have no OPK to back it up! I've heard of a few people doing it the other way around which I do t really suppose it makes much difference as long as we are trying something! But fingers crossed Clomid works wonders for you!

@Star089 Hey! Loads of luck for your first cycle of Clomid! Sounds like it's already working for you which is great news. How did you feel on the tablets? Any different. Let us know how your OPKs go

@Hoping43 yes, I think the chances for that would be so slim but definitely keep pushing your consultant! It kind of feels like you have to try and diagnose yourself these days doesn't it!

@EMM01 I'm on day 4 and this cycle I've had headaches, DH said I've been completely zoning out too, maybe a bit of brain fog? I hope you haven't felt too down this cycle. Are you having tracking scans again? I'm taking a miss on them this cycle

OP posts:
EMM01 · 21/03/2022 19:19

Hi girls, I've not much to report... finished my 2nd course of clomid yesterday so on the wait for ovulation now. Fewer side effects this time, had a headache the first few days but went away. I have taken the tablets at night though this time, around 10.30 pm so hopefully I slept through the worst of the symptoms!

@Star089 you are in the same boat as me, PCOS is a nightmare! I don't think I ever ovulate, but 50 mg clomid seems to be working very well for me, ovulated and shorter cycle. Hoping there will be more success this month!

A few of you have mentioned about ovulation pains... I definitely had them last month with clomid, stabbing stinging pains on both sides for a few days, then stopped.

lilrosemarie · 21/03/2022 18:38

I got a positive ovulation test just now!
I’ve been getting stabbing pains down there and thought I should take another test even though I already did this morning (it wasn’t positive yet) … and here it goes … finally + on an ovulation test. Thanks to Clomid I also felt it!

When do you usually ovulate after + on a test?

Starting Clomid tomorrow!
Hoping43 · 21/03/2022 13:06

@naevo haven’t been offered a HSG yet but I’m going to push for it in my consultant appt next week. The only thing is that my FSH was on the higher side of normal so I am wondering if I’m going to get told I have low egg reserve and if so it’s probably unlikely I have two issues (low ovarian reserve and problems from my c section) but I guess not impossible x

Star089 · 21/03/2022 12:47

Hi all!
Hoping I can join this thread 😁.
I am on my first cycle of Clomid this month after trying for around 5 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS and advised I hadn't been ovulating.
I finished the tablets a couple of days ago (took them days 2-6).
This time round I feel like I had a normal 5 day period and not my usual 8-10 days, so hoping this is a good sign!
I'm just starting to use OPKs, and DTD every odd day.
I have everything crossed!!
Good luck to you all who are trying with Clomid x

lilrosemarie · 21/03/2022 11:28

@TopSecret99 we haven’t done many tests yet as I was sure it would happen eventually. A lot of people I know got pregnant whilst we were just waiting … some even with much worse lifestyles that us, so it just baffles me how some people can have one, two or three babies while we can’t even get a positive pregnancy test 🥺

I am hopeful though. Maybe it happens while I’m on Clomid.
My husband is also getting SA soon, so this will give us some answers. 😬 I HOPE!

TopSecret99 · 21/03/2022 10:58

@lilrosemarie totally feel you re thinking it would be easier than this. I have unexplained infertility so they keep telling me they can't find anything wrong so why has it been nearly 2 years and it's not happened? Blows my mind!
The only plus from that is that it CAN happen anytime. It just doesn't Sad
I didn't have scans either through the first cycle as done through nhs so you feel a bit in the dark through it all. I've been the same as you tho, usually a cold person but hot all the time on chlomid! At night I've got the window open; I'm in, out; in, out, in, out of the covers! Hopefully it will be a small price to pay when we finally end up with our babies!! X

lilrosemarie · 21/03/2022 09:20

@naevo good to know. I have been feeling bloated for the past few days, I guess that’s because of the growing follicles. 😬🙈 Unfortunately I’m not having any scans done. My gp said we will try 3 months of Clomid and she already gave me a referral for laparoscopy and hysteroscopy in case I need it. 😬 I hope we are successful with Clomid and I won’t need the op. 🙏🏻

During that one year of ttc I only took OPKs once or twice and I did get a positive, so I assume I do ovulate. But who knows really? 🙈 This TTC business is way more complicated that I thought it would be.

We are both 29 and we didn’t think it would take us this long.

naevo · 21/03/2022 09:08

Hey ladies sorry for the late reply. Took the weekend off to clear my mind.
@xoJellyBean this will only be my second round of Clomid 🤞🏼I just think I put a lot of hope on that first cycle!

@Hoping43 it just doesn't make sense does it, when they can't find anything wrong but in my head there must be! I really do believe it's to do with my previous birth however like yours, they don't seem concerned about it. Have they offered you a HyCoSy/flushing your tubes? Apparently that can help some people while it didn't help me. Hopefully we get some BFP on this thread soon which will be lovely!

@TopSecret99 so sorry AF showed up. Absolutely, treat yourself now and then look forward. We got this next cycle and at least we know what to expect on it.

@lilrosemarie Hey! Sorry your in the same boat. Oh that's exciting, hopefully ovulation is round the corner then, have you been having any scans/follicle tracking? I definitely felt pressure around ovulation on Clomid, it kind of felt like it was bulging but I didn't know follicles grew to the size they do so it's no surprise. Didn't have any pain though. Do you ovulate normally on your own anyway? Sending loads of luck to you this cycle!

Hi,
can I join?
I started Clomid this cycle as well (took it from day 5. to 10.). It didn’t really have any side-effects, but I feel much hotter since taking it. I’m usually very cold especially at night, and since taking it, I’ve been feeling so warm. Haha. So that’s a good side-effect for me.

I’m on CD15 today. Feeling some pains (not strong) in my left ovary since about two days ago, so we have been dtd a lot these past few days. 😂 OPKs are getting dark, but I haven’t had a positive yet. Just waiting still.

I’ve heard other people had really painful ovulations, but I have never felt much pain around that time, so I was hoping to with Clomid, to really know when’s the time, but I haven’t had any intense pains down there.

I was prescribed Clomid after ttc for a little over a year. And I wasn’t offered any ultrasounds unfortunately. I do have quite a regular period (apart from one last month that made me go for an appointment with my gp, because the cycle went on to be 50 days long after having covid 🙄).

Anyway, baby dust to everyone ❤️
